Koeninger will officiate, and burial will be in the Valders Cemetery. Mrs. Behnke was born Martha Matznick in the town of Rantoul, Calumet County, on Oct. 3, 1880. She was married to William Behnke in 1898 and the couple lived on a farm near Valders for 30 years. They moved to Manitowoc in 1933, where Mr. Behnke died 11 years ago. WILLIAM R. BEHNKE (d. 1943) William R. Behnke, 65, of route 1, Manitowoc, died early today. Koeninger officiating. Burial will be in the Grace Lutheran cemetery at Valders. Mr. Behnke was born at Rockland in 1877 and in 1898 married Miss Martha Matznick. They located on a farm at Rockland, near Valders. For 12 years Mr. Behnke served on the Valders district school board. Two years ago the family moved to this city where he was engaged in business for a year and then moved back to a small farm on Highway 151 west of the city in the town of Manitowoc Rapids. Survivors are the widow; four daughters, Mrs. Carl Draheim of Sheboygan, Mrs. Arthur Brandes of this city, Mrs. Harold Fitzpatrick and Mrs. William Lorch of Milwaukee; three sons, Paul, Fred and William, Jr., all of this city; brother, Adolph, of this city; sister, Mrs. Minnie Halverson of this city; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. JACOB F. BLAHNIK Jacob F. Blahnik, 59, of Clarks Mills, died Monday evening at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, Valders, with the Rev. Paul Hensel officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Blahnik was born Dec. 16, 1899, at Prauge, Czechoslovakia son of the late Louis and Antoniette Barnesh Blahnik. He moved to the United States as a younster with his family and settled at Appleton until 1920 when he came to Manitowoc County. He was a Navy veteran of World War I. He married the former Viola Peters Sept. 7, 1920, at Stambaugh, Mich. For the past 11 years he was employed at Lakeside Machine Shop and was a member of Machinists Local 516 of Manitowoc. He also served as president of Grace Lutheran Church for five years. Survivors include his wife, three daughters, three brothers, Charles of Los Angeles, John of LaCrosse and Lewis of Appleton; two sisters, Mrs. Julis Balza of Appleton and Mrs. Raymond Kessler of Kaukauna; five grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. NICOLE S. CHANG NICOLE "NIKKI" SUZANNE ROBLES CHANG April 18, 1971 - February 27, 2011 On Sunday February 27, 2011, Nicole "Nikki" S. Robles Chang went home to the Lord, after a two and a half year battle with cancer, she was surrounded by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cathy Robles, and her grandfathers and paternal grandmother. She is survived by husband, Luke; and children, Jeremy, Anthoney, Hailey, and Jonathan; and by her mother, Liz Calanche; father, Luis and step mom, Irma Robles; brother, Michael and sister-in-law, Lori Robles; and nieces, Ashley and Erin Robles; grandmother, Aida Calanche; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Nikki was welcomed into her family on April 18, 1971, in Fontana, California. She grew up in Colton with her family. Nikki fulfilled her dreams of having her children and becoming a graduate registered nurse in 2007. There will be a Memorial Mass on March 12th at 1 P.M. at St. Adelaide Catholic Church at 27457 E. IDA FUHRMANN Mrs. Ida Fuhrmann, nee Ida Lueloff, 67, of 210 Fifth St., Neenah, died Wednesday evening at her home following a short illness. BERTHA GRUENDEMANN PASTOR’S WIFE BURIED FRIDAY Mrs. Otto Gruendemann Died On Tuesday Afternoon Funeral services for Mrs. Otto Gruendemann, 41, wife of a former Gibson pastor, who died at the hospital here Tuesday afternoon, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the Beduhn and Goetz funeral home, Two Rivers. Interment will be in the cemetery at Valders. The services will be in charge of the Rev. Paul Hensel, long a friend of the family. The deceased, whose maiden name was Bertha Leitzke, was born at Hustisford, Wis. Besides the widower and eight small children; two brothers, Emil, Two Rivers, and Ewald, Hustisford, Wis., survive. The widower and children are residing in the town of Gibson. The Rev. Gruendemann was formerly pastor of the St. John Evan. Lutheran church but was relieved of his charge there by the church trustees last July. Mrs. Gruedemann (sic) was brought to the hospital here last Saturday. A child, born Tuesday, also died. He married Bertha Leitzke in 1920 in Hustisford, Wis. She preceded him in death in 1935. MARY ELIZABETH HENSEL Mary Elizabeth (Mollers) Hensel, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at Hillview Healthcare Center in La Crosse. She was raised (baptized, confirmed and married) in the Christian Lutheran faith in which she remained her entire life. Mary was born March 11, 1933, in Minneapolis, to Matthias and Grace (Hendricks) Mollers. Her uncle, Dr. Esten Hendricks, delivered her. Mary attended Marcy Grade School and Marshall High School, both in Minneapolis. After high school, she received two years of nurses’ training at Northwestern Hospital. It had been a dream