ELIZA DUECKER Mrs. Henry Duecker of Collins died last Thursday at the age of 50 years. Decedent is survived by the husband and one daughter. Brillion News, April 14, 1911 ******** DIED AT COLLINS THUR. Mrs. Henry Duecker Passed Away After An Illness of Four Days Appendicitis Being Cause On Thursday morning at 7;00 o'clock the Angel of Death entered the home of Henry Duecker at Collins, taking the kind and dutiful wife and loving mother from the midst of her sorrowing husband, daughter, son-in-law and little grandchildren so quickly that they could hardly realize the dreaded separation that confronted them. On Friday previous to her death she went about her duties the same as usual, little thinking how soon she would be called from those who loved her best. On Sunday morning she had a severe attack of Appendicitis and an operation was performed at her home the same afternoon. Little hope for her recovery was given to her family and friends from that time and after a few days of suffering she quietly passed thru the open portals to that Great land of Happiness where sorrow and pain are no more. Lizzie Stark was born in the town of Schleswig, Manitowoc Co. April 18, 1861. On Dec. 5, 1883 she was married to Henry Duecker. They made their home on a farm in Schleswig for about five years and then moved to Louis Corners where they conducted a saloon, hall and store business. After enjoying a good business in Louis Corners for 19 years they built a house in Collins where they lived a retired life the last four years. Wherever she was known she was highly thought of and her kind heartedness and winning ways won many friends for her. Those who mourn her sad untimely death are her sorrowing husband, daughter, son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Mattes and two little grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. C. Arnold of Kiel, and Mrs. T. Lulloff of St. Nazianz, three brothers, Frank Stark of Kiel, George of Worthington, Minn. and Balzar of Schleswig, besides other friends and relatives. The funeral was held at Collins at 2 o'clock from the house, Rev. J. J. Matzdorf, minister of the German Evangelish Church of which the deceased was a charter member conducted the funeral services. Many beautiful flowers, offerings of relatives and friend bedecked the casket. The funeral was very largely attended. Many of her friends from Kiel, Louis Corners and Schleswig were in attendance in spite of the poor condition of the roads. Hilbert Favorite - April 13, 1911
