OSCAR A. KLEILER Young Man Hangs Himself Last week Thursday we received the gruesome news that Oscar Kleiler, the 27-year-old son of the widow Mrs. John Kleiler who lives a mile and a half west of Kiel, committed suicide by hanging. The young man had only been home a few days since having appendix surgery in Green Bay. Mrs. Kleiler and her other son were not at home on Wednesday night, leaving Oscar home alone. When they returned, he was lying on his bed with his clothes on. Thinking that he was getting ready to retire they did not disturb him. But the next morning when he did not appear and his bed had not been slept in, they went looking for him. They found his lifeless body hanging from a rope in the wagon shed. The motive for his suicide was not known but it was thought that he might be afraid of another surgery, remembering that his father died in the hospital. The burial took place on Saturday morning at the Catholic Cemetery with Father Kolbe officiating. 1915 (translated from German)
