KELLY JEAN KOENIGS Funeral services for Kelly Jean Koenigs, infant daughter of Peter and Sue Ann Koenigs, R. 1, New Holstein were held at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel United Methodist Church in the town of Schleswig. The Rev. Lorene Iwakiri, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. The Koenigs infant was born Monday at Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton and died Thursday at St. Vincents Hospital in Green Bay. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Watts, Burlington, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Koenigs, R. 1, New Holstein. ELMER C. KRAEMER Elmer C. Kraemer, age 89, formerly of Ada and currently a resident of the Calumet Homestead in New Holstein, died Monday May 30, 2005 at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born in the Town of Russell on Sept. 4, 1915, a son of the late John A. and Anna (Schuricht) Kraemer. Elmer was a 1933 graduate of Elkhart Lake High School. On Sept. 20, 1943, Hilda L. Huber and Elmer C. Kraemer were united in marriage at Madelyn Island, WI. Elmer was inducted into the U.S. Army in February of 1945, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and honorably discharged on Aug. 22, 1946. Elmer had been a salesperson for the Fuller Brush Company and later was employed at Hingiss Implement in Kiel as well as working in the construction trade for many years. He retired from the Hayssen Manufacturing Company in 1980 after working there for over 20 years. In his retirement years, Elmer had a hobby farm in the town of Meeme. He enjoyed raising steers, planting trees and his pride was a pond that he constructed on the farm. He was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ in Ada where he had been active on various duties and serving as bell ringer. Surviving Elmer is his wife Hilda; one son, two daughters, four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and three step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a step-sister-in-law. Elmer was preceded in death by his step Mother, Clara Fett-Kraemer, one sister, Mathilda, 1 step-sister, Marion Schmidt, a brother, Erwin and a step-brother, Eugene Kraemer. GEORGE KREIMAN George H. Kreiman, 98, a retired Town of Schleswig farmer, died early Tuesday at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient five days. He had resided at the Sheboygan Retirement Home since September, 1970. He was born August 11, 1875 in Schleswig, a son of the late William and Augusta Basta Kreiman. On November 30, 1899 he married Hulda Gensch at Bethel United Methodist church, rural Kiel. After marriage the couple moved to the Kreiman homestead farm, which they operated until retirement in 1938. Mr. Kreiman was a lifelong member of Bethel church, a former church trustee and teacher and superintendent of the church's Sunday School. The couple observed their 60th wedding anniversary in 1959. His wife died on January 24, 1966. Survivors are a son, Reuben of Sheboygan; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A son, Raymond, preceded him in death in 1932. Two sisters and two brothers also preceded. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, at Bethel Church, rural Kiel. The Reverend David Sharpe, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, rural Kiel. A memorial fund for the Sheboygan Retirement Home has been established in Mr. Kreiman's name.


HULDA KREIMAN Mrs. George Kreiman, 86, of R. 2, Kiel, Town of Schleswig, died at Toth Nursing Home, Chilton, Monday evening. She had been a resident of the home for several weeks. The former Hulda Gensch, she was born Feb. 9, 1879, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederich Gensch, in the town of Schleswig. Following her marriage on Nov. 30, 1899, at Bethel Methodist Church, rural Kiel, to George Kreiman, they operated the Kreiman homestead in the town of Schleswig. They retired in 1938, but continued to live in the township. Mrs. Kreiman was a member of Bethel Methodist Church and the Women’s Society of Christian Service of the church. The couple observed their 66th wedding anniversary in November 1965. Surviving are her husband; a son, Reuben, R. 2, Kiel, and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a son, Raymond, in 1932. Funeral services will be held at Bethel Church with the Rev. Horace A. Graubner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Sheboygan Press, January 25, 1966


OTTO KREIMAN Otto M. Kreimann, Native of Town of Schleswig, Stricken Kiel—Otto M. Kreimann, 60, resident of Chicago and native of the town of Schleswig, died suddenly of a heart attack Monday afternoon at Chicago. Mr. Kreimann was stricken at the Chicago post office where he had been a mail clerk and an employee of the postal savings department for the past 32 years. Mr. Kreimann was born in the town of Schleswig, Manitowoc County, July 11, 1878, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Kreimann. He attended the district school in the township and later Kiel High School where he was graduated in 1897. He taught school in the vicinity for a number of years before going to Chicago. A week ago, Mr. Kreimann visited his brother, George Kreimann, on the homestead farm in the town of Schleswig. Besides his brother, George, Mr. Kreimann is survived by another brother, Theodore in Detroit, Mich., and by two sisters, Mrs. Ernst (Frieda) Gensch of Omro and Mrs. August (Johanna) Preiser, Milwaukee. The body will be brought to Kiel via train, arriving Wednesday evening and will be removed to the C. J. Meiselwitz funeral home where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. At 2 p.m. services will be conducted at the Methodist church in Meggers, near Kiel. The Rev. O. C. ARMIN R. KREIMANN New Holstein Man Dies Unexpectedly Armin R. Kreimann, age 73, New Holstein died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services were held Saturday at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ with Rev. Vernon Jaberg officiating. Burial was in the Bethel cemetery, at Meggars. He was born June 3, 1890, in the Town of Schleswig, a son of the late Edward and Emma Schilling Kreimann. On November 22, 1916, he married the former Laura Rosenbauer of the Town of Schleswig at Bethel Methodist Church at Megggars. The couple resided at New Holstein, where Mr. Kreimann was employed at the Lauson Engine Division of Tecumseh Products. They moved to Sheboygan in 1922 and he worked for the Jenkins Machine Co. until 1933 when they moved back to New Holstein and he was employed by the H. G. Weber Co. of Kiel. In 1940 he returned to the Lauson firm until his retirement in 1955. He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Kiel, and of the Pilgrim Rest Cemetery Association at Meggars. The couple celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in 1961. AUGUSTA KREIMANN Funeral services for the late Mrs. William Kreimann, of the town of Schleswig, whose death was caused by the infirmities of old age and a general breakdown on Thursday of last week, were held on Monday afternoon from the farm home, to the German M. E. church of Meggers. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery, with Rev. Kraemer in charge. The deceased, whose maiden name was Augusta Johanna Baster, was born in Suko, by Teterow, Mecklenberg Schwerin, Germany on September 30, 1848. She came to America in 1863. Her marriage to Mr. Kreimann took place on April 14, 1868, of which union five children were born. The couple has lived on the homestead during their entire married life. Deceased was respected and admired by neighbors and friends who feel that the community has sustained a great loss in her death and whose sympathy goes out to the bereft family. She was a devout member of the German M. E. church congregation. Mrs. Kreimann is survived by her husband and the following children: three sons, Geo. living near Kiel, Otto of Chicago, Ill,; Theodore of Kenosha; and two daughters, Mrs. Frieda Gensch of Omro; and Mrs. Johanna Prieser of Milwaukee, all of whom were present at the funeral. There are also six grandchildren. The last rites were largely attended. EDWARD KREIMANN Notes from Schleswig: Mr. Edward Kreimann, an old resident of our town, passed away at his home December 27. He was sick for a year with Bright's disease. Mr. Kreimann was getting along fairly well all summer till the cold weather set in. Then he took a change for the worse. Deceased was born at New Holstein June 7, 1865. A year later he came to Schleswig with his parents, where he was raised and lived until his death. On March 14, 1889 he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Schilling, who with four children survive him. The children are: Armin, married and living at New Holstein, Leland, Harry and Lilly at home. One brother, August of Hitchcock, South Dakota also survives him. Mr. Kreimann was school treasurer for 22 years and also was director of the Schleswig Telephone company for many years. He was a good man and neighbor, a kind father and well liked by all who knew him. He reached the age of 52 years, 6 months and 20 days. The funeral took place Monday, December 31 from the Methodist Church at Meggers, Pastor Elske officiated. EMMA KREIMANN After an illness of several months' durations, Mrs. Emma Kreimann passed away at her home at 1030 4th St., this city, early Friday morning. The deceased was born July 20, 1865, in the town of Schleswig, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Schilling. On Mar. 14, 1889, she was united in marriage with Edward Kreimann. The couple made their home on a farm in the town of Schleswig until 1934, when they moved to this city. Survivors include two sons, Leland of Manitowoc, and Armin of New Holstein; a daughter, Lily at home; three sisters, Mrs. Louisa Wieting of Redfield, S.D., Mrs. William Kuhn of Elkhart Lake, and Mrs. William Zick of Chicago; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her husband, and a son, Harry, preceded her in death. Funeral services took place Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the M.K. Bethel church at Meggers, with Rev. Clarence Becker officiating. Burial was made in the Pilgrims' Rest cemetery adjoining the church. Born July 20, 1865, in the town of Schleswig, the deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Schilling. She was married to Edward Kriman on March 14, 1889. The couple made their home on a farm in the town of Schleswig until 1934 when they moved to Kiel. Survivors are a daughter, Miss Lily Kriman, at home; two sons, Lelan, Manitowoc, and Armin, New Holstein; six grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Her husband and one son, Harry; preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Megger Bethel Methodist church. The Rev. Clarence Becker, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be made in the adjoining Pilgrim's Rest cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Meiselwitz Funeral home, Kiel, from Sunday noon until 11 a.m. Monday, and may be viewed at the church from Monday noon until the time of the services. HEINERICH KREIMANN Heinrich Kreimann died at the home of his son in the town of Charlestown on Tuesday, June 11 from a stroke. He had been in very poor health for the past few weeks and had only recently left his home in the village to live with his son. He was born April 11, 1838 in Mecklenburg Schwerin, Germany and came to America in 1838,(sic) settling on a farm near New Holstein. Later he moved to this village where he was postmaster for 16 years. In 1862 he was married to Wilhelmine Kruse who died eight years ago. Five children were born to them: Wilhelm who is dead, Herman, Ferdinand, Mrs. Louise Gau, Mrs. Emma Meggers, and Mrs. Bertha Hajenga. Besides those mourning his loss he leaves 1 brother, 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The funeral was held Thursday, June 13th and the interment place in the Town of Schleswig, Rev. LILY KREIMANN Miss Lily Kreimann, 86, a New Holstein resident, died Tuesday afternoon at Family Heritage Nursing Home, Manitowoc, where she had lived the past three years. She was born Oct. 23, 1891, in the Town of Schleswig, a daughter of Edward and Emma Schilling Kreimann. She attended district schools. Miss Kreimann was employed at the K & R Restaurant in New Holstein until retirement. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, a former church choir member and Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Eaton Ladies Aid. Survivors are nieces and nephews. Three brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Peter UCC, the Rev. John F. Baumann, pastor, officiating. Burial will be Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Town of Schleswig. Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and until 11 a.m. Friday and at the church from noon Friday until the time of service???? LORA J. KREIMANN Mrs. Lora Kreimann, 78, of Route 2, New Holstein, widow of Armin, died February 4 at Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton. She had been a patient there for the past two weeks. Born November 10, 1896, in the Town of Schleswig, a daughter of the late Fred and Mary Steuven Rosenbauer, she attended district schools in the township. On November 22, 1916, she was married to Mr. Kreimann at Bethel United Methodist Church in the Town of Schleswig. The couple resided in New Holstein, then moved to Sheboygan, and in 1936 they moved back to New Holstein. He died on February 19, 1964. Mrs. Kreimann was instrumental in founding the K and H Lunch and Motel in New Holstein. She also provided a home for foster children. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel, and the Eaton Ladies Aid. Surviving are a daughter, and a foster child, two granddaughters, four sisters, Mrs. Anita Jochmann of New Holstein, Mrs. Hulda Quante of Withee, Miss Mary Rosenbauer and Mrs. Milton Broeker both of Kiel; and two brothes(sic), Werner of Osman and Frederick of New Holstein. Funeral services were held Friday at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel, with the Reverend John F. Baumann, pastor, officiating. RAYMOND E. KREIMANN Ray E. Kreimann, 31, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Kreimann of New Holstein, passed away at St. Luke’s hospital at Milwaukee Sunday, January 2, after a sudden attack of pneumonia. He had enjoyed a visit at the home of his parents with his wife over Christmas, and shortly after was taken ill. He was born October 8, 1900 on a farm in the town of Schleswig, where he grew to manhood. He attended the district and Sunday schools and later enrolled in the Kiel high school, graduating with the class of 1926. Completing a course at the Appleton Business College he accepted a position with A. J. Lindemann and Hoverson Co. at Milwaukee as accountant, where he remained until his untimely death. He was held in high esteem by his employers and fellow workers who frequently referred to him as “Ray” of sunshine. He was united in marriage October 30, 1926, to Miss Anita Altenberger, who mourns his loss. Besides his parents, he is also mourned by one brother, Reuben. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 from the home of his parents, at New Holstein, the Rev. C. H. Hoffmann of Brillion performing the last rites. SOPHIA KREIMANN (d. 1911) Notes From Schleswig: On Thursday afternoon Mrs. John Kreimann was buried at the Methodist Congregation cemetery. Mrs. Keimann's death was due to old age. She was one of our pioneers. She and her husband settled here in 1865. There were six children born to the couple, three boys and three girls of whom four have died. Her husband died in the year 1874. In 1889 she sold her farm to her son Edward where she lived ever since. She died last Sunday morning and was buried as stated above Thursday afternoon. She leaves two sons, August of S. Dakota and Edward on the old homestead and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Kreimann was 75 years and 6 months old. Pastor Schmidt officiated. WILHELMINE KREIMANN (d. 1903) New Holstein – On Wednesday of last week Mrs. John (sic) Kreimann fell and fractured her shoulder blade. She suffered such severe pain that death came as a relief on Saturday. The funeral took place at 12:30 o’clock on Tuesday, the remains being taken to the church and thence to the cemetery at Schleswig for burial. ALLEN C. LEVERENZ Allen C Leverenz, 93, formerly of New Holstein, died Wednesday evening, September 12, 2007 at Calumet Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein. He was born September 7, 1914 in the Town of Charlestown, son of the late Orin and Katie Persohn Leverenz. Allen attended Lowell Country School and was a graduate of New Holstein High School. On October 6, 1938 he married Lydia Tamm at Bethel United Methodist Church. Allen farmed in the Town of Charlestown retiring on December 7, 1979. After retirement he continued to remain active farming. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, a member of the County Board for 25 years, Town Board of Charlestown for many years and the New Holstein Masonic Lodge. Allen was a member of the Order Eastern Star where he was the Worthy Patron for 35 years. He enjoyed playing dartball, for many years he was a member of the Calumet County Farm Bureau and the New Holstein Men’s Chorus. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lydia of New Holstein, two children; Fredrick (Edith) Leverenz, rural New Holstein; Barbara (Gerald) Schulz, Plymouth; eight grandchildren. Feldt officiating and interment was made in the cemetery at Meggers. Charles Christian Leverenz was born at Charlestown, Sept, 27, 1864 and grew to young manhood in that vicinity. On November 8, 1888, he was united in marriage with Miss Alma Reichert, who preceded him in death by fifteen years. Since the time of her death, Mr. Leverenz had made his home with a son, Orin, at Meggers and passed away there Friday morning after a brief illness. He is survived by his son, Orin, two brothers, William of Waldo and George of New Holstein; three sisters, Mrs. Gust Weber of New Holstein, Mrs. Emma Reichert of Meggers and Miss Lizzie Leverenz of Kiel. JOACHIM LEVERENZ DEATH OF FATHER OF MR. LEVERENZ Father of Superintendent of Schools Passes Away at His Home in New Holstein This Morning. Johan Lexerenz (sic), father of Superintendent Leverenz, passed away this morning at 1:30 at his home in New Holstein after a lingering illness. Mr. Leverenz was a pioneer of New Holstein having lived there since a boy. He was born in Germany coming to this country with his parents. He was 77 years of age and is survived by his wife and seven children: H.F. Leverenz, Sheboygan; George, Mrs. Gustave Weber, Mrs. Jacob Reichardt, William and Elizabeth, all of New Holstein. The funeral arrangements have not been completed but interment will be made in the New Holstein cemetery. KATIE LEVERENZ Katie A. Leverenz, 97, of 439 W. Charlesburg Rd., Town of New Holstein, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 1989, at the home of her son, Allen Leverenz, from a lingering illness. She was born May 9, 1891, in the town of Brillion, daughter of the late Carl and Augusta (Degner) Persohn. On March 26, 1913, she married Orin Leverenz at Brillion. She preceded her in death April 23, 1970. She farmed with her husband in the Town of Charlestown until retiring in 1948 when she moved to the Town of New Holstein. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church was and was a member of W.S.C.S. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Lydia Leverenz, rural New Holstein; and Milford and Gertrude Leverenz, Plymouth; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren. Five sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at Bethel United Methodist Church, Town of Schleswig. Burial was in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery. LIZZIE C. LEVERENZ Miss Elizabeth Caroline Leverenz, 82, of 2001 Wisconsin Ave., New Holstein, died early today at her home. Born in Town Charlestown of Feb. 3, 1876, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jochim Leverenz, and attended Lowell School in the area. Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Gustav (Emily) Weber of Appleton and 17 nieces and nephews. Four brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death. She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church at Meggers where funeral services will be held. The Rev. Fred Thomas, acting pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery. LYDIA LEVERENZ Lydia M. Leverenz, 98, formerly of rural New Holstein and a resident at Oak Creek Assisted Living, Kiel, died Sunday morning December 5, 2010 at Calumet Medical Center Chilton. She was the former Lydia Tamm, born December 5, 1912 in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Edwin and Bertha (Wieting) Tamm. She was a graduate of Kiel High School and the Bellin School of Nursing. On October 6, 1938 she married Allen C. Leverenz at Bethel United Methodist Church. Lydia worked as an RN at the Plymouth Memorial Hospital for several years, she and Allen also farmed in the Town of Charlestown. Allen preceded her in death on September 12, 2007. Lydia was a very active member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, singing with her family and in the church choir. Lydia and Allen were also foster parents to two daughters. Survivors include her two children: Fredrick (Edith) Leverenz, rural New Holstein, Barbara (Gerald) Schulz. Plymouth, eight grandchildren: Loraine (David) Mueller, Christine (Paul) Wiltzius, Mary Jo Starkson, Andrew Leverenz, Paul (Julie) Leverenz, Debora (Jeff) Goeldi, Karl (Stefani) Leverenz & Thomas (Kris) Leverenz. She is further survived by 18 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; Allen, a daughter; Susan Leverenz, a brother; Charles (Hattie) Tamm, brother-in-law; Milford (Gertrude) Leverenz. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday December 9, 2010 at Meiselwitz- Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St, Kiel, with the Rev Donald Drollinger, pastor of Bethel United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in the Town of Schleswig. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00pm until the time of service. MINNIE LEVERENZ Mrs. Wilhelmina Leverenz, a former resident of this village, passed away at the St. Nicholas hospital, Sheboygan, Tuesday afternoon at six o’clock, while visiting her grandson, Clifford Weber who is a patient there. She had been with the patient but a few minutes when she complained of feeling uneasy about the chest and fainted away in a chair. She was placed in bed in an adjoining room where she died two hours later. Death was due to heart failure. Mrs. Leverenz was born February 9, 1840. In Germany and came to this country in 1860, settling on a farm in New Holstein. After having made her home there for thirty-five years, she moved to the village where she lived until three years ago when her husband died. Since that time she had resided at Sheboygan. On Feb. 2, 1861, she was united in marriage to Joachim Leverenz at Fond du Lac. The remains were brought to this village Thursday morning and placed in the German Methodist cemetery at Meggers. She was a faithful church member and even after moving to New Holstein she in company with her husband drove out to Meggers to attend church. Survivors are four sons, H. F. Leverenz, Sheboygan, Charles and George, New Holstein, and William of Waldo, and three daughters, Mrs. Gustave Weber, Mrs. J. Reichardt, New Holstein, and Miss Lizzie at home. There is also one brother, Fred Bastian, Forest Junction, and one sister Mrs. William Schmidt, Kansas Calumet County Reporter, May 5, 1916


