RUTH PARELIUS Mrs. Walter J. Parelius, 62, a Kiel native, died in Chicago Sunday. The former Ruth Klemme, she was born north of Kiel, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Klemme. She was a resident of Chicago for 40 years. Survivors include her husband; three brothers, Hugo, Victor and Milton, all of chicago; and two sisters, Mrs. Norma Wolf, Chicago, and Mrs. Esther Bishop, Twin Lakes, Ill. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, with the Rev. Newton Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the Kiel Cemetery. CHESTER PARROW Chester Parrow, 80, of Pulaski, N.Y., husband of a former Kiel woman, died Tuesday at Pulaski. Surviving is his wife, the former Minnie Fromm. A retired railroad maintenance employee, Mr. Parrow and his wife lived in Winnipeg, Canada, for many years before moving to Pulaski. MINNIE PARROW Mrs. Minnie Parrow, 84, of 394 East Rhine Street, Elkhart Lake, died May 31 at the Plymouth Hospital where she had been a patient for two days. She was born in Germany on March 20, 1891, a daughter of Henry and Mathilda Beir Fromm. She came to America at the age of six and settled at Rosendale with her parents. On January 15, 1912, she was married to Chester Parrow at Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada. The couple lived in Winnepeg for 43 years before moving to Pulaski, New York, where Mr. Parrow died May 21, 1968. In September of 1968, Mrs. Parrow moved to Elkhart Lake. She was a member of Community United Church of Christ, Elkhart Lake. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Margaret Feldmann, Elkhart Lake; two brothers, Henry Fromm, Kiel, and Arthur Fromm, Milwaukee. Funeral services were held Saturday at Community United Church of Christ, Elkhart Lake, the Reverend Robert L. Johnston, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Kiel Cemetery. CHARLES F. PASCH Funeral services for Sgt. Charles F. Pasch, killed in action over Dusseldorf, Germany, in January, 1945, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home at Kiel. The Rev. E. L. Worthman of the Reformed Lutheran church, will officiate, and burial will be made in the Kiel cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded the returned hero, and graveside rites will be conducted by the Tri-county V. F. W. Post 6707, and the Kasper-Beckley- Wilkins Post 99, American Legion. Sgt Pasch was a gunner and radio operator on a B-17 crew. He entered the service in June, 1943. The deceased was born in Milwaukee, and attended schools there. He attended the University of Wisconsin, and for several years was in the brewery and bottlers' supply business. FRANK F. PASCH Former Resident of Kiel is Dead Kiel – Frank Pasch, 68, formerly of Kiel, passed away Saturday at his home in Milwaukee after a brief illness. Born in Pomerania, Germany, Nov. 13, 1874, he was the son of August and Fredericka (Timreck) Pasch. Coming to the United States at the age of nine with his parents, he came directly to Kiel. He was married here on Oct. 3, 1899, to Mary Henschel of Kiel, and after having lived here for several years, the couple moved to Milwaukee where they have since resided. He was a traveling salesman. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Lester and Charles, both of Milwaukee; and one brother, August Pasch of Ottawa, Canada. Two sisters, Mrs. August Jaschob and Mrs. Herman Jaschob, and one brother, Carl, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning in Milwaukee after which the body will be brought to Kiel for burial. It will lie in state at the C. J. FREDERICKA PASCH Mrs. Wilhelmine Pasch, nee Timreck, passed away at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. August Jaschob in this city, where she had been making her home. Death was due to the infirmities of old age. Mrs. Pasch was Kiel's oldest woman resident, having reached the advanced age of 93 years and 21 days. She was in her usual health and good spirits up to a few days before her demise, and her family little expected that the end was so near. Decedent was born in Pommerania, Germany, December 18, 1827, and was married in 1852 in the fatherland to August William Pasch. The family emigrating(sic) to America in 1885 with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. August Jaschob. They settled in Kiel, where they have since resided. Her husband preceded her in death 35 years ago. The family consisted of five children, of whom two, Mrs. Herman Jaschob of Kiel and a son in Germany have died. She leaves to mourn one daughter, Mrs. August Jaschob of Kiel, August Pasch in Ottawa, Can., and Frank Pasch in Milwaukee; one sister, Mrs. John Schroeder in Kiel; 22 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, from the Jaschob home, interment taking place in the Kiel cemetery. Rev. W. Rech conducted the last sad rites. - 1921 (Note: This is the only cemetery with this surname.)


