CLEMENS RICHARDS Clemens P. Richards, age 83, of 77 Dewey Stret, Apt D Kiel, and formerly of Shawano died unexpectedly Saturday morning, Jan. 29, 2000 at Calumet Memorial Medical Center in Chilton where he had been a patient for the past week. He was born Sept. 10, 1916 the son of the late John and Anna Daniels Richards. On June 4, 1947 he married Jeanette Warner at St. Clements Catholic Church in Sheboygan. He farmed all his life in Shawano County until his retirement. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jeanette; two daughters, Carol M. Vick of Plymouth and Anne Richards of Plymouth; three grandchildren, Lee Bonnett, Wendy Schultz and Kenny Richards. He is also survived by one brother, Roland P. (Lonny) Richards of Waukesha and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. A memorial funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel with Rev. Loren Nys SDS officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. AUGUST P. RICHART HIT BY CAR, FORMER KIEL MAN KILLED A former Kiel resident was killed Sunday night when he was struck by a car while walking along Highway 22 near the Grand Army Home at King, Waupaca County. He was August P. Richart, 76, a resident at the veterans home for four years. Mr. Richart had been employed as a farm laborer in the Kiel area for many years. Mr. Richart was born Aug. 1, 1891 in Charleston, Neb., a son of the late Joseph F. and Katherine Erthum Richart. The family moved to the Kiel area when he was a young boy. He was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include one brother, Peter of Kiel, and one sister, Mrs. Ella Horsch of Milwaukee. Funeral services will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, the Rev. George Kiefer, pastor, celebrant of the requiem Mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery. No newspaper named – 1968


CATHERINE (nee EHLENBECK) RICHART Mrs. Peter Richart, 61, passed away suddenly on Monday afternoon at her home, 713 Milwaukee street, Kiel. The deceased, nee Kathie Ehlenbeck, was born at St. Anna on Sept. 13, 1886, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Ehlenbeck. She was married to Peter Richart on Oct. 18, 1910. The couple resided in New Holstein before moving to Kiel in 1914. She was a member of Germania Lodge and the Christian Mothers' society of St. Peter and Paul Catholic church. Members of the society will recite the rosary at the church at 7:30 p. m. Wednesday. The survivors include her husband; two sons, Omar and Elmore, of Kiel; one sister, Mrs. Hugo Halle of Neillsville, and two brothers, Emil of town of New Holstein and Henry of Milwaukee. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a. m. Thursday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home and at 10 o'clock at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church by the Rev. F. X. Kheil. ELMORE A. RICHART Elmore Richart, 65, of 713 Milwaukee St., Kiel, died Sunday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past 10 days. He was born March 18 1916, in Kiel, son of Peter and Katherine Ehlenbeck Richart. He attended Kiel High School. “Pete” Richart served with the Army in the European Theater during World War II. On April 25, 1946 he married Ruth Hoehl at St. Anne Catholic Church, St. Anna. He was employed at A.A. Laun Furniture Co. for 37 years, retiring this year. Mr. Richart was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, its Holy Name Society and Badger Tri-County VFW Post No. 6707 of Kiel. Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Gail (Kathryn) Dins of Arvada, Colo., and Mrs. Richard (Carol) Morasch of Omaha, Neb.; s son, Daniel of Kiel; four grandchildren; and a brother, Omar of Kiel. A funeral Mass will be offered at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Rev. Frances Kerscher, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. No newspaper named


EVELYN RICHART Mrs. Evelyn Richart, 74, of 1102 Seventh St., Kiel, died Thursday afternoon at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, after a lengthy illness. She was born June 6, 1913, in Kiel, a daughter of Ernst and Lizzie Bunge Damrow. She graduated from Kiel High School in 1931. On Aug. 16, 1938, she was married to Omar J. Richart at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, its Christian Mothers Society, the Lady Foresters, and the Kiel American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors are her husband, a son, (private); a grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Russell (Marilyn) Bennett of Plymouth. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Bishop Arnold Cotey, associate pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. June 18, 1987


JOSEPH F. RICHART The funeral of J. F. Richart who passed away at the State Hospital near Oshkosh Friday noon, was held at St. Peter and Paul's church on Monday. The deceased was born August 18, 1855 at St. Killian, Fond du Lac county where he grew to manhood. In the year 1881 he was married to Kathryn Erthum, the couple moving to Nebraska. In 1900 his wife died, leaving him with six children. in the spring of 1902 he came to Wisconsin with his family and resided at Kiel for a number of years where he conducted a machine shop. On the 15th of November, 1904, he was married to Margaret Hoffman who also preceded him in death in 1915. In 1911 he disposed of his machine shop and moved north where he resided until last November when his health failed him and he came to the Town of Russell to spend his last days with his eldest son, Anton. Five weeks ago it became necessary to have him removed to the State Hospital