ORIN H. LEVERENZ Orin H. Leverenz, 80, of R. 1, New Holstein, a retired Calumet County farmer, died early today at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in the Town of Charlestown on Aug. 5, 1889, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Leverenz. He attended elementary and high school in New Holstein. On March 26, 1913 he married the former Katie Persohn at the Brillion Methodist Church. The couple farmed in the Town of Charlestown until their retirement. Mr. Leverenz was a member of Bethel Methodist Church, Meggers, and the New Holstein Masonic Lodge for 54 years, serving as worshipful master from 1932 to 1933. He held various offices in the church and Sunday School and served as chairman of the Town of Charlestown Board and was a supervisor in Calumet County for 10 years. Mr. Leverenz was a director of the Peoples State Bank, New Holstein, for 40 years, and served as a director of the Calumet Insurance Co. He and his wife observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1963. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Allen of R. 1, New Holstein and Milford of Plymouth; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Methodist Church, Meggers, with the Rev. Lorene Iwakiri, pastor, officiating . Burial will be in the church cemetery. LEVERENZ Susan M Leverenz, 45, of W420 Danes Road, New Holstein, died Wednesday evening, March 17, 1999 at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein, where she resided the past eleven weeks. She was born Sept. 9, 1895 in Kewaskum, foster daughter of Allen and Lydia Leverenz. She was a 1973 graduate of New Holstein High School. Susie was a laundry aid at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein, for the past 25 years. She enjoyed baking and knitting. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Meggers, Eastern Star Chapter 262, New Holstein, and Orders of Amaranth. Friendship Court 14, Plymouth. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. EDNA REICHARDT Rites Held Wednesday for Mrs. Milton Reichardt Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Milton Reichardt, 57, from the Bethel Methodist church. The Rev. Harry Stroessner will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Reichardt died suddenly Sunday evening. She had been in ill health for some time. The former Edna Timm was born in Schleswig October 27, 1897, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Timm. October 30, 1924, she was married to Milton Reichardt in the town of Charlestown, Calumet county. The couple operated a farm in the town until 1939, establishing residence in Kiel. Mrs. Reichardt was a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service and the Friendship Circle of the church. She had been a patient at the hospital since February when she suffered a fractured hip. Death resulted from a cerebral hemorrhage. She was born on the Leverenz homestead in the town of Charlestown June 14, 1872, the daughter of Jochim and Minnie Leverenz, and was married to Jacob Reichardt, of the town of Brillion, on April 8, 1897. The couple lived in the town of Brillion for five years, then moved to the Leverenz homestead. Mrs. Reichardt was a lifelong member of Bethel Methodist church at Meggers, a charter member of the church Ladies Aid, and first president and president for many years of the Ladies Aid. Survivors are two sons, Milton, of Kiel, and Nelson, on the homestead; one daughter, Mrs. John (Alma) Engels, of Buffalo Center, Ia.; eight grandchildren; two brothers, George Levenrenz, of New Holstein, and William Leverenz, of Waldo, and two sisters, Mrs. Gustave Weber and Miss Lizzie Leverenz, of New Holstein. Mr. Reichardt died April 24, 1922. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Methodist church at 2 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. Carroll Olm officiating, and burial will be in Pilgrim’s Rest cemetery adjoining the church. The body will lie in state at the Meiselwitz Funeral home in Kiel from Wednesday evening until 10 a.m. Thursday and at the church from 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of services. HATTIE E. REICHARDT Miss Hattie Reichert, aged 29, Calumet county school teacher, passed away at the Bellin Memorial hospital at Green Bay Sunday at 6 a.m. after a week’s illness from a lip infection. Miss Reichert had been attending the summer session at Oshkosh State Teachers’ College and would have received her bachelor of arts degree at the end of this week. Miss Reichert was born in the town of Charlestown, Calumet County, April 18, 1906, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Reichert. She attended the Lowell grade school and the local high school, from which she graduated in 1934. Later she attended the State Teachers’ college at Oshkosh for three years, after which she taught school in the town of Charlestown, at Mead school here, at Manitowoc, and for the past several years at Forest Junction. Miss Reichert was a member of the Epwoth League and was very active in league institute work, having served as registrar for a number of years. She was also a member of the Calumet Teachers’ Association. The Reichert family resided here until October, 1934, when Mrs. Reichert and her daughters Hattie and Alma moved to Green Bay. Miss Reichert is survived by her mother; two sisters, Mrs. Leonard Otto of Forest Junction, and Alma at Green Bay; and two brothers, Milton and Nelson, of the town of Charlestown. Funeral services were held Tuesday noon at 12 o’clock at the Grieser and Findesen Funeral Home at Green Bay and later at the Methodist Episcopal church at Meggers. The Rev. Reichardt of the town of Charleston passed away at his home at one o’clock Monday afternoon, April 24, at the age of fifty-three years, nine months and twelve days, following an illness of about two years, from cancer of the stomach. The deceased was born in Maple Grove, Manitowoc County, where he grew to manhood. On April 7, 1897, he was united in marriage at New Holstein to Miss Emma Leverenz, the happy couple making their home on a farm in the town of Maple Grove. Five years later they purchased the Leverenz homestead, a 143 acre farm in the town of Charlestown, where they have since resided for the past twenty years. Mr. Reichardt was a man possessed of a sunny disposition and beloved by all who knew him. His high standing in the neighborhood in which he lived and among all who knew him is a testimony of his true worth. He leaves to mourn his death, his widow, two sons, Milton and Nelson, and three daughters, Leona, Hattie and Alma. He is also survived by three brothers, Dave and George of Maple Grove, John of Brillion town, one sister, Mrs. Anna Schwartz of Maple