Funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and at 2 p.m. at the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church, with the Rev. E.L. Worthman officiating. Burial was made in the New Holstein city cemetery. Mr. Asmus was born im the town of New Holstein on April 24, 1862, the son of Carl and Anna Plett Asmus. February 24, 1892 he took as his life-mate Dorothea Dickelmann of the town of New Holstein. The ceremony was performed at the St. John Evangelical and Reformed church in New Holstein, by the Rev. G. Haken. Following their marriage they resided on a farm in the town of New Holstein until 1904, when they moved to their present home here. For a period of 25 years Mr. Asmus was connected with the Kiel Cheese and Butter Company here, retiring in 1930. Mr. Asmus is survived by his wife; four children, Mrs. Emil (Anna) Berkhahn of Gresham, Mrs. Carl F. (Rola) Dick of Milwaukee, Harvey of Fort Atkinson, and Lieutenant Lester Asmus of Brooklyn, New York; eight grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Greve of the town of New Holstein, and Mrs. Elizabeth Peterson of Oshkosh. A son, Alexander, died in 1900. One grandson, John Seefeldt, at present is stationed in Australia with the U.S. Navy. The Senior Choir, of which Mrs. Asmus has been a member for many years, rendered several anthems. Pallbearers were Henry Balza, Clarence Peterson, Norman Peterson, Roy Peterson, Walter Kuester, and Edgar Greve. Mueller (both born Germany) Born Wisconsin ********** From Manitowoc co. death records: Louise Avery nee Ruppenthal (v.26 p.775) Feb. 4, 1858-Jan. 25, 1932 Daughter of Jacob Ruppenthal and Ernestine Mueller (both born Germany) Born Wisconsin Died from “paralytic stroke –old age” Buried at Kiel Cemetery ************* Mrs. Louise Avery Is Found Dead When neighbors failed to see her about her house for several days, investigation Wednesday morning showed that Mrs. Louise Ruppenthal Avery, 73, had passed away sometime within the past two days. She had been a resident of Kiel practically all her life, and was one of the first pupils in the Kiel public school. She lived alone in her home just south of the First street bridge here. A brother, Adolph, lives in Cascade, and a sister, Mrs. Andrew Noll, lives in Chilton. The time of death was fixed at Monday night. Complete obituary will be published next week. Funeral services will probably be held on Friday afternoon. 1932 *********** Mrs. Louisa Ruppenthal-Avery Funeral services for Mrs. Louisa Ruppenthal Avery, who passed away at her home on First street Tuesday evening of last week, were held from the Meiselwitz Undertaking parlors Friday afternoon. The last rites were performed by the Rev. J. W. MacElree, with burial in the Kiel cemetery. Pallbearers were August and Fred Ehnert, Philip Arnold, Ed. Baumann, Joseph Stoeger, and Louis Kuhn. The Kiel Frauenverein of which she was a charter member, attended the services in a body. The deceased was born February 3, 1858, in the home in which she died. She was the second of nine children born to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Ruppenthal. Of the entire family only one sister, Mrs. Andrew Noll of Chilton and Adolph Ruppenthal, a brother of Cascade, survive her. She was married in her youth to Mr. Avery. There were no children. 1932