where he passed away Friday noon. Mr. Richart was an honest and upright man. He leaves to mourn his death his aged father, four sons, namely, Anton of Russell, Peter of Kiel, John of Kohler, August of St. Anna and one daughter, Ella at Greenleaf, besides five brothers and three sisters. Interment took place in the Catholic Cemetery in Kiel. MARGARET RICHART Obituary -1915 Second Wife of J. F Richart In Oneida, Wisconsin on Thursday of last week, the wife of Mr. J. F. Richart the owner of the localmachine shop, died after a long illness. The deceased, who had reached the age of 63 years, was the second wife of Mr. Richart who had married him eleven years ago. Besides her husband, she leaves behind several stepchildren, three brothers and two sisters. The casket was transported to Kiel and was buried on Monday morning in the Catholic Cemetery. The memorial service took place at St. Peter and Paul Church with Father Kolbe officiating. ******** Last week Thursday in Oneida, Wisconsin, where she had lived for a number of years, the wife of Mr. J. F. Richart the former owner of the Richart Machine Works, died after a lengthy illness. The deceased was 63 years old and the second wife of Mr. Richart whom she married eleven years ago. Her husband, several stepchildren, also three brothers and two sisters survive her. The coffin was brought to Kiel, and on Monday morning, following a funeral service at the St. Peter and Paul Church, she was laid to rest at the Catholic Cemetery with Father Kolbe officiating. OMAR J. RICHART Omar “Pips” Richart, 81, Kiel, died Wednesday afternoon, March 17, 1993 at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton. He was born Nov. 6, 1911 in New Holstein, son of the late Peter and Katherine (Ehlenbeck) Richart. On Aug. 16, 1938 he married Evelyn Damrow at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Evelyn preceded him in death on June 18, 1987. He was a Kiel businessman, including owning Richart’s Tavern, former co-owner of C. J. Meiselwitz Furniture, and a salesman for the former Puetz Motors. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel; a member of the Board of Directors of First Northern Savings Bank, Kiel; American Legion Post 99; Holy Name Society; Kiel Historical Society; and the Kiel Fish and Game Association. Survivors include one son, Thomas H. (Marlene) Grafton; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by one brother, Elmore. A funeral Mass was held at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. PETER RICHART Peter Richart, 82, of 713 Milwaukee St., Kiel, died Friday afternoon at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, after a lengthy illness. RUTH RICHART Ruth E. Richart, 93, of Kiel died Friday morning, May 2, 2008 at Homestead Care Center, New Holstein. She was the former Ruth Hoehl, born April 22, 1915 in St. Anna, daughter of the late John & Susan Driefurst Hoehl. Ruth was a 1933 graduate of Kiel High School. On April 25, 1946 she married Elmore “Pete” Richart at St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Anna. Elmore preceded her in death on September 13, 1981. She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and the Christian Women’s Society. She also was a member of the Kiel VFW Auxiliary, Post 6707. Ruth enjoyed gardening, cooking, volunteering and helping at the many Kiel VFW events throughout the years. Survivors include her three children: Kathryn Dins, Arvada, CO, Carol (Richard) Morasch, Fairfax, VA, Daniel Richart, Kiel, four grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She is further survived by one sister, Nadine Bosma, New Holstein, one sister-in-law, Virginia Hoehl, Kiel, other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by seven sisters, Martha Zorn, Verana Schmitz, Stella Heus, Hildegard Voelker, Henrietta Welker, Eugenia Hoehl, Marie Mahlberg and three brothers, Claude, Edward & Robert Hoehl. Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother expressing her love and dedicating her time to raising her family and also lent a helping hand at many church and VFW events. The funeral mass for Ruth will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel with the Rev. Loren Nys S.D.S. officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. THERESA RICHART Obituary -1903 Theresa Richart At the budding age of 2l years, 9 months and 6 days, Theresa Richart, the daughter of Mr. J. F. Richart, died Thursday afternoon just before 6:00 PM due to a kidney and heart illness of many weeks. The untimely death causes a great loss for the father and the five children, as she ran the household for Mr. Richart. His wife in Nebraska, died before her and he had moved to Kiel two years ago with the children to establish a machine shop. The burial took place on Monday morning with Father Schmitz officiating at the Catholic Cemetery. (No newspaper or date cited) ********** Girl Dies in Giving Birth to Dead Child A sad ending to a sad case occurred, yesterday, when Therese Reichert(sic), of Kiel, died in giving birth to a dead illegitimate child. Reinhold Hildebrandt, the young man accused of being the father of the child, was arrested about six weeks ago in Milwaukee and brought to Manitowoc. The case was settled out of court, however, by the payment of $400 by the young man's parents for the girl and the expected child. The question now arises as to whom this money shall go. ELIZABETH ROCK Mrs. Elizabeth Rock, 84, of 718 Second Street, Kiel died early Friday morning at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. A requiem Mass was offered at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Rev. George