Grove. MILTON REICHARDT Memorial services were held yesterday Wednesday, at Bethel United Methodist Church in Town Schleswig for Milton J. (Mike) Reichardt, 74, of 1011 Huron Avenue, Sheboygan, who died last week Friday. Born March 24, 1898, a native of the Town of Maple Grove, he was a son of the late Jacob A. and Emma Leveren Reichardt. October 24, 1924, he married Edna A. Timm. She died March 13, 1955. August 12, 1961, he married Virginia Meyer Burgard in Sheboygan. He farmed in the Town of Schleswig for many years and was employed at Stoelting Manufacturing Company before moving to Sheboygan in 1961. for the past ten years he was an employee of Spiller spring Company, retiring last..... CHRISTINE SCHILLING Mrs. Christina(sic) Schilling, and old-time and highly respected resident of the town of Schleswig, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, at 5:00 o'clock, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Schilling, after an illness of about two months. Decedent was born in Oelbronn, Oberamt Wurttemberg, Germany, April 15, 1844. She came to America when 13 years of age and supported herself first by working in Chicago and later in Milwaukee. In 1862 she was united in marriage to Mr. Philip Schilling of the town of Schleswig and the couple made their home on a farm 2-1/2 miles north of Kiel. Her husband died in 1877, and the farm was left to her and the children and with their aid she worked the farm till 1897, when she turned it over to her son Philip; she lived her remaining years with her son. Mrs. Schilling is survived by the following children: Louisa Wieting of Redfield, South Dakota, Mrs. Emma Kreimann and Philip Schilling of Schleswig, Carolina Kuhn of Elkhart Lake, and Lydia Zick of Kiel. Also 31 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren survive her. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. Moor of the Methodist Episcopal church officiating. Remains were buried in the Schleswig M. E. cemetery. - September 1923


ELECTA J. SCHILLING Mrs. Marvin A. Schilling, 63, Sun Prairie, died Wednesday in a St. Louis, Mo., hospital following a heart attack. Her husband was a pastor of the Plover and Buena Vista Methodist Church from 1940-1943. Mrs. Schilling, the former Electa Jean McClellan was born Sept. 1, 1912 in Noel Shore, Novia Scotia, New Brunswick, Canada and taught elementary school in Nova Scotia from 1933-1937. Then she taught in a mission school in Korea and was married there June 15, 1940 to the Rev. Mr. Schilling, a Bible and English teacher. After serving the Plover and Buena Vista Churches, the Rev. Mr. Schilling was a pastor in Oconto Falls - Lena, Beaver Dam, Wausau and Appleton. He was superintendent of the Watertown District of the Methodist Church from 1957-60 and of the Milwaukee District from 1966-72. Since then he has been program associate of the Wisconsin Conference and assistant to Bishop Jesse R. DeWitt. Mrs. Schilling was also active in the Methodist Church affairs. She had been a member of the General Church's Commission on Religion and Race since 1968 and a past member of the Wisconsin Conference Board on Christian Social Concerns. Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Donald, a professor at Dennison University, Granville, Ohio; David, a United Methodist minister in Milpitas, Calif.; and Dr. John of the Washington University Medical School in St. Louis. A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church, Sun Prairie at 3 pm Sunday. Schilling passed away at his home in this city Saturday noon. The deceased was born on the homestead farm in the town of Schleswig, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Schilling, Sr., on June 25, 1867. On Sept. 23, 1897 he took as his bride, Miss Minnie Zick. The couple settled in the town of Schleswig, and operated a farm. In August, 1926, they moved to this city, and their son, Clarence took possession of the homestead farm. For 8 years Mr. Schilling was employed in the Kiel Wooden Ware factory. Six children were born to the couple, and a daughter died in infancy. Surviving children are Mrs. John (Norma) Timm of Schleswig, Mrs. Elmer (Esther) Kloehn of Forest Junction, and Mrs. Charles (Hattie) Tamm of Manitowoc, Clarence Schilling on the homestead farm, and Rev. Marvin Schilling of Oconto Falls; four sisters, Mrs. Louise Wieting of Redfield, S.D., Mrs. Emma Kreimann of this city, Mrs. William Kuhn of Elkhart Lake, an Mrs. William Zick of Chicago. A brother preceded him in death. Five grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and at 2 o’clock at the Bethel Methodist church at Meggers. The Rev. Wendell Bennetts officiated. Burial was made in the Bethel cemetery. Mr. Schilling, a charter member of the Methodist church at Meggers, was very active in church work. He was a member of the official board, and of the board of trustees the greater part of his membership; church organist for 20 years; superintendent of the Sunday School for some time, and Lay leader. Pallbearers were Orin Leverenz, E. W. Tamm, George Kreimann, Clifford Weber, Henry Schmidt, and Edwin Wieting. Mr. Timm died at Memorial Hospital Saturday. He had been hospitalized for about three weeks. Prior to his fatal illness he had never known a sick day in his entire life. The services were conducted by the Rev. Victor Vriesen pastor of the church, and burial will be in the church cemetery. He was born at Three Rivers, Michigan, the son of Johann and Wilhelmina Leverenz-Timm. As a young boy he came with his parents to the vicinity of Kiel and settled on the farm which he operated after the death of his father. Following his marriage June 2, 1892, to Hannah Persohn of Brillion, he operated the homestead farm until 1927. They then moved to Kiel. In 1942 they observed their golden wedding anniversary, Mrs. Timm died March 9, 1944. Since then he had been making his home with his son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Milton Reichardt in Kiel. Survivors include three sons, namely: John, on the homestead farm; Melvin and Milton of Kiel; one daughter Mrs. Reichardt, two grandchildren, Sgt. JOHN TIMM (d. 1980) John A. Timm, 86, a former town of Schleswig resident, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 29, at Calumet Memorial Hosptial where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. Prior to hospitalization he resided at Calumet Homestead Nursing Home in New Holstein. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bethal (sic) Methodist Church, Kiel. The Pastor Barbara Miller will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Timm was born March 10, 1893, in the Town of Schleswig, son of the late Charles and Hanna Persohn Timm. He attended Woodland Park School in Schleswig. He married Norma Schilling, Dec. 8, 1926, at Bethel Methodist Church in Schlewig (sic). After they were married they farmed the Timm Homestead in Schleswig their entire life. Mr. Timm was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army, a member of Bethel Methodist Church in the Town of Schleswig. For many years he sang in the church choir, also for many years church cemetery. Mr. Timm was secretary of Sunday school, also a Kiel senior social. Survivors include his wife, a brother, Milton Timm of Kiel. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death. NORMA TIMM Norma K. Timm, 104, formerly of Kiel and a resident of Beaver Dam died Tuesday morning September 26, 2006 at Beaver Dam Care Center where she resided the past 5 years. She was the former Norma K. Schilling, born March 20, 1902 in the Town of Schleswig, daughter of the late Philip and Minnie Zick Schilling. Norma attended Woodland Park School in the Town of Schleswig. On December 8, 1926 she married John Timm at Bethel United Methodist Church, rural New Holstein. The couple farmed on the Timm homestead until their retirement. Her husband John preceded her in death on February 29, 1980. Norma was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church, rural New Holstein, (Meggers) where she sang in the church choir and also taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and local homemakers groups. Survivors include one brother, Rev. Marvin Schilling, Beaver Dam, nieces, nephews and friends. WILHELMINA TIMM Mrs. Wilhelmina Timm, 93, former resident of Kiel, who died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Heckert in Appleton, will be laid to rest Sunday. The funeral will be held at the Heckert home Sunday afternoon and later at the German Methodist church in the town of Schleswig, Manitowoc County. Rev. F. J. Hoffman of Brillion will officiate. ANNA WEBER New Holstein, Wis—(Special)—Mrs. Clifford Weber, 42, died Monday afternoon in the Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. She had been ill since early June and was taken to the hospital July 23. Mrs. Weber, nee Anna Fredericke Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Meyer, was born Sept. 23, 1895, in Charlestown. She attended the public schools here and graduated from New Holstein High school in 1913, and also attended Milwaukee State Teachers’ college. The deceased taught a year at Potter and for three years at Lowell school here. She married Clifford Weber, Oct. 17, 1917, and they located on a farm three miles from the city. Mrs. Weber was an active member of the Bethel M. E. church, which she joined in 1932. She was president of the Ladies’ Aid for two years and a member of the Equitable Reserve association and the Good Cheer Homemakers, of which she was the leader for several years. Survivors are her husband, five children, Grace, James, Roy, George and Margie Mae all at home, her mother, Mrs. George Meyer, of Hayton, five sisters, Mrs. Robert Mic*** of Chicago, Mrs. Ray Peterson and Mrs. Louis Ebersberg, Oshkosh, and Verna of New Holstein, and two brothers, Elwin, New Holstein and Robert of Manitowoc. CLIFFORD WEBER Clifford G. Weber, age 95, formerly of 1709 Jefferson Street, New Holstein, a resident of the Calumet Homestead, since February of 1987, passed away at the Homestead Monday morning. He was born in the Town of New Holstein (Calumet County) August 8, 1892, the son of the late Gustave and Emily Lerverenz Weber. He attended New Holstein High School and was a graduate of the short course of the University of Madison. He was engaged in farming until 1948 after which he worked for the Kestell Furniture Company for ten years. He was married to Anna Meyer on October 17, 1917 in New Holstein. She preceded him in death August 22, 1938. He then married Grace Towne on December 19, 1953 in New London. She also preceded him in death on September 1, 1966. He was a member of Bethel Methodist Church at Meggars, the ERA Assembly No. 397, New Holstein Historical Society and the New Holstein Senior Citizens. Survivors include two sons, James, rural New Holstein; Roy of Portland, Ore., two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Grace) Schneider and Mrs. Margy Morrissey, both of Milwaukee; eighteen grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and one sister, Viola Weber, Appleton. ELSIE E. WEBER Miss Elsie E. Weber, 89, of 1434 E. Glendale Avenue, Appleton, died Monday afternoon at Appleton Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born July 1, 1895, in New Holstein, daughter of the late Gust and Emily Weber. Miss Weber attended local schools, and was involved in sales work in New Holstein. She later worked at Gimbels in Milwaukee, and moved to Appleton after her retirement. Miss Weber was a member of First United Methodist Church in Appleton, the Guild Fellowship, and the Appleton Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a life member of the New Holstein Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are a brother, Clifford of New Holstein; a sister, Miss Viola Weber of Appleton; and nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur, in 1972. Mr. Weber died several years ago. She had been living with her daughters for the past eight years. She was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church of Meggers and the Women’s Society of Christian Service. Surviving are two sons, Clifford and Arthur, both of New Holstein; two daughters, Miss Elsie and Miss Viola Leverenz, both of Appleton, seven grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Jochim Laverenz was born May 20, 1835 in Mechlenburg, Germany. In December of 1854, Jochim (along with his mother and three sisters) land in New York. They first lived several years in New York State. They then moved to Illinois for two years. In 1859, Jochim purchased a farm in Charlestown, Calumet County. On Feb. 2, 1862, he married Wilhemina Bastian. Wilhemina was born on Feb. 9, 1840 in Suckow, Michlenburg, Germany. In 1864, Joachim enlisted in the 17th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment and remained until his discharge in July of 1865. His daughter, Emily (who married Gustav Weber) was born soon after Joachim's return from the war. She was born Oct. 21, 1866. (Note: Her photo is in the glass negatives)


GRACE WEBER Mrs. Clifford Weber, 69, of Rt. 1, New Holstein, died Thursday morning at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where she had been a patient two weeks. She was married Dec. 17, 1953, to Clifford Weber. VIOLA WEBER Viola Weber, 94, of Appleton, died Monday, Oct. 21, at Peabody Manor in Appleton. She was born June 28, 1902 in New Holstein, daughter of the late Gustave and Emily Leverenz Weber. She taught school in Sheboygan for several years, then in Appleton for 45 years, retiring in 1966. Survivors include one niece, two nephews. ADOLPH W. WIETING Adolph Weiting Of New Holstein Is Illness Victim New Holstein—Adolph William Weiting died at his home here Wednesday following a lingering illness, at the age of 62. The funeral will be held Monday from the family home and at the Methodist Church at Meggers, of which deceased was an active member, The Rev. William Kramer conducting the services. Burial will be at the Pilgrim’s Rest cemetery, adjoining the church. Mr. Weiting was born December 27, 1856, at Charlestown, a small village near New Holstein, the son of Jochim and Sophia Weiting. He spent his boyhood on the farm of his parents and later attended the Oshkosh Norman School. After leaving school he taught for a number of years in the public schools of Calumet, Sheboygan and Manitowoc Counties. On March 9, 1889, he was united in marriage to Miss Elvina Kono of the town of Mosel, the ceremony being solemnized at Sheboygan. He continued teaching for two years after his marriage and then located on the old homestead where he was born, and on which farm he later had a new home erected. In 1923 he and his wife removed to New Holstein. The survivors are the widow and three son, namely; Irwin, a farmer in Manitowoc county, Alfred and Edmund, both farmers residing near Charlestown. ALFRED H. WIETING Alfred H. Wieting, 80, of 215 S. Main St., Brillion, died unexpectedly Saturday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rural Methodist Church, Brillion. The Rev. Calmer Oberlein will officiate with burial in Pilgrims’ Rest Cemetery, New Holstein. Mr. Wieting was born Feb. 8, 1897, at New Holstein, son of the late Adolph W. and Alvina Kono