JOHN DEMARCE Boy Aged 11 is Drowning Victim Today John Richard DeMarce, 11, son of Mrs. Dora DeMarce, Howards road, drowned early this afternoon in a swimming hole in the Pigeon river, two miles northwest of the city. The boy was under water for at least 15 minutes, Dr. William VanZanten, acting coroner, said. The sheriff's department went to the scene, and called the police department for a pulmotor. The police department in turn called the Wisconsin Public Service corporation, and several men with an inhalator rushed to the scene. The machine proved useless, however, and artificial respiration was applied by hand for more than an hour. Dr. VanZanten pronounced the boy dead when the repeated efforts met with failure to revive any sparks of life. The tragedy occurred near a farm owned by Atty. A. Matt Werner of this city, and occupied by Melvin Dulmes. It was Dulmes who pulled the lad from five feet of water after he had been summoned to the scene by the cries of other youngsters swimming nearby. Dulmes said the boy had apparently been caught by the slight current flowing in the stream. The body was taken to Ballhorn Funeral Temple. Sheboygan Press. Tues. Efforts to revive the boy yesterday failed, as did efforts to find an inhalator, pulmotor, or resuscitator, until a crew from the Wisconsin Public Service corporation was contacted.
