If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah, yes, these things too; I will miss. Be not burdened with time of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much. good Friends, good Times, a loved one's touch. HENRY FROMM (d. 1915) SCHLESWIG MAN ENDS OWN LIFE, MIND UNBALANCED FAMILY FLEES HOME IN FEAR OF HENRY FROEMME(sic) AND MAN THEN DRINKS QUANTITIES OF PARIS GREEN AND DIES Alone in his home when his wife and ten children had fled during the night in fear of him, Henry Froemme, a town of Schleswig man, mind unbalanced by brooding over fancied troubles, committed suicide by drinking a quantity of paris green early Sunday morning. Froemme was found dying in bed when his wife returned to the home at 8 o'clock and physicians who were summoned were unable to save the man. Froemme was 49 years old. Froemme had returned to his home Saturday night in sullen mood and his peculiar actions caused members of the family to become apprehensive that he intended some violence. After the family had retired Froemme left his bed, locked all doors of the house and barricaded some of them with the furniture. Mrs. Foemme, alarmed, sought to leave the house to summon help but when she attempted to open a door was restrained by her husband. Later the wife made her escape through a window after a struggle in which her clothing was torn by Froemme who sought to detain her. Mrs. Froemme reached the home of a neighbor where Froemme and his 10 year old son later found her and the husband insisted she return home. The woman declined however though she said she would return in the morning. The ten children of the family then joined the mother and were cared for by neighbors. Fearful that Froemme might fire the home or do himself violence Mrs. Froemme implored neighbors to visit the house and investigate and Froemme was found seated in the kitchen but refused to have anything to do with his callers. He was then left alone and when Mrs. Froemme returned to the house at 8 o'clock Sunday morning the man was apparently sleeping in his room. A few minutes later, however, Mrs. Froemme found evidence that her husband had taken poison when particles of paris green were found in a drinking dipper. A physician was summoned from Kiel but Froemme died a short time later. Coroner Falge, District Attorney Schmitz and Sheriff Engelbrecht who were notified, left for Schleswig Sunday afternoon to investigate and after learning the fact decided that the case was one of suicide and that no inquest was necessary. Froemme is said to have been acting strangely for two weeks past. He was a farmer and is said to have been prosperous. Lately he had been employed in a factory at Kiel. The home is a mile from that village. The burial will be at Schleswig. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Tuesday, June 01, 1915, Page 1 ********* Heinrich Fromm, who lives at the north side of the village limits committed suicide by drinking a mixture of Paris Green and Eagle Lye. He had a family argument on Saturday evening and his wife and 2 small children went to stay with neighbors and when they returned to their home the next morning they found Mr. Fromm in his bed with signs of being poisoned. Dr. Mattes was called but the poison already had caused his death. He was 49 years old and was born in Pommern, Germany. The family lived in Kiel for 17 years and he was employed at the Kiel Furniture Co. He is survived by his wife and 8 children. The burial is Wednesday afternoon in the Kiel Cemetery with Pastor Rech officiating. Plymouth Post, June 5, 1915