Wieting. He married Edna ?oeldt Mar.19, 1919, at New Holstein. He farmed until 1940 and was a Watkins Products dealer until the time of his death. He was a member of the Rural Methodist Church, a trustee on the church board, a member of Methodist Church Brotherhood and a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a past member of the Hilbert Village Board and Fire Dept. He was secretary of Pilgrims’ Rest Cemetery Assn. of the Bethel Methodist Schleswig Church. Survivors include his wife, Edna; two sons, Merlyn A., of Brillion and Ralph O., of Carol Stream, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Marcella)Brueggeman and Miss Remilda Wieting, of Mundelein, Ill.; a brother, Edmund, of New Holstein; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. ALVINA W. WIETING Mrs. Alvina Wieting, 91, of 122 Tesch St., Brillion, widow of Adolph, died of a lingering illness Friday. The former Alvina Kono, she was born at Hika (Manitowoc County), July 8, 1872, a daughter of the late John and Louisa Schroeder Kono. She was married to Mr. Wieting, March 9, 1889, following which the couple farmed near New Holstein. They moved to New Holstein in 1929, the year in which her husband died. She lived there until 1958 when she went to Brillion to reside with her son, Alfred H. She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church in New Holstein. Surviving in addition to the son, Alfred, are another son, Edmund, New Holstein; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Emma Gartzke, New Holstein. EDMUUND WIETING Edmund W. Wieting, 81, formerly of 825 Bell Ave., died this morning at We Care Nursing Home where he had resided the past three years. He had been in ill health the past several years. He was born Dec. 1, 1899 in New Holstein, a son of Adolph and Alvina Kono Wieting. He attended school in New Holstein. In 1923 he married the former Ida Kandler at Zion Lutheran Church, New Holstein. The couple operated a farm in the Town of New Holstein until retiring in 1971 when they moved to Sheboygan. EDNA A. WIETING Edna Ann Wieting, 84, 215 S. Main St., Brillion, passed away Monday, September 1, in Appleton following a lingering illness. She was born December 14, 1895 in School Hill, the daughter of the late William and Bertha Baars Boeldt. She married Alfred H. Wieting March 19, 1919 in New Holstein. She was a member of Rural United Methodist Church, Brillion and the Bethel W.S.C.S. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. John (Marcella) Brueggermann and Romilda Amy Wieting of Mundeline, Illinois; two sons, Merlin of Brillion, Ralph of Bellflower, California; one sister, Mrs. Herbert (Hilda) Klemm of Milwaukee; one brother, Helmuth Boeldt of Kiel; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and two brothers. Funeral services will be Saturday at Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion, and the Rural United Methodist Church with the Rev. EVELYN F. WIETING Evelyn F. "Evie" Wieting, aged 86, of Brillion, died on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Brillion West Haven in Brillion. She was born June 16, 1928 in Almond, Wis., daughter of the late Henry and Tressie (Martin) Walter. Evie graduated from UW Oshkosh with a degree in education, an education put to great use in a one room school house northwest of Brillion. It was here that she met her husband, Merlin A. Wieting Sr., who had filled in as Santa Claus one year and visited this school house. They were married May 15, 1948 at the Baptist Church of Almond and worked side by side through-out life. Although Evie stopped educating children in the classroom, she continued to teach everyone with whom she had contact about life and love. She was a member of Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church in Potter where she also taught Sunday School and worked as the Sunday School Superintendent for 22 years, volunteered with the Women's Guild and graciously served as the Prayer Chain Coordinator. She had also belonged to the Calumet county Business and Professional Women's Association and served on the New Hope Board of Directors. Evie was well known for her extensive plate collection and her mastery in the kitchen cooking and baking the most delicious homemade meals and pies. In her free time, she put together jigsaw puzzles and dug deep into the Scriptures. Evie was also a rummage sale afficianado who traveled through-out the countryside with her close women friends looking for treasures which she would bestow upon those she loved. Of the many gifts and talents that Evie received from God, her gift of hospitality was foremost in her life. She especially loved Christmas Eve, when friends and family would gather in the home and sing Christmas carols and enjoy her delicious Christmas treats. She lived her life as Proverbs 31: "Woman, always caring for those around her and working as the hands of feet of Christ with just a touch of attitude." She is survived by her children, Wanda (Rodger) Mellto of Savannah, TN, Bub (Barb) Wieting of Chilton, Fuzzy (Kathy) Wieting of Brillion, Marla (Ron) Michaels of Jefferson, WI, an AFS daughter, Silena (Jorge) Alvarado, Barahona of Costa Rica, 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; a brother, Henry "Joe" (Mary) Walter of Kaukauna; a sister, Avaniel "Abbie" (Fritz) Jannette of Chilton and a special niece, Holly (Felix) Martinez of Florence and her entire family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant child, four sisters, Eva, Marie, Melva and Henriette; a brother, Gordon Walter. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014 at Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church in Potter with the Rev. Dr. Marc Axelrod officiating. FRED WIETING Apparently in the best of health, Fred Wieting, for almost twenty years a resident of Kiel, passed away at his home at 922 Fourth Street here Tuesday evening at about 11:00. Death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Wieting had that same day visited with a sister, Mrs. Fred Tess, and with his grand- daughter, Miss Lydia Tamm, at Green Bay. He retired in the evening in normal health, and the end came quietly. The deceased was born Feb. 3, 1856, in New York State. At the age of three he came to Wisconsin with his parents, who settled in town of Charlestown, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage October 22, 1879, to Miss Mary Schilling of Schleswig. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Ludwig Zenk. After their marriage the couple took possession of a farm near Brillion, where they spent 17 years. From Brillion they moved to Charlestown to remain for a year, after which they took over the Henry Shilling homestead in Schleswig, the farm where Mrs. Wieting was born. Disposing of the farm in 1912 to their son, Edwin, they moved to Kiel, where they have since made their home. Surviving besides his widow are three children: Mrs. E. W. Tamm of this city, Mrs. Ervin Wieting of Cleveland, and Edwin on the homestead farm. A sister, Mrs. Fred Tess, lives in Green Bay, and a brother, the Rev. August Wieting is in Milwaukee. Eight grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held this Saturday with services from the home at 1:30 o’clock and from the Meggers M. IDA WIETING Mrs. Ida E. Wieting, 87, of 825 Bell Avenue, Sheboygan, died Sunday evening, January 22, 1989 at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, where she was a patient for two days. She is the former Ida Kandler, born September 27, 1901 in the Town of Calumet, Fond du Lac County, the daughter of Ernest and Louisa Sievert Kandler. She attended