HAROLD H. GREVE From Der Nord Westen, 04 Jan. 1906 The 3-1/2 year old son of Rudolph Greve in Kiel died Wednesday (27 Dec. 1905) last week after a 4-week illness. The funeral was held Saturday.

HERMAN GREVE From Der Nord Westen, 25 Mar. 1909: Death in Kiel of 38-year old Hermann Greve, a well-known German resident, as a result of heart disease. The deceased was a son of Friedrich Greve, one of the eldest residents of Kiel. He was a well-known merchant and a partner in the East Wisconsin Telephone Association. He is survived by his wife, his elderly parents and several sisters. ************ With sadness, we received the news of the death of Herman B. Greve last week Thursday night at the young age of 37 years following a long and grave illness. His death occurred in Chilton at the home of his brother- in-law Mr. Wm. Pinnow where he had been living the last six weeks. With the deceased we have lost an honorable and cheerful character; a quiet businessman; a faithful and loving husband and a respected friend. Although we understand that his death was imminent, and that he has found a painless rest, the news of his passing brings sadness. His relatives and friends will remember him as a good natured, kind, protector and Kiel will remember him as a liberal minded caretaker and good citizen and his memory would not be soon forgotten. The deceased, who was in the best years of his life, was brought to his death due to a long illness. He was born in Town New Holstein on February 10, 1872. He attended public school in Kiel, and at age 18 he entered into the grain business and later partnered with Mr. Wm. Broeckert. He married Miss Helene Paulsen in January of 1899 and three children were born to the marriage, which were soon taken from their parents. In 1901 he formed the Kiel Grain and Milling Company with several partners, to which he belonged until a year ago. He was also an officer of the Eastern Wisconsin Telephone Company. In 1906 he held the office as supervisor on the county board, and it was his illness that caused him to leave his position. Earlier he had served two terms as village trustee. He was a founding member of the Kiel Men’s Choir and earlier a member of the Kiel Arion Band. Additionally he was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge, the Rebecca Lodge and the Modern Woodmen. Mr. Greve had always enjoyed good health up to a year and half ago, when he became ill. The best doctors tried everything to preserve his life, he became increasingly more ill, until on Thursday night his life came to an end. His wife, who provided the loving and dedicated care during his long illness, is in deepest mourning since his death. Besides his wife, his 84-year-old father Friedrich Greve, his 70-year- old mother, three brothers, five sisters and large circle of relatives and friends survive him. On Sunday, Pastor Fischer, from Town Russell, officiated at the burial, which was attended by relatives and friends. Besides the fore mentioned organizations and Lodges, the Royal Neighbors took part in the burial. At the house, a quartet from the Mission House in Franklin sang appropriate songs, and the Kiel Men’s Choir and the Kiel Arion Band provided the music at the cemetery. The numerous flower displays and memorials, were a testament to the high regard in which the deceased was held by his fellowman. “ Honor his memory and the freedom of his ashes.” (translated from German) No newspaper cited, March 18, 1909 ************ From Sheboygan county marriage records: (Sheb. v.7 p.580) Jan. 18, 1899 in civil ceremony, Elkhart Lake, Sheboygan County Herman B. LENA LOUISE ANNA GROSZ WEDDING CLOTHES ARE HER SHROUD Kiel Girl Dies at Fondy Under Mysterious Circumstances WAS TO HAVE BEEN MARRIED OCTOBER 2 Wedding garments that were to have been worn by Miss Helen Gross(sic) of Kiel were converted into her shroud at Fond du Lac where the girl who was to have been married on October 2, died there suddenly and under mysterious circumstances. The young woman had been employed as a domestic at Fond du Lac, but a week ago, resigned her position and took up her residence with her sister, Mrs. Oscar Oberreich. On Tuesday morning, she complained of feeling ill and appeared to be suffering from a slight cold. A physician was called who however, stated that the girl's condition was not serious. On the afternoon of the same day, a high fever developed and the girl took to her bed, later arising and announcing her determination to leave the house and seek a new position as a domestic. Her sister, Mrs. Oberreich, however, would not let her leave and she again retired. Three hours afterward she was dead. The Fond Du Lac Reporter in reporting the case says, "Shortly after 8 o'clock while Mrs. Oberreich was out in the kitchen she heard a peculiar noise in the bedroom and thinking that her baby might be ill she hastened to the room to find that her sisters was dying. Before medical aid could arrive, the young lady was dead. "Mrs. Oberreich stated this morning the physician was non-committal as to the cause of her sister's death. Owing to the fact that the young lady had never been seriously ill during her life and had never complained of her heart, the theory of heart trouble is scouted by her relatives. She had been apparently in the best of health until Tuesday morning and her sudden death is thought to be peculiar. "Miss Gross would have been 21 years of age on October 3. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gross of Kiel; five sisters, Mrs. Herman Lenge of Greenbush, Mrs. August Wuhn of Plymouth, Mrs. Valdere Rader of St. Cloud, Mrs. J. Beck, Rhein and Mrs. Oscar Oberreich of Fond du Lac. The funeral arrangements had not been made but it was thought that the body would be taken to Kiel for interment. Authorities will investigate the death circumstances." Manitowoc Daily Herald, Thurs., Sept. 9, 1909
