FLEUR-ANGE R. FREDERICK Mrs. Fleur-Ange R. Frederick, 84, of Family Heritage Nursing Home, Manitowoc, formerly of 1445 N. 7th St., Manitowoc, died early Friday morning, April 30, at the nursing home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo J. Schmitt will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Frederick was born Jan. 31, 1898, at Troisreviers, Province of Quebec, Canada, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Julien Dandurand. She was educated in Canada which included 2 years of music at Urselin College, Province of Quebec, Canada. She spent most of her life in Canada and California, moving to Manitowoc in 1981 to live with her daughter. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Marc and June Frederick of Orange, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and William Tkacz of Manitowoc; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Friends may call at Parkside Funeral Home Monday from 9:30 a.m until the time of serivce. There will be no Sunday evening visitation. ELSIE FREDRICH Mrs. Elsie Fredrich, 85, a resident of Heritage Nursing Center, and formerly of 2521 Saemann Ave., died at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital Sunday following a short illness. She was the widow of Paul. The former Elsie Rehwaldt, she was born in Sheboygan, Oct. 22, 1889, a daughter of the late Oscar and Marie Rehwaldt. On July 25, 1911, she married Mr. Fredrich. He died in 1964. She was a meber if Ebenezer United Church of Christ, its Dorcas Circle and Sheboygan West Suburban Homemakers. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, sister and two brothers. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nickel's Funeral Home, the Rev. Ruben Grosshuesch, pastor of Ebenezer UCC, officiating. FREDRICK FREDRICH Youth Is Laid To Rest Following Services Saturday Funeral services for Fredrick William Fredrich, 13 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fredrich, who passed away Wednesday at his hom on the Upper Falls road, were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Ballhorn Funeral temple. The Rev. Louis Berndt officiated, and burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Manitowoc. During services, Mrs. C.H. Kurtz sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus"; Mrs. L.D. Bernde and Mrs. W. DeVoy sang "Some Day He'll Make it Plain"; and the three singers formed a trio to sing "Asleep in Jesus." Pallbearers were Harvey N. PAUL W. FREDRICH Paul W. Fredrich, 78, a resident of Sunny Ridge Home, Sheboygan, the past few months, died unexpectedly late Tuesday morning after an apparent heart attack. He formerly resided at 2521 Saemann Ave., Sheboygan. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Nickel’s Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave., Sheboygan, the Rev. Ruben Grosshuesch officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Fredrich was born in Manitowoc County April 30, 1886, son of the late William and Mary Fredrich. On July 25, 1911, he married the former Elsie Rehwaldt of Sheboygan. They resided at Chicago and in 1912 the couple moved to Sheboygan where Fredrich was in partnership with Beutel Bros. coaster wagon works for several years. From 1936 to 1942 he served as Town Clerk and later served as Federal Income Tax Officer at Manitowoc and Sheboygan. The past two years he was an income tax consultant out of his home. He was a member of the Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Sheboygan, and was a member of the Brotherhood Society. He is survived by his wife. A son preceded him in death. CLARENCE W. FREDRICK Clarence W. Fredrick, 67, of 1119 S. 12th St., Manitowoc, died Friday morning at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. William Schultz will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Fredrick was born Nov. 24, 1906, at Ontonagon, Mich., son of the late David and Mary Anderson Fredrick. He came to Wisconsin in 1931. He married Lucille Wenndorf Dec. 31, 1930, at Manitowoc, where they resided. He had been employed as a foreman in the pipefitting department at Mirro Aluminum Co., Manitowoc, from 1931 to 1971. He was a member of Manitowoc Masonic Lodge No. 65, F & A.M., and Manitowoc Chapter No. 16, R.A.M. He was a past master of the lodge and served on the board of trustees. Mrs. Fredrick preceded him in death in 1965. Survivors include a daughter, (private); two brothers, Theodore, of Lombard, Ill., and Howard, of Ashland; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth) Luedeke, of Milwaukee and three grandsons. BERTHA M. FREE Mrs. Bertha M. Free, 99, a lifelong Manitowoc County