school in Pipe and Marytown. On April 12, 1923 she married Edmund Wieting at Zion Lutheran Church, New Holstein. The couple farmed near Wrightstown in the 1930's, then moved to the Town of New Holstein, until retiring in 1971, when they moved to Sheboygan. He died January 23, 1981. She belonged to St. John's United Church of Christ, Sheboygan. Survivors include three sons, Gilbert (Pauline) of Sheboygan, Ret. Major Fred Wieting, Pensacola, Florida; Robert of New Holstein; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Richard Kandler of Hilbert, Frank of Green Bay, Leonard of Colgate; one sister, Mrs. Mary Pagel of Wausau. She was preceded in death by four brothers. MARY WIETING Mrs. M. Wieting Is Called To Rest After Long Illness Kiel—Mrs. Mary Wieting, 84, widow of Frederick Wieting, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. W. Tamm, this morning after a long illness. The daughter of the late Henry and Magdelia Schilling, she was born Dec. 18, 1857, on the Schilling homestead in the town of Schleswig. She was married to Fred W. Wieting, a native of New Holstein, Oct. 22, 1879, in Kiel by the late Rev. Ludwig Zenk. They lived on a farm near Brillion for 17 years, and in 1896 they returned to the homestead farm in the town of Schleswig. Living there until 1913, they moved to Kiel, where she had since lived. In 1929 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, and two years later, Sept. 29, 1931, Mr. Wieting died. Mrs. Wieting was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church in Meggers, town of Schleswig. And she belonged to the Women’s society of Christian Service of the church. Surviving are three children, Edwin on the homestead farm, Mrs. E. W. (Bertha) Tamm of Kiel, and Mrs. Erwin (Lydia) Wieting, near Kiel; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Bock of New Holstein and Mrs. Bertha Andreas of La Crosse; and four brothers, Henry, Robert and Edward Schilling of New Holstein and Adolph Schilling of West Salem. MERLIN A. WIETING Merlin Alfred Wieting, age 71, of 215 S. Main St., Brillion, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 1994, at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton, after a short illness. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 12, 1994 at Peace United Church of Christ, Potter. Rev. Quentin Moeschberger will officiate with burial in the Bethel Cemetery, New Holstein(sic). Mr. Wieting was born on July 7, 1923, in the town of Schleswig, son of the late Alfred and Edna Boeldt Wieting. Merlin was married on May 15, 1948 to Evelyn F. Walter in Almond, Wis. He and his sons owned and operated Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion, Chilton and Reedsville until the time of his death. Mr. Wieting and his wife owned Colonial and Parkside Residence CBRF Homes in Chilton and Hilbert. He was an active business man in the community, owning Wieting Furniture Store until 1968 and Wascomat Wash Center for many years. He was an active member of Peace United Church of Christ, Potter and served on the consistory for many years. Melvin was a County Board Supervisor for 18 years and served on many committees. He was a member of the National, Wisconsin and Fox Valley Funeral Directors Associations for 47 years. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rev. Wanda and Bill Bennett, Geneva, Neb., Marla and Tim Schneider, Jefferson, Wis.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bud and Barb Wieting, Chilton, Fuzzy and Kathy Wieting, Brillion. REMILDA AMY WIETING Remilda "Amy" Wieting, age 84, of Tucson, AZ, died on Tuesday March 7, 2006 in Tucson. She was born on March 1, 1922 in the Town of Charlestown, daughter of the late Alfred H. & Edna (Boeldt) Wieting. She was employed for many years as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell, was a personnel and office manager for a hospital in Chicago and for the James C. King Home in Evanston, IL. Amy was also a nanny for many special children including Taylor Clark and Kelly Wietzema. In June of 1988 Amy moved to Tucson, AZ. She is survived by a very special friend Mary Lee James of Tucson, a surrogate granddaughter, Sunny Joy Mann; a bother, Ralph O. (Charlotte) Wieting of Woodburn, OR; a sister-in-law, Evelyn F. Wieting of Brillion; six nieces & nephews; Holly Kay (Felix) Martinez, Rev. Wanda (Rodger) Mello, Bud (Barb) Wieting, Fuzzy (Kathy) Wieting, Cynthia (Craig) Trames, and Marla (Ron) Michaelis; 15 great nieces & nephews; and many friends. ROBERT ROY WIETING Robert R. Wieting, 70, of 845 Bader St. #306, Green Bay, formerly of rural New Holstein, died Friday afternoon, Dec. 15, 2006, at Ruth Hospice in Milwaukee after a courageous battle with diabetes. He was born Feb. 16, 1936, in the town of New Holstein, son of the late Edmund & Ida Kandler Wieting. He attended school in New Holstein. Robert farmed in the town of New Holstein most of his life until his retirement. After retirement he moved to Green Bay in the late 1990s. He was a proud recipient of the Century Farm Award from the State of Wisconsin. Robert enjoyed listening to polka music and traveling to antique tractor shows throughout the Midwest. Survivors include one niece, Mary Jane (Daniel) Pawasarat, Sheboygan; his best friend, John Wengrzyn, Bonduel; many close friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert and Fred and his special friend, Theresa Wengrzyn. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at Meiselwitz- Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th. St. Kiel with the Rev. Sara Morse officiating. SOPHIA WIETING Mrs. John Wieting, formerly, Miss Sophia Leverenz, was born in Mecklenburg, Schwerin, Germany, in the village of Ladendorf, Aug. 27, 1826. In 1854 she came to Buffalo, N. Y. and was married the same year to Joachim Wieting, remaining there for four years, and then came to Wisconsin to reside in 1858 and settled in New Holstein on a farm. In 1861 they moved to Sheboygan and lived there until the death of her husband, which occurred some years ago. She then moved to South Dakota where she lived with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Petersmeier, until four years ago when they moved to Charles City, Iowa, where she died, Monday, March 30th, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 3 days. The remains were brought here for burial. There were eight children born to them, two died and six remain; Charles, living in Cranton, South Dakota, Adolph, in the town of New Holstein, Henry, in Charlestown, Mrs. Minnie Mosstorf of Charles City Iowa, and Mrs. Mary Petersmeier of Charles City, Iowa. Besides this she leaves a brother and sister to mourn her death, namely, J. Leverenz of this village and Mrs. Minnie Timm, who lives with her son Charles at Schleswig. FLORENCE ZICK Florence Zick, aged 25, passed away at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Zick here at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday after a lingering illness of three and one-half years. She was born near Kiel, July 13, 1910, and received her early education in the Kiel schools, graduating from high school in 1928. Then she attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, one semester. Survivors are her parents, five sisters, Nelda of Chicago, Mrs. Walter (Sylvia) Sholz of Chicago, Alpha Zick of Downers Grove, Ill., Myrtle Zick, student at Wheaton college, and Evelyn at home and one brother, Lloyd, at home. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at one o’clock from the residence on Third street and at one-thirty o’clock at the Bethel M. E. church at Meggers. The Rev. F. G.