LESTER A. PASCH Funeral services for Lester A. Pasch, 68, of Milwaukee, who died Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital, Milwaukee, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel. The Rev. John F. Baumann, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, will officiate. Burial will be at Kiel Cemetery. Born March 25, 1900 in Milwaukee, he was a son of Mary Henschel and the late Frank Pasch. Mr. Pasch operated the Pasch Bottler's Supply Co. in Milwaukee following the death of his father in 1942. MARY PASCH Mrs. Mary Pasch, 91, of Milwaukee, a former Kiel resident died at a Milwaukee hospital Monday morning, following a lingering illness. JULIE ANN PAHL Julie Ann Pahl, month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pahl, Rt. 1, New Holstein, died Thursday evening at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, following a one day illness. Surviving in addition to the parents are a brother, James Richard; a sister, Sharon Rose; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Klapp, Campbellsport and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Pahl, Brownsville. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday at the Erbe-Evjen Funeral Home, New Holstein with the Rev. C.L. Reiter, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel, officiating. ROBERT PAHL JR. Funeral services for Robert Ronnie, three days old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pahl, of Rt. 2, New Holstein, were at 3 p.m. Saturday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The Rev. E.C. Behm, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel, officiated. The infant was born Tuesday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton and died Friday morning. EDGAR A. PAULSEN Funeral services were held at Meiselwitz Funeral Home for Edgar Paulsen, 64, who died at his home Friday evening. Edwin Mahnke, former reader of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Sheboygan, conducted the services. Honorary pallbearers included Dr. E. C. Carey and Emil Gehrke, past vice commanders of the Wisconsin American Legion; Gil Ellmann, vice commander of the state department; Alan Jaeckel, commander of the local post; Maurice DeWein, county commander, and Chester Wiltgen, district commander. The active pallbearers were Arthur Eick, E. R. Hayner, Robert Kuenne, Ray and Rewald Schubert and George Wirtz. Burial was in the Kiel cemetery, and members of the local post conducted military rites. Mr. Paulsen was an active member of the American Legion, attending many state and national conventions. He held many offices in the local post, of which he was a charter member. He was born December 26, 1891, at New Holstein, only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August A. Paulsen. He attended the district schools and was graduated from the Kiel high school in 1909. He later attended Ripon College and the University of Wisconsin. At the outbreak of World War I he enlisted in the U. S. Army and on his return from service joined his father in the hardware business in Kiel. In 1923 he was named secretary of the Kiel Chamber of Commerce and later located at Stevens Point, where he was also secretary of the Chamber of Commerce of that city. Returning to Kiel, he was employed in recent years as a salesman for plumbing and heating firms in Wisconsin. Only survivor is his wife, the former Irma Schubert of Kiel, whom he married June 16, 1921. Mrs. Paulsen retired this year as president of the American Legion Auxiliary of Wisconsin. Paulsen, 64, of 830 Seventh St., a veteran of World War I and active for years in the American Legion, died Friday evening at his home following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home with burial in the Kiel Cemetery. There will be military rites at the grave- side. He was born Dec. 26, 1891, at New Holstein, only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Paulsen. He attended the district schools and was graduated from the Kiel High School in 1909. Only survivor is his wife, the former Irma Schubert of Kiel, whom he married June 15, 1921. Mrs. Paulsen retired this year as president of the American Legion Auxiliary of Wisconsin. IRMA PAULSEN Funeral services for Mrs. Irma Paulsen, 82, a former state president of the Wisconsin American Legion Auxiliary, a Kiel resident, widow of Edgar A., who died Saturday at Morningside Nursing Home, Sheboygan, were held at 1 p.m. today at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The Rev. John F. Baumann, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, officiated. Burial was in Kiel Cemetery. The former Irma Schubert, she was born July 30, 1892 in Kiel, a daughter of the late Fred and Emma Harbrecht Schubert. She attended Kiel Public School and graduated in 1910. On June 16, 1921 she was married to Mr. Paulsen in Kiel. Her husband died on Nov. 11, 1955. She was a charter member of the Kasper-Beckley-Wilkens American Legion Post Auxiliary and was its first president. She later held offices in the Manitowoc County Council of the American Legion Auxiliary. She served in all departments in the Sixth District and became state president in 1955. In 1956 she served on the Women’s Forum on National Security in Washington D.C. She was a charter member and past president of the Kiel Study Club. Survivors are a brother, Raymond O. Schubert of Sheboygan, and a sister, Mrs. E.R. Hayner of Kiel. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death. DELORES M. PERRONNE Delores M. Perronne, 84, of Kiel died Monday morning, July 14, 2008 at her home. She was born July 20, 1923 in the Town of Meeme, daughter of the late Walter and Martha Riehn Fiedler. Delores attended Mineral Springs School in the Town of Meeme. On July 15, 1944 she married Harold Perronne at St. James UCC in Spring Valley. She was a housekeeper for Dr. George Twohig in Kiel for many years. Delores was a member of St. Peters UCC, Kiel. She enjoyed playing sheepshead. Survivors include six cousins: LaVerne (Marvin) Siegert, Howards Grove, Frederick (Eileen) Perronne, Howards Grove, Margaret Marten, Sheboygan Falls, Merlin (Jean) Riehn, Kiel, Eugene (Bernice) Reineck, Kiel and Wallace (Marge) Doro, Sheboygan. She is further survived by one brother-in-law, Neils Perronne, Sheboygan and numerous friends. HAROLD W. PERRONNE Harold W Perronne, 67, of Kiel, died Feb 18, 1986 at Memorial Hospital, Sheboygan. Mr Perronne was born Oct 1, 1918 in Franklin, a son of Louis and Ida Barthel Perronne. He attended district school at Franklin. Mr Perronne and Delores Fiedler were married on July 15, 1944, in Spring Valley. the couple lived in the Town of Meeme for 15 years before moving to Kiel. Mr Perronne was a self-employed truck dirver and milk hauler, and was also employed at Kiel Elementary School as a custodian for 17 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St Peter UCC in Kiel. He is survived by his wife, two sisters, Mrs Wesley Arpke of Sheboygan and Miss Caroline Perronne of Howards Grove, and one brother Niles of Plymouth. ELLA PETER Funeral services were held yesterday for Mrs. Ella Peter, 69, at St. Peter E & R church in the Town of Rhine. Rev. E. Oppermann officiated at the services and burial was made in the church cemetery. She died at Memorial hospital early Sunday morning. She was born Ella Jochmann in the Town of Schleswig Oct 26, 1888, daughter of the late Traugott and Wilhelmina Hauer Jochmann. She received her education in the district school of the township and was confirmed in 1905 at St. Peter Reformed church, Kiel. She was married to John Peter of the Town of Plymouth Oct. 31, 1907. The couple lived in Plymouth several years and then farmed in the Town of Rhine for the next 42 years. Her husband died in February, 1947, and the past two years she had been living in Kiel. She was a member of the Ladies’ Aid Society of the church. Survivors include two daughters, Miss Erna Peter of Kiel and Mrs. Norman Rabe of the town of Schleswig; son, Arno of the Town of Rhine; sister, Mrs. Adela Spitzer of Kenosha and seven grandchildren. no newspaper named, March 6, 1958


ERNA PETER Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Miss Erna A. Peter, 50, of 618 St. Paul Street, who died Wednesday at Sheboygan Memorial hospital, where she had been a patient since April 9. The services were held at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ with the Rev. Vernon E. Jaberg officiating. Burial was in Kiel Cemetery. She was born March 27, 1916, in the town of Rhine, a daughter of the late John and Ella Peter. She attended the Rhine Center School and was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in the town of Rhine. For the past 20 years, Miss Peter had lived in Kiel, where she was employed at the A. A. Laun Furniture Company. She was a member of St. Peter’s UCC, Kiel, and the royal Neighbors Lodge of Kiel. JOHN PETER John Peter, aged 68, a resident of the town of Rhine, passed away at his home early Friday morning after a lingering illness. The deceased was born in Germany Oct. 24, 1878, and came to this country in 1897, settling in the town of Rhine. August 31, 1907 he was married to Miss Ella Jochmann of the town of Schleswig. Several years after their marriage they farmed a plot of land near Plymouth, moving to their present homestead 32 years ago. Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Edna) Rabe, town of Schleswig, and Miss Erna at Kiel; one son, Arno, of the town of Rhine; six grandchildren, and several brothers and sisters in Germany. One daughter died in 1910. Mr. Peter served as elder for 14 years in the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church in the town of Rhine. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church, with the Rev. Paul Thomas officiating. ALICE PETZOLD Mrs. Carl Petzold, 87, a former Kiel resident, died early today at the Terrace Nursing Home, 2305 N. 7th St. She had been in ill health for the past three years. The former Elisa Nagel, she was born July 2, 1876, in the Town of Schleswig, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Nagel, and received her education in the district school. She was married to Mr. Petzold of the Town of Schleswig on May 16, 1901. The couple settled in Kiel following their marriage, and observed their 62nd wedding anniversary in May of this year. Mrs. Petzold was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Kiel, and the Frauenverein of the church. Survivors are her husband; a son, Calvin F. of Kiel; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Kiel. The Rev. CALVIN PETZOLD Calvin F. Petzold, 64, of 902 2nd St., Kiel, died Sunday morning at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where he had been a patient for five days. He was born July 12, 1911, a son of Carl and Elisa Balz Petzold. He attended public school in Kiel. On Oct. 24, 1936 he married Elvera Siekmann of Sheboygan. The couple resided in Kiel after their marriage. He was employed at Stoelting Bros. Co., Kiel, for 25 years, and for the past 10 years was Kiel deputy city clerk. Mr. Petzold was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel; Kiel Lodge No 336, F &A M., and past member and past patron of the Kiel Eastern Star Chapter No. 281. Survivors include his widow; a daughter, (private); a son, (private), and three grandchildren. A son preceded him in death. CARL W. PETZOLD Carl W. Petzold, 93, of Kiel, died Friday evening at Toth Nursing Home, Chilton, where he had been a resident for about five years. He was born Jan. 9, 1876, in the Town of Sheboygan, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Petzold, and later lived in the Town of Schleswig in Manitowoc County. His marriage to Elisa Balz took place May 16, 1901. They lived in Kiel where he was employed at the J. B. Laun Co. and at Stoelting Bros. Co. Mr. Petzold was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel. He also was a former active member of the Kiel Fire Department and was an honorary member at the time of his death. The couple observed their 62nd wedding anniversary in 1963. Mrs. Petzold died in December of that year. Surviving are a son, Calvin, Kiel; two grandchildren and two great-grand- children. Preceding him in death were a sister, a brother and a grandson. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, with the Rev. John F. Survivors include a son, Calvin, of Kiel; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, a sister and a brother. ELVERA PETZOLD Elvera L. Petzold, 94, of Kiel, died peacefully on Thursday morning Oct. 13, 2005 at her home. She was born Sept. 3, 1911, in the town of Mosel, Sheboygan County, on the farm operated by her parents. The daughter of Albert and Augusta (Kalk) Siekmann, she was the youngest of three children. At the age of 13, her parents sold the farm and moved to Sheboygan, where she finished her grade school education. She attended two years of high school and then attended Sheboygan Business College. After graduation she was employed at numerous places in Sheboygan. On Oct. 24, 1936 she married Calvin F. Petzold, and she has resided in Kiel since that time. Mrs. Petzold was employed at Citizen’s State Bank for 16 years and was secretary at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ for many years. She was a member of St. Peter’s UCC, serving as Sunday School teacher, Women’s Guild officer and Senior Social leader. She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, belonging to the Kiel Chapter #281 where she was Worthy Matron six times and served as its secretary one time. Elvera was a current member of the New Holstein-Calumet Chapter #262 Order of Easter Star. She also was a member of Unity Court # 14 Order of the Ameranth, Plymouth, and served as its Royal Matron. Elvera also served as the secretary of the Kiel Community Chest. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia A. Schaub of Ripon, and son Terry (Nancy) Petzold of Kiel. Other survivors include five grandchildren; and three great grand- children. She is also survived by two nephews, Vernon and Lloyd Siekmann. Elvera was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin F. on May 2, 1976, and her son, Frederick Petzold on June 21, 1964. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Augusta Siekmann, brothers, Otto and Ervin Siekmann, and one son-in-law, Cal Schaub. Elvera enjoyed playing cards at the Kiel community Center, reading and needlecraft. She was active in the Kiel Nutrition Site and the Kiel Senior Citizens Organization. For the last 70 years of her life, she found great joy in following her team, the Green Bay Packers. Funeral services will be held at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, with the Rev. FREDERICK PETZOLD KIEL MAN, 21, DIES; TRAPPED IN BURNING CAR Frederick C. Petzold, 21, of 902 Second Street, was killed Sunday, one of seven persons in Wisconsin who died during the weekend as a result of highway accidents. Petzold died in a ditch on Highway 67 just north of the village limits of Elkhart Lake when his car was hit from behind, pushed off the roadway and bust into flames. He was trapped. Driving a sports car, a Triumph TR3, he had pulled onto the right side of the highway to pick up two hitchhikers. In 1963 Cadillac, driven by Thomas E. Langenfeld, 22 of New Holstein struck the sports car and the impact ruptured the gasoline tank. TWO IN HOSPITAL Langenfeld and a girl companion, Miss Mary Joan Janssen, of Green Bay sustained severe mouth injuries. In addition, the girl had abrasion to both knees and right elbow. The two were removed to Plymouth Hospital. The Elkhart Lake Volunteer Fire Department was called. With this death Sheboygan County recorded its 15th fatality this year. Petzold was a native of Sheboygan, son of Calvin and Elvera Siekmann Petzold. He was born Sept. 16, 1942, attended Kiel public schools and was a graduate from Kiel High School in 1960. He attended Lakeland College, Plymouth, for two years and Chicago Technical Engineering School for two years. He was employed in the cost accounting department of Stoelting Brothers co. here. He was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ. Surviving are his parents, a sister, Mrs. Calvin J. Schaub, of Ripon, a brother, Terry Lee, of Kiel and paternal grandfather, Carl Petzold, of Sheboygan. Funeral services will be at St. Peter United Church of Christ, the Rev. Vernon E. GUSTAVE PETZOLD Death came as a relief to Gustave Petzoldt(sic) on Thursday, February 3rd, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Diefenthaler, Sr., in the town of New Holstein, following a stroke. He was born in Germany, September 24, 1850, and came to this country at the age of 9 years, settling with his parents near Sheboygan. In 1874 he was married to Pauline Goebel. The couple made their home near Sheboygan; after three years they moved on a farm near Millhome, in the town of Schleswig, where they lived until 14 years ago, when they sold their farm to their son William and moved to this city. His wife died 7 years ago. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Rohde, Sr., and Mrs. J. Kappelmann of Sheboygan; three children, Carl of this city, William of town Schleswig, and Mrs. Wm. Diefenthaler, Sr., of town New Holstein; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday at the Reformed church officiated by Rev. O. Saewert. PAULINE PETZOLD Mrs. Gustave Petzold Relieved of 16 Years of Invalidism. Death came as a relief to Mrs. Gustave Petzold on Sunday morning at her home in this village, after many years of patient suffering. The deceased, nee Pauline Goebel, was born in the state of New York, December 26th, 1852. In 1865 she was united in marriage to Gustave Petzold, the couple making their home on a farm in the town of Schleswig, near Millhome, where they resided until seven years ago, when they removed to Kiel. She was ill with rheumatism for 16 years and for the last 12 years has been helpless. Dropsy was the immediate cause of death. Besides her husband she leaves two sons, william on the old home farm, Charles in Kiel, and one daughter, Mrs. W. Diefenthaler of the town of New Holstein. Also a number of grand- children, two brothers and one sister. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, with interment in the Kiel cemetery, Rev. Rech officiating. - 1920


