**********
The death of Charles Goggins, which has been momentarily expected
for weeks past occurred at his home, on Main street, on Saturday morning,
Feb. 2, at the age of28 years, 9 months and 11 days.
The deceased was the youngest son of the late Bernard and Elizabeth Goggins.
He was born in the town Russell, Sheboygan County, April 22, 1872 and
remained there until 1878 when he moved with his parents to the town of Chilton.
On Jan. 23, 1894, he was married to Katherine O'Malley, shortly after which
they moved to this city and have since resided here.
In October 1899, Mr. Goggins had a severe attack of pneumonia which nearly
caused his death and from which he never entirely recovered; and a cold caught
last August, took such a hold upon him in his weakened condition that consumption
followed, causing his death. His death is, indeed, a sad one because of his youthfulness,
being but scarcely entered upon life, and also because of the young wife and three
helpless children, the youngest but a babe, left without a husband and a father's care.
Mr. Goggins had a wide acquaintance both in this vicinity and about the town of
Russell, his former home. He was a member of the Chilton Court of Foresters
and also an active member of the Fire Department, both of which societies were
present at the funeral which occurred on Monday, from St. Augustine's church.
