AGNES BECKER Mrs. Agnes Becker, wife of Reinhard Becker, passed away Friday afternoon at the home of her son, Fred, in the town of Rhine. Mrs. Becker was born in the town of Rhine on November 1, 1863, and was married to Reinhard Becker on June 4, 1890. She was a member of the Christian Mothers’ Society. Survivors are her husband, three sons and two daughters, Mrs. William (Frances) Reiser of Glenbeulah, Mrs. George (Eleanor) Schmahl of Town Rhine, Fred and Anton of Town Rhine; and Raymond of Milwaukee; 18 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Five sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock at the Meiselwttz Funeral Home, and at 9:30 o’clock at the St. George church in Elkhart Lake. The Rev. Henry R. Langenfeld officiated, and burial was made in the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic cemetery here. 1944


ANTON V. BECKER Anton V. Becker, 81, Route 1, Elkhart Lake, died Thursday afternoon at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where he had been admitted earlier in the day. He was born June 13, 1903, in the Town of Rhine, a son of the late Reinhard and Agnes Mueller Becker. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School, Kiel, and Kiel High School. On Aug. 11, 1924, he married Erma Wendel in Charlesburg. The couple farmed in the town of Rhine, and he was employed at A.A. Laun Furniture Co., Kiel for 20 years, until retiring in 1967. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, its Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, Kiel Senior Citizens, the National Trappers Association, and was past vice president of Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Cyril (Cyrilla) Niquette and Mrs. Gerald (Geraldine) Hollenbeck, both of New Holstein, Mrs. Eugene (Bernice) Reineck, of Kiel; two sons, Elroy, Route 1, Elkhart Lake, and Stan, of Dallas, Texas; 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a grandson, two brothers and two sisters. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas Leannah, pastor, will be celebrant of the Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. No newspaper named – June 6, 1985

ELEANOR BECKER Mrs. Fred V. Becker, 58, of Route 1, Elkhart Lake, died early Sunday at her farm home in Town Rhine, four miles northeast of Elkhart Lake, after a lingering illness. She had been bed-ridden for the past six years. Nee Eleanor Schoon, she was born Sept. 21, 1896, at Milwaukee, a daughter of the late Herman and Gertrude Schoon. She was married to Fred Becker at Milwaukee on Aug. 28, 1917. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Milwaukee until 1932 when they moved to the present homestead farm in the town of Rhine. Mrs. Becker was a member of St. George’s Catholic Church at Elkhart Lake and the Christian Mothers’ Society of the parish. Only immediate survivors are her husband and a sister, Mrs. William Knetzger, of Milwaukee. In addition to her parents, two sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home, Kiel, and at 10 a.m. at St. George’s Church at Elkhart Lake. The Rev. J. H. Gable, pastor, will be the celebrant of the requiem high mass. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul cemetery at Kiel. The body will lie in state at the funeral home after noon Tuesday. Parishoners of St. George’s Church will hold a vigil at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Father Gable will lead the rosary.


ELISABETHA BECKER Mrs. Becker Is Called to Rest at Glenbeulah Elkhart Lake. - (Special) - Mrs. Elizabeth Becker, 84, passed away at 11 p.m. Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rose Ziegler, at Glenbeulah. Mrs. Becker, nee Elizabeth Zimmermann, was born in Germany July 17, 1854. She came with her parents to this country in 1883 and settled on a farm in the town of Rhine, one mile west of Rhine Center. She moved to Elkhart Lake in 1909 and for the past 17 years has resided with her daughter. Her husband, Henry, preceded her in death on July 8, 1918. She is survived by two sons, Adam Becker of the town of Russell and Henry Becker of the town of Rhine; three daughters, Mrs. Ziegler of Glenbeulah, Mrs. William Gottsacker of Sheboygan and Mrs. Mathilda Trowbridge of Hayward, Wis. Three sons, Philip, Matthias and Edward, and two daughters, Anna and Lena, preceded their mother in death. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. George's Catholic church at Elkhart Lake. The Rev. A.J. Reinl will officiate and burial will be in the Kiel cemetery. The celebrant was the Rev. Oscar Ziegler of St. Francis, brother-in-law of Mrs. Rose Ziegler, an he was assisted by the Rev. A.J. July of Plymouth and the Rev. A.J. Reinl of Elkhart Lake. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery at Kiel, the six grandsons of the deceased acting as pallbearers: The Christian Mothers society of St. George parish of which Mrs. Becker had been a member for many years, escorted the body at the funeral. ELROY C. BECKER Elroy C. Becker, 84, of Elkhart Lake, died peacefully Friday morning, July 24, 2009 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. He was born in the Town of Rhine on December 15, 1924, son of the late Anton and Irma (Wendel) Becker. On April 9, 1947 he married Delores Voss at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. Elroy had previously been employed at Tri-County Co-Op in Kiel for five years and 15 years at the former Puetz Motors Sales, Kiel. He had been employed at Kohler Company for 22 years, retiring in 1987. In his retirement he was part-owner of Becker Birds, Inc. game farm. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and the Hermitage Conservation Club, where he was the treasurer and was on the board of directors for 20 years. Earlier in his life, he played with his father in the Tony Becker Orchestra. Elroy enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing, trapping and snowmobiling. He had a talent to build parade floats and won numerous awards for his efforts. He also enjoyed his "trips to town" where he socialized with his friends. The funeral mass for Elroy will be celebrated at Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. FRED V. BECKER Fred V. Becker, 62, of Route 1, Elkhart Lake, died at 1 a.m. today at St Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, where he had been a patient for the past five weeks. Born in the town of Rhine on March 3, 1894, the son of the late Reinhardt and Agnes Mueller Becker, he was married Aug. 28, 1917, to the former Eleanor Schoon of Milwaukee. For 19 years after his marriage he was employed in Milwaukee by the Ford Motor Co. The couple moved to the town of Rhine in 1936 where they operated a farm. Soon after the death of his wife in January of 1955 he disposed of the farm and made his home with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Becker. Survivors are his father, Reinhardt Becker, a resident of the Anna M. Reiss Home; two sisters, Mrs William Reiser of New Holstein and Mrs. Ella Schmahl of Route 1, Elkhart Lake; two brothers, Raymond of Milwaukee, and Anton of Route 1, Elkhart Lake. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St George Catholic Church at Elkhart Lake following brief services at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home at Kiel at 9 o’clock. The Rev. Francis C. Sutschek will be the celebrant of the requiem mass and burial will be in the St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Cemetery at Kiel. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon. Mr. Becker was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. George parish and members of that society will recite the rosary at the funeral home at 8 p. m. Sunday. HEINRICH BECKER Henry Becker Sr. a prominent citizen of Elkhart Lake passed away last Tuesday after a lengthy illness. He was born August 30, 1851 in Hessen-Darmstadt and lived to be 67 years. On August 3rd, 1874 he was married to Elizabeth (nee Zimmermann) and the family came to America in 1883 and they bought a farm one mile west of Rhine Center in Town Rhine in 1885. He was also a mason contractor for some time until 1908 and went to Elkhart Lake after selling his farm. He is survived by the following children; Adam of Town Russell; Henry of Town Rhine; Mrs. Wm. Buechel and Philip Becker of Milwaukee; Mrs. W. Gottsacker of Sheboygan; Mrs. Philip Menne of Kiel; Math Becker of St. Nazianz and Rose Becker and Mrs. Dr. Trowbridge at home; also a brother, Math Becker of Kiel and three sisters all living in a retirement home. The funeral is from the Catholic St. George Church in Elkhart Lake and burial is in the Kiel cemetery with Rev. Father Hueppchen officiating. Plymouth Post, July 20, 1918


IRMA A. BECKER Irma Anna Becker, 95, a resident of Willowpark, New Holstein, formerly of the Town of Rhine, died Sunday morning, Dec. 24, 2000 at Willowdale Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein. She is the former Irma Wendel born Dec. 27, 1905 in Marytown daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Vollmer Wendel. She attended Charlesburg Catholic School. On Aug 11, 1924, Irma married Anton Becker in Charlesburg. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1985. The couple farmed in the Town of Rhine. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, Christian Womens Society and the Daughters of Isabell. She also was a member of the Bar-None Square Dancers, active in the Band Mothers and a member of the Kiel Senior Citizens. Irma enjoyed quilting, dancing, playing sheepshead and spending time with her family. Survivors include three daughters, Cyrilla (Cyril) Niquette, New Holstein, Geraldine (Gerald) Hollenbeck, New Holstein, Bernice (Eugene) Reineck, Kiel; two sons, Elroy (Delores) Becker, Elkhart Lake and Stan (Lynn) Becker, Dallas, Texas. She is further survived by 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; one sister, Josephine Klapperich, Marytown; and one sister-in-law, Adela Wendel, New Holstein. She was preceded in death by an infant son, four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel with the Rev. Loren Nys SDS officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.