TERRY PETZOLD Terry Lee Petzold, age 59, of Kiel, died Sunday afternoon, May 23, 2010. He was born January 26, 1951 in Sheboygan, son of the late Calvin F. and Elvera L. (Siekmann) Petzold. He was a 1969 graduate of Kiel High School and a 1974 graduate of UW Madison with an engineering degree. On June 25, 1983 he married Nancy Reichardt at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel. Terry was employed in the engineering profession his whole life. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel. Terry was an all around sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching and knowing the ins and outs of the sporting world, especially the Packers, for which he enjoyed season tickets his whole life. Survivors include his wife, Nancy of Cedar Lake; one son, Corey Petzold and fiancé, Kara Wagner of West Bend; one daughter, Jennifer Petzold, Kiel; one sister, Patricia Schaub, Ripon; nieces and nephews, Rev. Craig (Cynthia) Schaub, Syracuse, NY, Dr. Mark (Gayle) Schaub, Grand Rapids, Michigan, AmyLiz (Monty) Pera, New York City and his mother-in-law, Arlene Reichardt, Kiel. HANFORD C. PEZOLDT Hanford C. Pezoldt, 65, Des Plaines, Ill., a native of Kiel, died Wednesday morning. Born in Kiel, Jan. 6, 1905, son of the late William and Mathilda Pezoldt, he graduated from Kiel High School in 1923. He married the former Hazel Johann. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, a son, seven grandchildren, and two brothers, Kenneth, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Juno, Milwaukee. MATHILDA PEZOLDT Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Mathilda Pezoldt, 71, who died at the Memorial hospital, Thursday. Mrs. Pezoldt had been a patient at the hospital for several weeks, after suffering a stroke at her home. The services were in charge of the Rev. Allen L. Bowe and interment was made in the Kiel cemetery. Mrs. Pezoldt was born February 26, 1882, at Calumetville, Fond du Lac County, a daughter of Jacob and Sophia Rothmann Reiss. She was married to William Pezoldt of Kiel in May, 1904. For years, she and her sister, Mrs. Carrie Mauer, operated a sweet shop in Kiel, selling the business in 1943. Since that time they have their home together in Kiel. Mrs. Pezoldt was a member of the Kiel branch of the Royal Neighbors, the First Presbyterian Church and the Dorcas society of the church. Survivors are three sons, Hanford of Des Plaines, Illinois, and Kenneth and Juno of Milwaukee; four grandchildren; a brother, Paul Reiss, and two sisters, Mrs. Carl Winter and Mrs. Carrie Mauer, of this city. ORVILLE PEZOLDT Orville Pezold (sic), the eight year old son of Mr. Wm. Pezold died at the home of his Aunt Mrs. G. Maurer, Tuesday morning. The little fellow had been ill with influenza pneumonia since Dec. 19. Since the death of his father two years ago he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Maurer. He was a general favorite among his school mates in the fourth grade of the public school. The grief-stricken mother and aunt have the deepest sympathy of the community in their double bereavement. Double funeral services were held at the Maurer home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, W.H. Luehr of New Holstein officiating, with interment in the Kiel cemetery.


WILLIAM PEZOLDT On Saturday a telegram was received with the news that Mr. Wm. Petzoldt had died at the Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The coffin arrived here on Tuesday night and was taken to the home of the deceased. Mr. Petzoldt died one month and 4 days after going to the sanitarium. He was born in Milwaukee on September 20, 1880 and grew up there. He came to Kiel about 15 years ago and since then has worked at the Ammann Cigar Factory. On May 7, 1904 he married Miss Tillie Reiss from Calumet his surviving spouse. The marriage was blessed with four sons. Mr. Petzoldt had previously served as village trustee and for many years held the office of Day Marshall. He was a member of the following organizations, Woodmen, E. F. U., Beavers, Redmen, Turners, Fire Department and the Cigar Makers Union. The burial took place on W ednesday afternoon from his home to the Kiel Cemetery with Mr. Wm. GEORGINE PFEIFFER Georgine K. Pfeiffer, 77, of 1808 Van Buren Street, New Holstein, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 1990 at Willowdale Nursing Home, New Holstein, from cancer and its complications. She is the former Georgine Nauth, born April 11, 1913 in Sheboygan County, daughter of the late George and Mary Spindler Nauth. She graduated from Kiel High School in 1931. On Nov. 29, 1935, she married William Pfeiffer at Waukegan, Illinois. She was a member of the New Holstein Garden Club and the New Holstein Civic Club. Survivors include her husband, William, Sr., of New Holstein; one son, William Pfeiffer of Madison; one daughter, Colleen Pfeiffer of Fond du Lac; two brothers, Eugene (Margaret) Nauth of Kohler and Howard (Florence) Nauth of Brookfield. WILLIAM F. PFEIFFER William F. Pfeiffer, Sr., 90, a resident of New Holstein, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born Dec. 16, 1910 in New Holstein, son of the late William and Augusta Elmegreeen Pfeiffer. He was the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Pfeiffer who were some of the first pioneer settlers of New Holstein. He graduated from New Holstein High School in 1928 and thereafter attended and graduated from the Milwaukee business college. He worked for the Lauson Corporation, Cooley Printers and the U.S. Postal Service, New Holstein Post Office, until his retirement in 1975. On Nov. 29, 1935 he married Georgine Nauth. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1985. She preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 1990. He suffered a stroke in November 1987 and was a resident of Willowdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein ever since. Survivors include a daughter, Colleen of Fond du Lac; a son, William of Madison; and a brother, Ralph (Jean) Pfeiffer of Kiel. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond, Larry, Zeno, Leslie and Lester; and two sisters, Edith and Rachel. Funeral arrangements at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home in Kiel. The Rev. EVA PINGEL Mrs. Henry Pingel died at her home Thursday of influenza, and was buried Monday afternoon in the Kiel cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Rech. Eva Elizabeth Schmitt was born in the town of Rhine, March 19, 1860. She was united in marriage April 16, 1893 to Henry Pingel. They made their home in Plymouth until 1901, when they moved to Kiel. She leaves her husband and two daughters, Laura, at home and Mrs. Lawrence of Stanley, to mourn her loss. Two grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters also survive her. HENRY PINGEL Henry Pingel passed away at 4 a.m. Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arthur W. Lawrence, Fond du Lac, R.3. Mr. Pingel, who had reached the age of 71 years died as the result of a stroke. The deceased, born in Germany, April 14, 1864, came to Plymouth in the year 1884, later moving to Kiel where he made his home for 37 years. For the past four years he has made his home with his daughter. Mr. Pingel was married in 1892 to Miss Eva Schmidt of the town of Rhine, who preceded him in death. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Lawrence and Mrs. Launa Klotz, the latter of Milwaukee; two grandchildren, Oliver and Mae Lawrence; and a sister, Mrs. Jacob Rieck of Plymouth. Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, at 11 a.m. at the Gospel Tabernacle, with the Rev. A. C. Liebelt officiating. The body will then be brought to Kiel where it will lie in state at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home here from 1 to 2 p.m., at which time services will be held. MICHELLE L. PINGEL Michelle L. Pingel, 42, of Kiel, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon, January 29, 2010 at her home. She is the former Michelle Barts, born February 27, 1967 in Sheboygan, daughter of Merlin Barts and the late Madolin (Krimmel) Barts. Michelle attended Kiel High School. On October 1, 1986 she married Christopher Pingel. She most recently was employed at Sargento Foods in Kiel and had previously worked at Art Unlimited in New Holstein and Econo Foods in Kiel. In her free time she enjoyed crafts, scrapbooking and camping. CLARA PLATZ Mrs. Clara Platz, 87, of Route 1, Elkhart Lake, widow of Leonard Platz, died unexpectedly Wednesday night at home. The former Clara Schmahl was born Jan 10, 1892, in the town of Rhine, a daughter of George and Eva Holzman Schmahl. She attended district school. On May 16, 1916, she and Mr. Platz were married in Kiel. The couple farmed in the Town of Rhine. Mr. Platz died November 16, 1975. LEONARD PLATZ Leonard L. Platz, 82, Route 1, Elkhart Lake, a Town of Rhine farmer, died Sunday morning at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. He was born April 20, 1893 in the Town of Russell, a son of John and Selma Thalheim Platz. He attended the district school. On May 16, 1916 he married Clara Schmahl. The couple located on a farm in the Town of Rhine. The celebrated their 59th wedding aniversary. He was a former clerk of the Harrison School District for 18 years and a former director and secretary-treasurer of the Sheboygan County Farm Bureau. DELYLE O. POLSTER DeLyle O. Polster, 55 of 1147 Cleveland St., Kiel, died unexpectedly at his home Sunday morning, following a heart attack. He was born May 1, 1927, in the Town of Russell and son of the late Louie and Katie Schuler Polster. He attended Stockbridge High School. Mr. Polster served in the US Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. On June 25, 1955, he and Irene Herwig were married at St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel. The couple made their home in Kiel and Mr. Polster worked at Kohler Co. the past 28 years. He was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, and the Kohler Co. Quarter Century Club. JUDITH POLSTER and TERRY POLSTER Falls Woman, Son, 2, Killed in Iowa Crash Monticello, Iowa – A weekend trip to visit a friend ended in tragedy for a Sheboygan Falls family near noon Saturday when their car was sideswiped, went out of control and slammed head on into another auto. Victims of the crash were: Mrs. Judith Polster, 24, of 531 Madison St., Sheboygan Falls. Terry Lee Polster, 2, her son. Three Others Hurt Mrs. Polster’s husband, Clarence, 32, and two other children, are listed in fair condition at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Jones County authorities said the Polsters’ 1967 Rebel station wagon and a 1963 Rambler driven by Frank Ellwood, 78, of R. 3, Monticello, sideswiped on a Highway 151 curve about a half mile northeast of here at 11:50 a.m. The impact tore the left front fender and door off the Polster auto. The Ellwood car careened off the left side of the road through a ditch and into a field, but the Polster car continued down the highway some 250 feet and collided head on with an oncoming car. Officers reported that the other car, driven by Melvin Schmitt, 49, of Epworth, Iowa, was spun around in the opposite direction, deputies said, while the Polster car came to a stop in the ditch on the left side of the highway. All three cars were demolished. Other Driver Critical Mr. Polster sustained a fractured right leg, lacerations above an eye and on a knee and other bruises and abrasions. His daughter has a fractured hand and elbow and facial injuries, and his son, lacerations and contusions about the face and arms. Schmitt, who was alone in his car, is in critical condition with a skull fracture and two broken legs at the University Hospital in Iowa City. Ellwood and two passengers in his car were not seriously injured. They were treated and released at the Monticello Hospital. Mr. Polster, his two children, and Schmitt were transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital. Schmitt was later taken to the intensive care unit at the hospital at Iowa City. Authorities said the accident is still under investigation. Mr. Polster, an employee of Badger Structures, Inc. of R. 2, Sheboygan Falls, was en route with his family to Center Junction, Iowa to visit a business acquaintance. The