throughout her youth to be a medical missionary in Africa with Dr. Albert Schweitzer. Mary worked as a telephone operator with Bell Telephone Company and also worked for the Pillsbury Company, both in Minneapolis. For three years, she was a stewardess with Northwest Orient operating out of Minneapolis, where she met her husband, Daniel James Hensel. They were married July 29, 1958, at Fort Snelling Chapel in St. Paul. Mary and her husband, Daniel, lived in Enumclaw, Wash., from 1959 to 1961 before settling in Western Wisconsin (Burr Oak, 1961 to 1993, Genoa, 1993 to 2005, and La Crosse, 2005 to 2014) for the rest of their lives. They had six children. Mary had a beautiful voice. She loved to sing and had a great appreciation for classical music. Her father was second trombone in the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra for 32 years. Her uncle was also in the same orchestra, serving as principal French horn. She loved to read the great authors and learn about any subject. She was a perceptive conservationist (which she preferred to refer to as being a good steward of God’s earth) and an astute natural health advocate, both inclinations were unusually ahead of her time. Mary is survived by her husband, Daniel, La Crosse; five children, Heidi (Hoza) Wright, Genoa, Heather (Kevin) Milner, Green Bay, Wis., Peter (Jessika) Hensel, St. Louis, Mo., Mary Beth Hensel, La Crosse, and Joseph (Britta) Hensel, South Chittenden, Vt.; 18 grandchildren; and 15 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Matthias and Grace (Hendricks) Mollers; her son, Daniel James Hensel Jr. (born Easter Sunday); two sisters, Catherine (James) Thompsen and Cecelia (DuWayne) Peterson; and one niece, Ann (Hensel) Jaeger. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Melrose, Wis. Pastor Floyd Brand will officiate. Mr. Hensel became pastor of Trinity Lutheran church, Town of Liberty, where he served 19 years. They moved to Manitowoc to reside. He was a pastor in Tucson Ariz., from 1911 to 1916, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Liberty, from 1916 to 1935, and at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Valders, from 1916 to 1974. ANNA M. HILLMER Mrs. A. R. Hillmer, 62, of Rt. 6, Sturgeon Bay, died Sunday evening at Algoma Memorial Hospital, following a heart attack. The former Anna Maas was born March 14, 1897, at Blue Earth, Minn., daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. William Maas. She was married to Alex R. Hillmer June 13, 1926, at Wabasso, Minn. After she was graduated from a parochial grade and high school at Watertown, she was employed until marriage by Brandt Automotive Cashier Co. at Watertown. The couple lived in several communities until moving to the Town of Forestville, Door County, where it had been engaged in farming ever since. Four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include the husband, two sons, (private); two daughters, (private); a brother Walter of Rt. 6, Sturgeon Bay; a sister, Mrs. Dora Eckhardt of Blue Earth, Minn.; and three grandchildren. JOHN P. HILLMER John P. Hillmer, age 84, of 804 23rd St., Two Rivers, died peacefully at home, with his family at his side, on Tuesday morning, March 4, 2014. John was born April 29, 1929, in Globe, Ariz., a son of the late Alexander and Anna (Maas) Hillmer. He attended school in the Sturgeon Bay area, graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1948. Following high school, John sailed the Great Lakes as a fireman/oiler on the Steinbrenner and Phillip Mench with Great Lakes Steamship Co. He then furthered his education, receiving his degree in agriculture from UW-Platteville in 1954. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from March of 1954 to December of 1955. John moved to Two Rivers in 1958 and in 1964 established Lindsay Soft Water of Northeastern Wisconsin. The company is now known as Bay Lakes EcoWater Systems and is celebrating it's 50th year in business. On May 29, 1963, John married Lois Kautzer at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. John and Lois celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 29, 2013. Survivors include his wife: Lois Hillmer, Two Rivers; son and daughter-in-law: Dan and Jena Hillmer, and their sons, Ethan, Seth, Aaron and Colin, Manitowoc; daughter and son-in-law: Ann and Robert Landt, Manitowoc. He is further survived by two sisters: Ruth (Herbert) Armstrong and Joan Dunn; a sister-in-law: Sandy Hillmer, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother: Robert Hillmer. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery, Valders. ROBERT HILLMER Robert (Bob) Hillmer, 73, Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully at home with his wife Sandy by his side. Bob was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Juneau, Wis., to Alexander and Anna (Maas) Hillmer. Bob and his family moved to Algoma, where Bob graduated from the Algoma High School. He entered the US Army and served as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. After his discharge he was asked to come back to the home farm and help due to the illness of his parents. While on the farm Bob delivered the Green Bay Press Gazette for 17 years. Bob retired after many years on the farm. He married Sandy Phillips in Valders on Feb. 22, 1983. Bob enjoyed all the nature around his home and spent his time planting trees, gardening and collecting different types of rocks. Bob's faith with the Lord was very strong and knew the Lord would be there to take him home. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his two children, Licia and Michael; three stepsons, Ken, John and Dave; four grandchildren, Zach, Deja, Bailey and Peyton; and two step-grandchildren Aedan and Zander. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son Kim. There will be a graveside service for Bob on Saturday, July 9, at 10 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Valders off of Hwy 151 with Pastor Larry Zessin and Rev. Don Rose officiating. BERTHA JACOB FUNERAL OF MRS. JACOBS ON WEDNESDAY Mrs. Ida Jacobs, widow of Julius Jacobs, ended her own life at the farm home north of Valders Sunday by hanging. Despondency over ill health were given as the cause of the rash act, the decedent having been a sufferer for several years. She made her home with two sons and they found her hanging from a door when they returned from doing the chores in the barn. Mrs. Jacobs was sixty-four years old and is survived by four sons, Reinhart and Bruno, who have farms in the county and Arnold and Eugene at home. JULIUS JACOB STROKE PROVES FATAL TO AGED VALDERS MAN John Jacob, well known Valders resident who suffered a stroke of paralysis two weeks ago, failed to rally from the attack and died at the family home Thursday. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with burial at the Valders German Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Jacob was born in Germany, August 21 1867 and came to America and Manitowoc County in 1881, marrying in the Town of Newton shortly after his arrival. GUSTIE KATTREH Mrs. Herman Kattreh, 78 of Rt. 1, Cato, died Monday afternoon at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, after a lingering illness. HERMAN KATTREH Herman Kattreh, 92, of 814 S. 35th St., Manitowoc, died Friday afternoon at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. EMMA KLEINFELDT Mrs. Emma Kleinfeldt, 73, of 533 Western Ave., Plymouth, widow of O. Robert, died at Plymouth Hospital Thursday afternoon. She had been a patient there the past week. She was born April 28, 1900, in Cato (Manitowoc County), daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kattreh. On Oct. 21, 1922, she was married to Mr. Kleinfeldt at Valders, and the couple lived there and in Lomira, before coming to Plymouth in 1925. He died Nov. 19, 1962. Mrs. Kleinfeldt was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Plymouth, and its Tuesday Bible Class. Surviving are one son, Orvin of Elkhart Lake; three daughters, Mrs. Russell (Regina) Borsch of Milwaukee, Mrs. Robert (Judith) Johanning, Town of Plymouth, and Mrs. Daniel (Kay) Schmitz of Kiel; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Meta Jeske of Valders. ORVIN R. KLEINFELDT SR. O. Robert Kleinfeldt Sr., 64, of533 Western Ave., Plymouth, died in his sleep at his home this morning. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Born Sept. 7, 1898, at Lomira, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Kleinfeldt, he attended St. John's Lutheran School at Lomira and was married Oct. 21, 1922, at Valders to Emma Ida Kattreh. The couple lived at Plymouth for the past 38 years. Mr. Kleinfeldt was employed as an overhead line construction foreman for the Wisconsin Electric Power Co. for the past 40 years. MARCUS O. KOCH Dr. Marcus O. Koch, 79 of 1014 Hawthorne Avenue, Two Rivers, died early Sunday morning, July 29, at his residence. Dr. Koch was born August 11, 1904, at Greenville, Wisconsin, son of the late Pastor Henry and Ida Lueders Koch. He was a 1926 graduate of Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin. He attended the Wisconsin Synod Seminary in Wauwatosa but did not receive a call into the Ministry due to having become involved with the Protestants Conference of which he was a lifelong member. Dr. Koch graduated from Northwest Chiropractic College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and opened a practice in Two Rivers in 1950 until his retirement due to ill health in October, 1963. Dr. Koch was also a part-time Pastor for a number of years at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Valders. He married the former Irene Meissner in 1933. Norman was born February 28, 1931, in the town of Rockland, Manitowoc County, son of the late Bennie and Elsie (Duchow) Krueger. He married Marjorie Wiegert June 26, 1954, at Grace Lutheran Church, Valders. Norman served in the United States Army in Korea, was a cheese maker at the Lake to Lake Cheese Company, Kiel, and had worked for Wisconsin Public Service for 37-1/2 years until retiring in 1993. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Valders, served as sexton for the church cemetery, and served on the church council for many years. He was a member and Commander of American legion Post #125, Childton, and had served as District Commander. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post #607, Kiel, the 40 et ?? 1434, and was a 4-H Leader for 19 years. NORBERT B. LIERMANN Norbert F. Liermann, 76, a resident of Manitowoc Health Care Center, formerly of Valders and Milwaukee, died Friday evening, April 30, at the Health Care Center. AMELIA LUELOFF Mrs. August Lueloff, 89 (photo), lifelong resident of the county, died Monday night at the home of her son, Otto, in Valders. BARBARA M. LUELOFF Barbara M. Lueloff, 69, of Valders, died Monday afternoon, January 6, at the family residence. LESLIE LUELOFF Leslie F. Lueloff, age 88, of 120 Wilson St., Valders, died early on Monday morning, March 3, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. He was born on Nov. 23, 1919, in Valders, son of the late Otto and Laura (Defke) Lueloff. Leslie is a graduate of Valders High School. Upon graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army, serving during War World II. On Nov. 22, 1948, he married the former Barbara Smith in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 1986. Leslie and Barbara owned and operated their own dairy farm for many years until their retirement. Leslie enjoyed playing sheepshead with his friends. WILLIAM PAUL William Paul, 85, former Manitowoc County farmer who had been residing at the Luther Home, Marinette, since September, died Friday night at Marinette General Hospital in that city after an illness of 10 days. Funeral services will be at 10 am Friday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Crivitz. The Rev. Robert Mueller will officiate and burial will be in the Community Cemetery at Valders, Manitowoc County at 2 pm. Mr. Paul was born March 13, 1870 in the town of Schleswig, Manitowoc County and farmed until 30 years ago near Valders. On his retirement he moved to Crivitz where he farmed and lived with a daughter, Mrs. William Mullard, for nine years before moving to Luther home. He married the former Marie Haefke at Manitowoc in 1905. She died 11 years ago. LUCILLE L. TEESCH Lucille L. Teesch, age 78, formerly of 13306 Highway 151, Valders, died Saturday morning, Oct. 14, 2006, at River's Bend Health and Rehab Center, Manitowoc. Lucille was born July 17, 1928, in the town of Cato, daughter of the late Elmer and Adeline (Wilms) Teesch. She graduated from Valders High School in 1946 and Manitowoc County Normal Teachers College in 1948. Lucille obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a Masters degree from Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee. She was an elementary school teacher, retiring in May 1990. Lucille enjoyed dancing, bowling, walking in the woods and traveling. In her youth, she was a member of 4-H and rural youth. JOHANNA H. WIEGERT Johanna H. Wiegert, age 92, of the Beverly Health Care Center in Chilton, formerly of Valders, died on Thursday, July 13, 2000 at the nursing home in Chilton. She was born on August 1, 1907 in Marlough, Mich., daughter of the late Charles and Hulda (Bruss) Tegge. She married Frederick H. Wiegert on September 24, 1931 at First German Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on December of 1983. Johanna worked as a telephone operator in Reedsville, was a receptionist for the Mirro Aluminum Company in Manitowoc and then farmed with her husband in the town of Cato, in Manitowoc County for 45 years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Valders, and a member of the Ladies Aide. Survivors include three children, Marjorie Krueger, Chilton, Frederick (Patricia) Wiegert, San Ramon, Calif., Donald (Patricia) Wiegert, Rhinelander; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. MARTHA WILDGRUBE Mrs. Robt. Wildgrube Buried At Valders Funeral services for Mrs. Robert Wildgrube of Valders were held in that village this afternoon with a number of Manitowoc friends being in attendance at the services. She died in the hospital at Sheboygan early this week following an extended illness. An especially selected quartette from the Aluminum Goods Manufacturing company Marine band played a number of selections at the services. ROBERT WILDGRUBE Robert Wildgrube, Sr., 77, oldest active member of the Manitowoc Marine band, died last night at the Maple Crest Sanatorium in Whitelaw, where he had been a patient. He suffered a stroke last Tuesday. He joined the band 43 years ago and in addition to being a faithful member of that organization, played the clarinet in numerous orchestras in this city for many years. For the past two years he has made his home with a son, Robert, Jr., in Valders. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. from the Berge funeral home at Valders, the Rev. Paul Hensel of this city officiating. Director Emil Sohrweide of the band announced the organization will attend the rites in a body. Burial will be in the Grace Lutheran church cemetery in Valders. Mr. Wildgrube was born in Germany in 1865 and four years later accompanied his parents and brothers to Howards Grove, Sheboygan county. The father and his four sons organized the Wildgrube family band which played for years at weddings, picnics and similar outings in eastern Wisconsin. Locating in Manitowoc in 1899 Mr. Wildgrube was one of the first members of the old Marine band organized by the late Frank Moser. He was a charter member of the Manitowoc Musicians union. Until a few weeks ago he continued to turn out with the Manitowoc Marine band, even when the assignment called for a long parade. After he took up his residence at Valders he became a close personal friend of William Christel, prominent Valders business man, and was on hand each year to play at the latter's birthday celebration. Mr. Wildgrube was married to Martha Verhulst. She died in 1929. A son, Robert Jr., of Valders is the only survivor. AUBREY ZUTZ Aubrey Zutz, age 86, of 106 N 1st Street, St. Nazianz, died Saturday morning, December 8, 2012, at his residence. Aubrey was born April 26, 1926, in the town of Liberty, son of the late William and Laurina (Nass) Zutz. He was a graduate of Valders High School with the class of 1943. Aubrey served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Intrepid from 1944 to 1946. On July 15, 1950, he married Gladys Ann Perschke in Brillion. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2012. Aubrey was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 39 years retiring in 1988 as Post Master in St. Nazianz. He was a life time member of the American Legion Post 477, a member of St. Nazianz Lions Club for 60 years receiving the Melvin Jones Fellowship award in 2010, past secretary for St. Nazianz Growth Association, and a past member of the Valders School Board for 11 years. Aubrey was honored to be one of the many World War II Veterans to be part of the Honor Flight to see the WWII Memorial in Washington, DC. He was a life time member of Grace Lutheran Church serving as secretary for 40 years. Aubrey enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and yard work. He loved traveling with his wife to all 50 states, parts of Europe and Canada. GLADYS A. ZUTZ Gladys A. Zutz, age 82, of 106 N. 1st Street, St. Nazianz, died Monday evening, October 29, 2012, at Azura Memory Care, Manitowoc. Gladys was born on January 13, 1930, in Edgerton, WI, daughter of the late Leslie and Lydia Reichardt Perschke. Gladys was a graduate of Brillion High School with the class of 1947. On July 15, 1950, she married Aubrey Zutz in Brillion. Gladys was employed with Miller Law Office as a tax preparer from 1978 until 1992. She was a talented piano and organ player, playing the organ at church for many years. She enjoyed knitting, painting, and needlepoint. Gladys loved flowers, especially working in her large garden. She liked to travel, traveling to all 50 states, parts of Europe and Canada. She gave blood for many years, donating 40 pints. Gladys was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Manitowoc County Historical Society. She attended Liberty schools. On September 26, 1925 she was married to William Zutz in the Town of Liberty. He preceded her in death in 1965. Mrs. Zutz was a member of the Ladies Aid and Grace Church Lutheran Church. Survivors include four sons, Aubrey of St. Nazianz, Orlan of Manitowoc, Teddy of Valders and William of St. Nazianz; three daughters, Anna Bette Zutz of Rt 1, Valders. Mrs. Luther (Marlene) Cook of Jacsonville, Texas, and Mrs. Walter (Lorraine) Stenzel of Valders; three brothers, Edmund Nass of Manitowoc, Arthur and Oscar of rural Valders; a sister, Mrs. Arnold (Leona) Rusch of rural Valders; five grandsons and seven granddaughters. Three sisters, three brothers and three grandsons preceded her in death. ROBERT ZUTZ Robert Zutz, three-months old son of (private) Zutz, of St. Nazianz died Sunday morning at Madison. Private funeral services were 2 p.m Monday at the Christianson Funeral Home, St. Nazianz, the Rev. Paul G. Hensel officiating. Burial was in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Valders. WILLIAM ZUTZ William J. Zutz, 60, of Rt. 1, Valders, died Saturday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Valders. The Rev. Paul Hensel will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Zutz was born Sept. 2, 1904, in the Town of Eaton, son of the late William and Martha Habermann Zutz. He attended Niles public schools and married Laurina Nass Sept. 26, 1925, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Liberty. He was a carpenter for Burger Boat Co. In., Manitowoc, and a former cheesemaker. Mr. Burger (sic) was a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Local No. 849 at Manitowoc and the Grace Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife; four sons and three daughters (Survivors omitted for privacy.); a brother, Hugo of Brillion and seven grandchildren. A brother and three grandchildren preceded him in death.
