MARGARET W. RICHARDS Mrs. Margaret W. Richards, a Manitowoc resident , now a resident of Shady Lane, died Tuesday afternoon, August 6, at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Alfred A. Schneider with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum. Mrs. Richards was born in the Town of Newton, daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Feller Dueveneck. She moved to Milwaukee as a young girl and married Charles H. Richards on September 15, 1945. After their marriage the couple moved to San Diego California, where he preceded her in death April 3, 1953. Mrs. Richards then moved back to Manitowoc in 1958, residing here since. Mrs. Richards was a member of Manitowoc Womens Club, Catholic Womens Club and St. Ann’s Society of St. Boniface Parish. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Don (Betty) McNeil of California; two sons, A.C. Richards and H.R. Richards, both of California; a brother, Ulrich Dueveneck of Town of Newton; six grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survived. She was preceded in death by three brothers and our sisters. RIEDERER DEATH CLAIMS SOUTH SIDE YOUNG LADY Miss Auralia(sic) Riederer Succumbs to Heart Failure Last Eve Death claimed Miss Auralia Riederer, daughter of Paul Riederer, late yesterday afternoon, after an illness of several weeks. Death was primarily due to heart trouble. News of the death of Miss Riederer was received with sincere sorrow by a large circle of friends. Decedent was 26 years of age, having been born in this city March 23, 1892 and had always made her home here. She is survived by her father, three brothers, John and George, of this city and Reuben, of Chicago and two sisters, Mrs. Richard Groll, Chicago and Mrs. Edward Kadow, this city. GEORGE J. RIEDERER George J. Riederer, 73, of 1207A Marshall St., Manitowoc, died Saturday morning at home. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leander Schneider S.D.S. will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Riederer was born Nov. 14, 1897, at Manitowoc, son of the late Paul and Georgiana Dusold Riederer. He married Veronica Bradl Sept. 27, 1921, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clark Mills. He had been employed as a butcher at Baetke Meat Market, Manitowoc, for 27 years and was also employed at the Eagles Club of Manitowoc from 1952 to 1965. Mr. Riederer was a 50 year member of the Eagles Aerie No. 706. Survivors include his wife and nieces and nephews. A daughter, June, four sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. GEORGEANNA RIEDERER SOUTHSIDE WOMAN OVERCOME AS SHE PREPARES NOON DAY MEAL, DIES IN A FEW MINUTES Fifteen minutes after she had prepared the noon day meal and while seated in a chair at her home, Tenth & Hamilton Streets, Mrs. Paul Riederer was stricken by heart failure and passed away before physicians could aid her. Mrs. Riederer's death occurred shortly after noon today and was a shock to friends. Though Mrs. Riederer had not been in robust health, she had not been seriously ill and had been about her household duties as usual today. While preparing dinner she complained of feeling ill and seated herself in a chair to rest when suddenly she closed her eyes and passed away. Mrs. Riederer, nee Georgiana Dusold, was born December 16, 1848 and had spent most all of her life here. She is survived by her husband and six children. A number of brothers and sisters also survive. IONE RIEDERER STUDENT DIES AT HER HOME Illness of Year Is Fatal To Mis Ione Riederer After a year’s illness from which complications developed, Miss Ione Riederer, 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Riederer, 1119 Philippen street, died at the home Friday evening. Funeral services will be held from the home at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and at 9 a.m. from the St. Andrew’s Catholic church with interment at Calvary cemetery. The deceased was born in this city and always resided here. She attended St. Andrew’s parochial school and enrolled at the Lincoln high school where she completed her first two years, being secretary of both the freshman and sophomore classes. She was preparing to enroll as a junior last fall when stricken ill. The parents, one sister, Antoinette and a brother Paul survive. JOHN P. RIEDERER (d. 1952) John P. Riederer, 63, (above) of 1119 Philippen St., Manitowoc, died early Tuesday at his home following a lingering illness. RIEDERER Death Mars Happy Visit AT Sheboygan Death marred the visit of Mr. and Mrs. George Riederer with relatives at Sheboygan yesterday when their little daughter, June Mary, passed away at the home of Mrs. Riederer's sister there. The babe was two years and eight months old and death was due to flu pneumonia, an attack of which was suffered only a short time. PAUL RIEDERER (d, 1935) DIES AT HOME OF A DAUGHTER Paul Riederer, 78, To Be Buried On Wednesday Paul Riederer, 78, last survivor of the old Steamer Company No. 2, which was the first paid fire fighting force organized here over 50 years ago, died at 9 a.m. Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Kadow, 1406 South Tenth street. The funeral will be on Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock from the home of Mrs. Ed Kadow and at 10 o’clock from the St. Boniface church with the Rev. Anthony Jaeckle officiating. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery. Mr. Riederer was born on October 20, 1856, in this city. He was a member of the first paid fire company which was organized over 50 years ago. Small in number, the company received the assistance of many volunteers. William Stephani was head of the department which was located at the quarters now occupied by the present South Side Fire station. For many years Mr. Riederer conducted a new and second hand clothing store and a tavern at the corner of Tenth and Hamtilon streets. He married Georgiana Dusold on August 28, 1877. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Ed Kadow, city; three sons, John, George, city; and Reuben, Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Leo Kadow, Mrs. Jake Stueber, city, and Mrs. Martin Ouker, Silver Lake; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. REUBEN RIEDERER Reuben Riederer, 56, of 1119 Philippen St., Manitowoc, died early Wednesday morning at Holy Family Hospital following a short illness. Mr. Ripp began his career in 1936 with the Manitowoc Postal Service. In 1951, he was appointed Assistant Post Master, retiring in 1971. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Manitowoc, and the Manitowoc Eagles Aerie Post No. 706. TERRY L. RISCH Terry L. Risch, 45, passed away Friday evening at Mercy hospital in Janesville, Wis. He lived and taught elementary school in the Janesville area for the past twenty years. Mr. Risch was a 1964 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, received his teaching certificate from the Manitowoc Teachers College, and his university education degree from the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater. Prior to leaving the Manitowoc area, he was a leader in 4-E on the local and county levels. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. At the time of his death, Mr. Risch was a Principal and Teacher at Consolidated School in Milton, and an active member of the Wisconsin Education Association. Terry Risch is survived by his mother, Amelia Risch of Manitowoc; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Judy Risch of Manitowoc; a brother, Kenneth of New Orleans, La.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Jeff Heyduk of Valders and Kathleen and Randi Heyduk of Manitowoc. ERWIN W. ROBERTS Erwin W. Roberts, age 93, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 17, 2005, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. He was born Dec. 20, 1911, in the town of Newton, Manitowoc County, son of the late Mathias and Mary Helfert Roberts. On Feb. 8, 1932, he married the former Frances G. Witczak at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The couple farmed on the home farm in Newton until retiring in 1981, then moving to Manitowoc in 1985. Frances preceded him in death Aug. 30, 2001. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. ALICE A. ROBINSON Alice (Derenne) Robinson, age 68, of 1226A S. 17th St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday June 17, 1992, at the St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. She was born August 7, 1923, at Thiry Dames (sic), Wis., daughter of the late Victor and Anna VanDenAvond Derenne. She married LeRoy Robinson June 2, 1956, at Manitowoc, Wis. Mrs. Robinson was employed for the Zannackers Uptown Cleaners for 19 years, and the Globe Laundry for two years, until her retirement in 1991, due to her illness. Mrs. Robinson was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. HERBERT J. ROECK Herbert "Fritz"J. Roeck, 75, 2323 Monroe St., New Holstein, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 1995, at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton. He was born June 22, 1920 in New Holstein, son of the late John and Meta Glasnapp Roeck. He graduated from New Holstein High School in 1938. He was an employee of the Depies Oil Company, New Holstein, for 53 years retiring as general manager in 1985. On July 19, 1947, he married Rita Groh in St. Nazianz, by the Rev. Joseph A. Rauch. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and a past president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and New Holstein American Legion Post No. 124. He was a veteran of the United States Army Aircore, serving in England from 1943 until the conclusion of WWII. Survivors include his wife, Rita; one son, John (Lisa) New York, N.Y.; five daughters, Mary Roeck and Donna Roeck, both of Milwaukee;. He had been a teacher in this county before establishing a business in Escanaba and was lately a businessman in Appleton. He was only 34 years old and leaves a young wife, his mother and two sisters. He was buried here in Manitowoc last Thursday.