MAGDALENA BECKER ST NAZIANZ: Mrs. Magdelena Becker died at the home of her son-in-law, C. Mertz, Monday, at the age of 83 years. The deceased, nee Magdelena Hein, was born in Germany and came to this country, at the age of fifteen years, with her parents who settled in Sheboygan County. She is survived by five sons, Alex, Anton and Joseph of Milwaukee, Reinhard of Kiel, and Peter of Waverly, Wash.; five daughters, Mrs. Jos. Hoffman of Charlesburg, Mrs. A. Schneider of Rockfield, Mrs. J. Holzschuh of Elkhart Lake, Mrs. John Schwoerer and Mrs. Chris. Mertz of St. Nazianz; two brothers, Godfred Hein of Waverly, Wash., and Anton Hein of Kiel; and one sister, Mrs. K. Sturm of Milwaukee. The funeral services were held this forenoon, Rev. E. MARTHA BECKER Mrs. Martha Becker, 83, of R. 2, Elkhart Lake, former long-time resident of Kiel, died Saturday night at St. Nicholas Hospital where she had been a patient for three months. She was born Feb. 15, 1877, in Millhome, a daughter of the late Peter and Johanna Kaiser. She attended school at Millhome and married Mathias Becker on Nov. 23, 1895. Following the marriage they moved to Kiel where Mr. Becker was employed as a mason and later by the Kiel Furniture factory. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1942. Mrs. Becker continued to live in Kiel until a year ago when she moved to the home of a son-in- law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Nick (Norma) Dickrell of R. 2, Elkhart Lake. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, its Christian Mothers Society and the G.U.G. Germania Society. Survivors, in addition to Mrs. Dickrell, are another daughter, Mrs. Fred (Margaret) Widerholdt of Milwaukee; two brothers, Henry and Robert Kaiser, Kiel; 21 grandchildren an 56 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by four daughters. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ss. On Novemher 23, 1895, he married Martha Kaiser of Millhome. The family had lived here since. For the past 25 years he was employed in the finishing department of the A. A. Laun Furniture Company here. Survivors are his widow; five daughters; 21 grandchildren, two of whom live at the Holy Family Convent at Silver Lake; and two great-grand-children. Funeral services were held at 9:30 o’clock Tuesday morning at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and at 10 o’clock at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, with interment in the church cemetery. REINHARD BECKER Reinhard Becker Dies Tuesday at Sheboygan Reinhard Becker, aged 90, died Tuesday at the Anna M. Reiss home at Sheboygan after an illness of about five weeks. He was born in Town Rhine, November 23, 1866, the son of the late Christian and Magdalene Becker. He married Agnes Mueller in 1890. They resided on a farm in Town Rhine until 1934. After that he made his home with a son Fred, until 1955 when he entered the Reiss home. His wife died April 7, 1944. Survivors include four children, Mrs. William Reiser, Manitowoc; Mrs. Ella Schmahl, Elkhart Lake; Raymond, Milwaukee, and Anton on the homestead farm in Rhine; 19 grandchildren, 52 great-grand- children and two great-great-grandchildren. A son Fred preceded him in death. He was a member of the Holy Name society and the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 9 a. m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home and at 9:30 a. m. at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church, with Rev. George Kiefer officiating. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery. The rosary will be recited after the 7:45 p. m. service Friday. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p. m. Friday. 10-29-1957


KAY BECKLEY Kay Roselyn Beckley, 7-year-old daughter of Wilbur and Loretta (Schabach) Beckley, of 731 First St., Kiel, died Thursday afternoon at University Hospital in Madison. The deceased underwent surgery last Monday. She was born on March 26, 1952, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, and completed first grade at Ss. Peter & Paul School, in Kiel, this spring. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Monday morning at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, following brief services at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home at 9:30. Celebrant of the Mass of the Angels will be the Rev. George Kiefer. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. KIM KAREN BECKLEY The Rev. George Kiefer, pastor of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, officiated at the graveside service held at the parish cemetery at 9:30 a.m. today for Kim Karen, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Beckley, 733 First St., Kiel. The infant died soon after birth Monday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital. Besides the parents, the infant is survived by three sisters, one brother, the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Frank Schalbach, Hilbert and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Beckley, Kiel. LORETTA BECKLEY Loretta M. Beckley, 67, of 733 First St., Kiel, died Thursday Aug. 10. 1995 at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein. She is the former Loretta Schabach, born May 10, 1928 in rural Hilbert, daughter of the late Frank and Theresa Mueller Schabach. She attended grade school in Hilbert. On May 21, 1947 she married Wilber Beckley at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert. She worked at the former Hanson Glove Factory in Kiel, Tecumseh Products in New Holstein, Millhome Supper Club and most recently for the Kiel School District. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, where she was a member of the Christian Woman’s Society and the Kiel VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Wilber; five children, Kenneth (Judith) of Sheboygan, Karen of Jefferson, Kathy (Harold) Konen of Kiel, Kristine (Joe) Huettl of Wausau and Kurt of Kiel; five grandchildren; two brothers, Roland Schabach of Appleton and Leander (Katherine ) Schabach of Hilbert; and two sisters, Dorothy (Leo) Grishaber of Appleton and Barbara “Bette” (Clarence) Hemauer of Hilbert. She was preceded in death by two children, Kay and Kim. Funeral services were held at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Loren Nys SDS officiating. WILBUR BECKLEY Wilbur E. Beckley, 79, formerly of Kiel died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003 at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein where he had been a resident for the last years. He was born in Kiel on March 3, 1924, son of the late Edward and Theresa (Lax) Bechle. Wilbur attended Kiel Schools. Wilbur was a veteran of the US Army. He served as a Private First Class with Company H. of the 143rd Infantry and was injured in France. Wilbur married the former Loretta Schabach at St. Mary’s Church in Hilbert on May 21, 1947. She preceded him in death on August 10, 1995. In his earlier years Wilbur was employed by numerous farmers in the area and Roecks Bakery. He also worked at Tecumseh Products for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society, VFW Post # 6707, and a former member of the Kiel Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed fishing and bike riding. He also enjoyed bowling and had a 300 game to his credit while bowling the Thursday Night Industrial League. ANITA T. BERNARD Anita T. Bernard, age 83, of New Holstein, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at the St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 24, 1921, in Sherwood, a daughter of the late Henry and Alice Joas Koehler. On Sept. 27, 1938 she married Harvey Bernard in Sherwood. He preceded her in death in 1979. Anita was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. She is survived by one son, Larry (Donna) Bernard of Kiel; four daughters, Joan (Jerry) Broehm of Brillion, Bette (Allen) Buchholz of Kiel, Jane (John ) Korb of St. Cloud, and Sue (Thomas) Muellenbach of New Holstein; 13 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur (Germaine ) Koehler of Kingsmen, Ariz., Melvin (Donna) Koehler of Como, Texas, and Jerome (Karen) Koehler of Sturgeon Bay; and three sisters, Sally Braatz-Krause of New London, Dorothy Van Asten of Kaukauna, and Martha (Robert) Nett of Chilton. She is further survived by Norma Bernard of Chilton. Anita was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Lonnie; one daughter, Sandra; one sister, Monica; and one brother, Ronald. HARVEY BERNARD Private funeral services were held Tuesday for Harvey J. Bernard, 69, of Route 1, Kiel, who died Monday at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan. The Rev. Francis Kerscher, pastor, was celebrant of the funeral Mass at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, Kiel. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Bernard was born September 24, 1909, in the town of Woodville, a son of Frank and Catherine Tilger Bernard. He attended St. Mary School, Chilton. On September 27, 1938, he married the former Anita Koehler at Sherwood. The couple resided in Chilton until 1947, when they moved to a farm at Route 1, Kiel. Mr. Bernard retired in 1968 due to ill health. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Kiel Senior Citizens. LONNIE BERNARD Kiel, Wis. -(AP) - Five-year-old Lonnie Arthur Bernard, route 1, Kiel, was killed instantly today when he was struck by an automobile while walking across Highway 149 near here. Kiel. - Little Lonnie Arthur Bernard, 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bernard, route 1, Kiel, was crossing the highway to reach the family mail box across from his home when he was struck and killed by a milk truck about 11 a.m. Friday. Dr. Theodore Teitgen, Manitowoc county coroner, said the boy was thrown to the pavement and died instantly of a skull fracture. The truck was driven by Jerome Neumeyer, 24, of route 2, Reedsville. Coroner Teitgen said an inquest will be held. The youngster was born in the town of Chilton on Jan. 23, 1944. Three years ago the family moved to their present home in town of Schleswig. SANDY K. BERNARD Sandra Kay Bernard, 19, of Route 1, Kiel, died Friday afternoon at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center, Neenah, of injuries sustained in an August 13, double mortorcycle crash. She was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by her fiance, Joseph Korb, 21, of Route 1, St. Cloud, who was killed in the accident, which occurred on the Kiel Road in the town of Calumet near Marytown. The driver of the other motorcycle, Floyd Brill, Jr., 33, of route 1, Malone, also was killed in the mishap. She was born in Chilton August 1, 1959, a daughter of Harvey and Anita Koehler Bernard. She attended Kiel area schools, and in 1977 graduated from Kiel High School. She was a carton stamper at the Leverenz Shoe Company, New Holstein, and during her high school years was employed as a janitor at the high school. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Survivors are her parents; one brother, Larry, at home; four sisters, Mrs. Jerome Broehm, Route 2, Brillion, Mrs. Allen Buchholz, route 1, Kiel, Mrs. Thomas Muellenbach, route 1, Malone, and Mrs. John Korb, route 1, St. Cloud, and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Alice Koehler of Kaukauna. ANNE J. BEUMLER Miss Beumler of Kiel Is Summoned after an Illness. Kiel -(Special)- Miss Anna Beumler, 28, died early this morning in Wisconsin General hospital, Madison, where she had been a patient since last fall. She was born in the town of New Holstein, May 4, 1911, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Beumler. The family moved to a farm on Highway 32 east of Kiel, and Miss Beumler attended a parochial school here. ANTON BEUMLER Rites Held Saturday For Anton Beumler Funeral services were held Saturday morning for Anton Beumler, 84, who died at his home Wednesday afternoon. He had been ill but a short time The Rev. F.X. Kheil celebrated the requiem mass and burial was made in the parish cemetery. (pallbearers named) Mr. Beumler was born in the town of Lima, Sheboygan county, March 14, 1872, the son of the late Mathias and Pentronella Weiers Beumler. He married Johanna Vande Loo, town of Lima, June 12, 1906, at St. George Catholic church near Sheboygan Falls and the couple farmed for 40 years near Kiel. They moved to this city on retirement 12 years ago. Surviving him are his wife; a son, three daughters, 20 grand- children and five great-grandchildren. IRENE A. BEUMLER Irene A. Beumler, 82, of 828 Sixth Street, Kiel, died early Tuesday, November 5, at the home of her daughter, Paulette Baus. The former Irene Seichter was born April 8, 1909, in Charlesburg, Calumet County, daughter of the late John and Anna Wettstein Seichter. On November 16, 1931, she married Joseph Beumler in Charlesburg. He died April 14, 1970. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. She was past president of the Christian Mothers and GUG Germania Society in Kiel and the Kiel Senior Citizens. Survivors are nine daughters, Clarice Gierke of Menasha; Elva (John) Thornton of Wauwatosa; Corrine (Eugene) Winkel of Kiel; JoAnn (Robert) Kirk of Appleton; Mildred (Donald ) Vogel of rural Kiel; Janet (Col. D. L.) Meek of Huntsville, Alabama; Marilyn (Tony) Baldini of Whitefish Bay; Eileen (Michael) Gerrity of Appleton; Paulette (Dr. Michael) Baus of rural Kiel; 27 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one sister, Helen Gebhard of Fond du Lac. JOHANNA BEUMLER Mrs. Johanna Beumler, 79, of R. 2, Kiel, widow of Anton, died at 3 p.m. Sunday in St. Nicholas Hospital. She had been hospitalized since last Wednesday. The former Johanna VandeLoo, was born in the Town of Lima, Feb. 28, 1886, a daughter of the late Peter and Magdalene VandeLoo. Her marriage to Mr. Beumler took place at St. George's Catholic Church, Six Corners, June 12, 1906. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig until 1944 when they retired and moved to Kiel. Since the death of her husband in April, 1956, she had been living with her children. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish, Kiel, and its Christian Mothers Society. Surviving are a son, Joseph, on the home Schleswig farm, R. 2, Kiel; three daughters, Mrs. Lester (Marie) Jugenheimer, R. 2, Kiel, Mrs. Ellsworth (Angeline) Gross, Sheboygan Falls, and Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy) Heus, St. Anna; 21 grandchildren and 24 great- grandchildren. JOSEPH J. BEUMLER Joseph J. Beumler, 61, of R. 2, Kiel, died Tuesday evening at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. He had been admitted to the hospital a day earlier. A retired farmer, he was born May 11, 1908, at Six Corners, Town of Wilson, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Beumler. The family later moved to the Town of Schleswig. On May 16, 1931, he was married to Irene Seichter of Charlesburg at St. Charles Catholic Church. They operated a farm east of Kiel until 4 1/2 years ago. Since then he had been employed at Kiel Foundry. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, the Holy Name Society and Kiel Fish and Game Club. Surviving are his wife and nine daughters, 16 grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Lester Jugenheimer, Kiel, Mrs. Clifford Heus, St. Anna, and Mrs. Ellsworth Gross, Sheboygan Falls. LORETTA BEUMLER Miss Beumler of Kiel Passes Away Tuesday Evening. Kiel. -Miss Loretta Beumler, aged 18, died at ten o'clock Tuesday evening at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Beumler, who live near Kiel. Her early death, which came as a great shock to the family, is being mourned by many friends. Although Miss Beumler had been in ill health for the past few months, her condition was not regarded critical. Miss Beumler was born in the Town of Schleswig January 4, 1913. She attended the parochial school at Kiel and later stayed at home. Besides her parents, she is survived by a brother, Joseph, four sisters, Anna, Angeline and Dorothea, at home, and Mrs. Lester Jugenheimer, Kiel. One brother, William, preceded his sister in death ten months ago. ADELA BLATZ Adela E. Blatz, 76, of 21211 Highway 57, Kiel, died Friday afternoon at her home. She had been in ill health for the past several months. The former Adela Wagner was born Aug. 30, 1906, in St. Peter, a daughter of Michael and Anna Koenig Wagner. She attended parochial school in St. Peter. She married Gregor Blatz on Sept. 17, 1929, at St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter. The couple lived in the Johnsburg area and in New Holstein before moving to the Town of Schleswig. The couple celebrated their golden anniversary in 1979. Mrs. Blatz was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel and the Christian Mothers Society. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. James (Mary Jane) Platz of Howards Grove, and Mrs. James (Jerriann) Edries of Kiel; three sons, Glenroy of Kiel, Marvin of rural Kiel, and Eugene of St. Nazianz; 28 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Wollersheim and Mrs. Victor Braun, both of St. Peter, and Mrs. Marcelline Colby of Fond du Lac, and two brothers, Lawrence and Jerome Wagner both of Fond du Lac. CHARLES J. BLATZ Charles “Chuck” J. Blatz, 28, of 415 North Street, Kiel, recently a student at UW-Plattesville died unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 28, 1997 in LaCrosse. He was born March 31, 1969 in Chilton, the son of Glenroy and Henrietta (Pask) Blatz. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Grade School and was a 1987 graduate of Kiel High School. Chuck was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1988-1992. For the past two summers, he was employed at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course, Glenview, Illinois. Chuck enjoyed playing golf, fishing and pool. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. Survivors include his parents, Glenroy and Hennie; two sisters, Paula (Rick) Ninmer, New Holstein and Jenny Blatz, Kiel; one brother, Barry (Kay) Blatz, Newton; two nieces and two nephews. GLENROY GREGOR BLATZ Glenroy G. Blatz, 68, of Kiel, died Friday evening May 7, 1999 at his home. He was born August 30, 1930, in the town of Taycheedah son of the late Gregor and Adela (Wagner) Blatz. He was a graduate of Kiel high School class of 1948. He also attended UW-Madison. From 1951 until 1953 Glenroy was a member of United States Marine corps. On Nov. 10, 1962, he married the former Henrietta Pask at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Until his retirement in 1996, Glenroy was employed by H.G. Weber for 39 years. At the time of his retirement he held the position of design engineer. He was an active member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was also a lifelong member of the Kiel Fish and Game, during which time he held a variety of offices, was involved in many projects, committees, and club improvements. Most recently he was on the banquet committee. Glenroy enjoyed trap shooting, pheasant hunting and his springer spaniel, fishing, bowling and woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Hennie; their children, Paula (Rick) Ninmer of New Holstein, Barry (Kay) Blatz of Kiel, Jenny Blatz and her fiancé Nick York of Kiel; five grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Marvin (Arlene) Blatz of Kiel and Eugene (Doris) Blatz of Sheboygan Falls; two sisters, Mary Jane (James) Platz of Howards Grove and Jerrann (James) Endures of Valders. GREGOR BLATZ Gregor J. Blatz, 80, of 300 South Sixth Street, St. Nazianz, a former rural Kiel resident, died Tuesday afternoon at Holy Family Medical center, Manitowoc, after apparently suffering a heart attack at his home. He was born June 19, 1906, in Mount Calvary a son of the late Charles and Gertrude Schneider Blatz. He attended Holy Cross Catholic School, Mount Calvary. On September 17, 1929, he married Adela Wagner at St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter. She died April 29, 1983. He was employed at Arps Corporation, New Holstein, until retiring in 1971. Mr. Blatz was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. MARVIN C. BLATZ Marvin C. Blatz, 73, of Town Line Road, Kiel, died Friday morning, July 29, 2005, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center after a short battle with cancer. He was born in the town of Marshfield, near Mt. Calvary, son of the late Gregor and Adela Wagner Blatz. Marvin attended Johnsburg and Kiel schools. On May 12, 1962, he married Arlene Lax at St. Gregory Catholic church, St. Nazianz. The couple farmed in the area until 1994, when they retired. Marvin was an avid bowler belonging to two leagues at the Beacon in New Holstein and was an avid golfer at Hickory Hills in a number of leagues. He had the honor of a Hole-in-One at Hickory Hills. Survivors include his wife, Arlene; two daughters, Karen (Mark) Schaller, Green Bay, Barbara (Greg) Wanta, Collierville, Tenn.; three sons, Mark (Joleen) Blatz, Tom (Stacy) Blatz and Joseph (Beth) Blatz, all of Kiel; and 12 grandchildren. ELEANOR BOLZ Mrs. Eleanor Bolz, 79, widow of Joseph F., a former Kiel resident, died Sunday morning at Calumet Homestead in New Holstein. The former Eleanor Anhalt, she was born March 4, 1900, in the town of Schleswig, a daughter of Frank and Anna Alterberger Anhalt. She attended district schools. On January 27, 1920, she was married to Mr. Bolz at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. The couple resided at Random Lake for several years and then operated a farm in the Town of Schleswig. She attended district schools in the area and was married to Joseph F. Bolz Jan. 27, 1920, in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. The couple lived in Random Lake several years before locating on a farm in the Town of Schleswig, moving to Kiel in 1962. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1970. Mr. Bolz preceded her a (sic) in death Feb. 3, 1970. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Society of the church and a former member of Kiel Senior Citizens. Survivors include four sons, Frank of Thiensville, Jerome and Joseph Jr. of Port Washington and Frederick of Elkhart Lake; three daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Carmen) Schmidt of Milwaukee, Mrs. June Arenz of Kiel and Mrs. Marion Euler of Chilton; a sister, Mrs. John Stauber of St. Nazianz, 29 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. EVA BOLZ The angel of death claimed Mrs. John R. Bolz, nee Eva Heimerl, on Wednesday morning, after a lengthy illness which led to inflammation of the brain. She was born in Marytown, on July 4, 1874. On June 20, 1893, she was united in marriage to Mr. Bolz and the couple resided on a farm about 2 miles west of Kiel, moving to this city in 1907. Her husband was employed by Meyer Bros. Co., but had to give up his position owing to poor health some time ago. The survivors are her husband, her mother, Mrs. Magdalena Heimerl; four daughters, Rose of Evanston, Ill., Olive, Salvina and Fidelia at home; two sons, Michael of Hayton, and Joseph of Fredonia; four brothers, Joseph and John Heimerl of Fredonia, Frank of St. Nazianz and Ben of Marytown; five sisters, Mrs. Jac. Ehlenbeck of St. Anna, Mrs. Ben Schaub, Mrs. Anna Gilgenbach, and Mrs. Walter Frank of Fond du Lac, and Mrs. John Gelling of Montana; also five grandchildren. FRANZ BOLZ Here, in the home of his son John Bolz where he has lived the for the last years, Mr. Franz Bolz died at the age of 86 years due to the weakness of old age. The deceased was born in Munich, Bavaria, Germany on June 3, 1831 and came to America 50 years ago. For many years he worked in Town Russell as a servant. In 1863 he married Mary Kleiler from Schleisingerville and in the same year they moved to a farm in Town New Holstein two miles west of Kiel, where he lived until 1907. Since then he has lived mostly with his son John in Kiel. The marriage was blessed with seven children, of which three sons and one daughter are still living, all of which except John lived in Minnesota. His wife died in 1893. The burial took place on Monday at the Catholic Cemetery with Father Runkel officiating. 1917 (translated from German)


