Robert Hartman, 82, retired Town of Rhine farmer and former town assessor, 
died Tuesday evening at S1. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan where he had been 
a patient for six weeks. 
He was born in the Town of Rhine Dec. 14, 1876, the son of the late Phillip and 
Elizabeth Strub Hartman. He attended the district school at Millhome and married 
the former Augusta Sinner of the Town of Herman Feb. 11, 1899. 
Following his marriage he operated the homestead farm until 1940 when he 
turned it over to his son, Leroy. He served as town assessor from 1928 until 1937. 
His wife preceded him in death in October, 1938. 
Survivors are three sons, Arvin, of Town of Sheboygan, Elmer of Sheboygan, 
and Leroy on the farm home; three daughters, Mrs. Herman (Viola) Riedbrock of 
Town of Herman, Mrs. Harold (Lorena) Schleunes of Town of Schleswig 
and Miss Anita Hartman of Sheboygan; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. 
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by one daughter, Roma, one grandchild, 
one great grandchild, three brothers and two sisters. 
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel 
with the Rev. Edmond L. Hennig, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, 
Schwartzwald, officiating. Burial will be in the Eckelmann Cemetery in 
the Town of Rhine. 
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. Thursday until the time of services.

Funeral services for Robert Hartman, 82, a retired Town of Rhine farmer and 
a former assessor of the township, who died on Tuesday evening, were held at 2 p.m. 
Friday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel. The Rev. Edmond L. Hennig, pastor of 
St. John's United Church of Christ at Schwartzwald in the Town of Herman, officiated. 
Burial took place in Liberty Cemetery in the Town of Rhine. 
Pallbearers were Merlin DeSchmidt, Elroy, Gerald, Merlin and Ronald Hartman 
and Vernon Rietbrock.

Mrs. Hartmann Dies Monday
Deceased, Aged 62, Suffered Illness of Long Duration
Mrs. Robert Hartmann died early Monday morning at her home in 
the town of Rhine at the age of 62, after a lengthy illness which
confined her to her home for some time. Mrs. Hartmann was born in
the town of Herman on August 30, 1876, the daughter of Conrad and
Louisa Sinner. On February 11, 1893, she was married to Robert
Hartmann, and has lived ever since on the Hartmann homestead in
the town of Rhine. The union was blessed with seven children, one
of whom has passed away. She is survived by her husband; three
daughters, Mrs. Herman Riethrock (Viola) of Town Herman, Mrs.
Walter Raeder (Lorena) of Glenbeulah, and Anita, at home; and by
three sons, Arwin of the Town of Meeme, Elmer of Sheboygan, and
Leroy at home.
She is also survived by five brothers, Willie of Millhome, Philip
of Johnsonville, Conrad of Ada, Rudolph of Plymouth township and
Edwin of Town Rhine, and four sisters, Mrs. John Zimmerman of Ada,
Mrs. Peter Frick of Elkhart Lake, Mrs. Herman Schwartz of Town
Rhine and Mrs. Willie Klaves of Town Franklin, two sisters having
preceded her in death. Six grandchildren also mourn her passing.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Paul Thomas on Wednesday,
at 1:30 p.m. from the Meiselwitz Funeral Home here, and at 2 o'clock
from St. Peters church in Town of Rhine, burial being in the Eckelmann
Cemetery.

Ernestine (Grabs) Hass

Marriage of August Hass and Ernestine Grabs. Married Sept. 17, 1886 in 
the Reformed Church, Town of Schleswig. August is a son of Frederick Hass 
and Wilhelmina Frank. He was born in Prussia and, at time of marriage, 
was a resident of Stevens Point, Portage County.
Ernestine Grabs was born in Prussia of Wilhelm Grabs and Auguste Haenel.