resident, died Saturday afternoon, August 23, 1986 at Park Lawn Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Tuesday at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Bruce McKenney and Rev. Lyle Luchterhand will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Free, nee Mrs. Bertha Marie Hecker, was born July 25, 1987 in the Town of Liberty, daughter of the late Herman and Louisa Maas Hecker. She married Charles Free on November 11, 1908, in the town of Newton. He preceded her in death May 30, 1951. Survivors include a son and a daughter-in-law, Elmer H. and Bernice Free of Two Rivers; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mrs. Hilda Wagner of Manitowoc and Anita and Roland Klessig of Manitowoc; seven grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. CHARLES F. FREE Carl (sic) F. Free, 65, of route 4, Manitowoc, town of Manitowoc Rapids farmer, died Wednesday morning of a heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Armin Roekle will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Free was born in Liberty in 1885 and in 1908 married Miss Bertha Hecker. They located on a farm in Manitowoc Rapids. ELMER H. FREE Elmer H. Free, age 92, formerly of 2019 Jefferson St., Two Rivers, died Sunday morning, April 29, 2007, at Manitowoc County Health Care Center. Elmer was born July 16, 1914, in the town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late Charles and Bertha (Hecker) Free. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1932, and attended Manitowoc Business College graduating in 1933. On Nov. 30, 1935, he married Dorothy Kluczinski. She preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 1971. He then married Bernice (Michalkiewicz) Ebel on Dec. 29, 1973. She preceded him in death June 9, 2004. Elmer worked at Worel Hardware Company for several years; J.J. Stangel Hardware Company for over 20 years; retiring from Paragon Electric in 1982. He enjoyed wood carving and playing cards. Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law: Elmer F. and Lila Free Jr., Harlan R. Free, Leroy C. and Diane Free, Dan R. and Diane Free, all of Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law: Janice and Bruce Matte, Manitowoc; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister: Anita Klessig, Newton. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son: Jerome Free; one granddaughter: Sandra; one sister: Hilda Wagner; two brothers-in-law: Floyd Wagner and Roland Klessig. ERHARDT H. FREE Erhardt H. Free, age 87, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, entered eternal life Thursday morning, September 13, 2012 at the care center. Erhardt was born on October 6, 1924 in the town of Newton, Manitowoc County. He was the son of the late George and Emma Hecker Free. Erhardt attended Trinity Lutheran School in the town of Liberty. He entered the United States Army and served overseas in the Philippines as a Military Police Sergeant. After his honorable discharge Erhardt returned home and went to carpenter apprentice training school. He then became employed with various local construction companies retiring from Burge Boat Company in 1983. On May 20, 1967 Erhardt married Elaine Vreeke at First Lutheran Church Chapel in Manitowoc. Erhardt was a long time member of First Lutheran Church and served as a volunteer with the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department. He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Elaine; one daughter and son-in-law: Julie and Mike Donahue, Manitowoc, WI; three step children: Barbara Grandoe, Milwaukee, WI; Richard (Sheryl) Vreeke, Lynden, WA; Jeanie Kealey, Austin, TX; five step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren; one brother-in-law: Henry Carmody, Manitowoc, WI; one sister-in-law: Helen Free, Manitowoc, WI; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Emma Free; two brothers: Erwin and his wife Margaret Free; Harold Free; one sister: Evelyn Carmody; one grandson: Travis Rauen. HENRY FREE Henry Free ?????, died early Monday ??? at the homestead in Manitowoc Rapids following a lingering illness. JEROME H. FREE Jerome Free Dies in Crash MANITOWOC—Jerome H. Free, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer H. Free, 820 N. 42nd St., died Saturday at New Orleans, La., of injuries received in a motorcycle accident. Free had been residing at 1629 Melpomene Ave., New Orleans, and had been employed by Gulf Engineering Co. as a machinist the last year. Free was born June 10, 1941 at Manitowoc, son of Elmer H. and Dorothy Kluczinski Free. He attended Manitowoc public schools and was graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959. He entered the U.S. Army June 16, 1959, and was discharged June 8, 1962, after serving in the Canal Zone. He is survived by his parents, four brothers, (private) and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Charles Free of Rt. 3, Manitowoc. JORDAN S. FREE Jordan S. Free, 4 months, of 1115 S. 20th Street, Manitowoc, died Monday morning, February 4, 1991, at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. EDGAR O. FREEMAN Edward (sic) Freeman, former resident of this city and an engineer on the old Lakeshore & Western Ry., which since has been absorbed by the C. & N.W. Ry., died at his home in Kaukauna Thursday at the age of seventy-six years. He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Hugo Weisenbach and two grandchildren, with whom he made his home since the death of his wife in this city many years ago. LETA FREEMAN Leta Schmitz Freeman, age 94, formerly of 1410 Johnston Drive, and Shady Lane Nursing Home, Manitowoc, died Saturday, December 18, 1993, at the Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. She was employed at the American Can Company of Chicago as a bookkeeper and later at the Lakecrest Furniture Company, of which her husband and herself owned. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. EDMUND OLIVER FREIBERG Edmund O. Freiberg, 76, of 216 East Park View Lane, Manitowoc, died Sunday afternoon, March 19, 1989 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. Jeff VandenHeuvel and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Freiberg was born May 24, 1912 at Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, son of the late Albert and Bertha Freiberg. He moved to Manitowoc in 1937 where he married the former Ruth Geisler, May 15, 1939. She preceded him in death October 9, 1963. He then married Marian Zipperer Lamach, October 14, 1967, at Manitowoc. Prior to retiring he was Regional Sales Manager for the Mail Pouch Tobacco Company for many years. During the summer months he and his wife resided at their summer home at Hayward, Wisconsin, where he was a licensed fishing guide. Mr. Freiberg was a member of Holy Innocents Parish. FRED FREIBOTH Fred Freiboth, 82, of 1433 N. Sixth St., Manitou Manor, Manitowoc, died Friday morning at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. Agnes was born May 28, 1907, at Duck Creek, Brown county, Wis., daughter of the late Albert and Martha Weber Neuman. She grew up and was educated in the Green Bay area, graduating from West High School with the class of 1926. After graduating from high school, Agnes moved to Manitowoc where she lived most of her life. She was employed at Mirro Aluminum Company for 26 years, retiring in 1956. Agnes married Bernard Freimuth on October 11, 1956 at Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death in July of 1976. Agnes was a charter member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church and a former member of the Ladies Aide Society. HELEN MARY (WELCH) FREIS Helen Mary (Welch) Freis, age 84, of North Ridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center, and formerly of 1414 N. 23rd St., Manitowoc, went to her "bed in heaven" (her words) on Monday, Aug. 8, 2005 surrounded by the love of her family. Helen was born 100 percent Irish on Aug. 3, 1921 to the late Thomas and Nora Buckley Welch. She happily walked from the family farm to St. Patricks' Grade School in Maple Grove. She graduated from Reedsville High School in 1939. In 1942, she graduated from Holy Family School of Nursing in Manitowoc,and worked for the next 41 years as a registered nurse at Holy Family, St. Nicholas in Sheboygan, Lakeshore Technical College, and St. Mary's Home for the Aged. On Oct. 24, 1942, she married Waldemar Ernst Freis in Maple Grove. Helen served God patiently as wife, mother, grandmother, stepgrandmother, sister, daughter, registered nurse, devout Catholic, dancer, bicyclist, life-long student, club member and friend to countless people. Her vibrant love of learning kept her continually involved in organizations. Among them Friendly 149'ers and Manitowoc based Homemaker Clubs, Christian Mothers, St. Wendel choir, Peer counseling, and Fortune Finders (an investment club she joined at age 70). She was a member of St. Wendel Church in Cleveland, and later Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. At age 56 in 1978, she earned a baccalaureate degree in Health Arts from the The College of St. Francis, Joliet, Ill. Helen and her husband of 57 years were well known as dancers. They started dancing in the early 1940s; their last dance was three days before her stroke. Helen and Wally enjoyed many years of travel around the world, and their favorite destination was Hawaii. Survivors include seven children; 15 granchildren; and stepchildren (private); also many neieces, nephews, other relatives and friends surviving. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, only sister, five brothers, and a daughter: Lori Maureen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. WALDEMAR ERNST FREIS Waldemar (Wally) E. Freis, age 87, of 1414 N. 23rd St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday, December 8, 1999. He was surrounded by praying family while Big Band music played. The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Freis, will be celebrated by Rev. Gerald Foley, on Monday, December 13, 1999, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Wally was born April 27, 1912, to Friedrich Ernst and Maria Margaretha (Luckow) Freis. He graduated from Pleasant Hill, a one-room school, and attended eighth grade twice when high school was not an option. On October 24, 1942, he married Helen Mary Welch, in Maple Grove, they then took over the Freis family farm. He farmed until 1975. He had a great sense of humor and used it well in public speaking. His people- skills shone as chairman of Lake to Lake's Fact-Finding Committee and Incorporator of Lake to Lake Dairy Co-op. He also was president of Lakeland Egg Co-op and a charter member of Cleveland Lions Club, where his roles included director, president and zone chairman. He was an Incorporator, and for 15 years a fieldman, for the Wisconsin Feeder Pig Marketing Co-op, Francis Creek. He was also a rural mail carrier, three years for the United States Post Office, and 14 years for the Lakeshore Chronicle. In 1987 he wrote his memoirs and continually updated them. Wally and his wife of 57 years were well-known dancers and lovers of Big Band music, dancing their last dance together on November 7, 1999. She was a former member of the Lamplights Dance Group. Irene enjoyed fishing, dancing and playing cards. One of her greatest loves was baking Bohemian Kolaches for her family. He married Myrtle Martin June 7, 1911, at Menominee, Mich. and the couple located at Seymour until 1917, when it moved to Manitowoc. Mr. French had been employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., from 1917 until 1957 when he retired. He was a member of the Odd Fellows since 1942 and served as past noble grande, past chief patriarch, and a trustee. KENNETH V. FRENCH Kenneth V. French, 59, of Route 1, Whitelaw, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 30, at his residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Wiliam Plank will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. French was born Feb. 5, 1922, at Manitowoc, son of the late Earl and Myrtle Martin French. He attended Manitowoc schools and was graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1939. He was a veteran of World War II. He entered the United States Army Air Force in 1942, was stationed in the European Theater of Operations as a flight officer and was discharged in 1945. He married Mary E. Fetzer June 20, 1968, at Maple Grove. Mr. French was a structural iron worker by trade and a member of Reedsville Sportsmans Club. Survivors include his wife, Mary, and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lola Andrews of Tallahassee, Fla., and Marge and Charles Holly of Michigan. MYRTLE M. FRENCH Mrs. Myrtle M. French, 89, formerly of 850 N. 11th St., Manitowoc, died Sunday afternoon in Maple Crest Nursing Home, Whitelaw. Mrs. French, nee Myrtle Martin, was born July 19, 1888 in Greenleaf, Wis., daughter of the late James and Abbie Ellis Martin. She attended schools in Rose Lawn, Wis. She was married to Earl R. French June 7, 1911, in Menomonie, Wis. The couple moved to Manitowoc later. He preceded her in death in 1970. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc, and a member of the ladies aid and the calendar club. HILARY A. FREUND Hilary A. Freund, 74, of 1413 S. Ninth St., Manitowoc, died Sunday morning at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. IRENE O. FREUND Mrs. Hilary (Irene) Freund, 72, of 1413 S. Ninth St., Manitowoc died early Monday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Mrs. Freund, nee Irene Ziebell, was born March 25, 1904, at Hilbert, daughter of the late Charles F. and Bettha A. Saeger Ziebell. She lived in the Manitowoc area most of her life and was married to Hilary Freund Sept. 30, 1922, at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, by the Rev. Karl Machmiller. She was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church