OLIVE NACHTWEY (Roemer Lot) Funeral services were held here today for Mrs. J. H. Nachtwey, 46, nee Olive Roemer, who died Friday at her home in North Fond du Lac, and the body brought to the Pfeffer Funeral Home last night. This morning there was a requiem high mass at the St. Boniface church. The Rev. William Kappes was celebrated with the Rev. B. Salbrieter, deacon, and Frank Kappes, sub-deacon. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Nachtwey was born in this city in 1891 and in 1914 was married to J. H. Nachtwey. OSCAR ROEMER From Der Nord Westen, 09 Apr. 1908: Last week we reported the death of a daughter of Fred Roemer here, and today we must report that his eldest son, 19-year old Oscar, has died of consumption with which he fell ill last Fall. In addition to the deeply sorrowing parents, he is survived by 6 brothers and a sister. The funeral was held yesterday morning at the Catholic cemetery. ******* Death's summons came twice within a week to the home of Fred Roemer, corner of Washington and 9th street, Oscar Roemer, the 19 year old son, passing away at one o'clock this morning of consumption after an illness dating from last Thanksgiving. Deceased was a bright young man and before being taken sick was employed as a delivery boy for Scholten Bros. and for Worel, Zeman and Stangel Co. Besides the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Roemer, one sister and six brothers survive. Last week the four year old sister and daughter Gladys passed away. CLARENCE J. ROHRER Clarence J. Rohrer, age 92, formerly of 1833 Fairmont St., Manitowoc, died on Thursday morning, Oct. 16, 2008, at North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc. Clarence was born on June 15, 1916, in Manitowoc, son of the late John and Katherine (Sieracki) Rohrer. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1934. After graduating from high school, he worked in his father's cabinet shop until 1936. He then served his Electrical Apprenticeship in the employment of Walter Rohrer, graduating on June 6, 1940. On July 2, 1941, he married the former Helen Cherny at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2000. During World War II, Clarence was employed at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Co. and later became foreman of the electrical shop. After leaving the shipbuilding company, he worked as a licensed electrician for the Anderson Electrical Co. prior to retirement. Clarence was a member of the IBEW Electrical Workers Union and the Manitowoc Eagles Club Aeries 609. He was a skilled craftsman and took pride building the couple's own home. He was an avid sportsman and loved hunting and fishing. For over 50 years, he gathered weekly with high school buddies in the shack they built on the scenic Manitowoc River. Referred to as "Choir Practice," these sessions consisted of refreshments and meals of fish and game, along with nostalgic discussions of earlier years. He had a deep love for his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) Mathew Simonar, with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. She was born November 21, 1916, at LaCrosse, daughger of the late Frank and Mary Pacal Cherny. Helen was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1934. On July 2, 1941, she married Clarence Rohrer at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. She was employed as a secretary for Manitowoc Engineering for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Lakeshore Visual Impaired Support Group and was a volunteer for Peter’s Pantry. Helen was also a member of the Western Fraternal Life Association and the Christian Women of Holy Innocents Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Clarence Rohrer, Manitowoc; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Annette Rohrer, Two Rivers, Robert and Linda Rohrer, Two Rivers, Thomas and Karen Rohrer, Kobe, Japan; one sister, Blanche, Dueno, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren, Atty. Mark Rohrer, Two Rivers, Michael Rohrer, Racine, Steve Rohrer, Madison, Stacy Rohrer, Milwaukee, Doug Rohrer and his wife, Patricia, Ohio, Lisa Fish and her husband, Marty, Ohio, Jennifer Sheehy and her husband, James, Arkansas; two step grandchildren, Michael and Shannon Stewart, both of Two Rivers; one great step grandson, Christopher Sheehy, Arkansas. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Floyd Kluba, Manitowoc; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Josephine Cherny; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary and Kenneth Morris, Valasta and Russel Hanson, and Ann Kluba. The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Innocents Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m.Saturday, until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Friday evening visitation. KATHLEEN M. ROHRER Kathleen M. Rohrer, age 62, of 302 Cleveland Ave., Manitowoc, died Thursday afternoon, July 4, 1996, at the Manitowoc Health Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 8, 1996, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Rev. William Zimmer will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial with entombment to follow in Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. She was born Kathleen Marie Lies, July 14, 1933, at St. Cloud, Minn., daughter of A.J. Lies and the late Catherine C. Frank Lies. She moved to Manitowoc with her family in 1945 and graduated with the class of 1951 from Lincoln High School, and was a graduate of Marquette University, Milwaukee, class of 1955, attaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Kathleen married Richard R. Rohrer August 18, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She was affiliated with Rohrer's Pharmacy and also served as substitute teacher in the Manitowoc Public School System. Kathleen was a member of Sacred Heart church council, a member and current vice president of the I.O.U. Board, a member and past president of the Elks Lodge 687 Auxiliary, a member of the A.A.U.W. and the Manitowoc County Junior Service League, and was involved with the local Girl Scouts. Survivors include her husband, Richard R. Rohrer, Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Greg Grams, DeForest, Wis., Susan and Steve Kirking, Lewiston, Idaho; one son and daughter-in-law, William and Marie Rohrer, Neenah; her father, A.J. Lies, Manitowoc; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Mary Ann Lies, Illinois; six grandchildren, Steve and Chris Grams, Elliot and Wilson Rohrer, Kariee and Kristen Kirking; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by Rev. William Zimmer. OLIVE R. ROHRER Olive R. Rohrer, age 92, of Manitowoc, died suddenly Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Olive was born Dec. 17, 1915, in the town of Kossuth, daughter of the late Charles and Albina (Sykora) Pech. On Sept. 25, 1941, she married Robert F. Rohrer. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1996. Olive was a member of the St. Clare Women's Society and was a Eucharistic minister for the home bound for the former St. Andrew's Catholic Church. She also volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul for numerous years. In addition, Olive taught chair caning at the Manitowoc Senior Center. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, and loved to read, knit and crotchet. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Robert, and one brother and sister-in-law: Richard and Violet Pech, and four brothers-in-law and five sisters- in-law: Sylvester Rohrer Jr. and Kathryn, Florence and Ervin Theisen, Marion and Ben Levendusky, Virginia Willman, and Grace and Anton Lemberger. ROBERT F. ROHRER Robert F. Rohrer, age 81, of 2444 S. 18th St., Manitowoc, died Saturday morning, April 6, 1996, at his residence. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 1996, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. He was born September 29, 1914, in Manitowoc, son of the late Sylvester and Theresa Pritzl Rohrer Sr. He attended St. Andrew Parochial Grade School and was a graduate of St. Norbert's High School in Green Bay (De Pere) with the class of 1933. On September 25, 1941 he married the former Olive Pech at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Bob was employed with the Manitowoc Company Inc. as a Tool Room Clerk for 38 years retiring in 1978. Survivors include his wife, Olive Rohrer, Manitowoc; two sons and daughter-in-law, James T. and Paula Rohrer, Manitowoc, Charles R. and Julie Rohrer, Two Rivers; two sisters, Grace Lemberger, Whitelaw, Virginia Willman, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Rebecca, Matthew, Adam, Jared and Anna Rohrer, Jeffrey and Amy Rohrer. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and may friend. He was preceded in death by one brother, Sylvester Rohrer Jr. and two sisters, Florence Theisen and Marion Levendusky.
