ANNA BURMAEHLN Kiel - Mrs. Peter Burmahlen(sic) departed this life on Wednesday evening Jan. 4, at the age of 76 years. She was one of the oldest settlers in this section of the country and was well known. She leaves many friends and relatives to mourn her loss. Thou has laid thy darling away to rest, No longer mourn thy loss, God loved and took her to his breast, And thou must bear the cross. The ties of friends are very near, But still we have to part, With Jesus our friend we need not fear, Although it wrings the heart. Art thou now walking the Golden Street, Of which we have read of old? ‘Tis over the river, there we will meet, Where the streets are all paved with gold. Dear mother has gone to a world of light, We trust her happy spirit free Just over the river where all is bright, She’ll be waiting and watching for thee. Chilton Times – January 14, 1888