Ladies Aid Society of the church, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Manitowoc Homemakers Club. JAMES A. FREUND James Freund Dies of Traffic Wreck Injuries (snip) James E. Freund, 20, of 1506 Kuhl St., Manitowoc, died about 7 a.m. in Two Rivers Municipal Hospital of injuries received in an accident early Sunday morning at the junction of Highway 147 and County Trunk VV a short distance north of the city limits. Death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage resulting from a skull fracture. He never regained consciousness. MARY FREUND Mrs. Oscar Freund, 88, of Manitowoc, died Tuesday evening at Family Heritage Nursing Home, Manitowoc. Mrs. Freund was born Dec. 26, 1880, in Town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine Genpha Kautzer. She was married to Oscar Freund March 22, 1899, after which the couple farmed at Eaton until moving to Manitowoc in 1920. Her husband preceded her in death, Dec. 18, 1944. OSCAR FREUND Oscar O. Freund, 67, of 728 South 16th street, died early today at the Holy Family hospital. He had been in failing health for three years. Mr. Freund was born in Rantoul, Wis., in 1877 and in 1899, married Miss Mary Kautzer. They located on a farm in Eaton, this county. Twenty five years ago they moved to this city where Mr. Freund was employed for years by the Aluminum Goods company. Survivors are his wife; daughter, Mrs. Edward Sporer, of this city; three sons, Hilary and Wilfred of this city, Orman of Minneapolis; brother, August Schwalbe, of this city; three sisters, Mrs. C. F. Maertz, of Milwaukee, Mrs. Arnold Marsch, of Reedsville, Mrs. Walter Mathes, of New Holstein, and nine grandchildren. WILFRED FREUND Wilfred O. Freund, 69, of 2723-31st St., Two Rivers, died unexpectedly late Thursday night at home. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Arno J. Wolfgramm will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Freund was born Feb. 18, 1911, in the Town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, son of the late Oscar and Mary Kautzer Freund. He moved to Manitowoc at the age of eight years, attended local schools and was graduated from Lincoln High School in 1930. He lived in Manitowoc until 1976, when he moved to Two Rivers. He married Wilma Thornton Nov. 30, 1930, at Belvedere, Ill. Mr. Freund worked for Rahr Malting and Anheuser Busch Inc. for 40 years, retiring in 1974. He was a lifelong member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, former member of the local Barbershoppers and a charter member of Memorial Hospital Association. Survivors include his wife, Wilma, a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Robert Orth of Manitowoc and nieces and nephews. WILLIAM H. FREUND William H. Freund, age 58, of 1716 Wisconsin Ave., Manitowoc, died Sunday, August 30, 1992, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 1992, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Glenn H. Unke officiating, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. He was born December 8, 1933, at Manitowoc, son of the late Hilary and Irene Ziebell Freund. He grew up in Manitowoc, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1952. He worked at the Schuette Construction Co., the Bahr Construction Co., retiring from the DeBarking Division of the Manitowoc Co. in August of 1991. He enjoyed fishing and spending summers at his cottage at Pigeon Lake, Wis. He was married to Dorothy A. Komorosky on January 5, 1957, in Manitowoc. He is a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the Manitowoc Eagles Aerie No. 706. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Todd W. Freund, Manitowoc, Jeffrey J. WILMA A. FREUND Wilma A. Freund, age 93, of 1901 Waldo Blvd, Manitowoc, died Friday afternoon, October 16, 1998, at River's Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc. The former Wilma Thornton was born on February 12, 1905, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Frank and Anna Hamel Thornton. LILLIAN A. FREY Little One is Dead Illness Follows Accident at Fair and Baby Fails to Survive Illness, said to be pneumonia, following an accident in which she was severely burned by hot lard, caused the death of the three year old Lillian Frey, the demise occurring early today. The child was badly burned when a pail of hot lard was overturned onto her lower limbs at the Fairgrounds Wednesday and death resulted. The child was a daughter of Andrew Frey who conducts a booth at the fairgrounds and the family had been guests at the Green Bay House where the death occurred. A report that an autopsy would be held on the body cannot be confirmed.