JOHN BOLZ FORMER KIEL MERCHANT DIES IN SHEBOYGAN HOSPITAL John L. Bolz, former Kiel resident, who for three years has been confined at the St. Nicholas hospital at Sheboygan, passed away there this week at the age of 61 years. For years he lived on a farm two miles from Kiel and in 1907 exchanged his farm for the furniture and undertaking establishment of Henry Klein which he managed until 1914, when he retired. JOSEPH BOLZ (d. 1970) Joseph F. Bolz, 75, of R. 2, Kiel, died unexpectedly Tuesday at the home of his son, Jerome, in Port Washington, where he and his wife had been visiting. Born May 27, 1894 in the Town of New Holstein, he was a son of the late John an Eva Heimerl Bolz. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School, Kiel, and Kiel High School. On Jan. 27, 1920 he married the former Eleanor Anhalt of the Town of Schleswig. The couple lived at Random Lake for several years and then located on a farm in the Town of Schleswig. In 1952 they moved to Kiel where he was employed at Foremost Dairy and for the past 13 years at A.T. Hipke Canning Co. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish and its Holy Name Society. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary on Jan. 25. Mr. Bolz was a WW I veteran, having served in Germany. He was awarded the purple heart for wounds received in the Argonne Forest. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, four sons, 30 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Four sisters, Mrs. Fidelia Macy and Mrs. Sally Krampe, both of Wawautosa, Mrs. Harold Schroeder of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Walter Masden of Sheboygan, and one brother, Michael J. of Chilton, also survive. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Kiel. The Rev. BRIAN BOWE Brian Robert Bowe, 15, of 615 Calumet Avenue, Kiel, died Tuesday shortly after being admitted to the Plymouth Hospital. In ill health for several years, he had been residing at Rocky Knoll the past one and one-half years. Born March 28, 1963, in Sheboygan, a son of Charles and Madonna Meyer Bowe, he attended Kiel Elementary School. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. CHARLES C. BOWE (d. 1996) Charles Conrad Bowe, 73, of 615 Calumet Ave., Kiel, died Wednesday, April 10, 1996 at St. Luke Hospital in Milwaukee. He was born Jan. 22, 1923 in Chilton, son of the late Frank and Alice William Bowe. He was a 1941 graduate of Chilton High School. He served in the US Army during World War II from Feb. 24, 1943 until Nov. 10, 1945 with the 129 AAA Gun Battalion. He was involved in the invasion of Normandy, Battle of the Bulge and freeing prisoners from the prisoner of war camps at Aushwitz and others. He received six Bronze stars and six combat awards. On Aug 20, 1951 he married Madonna Meyer at Ss. Peter and Paul Rectory, Kiel, by the Rev. Francis Xavier, Kiel. He worked for Tecumseh Products Company in New Holstein for 43 years. He was a member of Jensen-Ban-Thuler Chapter 15 of the Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include his wife; one son, David of Sheboygan; two daughters, Donna (Mike) VanWagoner of Manitowoc and Lori of Cambridge, Mass.; one granddaughter; four sisters, Mell Giranio of Antigo, Verna Lynxweler of Chicago, Betty (Quintin) Barrett of Chicago and Lola Mae (John) Barlow of Valley City, Ohio; and one brother, Leroy (Erna) Bowe of Oconomowoc. MADONNA R. BOWE Madonna R. Bowe, age 69, formerly of 615 Calumet Ave., Kiel and a resident of Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility, died Monday morning, March 24, 1997, at St. Nicholas Hospital. She is the former Madonna Meyer born Dec. 10, 1927 in Kiel, daughter of the late Christian and Marie Wick Meyer. She was a Kiel High School graduate. On Aug. 20, 1951 she married Charles Bowe at Ss. Peter and Paul Rectory, Kiel by the Rev. Francis Xavier, Khiel, officiating. Her husband, Charles preceded her in death on April 10, 1996. She was a lifelong member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and a member of the Christian Women’s Society. She was an active member of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Kiel Historical Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society and a member of the Sheboygan Writers Club. Madonna enjoyed doing volunteer work, writing and crafts. Survivors include one son, David Bowe, Kiel, two daughters, Donna (Mike) Van Wagoner, Manitowoc; Lori Bowe, Arlington, Mass.; one granddaughter; one brother, Robert (Willodene) Meyer, LaBelle, Fla.; two sisters, Mildred (Arthur) Schuh, Appleton and Marian (Melvin) Christel, Plymouth. THOMAS BRANTMEIER Thomas E. Brantmeier, 51, of N9379 Franklin Road, Elkhart Lake, died unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 27, 1998. He was born Oct. 28, 1947 in Appleton, son of Mary and the late Jerome "Butch" Brantmeier. He was a graduate of Hilbert High School and the University of Wisconsin-Stout. On Feb. 19, 1966 he married the former Mary Ellen Dohr in Hilbert. For the past 25 years he was vice president of Aldag-Honold Mechanical, Thomas was a member of the Cedar Creek Sportsmans Club and a former member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Miranda who was the "joy of his life." He also loved spending time at his cottage, boating, fishing, relaxing by the campfire and hunting and golfing. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen; his mother, Mary Brantmeier; his children, Brenda (Rick) Natrop of Greenville with daughter Miranda, Brian T. Brantmeier of Sheboygan, and Sara A. Brantmeier of Elkhart Lake. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Jane (Art) Thiel of Chilton. HEINRICH BRECKHEIMER Mr. Heinrich Breckheimer, an elderly and respected settler in Town Rhine, died the beginning of last week. He was about 72 years old. He had an operation for a rupture a short time ago and although the surgery was a success he was not strong enough to recover. MARGARITA BRECKHEIMER AGED RESIDENT OF ELKHART LAKE DIES SATURDAY AFTERNOON Mrs. Margaret Breckheimer(sic), aged 92, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Hinze, Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Breckheimer was born in Germany on June 8, 1832 and came to America with her parents when a small child. She resided at Germantown, Wis., until the date of her marriage to Mr. Breckheimer and they went to live on the Breckheier homestead, two miles north of Elkhart Lake. They remained on the homestead until Mr. Breckheimer died in 1897. After that, Mrs. Breckheimer went to live at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hinze. She is survived by five children, George and Fred of Elkhart Lake, Henry of Oregon, Mrs. John Deportten of Kiel and Mrs. John Hinze of Elkhart Lake, besides seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. LAVERNE BREITZMAN LaVerne I. Breitzman, 80, formerly of Kiel, died Sunday afternoon, December 15, at Bethel Home, Oshkosh, where she was a resident for the past years. She was born July 16, 1911, at Plymouth, daughter of the late Emil and Clara Freimund Breitzman. She was employed with her parents as a cook and baker at the former Kiel Coffee Shop for many years. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel and the Christian Mothers Society. Survivors include one brother, Gilbert (Edith) Breitzman of Garden Grove, California; one sister, Janet (Hubert) Jaschob of N. Fort Myers, Florida; three nephews, two nieces, and one sister-in-law, Phyliss Breitzman. She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara, step-father, William Reinboldt, one brother, Kenneth Breitzman and two nephews. Funeral service was held at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, with the Rev. AMELIA (HOFFMANN) BRIEGER Former Resident Laid to Rest Here Mrs. Frank Brieger, Sr., nee Miss Amelia Hoffmann passed away at 8:45 p. m. on Wednesday of last week at the St. Nicholas hospital in Sheboygan, after a lingering illness of about fifteen years duration. Mrs. Brieger had been critically ill, for two weeks before her death. The deceased was born in Berlin, Germany in 1867. She was united in marriage to Frank Brieger in the city of Berlin and the couple moved to America in 1892 and settled on a farm near Valley City, North Dakota. After spending several years of their life there they moved near Kiel where they operated a farm. In 1921 they moved to this city where they lived until 1927, when they moved to Sheboygan. She is survived by her husband and five children; Edward and Mrs. Oscar L. Arnold of this city, Frank Jr. of Sheboygan, and William and Marie at home. One grandson, two brothers, and two sisters, the last named four residing in Germany, also survive. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:30 a. m. in this city from the Sts. EDWARD G. BRIEGER Edward G. Brieger, 87, of 828 Sixth St., Kiel, died Tuesday evening at Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton, where he had been a patient for two days. He was born Oct. 24, 1894, in North Dakota, son of Frank and Amelia Hoffmann Brieger. He attended school in North Dakota. Mrs. Brieger married the former Laura Schmahl on Oct. 28, 1919, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. The couple resided at Kiel, where Mr. Brieger was employed at Wooden Ware Co and at A.A. Laun Furniture Co., retiring in 1960. Mrs. Brieger died in 1970. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church and the Holy Name Society. Mr. Brieger was a trustee of the church for many years and belonged to the Kiel Senior Citizens Club. He is survived by a brother, William of Kiel. He was preceded in death by two sisters, and a brother. A funeral Mass will be offered at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church by the Rev. FRANCES BRIEGER Frances Brieger, 94, of Kiel, died Wednesday morning, April 7, 2010 at Sunny Ridge Health & Rehab Center, Sheboygan. She was the former Frances Moritz, born September 12, 1915 in Kiel, daughter of the late Anton and Anna (Mahlich) Moritz. Frances was a 1933 graduate of Kiel High School. On September 12, 1938 she married William A. Brieger at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Her husband, William preceded her in death on March 17, 1988. She had previously worked at the former Klaeser's Food Market, the office of Attorney Ray Kuehlthau, Laun Furniture Company and retired from Sohn Mfg. Frances was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and the Christian Women's Society. She also was a member of the Kiel VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, playing bingo and needlework. FRANK BRIEGER Frank Brieger, 89, a resident of Kiel and the Kiel vicinity for many years, died this morning at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brieger, 828 Sixth St., Kiel. Mr. Brieger was born in Berlin, Germany, Nov. 17, 1867, and came to the United States in 1892. He farmed near Valley City, N.D., for a time, then operated a farm near Kiel until his retirement in 1921. He moved to Kiel after his retirement. Mr. Brieger's wife, the former Amelia Hoffmann, who also was a native of Germany, preceded him death in February, 1929. Survivors are three sons, Edward and William, of Kiel, and Frank Jr., Milwaukee; a daughter, Mrs. Oscar (Rose) Arnold, Kiel; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Frank Hartmann, died in July, 1956. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ss. LAURA BRIEGER Mrs. Edward G. Brieger, 79, of 828 6th St., Kiel, died Friday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. Born Aug. 29, 1890, in the Town of Rhine, she was the daughter of the late George and Eva Holtzmann Schmahl. She attended the Harrison District School. She married Edward Brieger of Kiel on Oct. 28, 1919, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, where they lived after their marriage. The Briegers observed their golden wedding anniversary in October of 1969. Mrs. Brieger was a member of the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish, the General Arts Homemaker Club, and the Kiel Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by her husband and one sister, Mrs. Leonard Platz, R. 1, Elkhart Lake. Two sisters and one brother preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at Kiel with brief family rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Church. The Rev. WILLIAM BRIEGER William A. Brieger, 91, of 802 3rd Street, Kiel, died Thursday, March 17, at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. He was born on April 2, 1896, at Chanute, Kansas, the son of the late Frank and Amelia Brieger. He attended school in Calumet County. On September 12, 1938, he married Frances Moritz at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Mr. Brieger was employed at Kiel Wooden Ware until his retirement. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and its Holy Name Society. Survivors include his wife; Frances; a son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Kristine Brieger of Sheboygan; two grandchildren of Sheboygan. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. ELEANOR BRILL Mrs. Jerome Brill, 74, a former Kiel area resident, died unexpectedly Friday night at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. The former Eleanor Hues was born March 18 1908 in Fond du Lac County, and resided for many years in the Kiel area. She moved to Appleton 20 years ago. Mrs. Brill had been employed by W.A. Close for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Peter (Dolores) Christensen, of Hortonville, and Mrs. James (Carole) Coras, of Appleton; her mother, Mrs. Mary Heus of Seymour; a sister, Mrs. Wilmer (Leona) Runge, of Sherwood; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Brill was preceded in death by her husband in 1957, and her father, Nick Heus in 1956. Funeral services were held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton with the Rev. GEORGE N. BRILL George N. Brill, 66, passed away Wednesday evening at his home, 914 Seventh street, Kiel. The deceased, youngest son of the late William and Catherine Brill, was born in Calumet county on June 5, 1882. He was married to Miss Mary Hubing at St. Mary's church at Lake Church on May 9, 1911. The couple operated farms near New Holstein and in Town Meeme until 1941 when they retired and moved to Kiel. The survivors include his wife, one son, Clarence of New Holstein; three daughters, Mrs. Wilmer (Florence) Graf of Kiel, Mrs. Walter (Martha) Geotsh of Plymouth, Mrs. Arthur (Alice) Gruber of Chilton, one brother, Theodore of Kiel; two sisters, Mrs. Veronica Petesch of Great Falls, Mont. and Mrs. Clara Rach of Kiel. Thirteen grandchildren also remain. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home in Kiel and at 10:30 at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church. The Rev. F.X. JEROME G. BRILL Jerome G. Brill, 49, of 530 Calumet Ave., Kiel, a route man for the Kiel Bottling Works, died early Monday afternoon of a sudden heart attack. Mr. Brill, who had been working regularly, was stricken while making a delivery at St. Anna. He died there before he could be taken to a hospital. A native of New Holstein, he was born Jan. 31, 1908, a son of Mrs. Alma Voelker Brill and the late Otto Brill. He married the former Eleanor Heus of Calumet Harbor, June 6, 1933, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fond du Lac. After marriage the couple lived for 10 years in New Holstein where Mr. Brill was employed by the Depies-Heus Co., a bottle gas distributer. They later lived in Hilbert a short time before moving to Kiel 10 years ago. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Surviving are his wife and two daughters. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Alma Brill, New Holstein; a sister, Mrs. Edmund Vetter, Dotyville; and a brother, Floyd, Calumet Harbor. He was preceded in death by one sister. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Kiel, following brief 9:30 rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home. MARY BRILL Mrs. Mary Brill, 82, of 914 7th St., Kiel, died this morning at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. She was born April 15, 1886 at Belgium, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Depies Hubing, and attended parochial school at Lake Church in Ozaukee County. On May 9, 1911, she and George W. Brill were married at Lake Church. The couple farmed at rural New Holstein and at School Hill, before moving to Kiel in 1941. Her husband died May 26, 1948. Mrs. Brill was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, and its Christian Mothers Society. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Alice) Gruber, Chilton, Mrs. Walter (Martha) Goetsch, Plymouth, and Mrs. Wilmer (Florence) Graff, R. 1, Kiel; a son, Clarence, Honolulu, Hawaii; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. ARCHIE C. BROCKER Archie C. Brocker, 74, of 817 Dewey St., Kiel, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 26, 1994 at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan. He was born March 29, 1920 in the Town of Schleswig, son of the late Arthur and Helen Nottling Brocker. He attended Woodland Park School and was a 1938 graduate of Kiel High School. On September 14, 1949 he married Gladys Penning at St. Rita Catholic Church, Milwaukee. She preceded him in death Dec. 24, 1979. On June 24, 1981 he married Alouise Csida Koeppen at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, Kiel. He was a depot agent for the Milwaukee Road Railroad for approximately 38 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, and Kiel Knights of Columbus where he served as past treasurer and past Grand Knight. He drove a car for the American Red Cross for 12 years, was a member of the Kiel Senior Citizens where he was treasurer for the past 10 years, and the Melody Dance Club. He was also a member of the Downtown Development committee and City Committee on Aging. He enjoyed playing cards, walking and dancing where he made many friends. Survivors include his wife; Alouise; one son, John (Ann), Kiel; one daughter, Eileen (Roger) Knier, Manitowoc; three grandchildren; stepchildren, Allen (Flora) Koeppen, Valders, Joyce (Roman) Lulloff, Kiel, Jenis LaFluer, Manitowoc; 19 step grandchildren; 35 step great grandchildren; five sisters, Mae Brocker, New Holstein; Valeria Mulholland, Butler; Shirley Wise, Derwood, MD; Audrey Mirsberger, Sheboygan; and Helen Kogler, Sheboygan; two sisters-in-law, Rose Bratz, Manitowoc and Sylvia Sohn, New Holstein; and a brother-in-law, Henry Csida, Sheboygan. ARTHUR F. BROCKER Arthur F. Brocker, 73, of 2015 Railroad St., New Holstein, died suddenly at his home Wednesday evening. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. He was born in the Town of Eaton, May 26, 1889, the son of Charles and Elizabeth Brocker, and was married to Helen Nottling of the Town of Rhine at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, on June 24, 1919. They operated a farm in the Town of Schleswig until 1936 when they moved to Kiel were Mr. Brocker was employed at the Kiel Wooden Ware Co. In 1954 they moved to New Holstein. Mr. Brocker was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein. Surviving are his wife; a son, Archie, Kiel, five daughters, Mrs. William (Valeria) Mulholland, Butler, Wis., Miss Mae Brocker, New Holstein, and Mrs. Shirley Wise, Mrs. Donald (Audrey) Mirsberger, and Mrs. Leon (Helen) Kogler, all of Sheboygan; a brother, Fred Brocker, Kiel; two sisters, Mrs. George Bosma, R. 1, Kiel, and Mrs. Herman Sievert, Kiel, and 15 grandchildren. CHARLES G. BROCKER Charles G. Brocker, 28, of Roseburg, Oregon, a former Kiel man, died at Roseburg Friday. Mr. Brocker died of carbon monoxide poisoning, accorded to the medical examiner for Douglas County in Oregon. He said there was no indication of foul play and the examiner’s office is continuing its investigation. Born March 1, 1952, in Sheboygan, Mr. Brocker was a son of Archie Brocker and the late Gladys Penning Brocker. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Kiel and was a 1970 graduate of Kiel High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison before enlisting in the U.S. Air force. He served part of his six-year term in Turkey. Mr. Brocker had been enrolled in college courses in Oregon. Surviving are his father; one brother, John, both in Kiel; and a sister, Eileen Knier of Manitowoc. The funeral Mass is Thursday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, with the Rev. HELEN E. BROCKER Mrs. Helen Brocker, 76, widow of Arthur F., of 2015 Railroad St., New Holstein, died early today in Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where she was a patient for two weeks. The former Helen Nottling was born Nov. 7, 1894 in the Town of Rhine, daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth Schaefer Nottling. She attended district school there and the Ss. MAE H. BROCKER Mae H. Brocker, 77, of New Holstein, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002 at the Calumet Homestead in New Holstein. She was born September 3, 1924 in the town of Schleswig, a daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Nottling) Brocker. She graduated from Kiel High School in 1942. Mae had worked at the Bell Telephone Company in Milwaukee and at Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Survivors include three sisters, Valeria Mulholland of Butler, Audrey (Donald) Mirsberger of Sheboygan and Helen Kogler of Sheboygan, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Archie and two sisters, Shirley Wise and Rita Brocker. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. The Rev. FRED BROECKERT (d. 1916) In the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Klaeser, where he had been living for the past four months, Mr. Fritz Broeckert, who has been a long time and well known resident of the Town of Schleswig, died last week Thursday at 5 o’clock in the morning. at the age of 69 years. The deceased was born on March 4, 1847 in Hassenbuttel, Holstein, Germany. He immigrated to America in 1867 and came directly to the Town of Schleswig where he married Catharine Loos in 1872 and started a farm, which he owned and operated for many years. In the year 1803 (1903) his wife died. Many years ago he sold the farm to his oldest son William and has alternately lived with his children on the farm in St. Nazianz or Kiel. Several months ago, he had chest pain, which was thought to be from broken ribs that did not heal correctly from an injury many years ago, but has since turned into cancer from which he ultimately died. He leaves behind, besides his brother Wm. Broeckert, from here, four children, namely, William on the homestead farm, Edward, master blacksmith in St. Nazianz, Rosa, Mrs. Jacob Klaeser and Anna who is a maid in the home of Dr. Nauth and an adopted son John Habach. The burial took place on Monday morning, after a funeral service in the Catholic Church officiated by Father Kolbe at the Catholic Cemetery. The Catholic Knights sent delegations from the neighboring communities as did the women’s organization of the Catholic Foresters and many mourners from near and far attended the burial. KATE BROECKERT From Der Nord Westen, 29 Oct. 1903: Death Mon. last week in Town Schleswig of Mrs. Friedrich Broechert(sic) after a long illness with breast cancer. The deceased, who reached the age of 56, was the daughter of Math. Loos in Schleswig. She married her now surviving husband 30 yrs. ago. BARBARA BRUCKNER Mrs. Frederick C. Bruckner, 85, a former Kiel resident, died early today at Heritage Nursing Home in Sheboygan, where she had resided for the past six months. The former Barbara Woelfel was born August 28, 1885, in the Town of Charlestown, a daughter of the late George and Marianna Woelfel. She attended St. Martin Catholic School. She was married to Frederick Bruckner on May 7, 1912, at St. Martin Catholic church, Town of Charlestown. The couple moved to Kiel after their marriage. Mrs. Bruckner was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel and its Christian Mothers Society. She was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. The couple had observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1962. Surviving are three sons, Ralph and Frederick Jr., both of Kiel, and Nicholas of Oshkosh; 24 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and a brother, Lawrence of Manitowoc. On May 7, 1912 he married the former Barbara Woelfel of the Town of Charlestown at St. Martin's Catholic Church. The couple located in Kiel where he was employed at the Kiel Furniture and the J.B. Laun Co. He later was street commissioner for the city of Kiel. He retired 18 years ago. The couple observed their 57th wedding anniversary in May this year. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, and the Holy Name Society of the parish. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ralph and Frederick Jr., both of Kiel, and Nicholas of Oshkosh; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Joseph Mahlich of rural New Holstein, and four brothers, George and Gustave, both of Chilton, and Joseph and Louis, both of rural New Holstein. One daughter, one grandson, two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Ss. FREDRICK R. BRUCKNER (d. 2004) Frederick "Fritz" J. Bruckner(sic), age 83, of 315 Chicago St., Kiel, died Sunday morning, Nov. 7, 2004 at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. He was born March 1, 1921 in rural Kiel, son the late Frederick and Barbara Woelfel Bruckner. Fritz attended Ss. Peter and Paul Parochial School and was a 1939 graduate of Kiel High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. On Oct. 30, 1948 he married Marie Fluhr in Kiel. He was a machinist at various businesses in the area until his retirement. Fritz was a lifetime member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. An avid sports fan, he umpired for the Kiel hardball league for many years. He also enjoyed bowling on the Monday night league and golfing. BRUCKNER Marie Lily Ruby "Mipps" Bruckner, 78, of Kiel died unexpectedly Friday August 25, 2006 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center where she had been a patient for the past five days. She was the former Marie Fluhr, born February 13, 1928 in rural Kiel, daughter of the late Edgar and Emma (Mahloch) Fluhr. Marie was a graduate of Kiel High School, Class of 1946. On October 30, 1948 she married Frederick Bruckner in Kiel and he preceeded her in death on November 7, 2004. Marie was a member of St. Peter's UCC in Kiel, were she assisted with the Lamplighter Publication. She also was an active volunteer at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In her free time she enjoyed gardening and doing puzzles. MICHAEL BRUCKNER Michael Bruckner, 14, of 816 Fourth Street, Kiel, died Thursday afternoon at Children’s Hospital, Milwaukee, where he had been a patient for the last three weeks. He was born Aug. 26, 1966, in Sheboygan, a son of Frederick and Marie (Fluhr) Bruckner. He was a freshman at Kiel High School, and was active in football and basketball. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. He is survived by his parents; three sister’s, Mrs. Terry (Nancy) Heus, Mrs. William (Bonnie) Goetsch and Mrs. Kenneth (Jolynn) Moehring, all of Kiel; six brothers, James of Milwaukee, and Charles, Gary, John, Tim and Tom, all of Kiel. RALPH BRUCKNER Ralph J. Bruckner, 73, of 16707 Lax Chapel Road, Kiel, died Saturday morning, July 9, at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc, following a brief illness. He was born on September 12, 1914, in the town of New Holstein, son of the late Frederic and Barbara (Woelfel) Bruckner. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School. In 1933 he graduated from Kiel High School. On October 2, 1940 he was married to Rosella Miller, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, Kiel. Mr. Bruckner was employed at the Kohler Company for 31 years, retiring in 1980. As a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, he served in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theater. He was one of the first crew members of the Kiel Ambulance Service. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, and was a former member of the Kiel Fire Department. Survivors are his wife, Rosella; four daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Kathleen) Weber and Mrs. Terry (Janice) Abraham, both of Plymouth; Mrs. Paul (Julie) Raquet and Mrs. Michael (Lynnette) Raquet, both of Kiel; four sons, Kenneth (Rogene) of Kohler; Gerald (Margie) of Plymouth; Stanley (Mary) of Kiel and Bruce at home; 14 grandchildren; two brothers Nicholas Bruckner of Oshkosh and Fred (Fritz) Bruckner of Kiel. LAWRENCE A. BRUNMEIER Lawrence A. Brunmeier, 74, of 1027 Fourth St., Kiel, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1994, of lung cancer at Calumet Homestead, New Holstein. Lawrence was born March 27, 1920 in town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, son of Henry and Margaret Braun-Brunmeier. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; daughters, Mary Lauren Hansen and Sharon Anhalt; sister, Marian Easton and brother, Norbert Brunmeier; grandsons, Christian and Sven Hansen; relatives and friends. In 1940, Lawrence began 44 years of employment in Kiel at E. F. Geier, Inc., which later became Household Utilities, Inc., now known as HUI. During those years, he held various positions in the electrical department, including vice president of the Electrical Division. In 1942, he served his country in World War II. During his three year tour in the Southwest Pacific, he served in the U.S. 5th Air Force, eight months of which was with the Royal Australian Air Force. Lawrence was married on Nov. 13, 1948 to Mary Jane Fellenz at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein. Always interested in his community, he served as consultor for Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church; was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; president of the Kiel Municipal Band; commander of Kiel WFW Post 6707 and member of its Honor Guard; volunteer at the Manitowoc Capital Civic Centre and member of the Kiel Development Committee. In his retirement, he loved to spend time with his grandsons, worked closely with nature and particularly enjoyed the arts, music, traveling and dancing. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Ss. ARMAND BUNGE Armand C. Bunge, 76, of 211 Paine St., Kiel, died this morning at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, where he had been a patient the past two days. He was born Dec. 7, 1907, in the Town of Schleswig son of Adolph and Minnie Essling Bunge. He was a 1925 graduate of Kiel High School. He married the former Elinor Konz on May 27, 1937, at Kiel. The couple resided at Kiel. Mr. Bunge was employed at Stoelting Bros. inc., Kiel, for 30 years, and retired in 1972. He was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel. Mr. Bunge was a former member of the Kiel Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years and a former city alderman, serving four years on the city council. Survivors are his wife; two sons, David of Kiel and Charles of Sheboygan Falls; three grandsons; and a sister, Mrs. Asta Scheib of Appleton. A brother preceded him in death. The body was cremated. EARL BUNGE Earl Bunge Dies In Milwaukee Monday Death came to Earl Bunge, 43, at a Milwaukee hospital Monday. He suffered a heart attack at work. ELINOR BUNGE Elinor P. Benge, 91, died Wednesday evening, August 25, 2004 at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein. She is the former Elinor P. Konz, born Dec. 26, 1912, in Kiel, daughter of the late Louis & Lena Kleinhans Konz. On May 27, 1936, she married Armand Bunge in Kiel. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1984. The couple located on a farm west of Kiel in the Town of New Holstein which they operated until three years ago when they retired and moved to Kiel. Mr. Bunge was a member of Sts. HENRY BURGHART This morning Henry Burghart, 85, formerly a resident of Kiel, passed away at Park Lawn Home for the Aged. He had been a resident there for the past year. Birth of Mr. Burghart occurred April 29, 1870, in Manitowoc. Until recently, he had resided for many years with the late Mr. and Mrs. Isidore Hoerth, who lived in Kiel.