acquaintance was identified as James Lux, a representative of the Cuckler Co. here, manufacturers of steel buildings. His home is only 10 miles from the accident scene. Mr. Polster had picked up a load of steel from the Cuckler Co. on Friday and accepted Lux’s invitation to return with his family for a weekend visit. The family had left Sheboygan Falls for Center Junction early Saturday morning. Services Wednesday Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Mrs. Polster and her son, Terry Lee, at St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel. The Rev. KATHERINE POLSTER Rites Held Saturday For Mrs. Louie Polster Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Louie Polster, 64, who died at St. Nicholas hospital Thursday. The services were conducted at St. Peter's United Church of Christ by the Rev. Charles A. Koch. Burial was in the Kiel cemetery. She was born Catherine Schuler July 4, 1897, daughter of the late Henry and Mary Stahlmann Schuler. She attended district schools in the Town of Rhine. She was married to Louie Polster June 28, 1919, in the Town of Russell. The couple farmed in that township and also in Calumet County before moving to Kiel eight years ago. She was a member of the St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, and a member of the Women's Guild of that church. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, seven sons, two sisters, Mrs. Meta Mertens of Kiel and Mrs. Joseph Fabres of Sheboygan; three brothers, Walter of Plymouth, Milton of the Town of Russell and Fred of Manitowoc and 16 grandchildren. LOUIE G. POLSTER (d. 1969) Louie G. Polster, 77, of Kiel, died Sunday night at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. Funeral services for the retired farmer were held Wednesday at St. Peter's United Church of Christ with the Rev. John F. Baumann officiating. Burial was in the Kiel cemetery. The New Holstein American Legion Post conducted a military rite at the grave. Born February 24, 1892 in the Town of Russell, he was a son of the late Otto and Helena Bunge Polster. He married the former Kattie Schuler of the Town of Rhine on June 28, 1919. The couple farmed in the Town of Russell and later at Stockbridge, moving to Kiel in 1953. Mrs. Polster died in July 1961. Mr. Polster had resided at the Toth Nursing Home, Chilton, for five years before entering the hospital several weeks ago. He was a World War I veteran and a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, and American Legion Post 124, New Holstein. LOUIS D. POLSTER (d. 2009) Louis D. Polster, 75, of Kiel, died June 29, 2009 at Homestead Care Center, New Holstein. He was born July 28, 1933 in Stockbridge, son of the late Louie and Katherine Schueler Polster. On October 22, 1955 he was united in marriage to Janet Kloehn at the Methodist Church in Forest Junction. Louis enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing sheepshead, golfing and fixing cars for family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janet of Kiel; two daughters, Jayne (Stephen) Scheuren and Cinda (James) Pennings both of Howards Grove; and five grandchildren, (private). LORINE POMERICH Lorina L. Pomerich, age 91, a resident of Orlando, Fla., passed away on June 9, 2008. Lorina was born on Jan. 30, 1917, in Kiel, daughter of Dr. E.P. and Mrs. Adeline Reiss. On July 27, 1940, she married Milton J. Pomerich of Sheboygan. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage, and had one daughter. MILTON J. POMERICH Milton J. Pomerich, age 84, of Orlando, Fla., died on Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999. Mr. Pomerich was a retired electrical engineer for Martin Marletta. EDNA POPP Mrs. Edna A. (Henry Popp, 93, formerly of 315 Paine Street, Kiel, died Monday morning, Feb. 10, 1922, at the Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, where she had been a resident for the past three years. The former Edna Price was born April 17, 1898, in Greenbush, Wis., daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Zimmerman) Price. She attended school in Greenbush. On December 27, 1922, she married Henry J. Popp in Elkhart Lake. The couple lived in Elkhart Lake and moved to Kiel in 1934, where they operated a service station. They also operated the Kiel Resale Shop, from 1953 until their retirement. Her husband, Henry, died August 5, 1976. ANNA POSTEL Mrs. Anna Postel, 83, of 307 Chicago Street, Kiel, widow of Louis V., died July 22, at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where she had been a patient the past ten days. The former Anna Wandtke, she was born January 10, 1893, in Sheboygan, a daughter of Julius and Augusta Guezo Wandtke. She attended school in Sheboygan. On February 22, 1911, she married Mr. Postel at Oconto Falls. The couple made their home in Sheboygan and at Rogersville before moving to Kiel in 1916. Mr. Postel died on June 6, 1964. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kiel, United Presbyterian Women, General Arts Homemakers, Kiel Garden Club and VFW Auxiliary of Beloit. DANIEL P. POSTEL Daniel P. Postel, 75, of 613 Fourth St., Kiel, died this morning at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan after a brief illness. He was born on April 16, 1882, in Germany, the son of the late Daniel and Mary Postel. He came to this country in 1886 with his parents, who settled in Houghton, Mich. Later the family moved to Port Washington where he received his early education. Following that he moved to the vicinity of Kiel where he was employed on a farm and at several taverns for a number of years. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock, Wednesday afternoon, at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, in Kiel. The Rev. Allen L. ELTON POSTEL Elton R. Postel, 75, of 1006 Sixth St., Kiel, died Saturday morning at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. He was born Oct. 25, 1911, in Fond du Lac County, the son of the late Louis and Anna Wandke Postel. He attended Kiel public schools. Mr. Postel worked at Kiel Bottling Works and Household Utilities, Kiel, for a number of years. He then worked at H. G. Weber Co., Kiel, for 28 years, retiring in 1974. He was a US Navy veteran, serving in World War II in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Postel was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Mead-Allen Post 2306 of Beloit and Kiel Fish and Game Club and was a former member of Kiel Fire Department. EVELYN POSTEL Mrs. Lloyd Postel, 67, of 1996 Sixth Street, Kiel, a former school librarian, died unexpectedly at her home Thursday afternoon. The former Evelyn Roeck was born in Kiel, December 3, 1909, daughter of the late Christian and Helen Duecker Roeck. She was graduated from Kiel High School in 1927 and attended Ripon College and Lawrence University. On July 7, 1946, she married Lloyd Postel at St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Postel served as a librarian at the Kiel Elementary and Meeme Schools. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, the Women’s Guild of the church, a member and former secretary of the Kiel Library Board. Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Gillett, of Skokie, Illinois, and Miss Elizabeth Postel, of Madison. LLOYD POSTEL Lloyd Postel, 77, of 1006 6th Street, Kiel, died Monday morning, April 2, 1990 at St. Nicholas Hospital Sheboygan where he was a patient since Sunday. He was born November 30, 1912 at Rogersville WI (Fond du Lac County), son of the late Louis and Anna Wandtke Postal(sic). He was a graduate of Kiel High School. On July 7, 1946, he married Evelyn Roeck at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Kiel, He was a carpenter and also sold and installed aluminum specialties in Kiel, retiring in 1977. He was an army veteran of World War II, serving in the Battle of the Bulge. His wife Evelyn died on July 28, 1977. He was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ, Kiel, Kiel VFW post 6707, a former deacon and elder of the church and he served on the consistory of the church. LOUIS POSTEL Funeral services were held Monday for Louis V. Postel, 80, of 307 Chicago St., who died Saturday morning at Calumet Memorial hospital, Chilton. He was born October 17, 1883, in Germany, the son Valentine and Mary Postel. Mr. Postel learned the machinist trade in Sheboygan and worked at that trade for 61 years. He moved to Kiel in 1916 where he operated his own shop and then was employed at the H. G. Weber Co. for 13 years. He retired in 1957. He was married to Anna Wandke of Sheboygan February 23, 1911. Mr. Postel was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kiel, the Kiel Redmen Lodge, and the 24-Hour Club of the lodge. AUGUST E. PRAHL August E. Prahl, who at 95 was Kiel’s oldest resident, died early today of a lingering illness. Mr. and Mrs. Prahl, who observed their 70th wedding anniversary in January, 1959, lived at 910 6th St. They had come to Kiel 34 years ago. A native of Waupaca County, Mr. Prahl was born Dec. 17, 1864, a son of the late August and Florentine Schoenick Prahl. He married Mary Severns of Pittsville (Wood County), Jan. 13, 1889, at the Presbyterian Church in Marshfield. Following marriage the couple lived in Pittsville and Marshfield where Mr. Prahl was employed in a barrel stave factory. Later they farmed near New London and then in the Town of Schleswig near Kiel before retiring to that city. For 11 years he had been custodian of Kiel’s First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of that congregation and of its Men’s Club. Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. August G. (Vera) Schmidt, Chilton, Mrs. Milton G. (Reah) Christel, Kiel, Mrs. Gerald (Irene) Norman, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Ferdinand (Gladys) Aschenbach, Sheboygan; 14 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. A son, Howard, whose widow, Hilma, resides in the Town of Schleswig, died in 1951. Also preceding him were three infant daughters, two brothers and two sisters. EMMA PRAHL Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Mrs. August E. Prahl, 92, former Kiel resident, who died Thursday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. August G. Schmidt, Chilton. She had been living there three years. The services were performed at the First Presbyterian Church of Kiel with the Rev. George L. Hentschier, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Sheboygan, officiating. Burial was made in the Kiel Cemetery. The Royal Neighbors held a memorial service Sunday evening. Mrs. Prahl, nee Emma Severns, was born December 16, 1871, at Pittsville, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Severns, She was married to August Prahl of New London January 13, 1889, at Marshfield Presbyterian Church. They lived at New London and then moved to Manitowoc County and operated farms in the towns of Schleswig and Liberty. They moved to Kiel 40 years ago. The couple observed its 70th wedding anniversary in January, 1959. Mr. Prahl died in December of that year. She was a member of Ruth Circle of the Women’s Association of the Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Missionary Society, now consolidated with the Women’s Assn., and Royal Neighbors Lodge. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Schmidt and Mrs. Milton Christel of Kiel, Mrs. Irene Bauman of Milwaukee and Mrs. Ferdinand Aschenbach of Sheboygan, 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. MARTIN H. QUAL, REV. The Rev. Martin H. Qual, 80, retired Evangelical and Reformed pastor, passed away this morning at Sheboygan Memorial hospital after an illness. He had been hospitalized here since late in March after coming here from Tampa, Fla., where he had resided for the past 17 years. The Rev. Mr. Qual was born in Schambeck, Germany, Jan. 20, 1869, came to the United States as a young man and, after studying at a seminary in Bloomfield, N.J., served pastorates at various communities in New Jersey, New York and Michigan. He is survived by one son, Alfred, of Sheboygan. His wife died in 1931 and one son, Lawrence, was killed in action in World War I. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Zion Reformed church, the Rev. E. H. Wessler officiating.