Kiefer was celebrant. Burial was in the parish cemetery. The former Elizabeth Schaller was born May 8, 1884, at St. Wendel, daughter of the late Karl and Catherine Derler Schaller. She attended St. Wendel Catholic School and on November 23, 1903 was married to William F. Rock of the town of Meeme at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill. The couple operated a farm in Meeme east of School Hill for eight years, then moved to Plymouth, and in 1925 moved to Kiel. Her husband died in 1944. Mrs. Rock was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Christian Mother’s Society, and the Third Order of St. Francis of the parish. Survivors include one son, Norbert of Kiel; four daughters, Mrs. Leo J. Klaeser, Mrs. Harry Klaeser, and Mrs. Leo J. Walsdorf all of Kiel and Mrs. Robert Michels of Manitowoc; 21 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. GLADYS D. ROCK Gladys D. Rock, 90 of Kiel died Saturday morning February 17, 2007 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina Minnesota. She is the former Gladys Roehr, born December 2, 1916, daughter of the late Herman and Ella Gruhle Roehr. She was raised in Kiel and graduated from Kiel High School. On September 13, 1938 she married Norbert Rock at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and he preceded her in death on September 13, 2005. Gladys and her husband owned and operated many family businesses including a carnival ride and concession summer business known as "Rock's Rides", an advertising specialties company and a trophy company. She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Gladys enjoyed many friendships started through the Kiel Homemakers and was active in supporting the Kiel Girl Scouts, for which she was presented the Outstanding Volunteer Award for her many years of service. In retirement Gladys and her husband spent 10 years living out the colder months in Naples FL, and enjoyed traveling, especially the trip to Germany with the Kiel Municipal Band. Gladys is remembered for her love of the arts of music, dance, and literature, and her own special art, her marvelous cooking and baking skills. Special thanks to Eileen Walsdorf for bringing books to Gladys for decades of reading enjoyment. Gladys was also an avid sports fan. Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Kelly) Strebig of St. Paul MN, granddaughter Sara (Rick) Pedersen, great grandsons Nicholas and Nolen, grandson Paul (Sarah) Strebig, great granddaughters Ella and Gretta; daughter Sara (Bill) Lykken of Eden Prairie MN, grandchildren Jamie and Troy; and a son, Tom (Joyce) Rock of Eden Prairie, granddaughter Christel. Also survived by a sister Betty (James) Weber of New Holstein; special neighbors, Matt and Sandy Wusterbarth and family, a sister in law Loraine Michels of Manitowoc; nephews and nieces, other relatives and many friends. NORBERT P. ROCK Norbert P. Rock, 90, of 135 Chicago St., Kiel, died Tuesday morning, September 13, 2005 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. He was born January 7, 1915 on a farm near School Hill, son of the late William F. & Elizabeth Schaller Rock. He attended SS Peter & Paul Grade School and was a graduated of Kiel High School. On September 13, 1938 he married Gladys Roehr at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Norbert was employed at Stoelting Bros., Kiel from 1933 to 1945 and H.G. Weber Co., Kiel until 1960. Norbert and his wife Gladys started their own businesses, including a carnival ride and concession summer business known as "Rock's Rides," an advertising specialties company, and a trophy company. His customers appreciated his being willing to serve them any day, any time and his desire to provide the finest in quality possible. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel where he was a former member of the Holy Name Society and the Holy Order/Catholic Knights. He also was a former member of the Kiel Chamber of Commerce, serving as secretary. Norbert was a gifted craftsman and electrician and extended his talents toward many people. He enjoyed playing sheepshead and watching the Packers and working on his computers. Norbert will be remembered by his wife of 67 years as a loving, respectful and sharing spouse, by his children for his love of learning and example of organization and by his friends as always willing to use his talents to help in any way. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Gladys, of Kiel; his children, daughter, Susan (Kelly) Strebig, of St. Paul, Minn.; granddaughter, Sara; great grandsons, Nicholas and Nolen; grandson, Paul; great granddaughters, Ella and Gretta; daughter, Sara (William) Lykken of Eden Prairie, Minn.; grandchildren Jamie and Troy; son Tom (Joyce) Rock, Eden Prairie, Minn.; and granddaughter, Christel. WILLIAM F. ROCK W.F. Rock Real Estate Dealer Dies Funeral services for William F. Rock, who passed away suddenly last Wednesday at the home of E.L. Hirsch at Milwaukee were held Saturday morning at 9:00 o'clock from the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and at 10:00 o'clock from the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church. A solemn high mass was read by the Rev. F.X. Kheil, with the Rev. A.J. July as deacon, and the Rev. C.P. Kern as sub-deacon. William F. Rock was born July 12, 1870 in the town of Meeme. November 23, 1903 he was married to Elizabeth Schaller. The couple resided on a farm in the town of Meeme for 11 years, where he served as town supervisor for four years. In 1915 the family moved to School Hill, where Mr. Rock operated a garage for seven years, and in 1921 they moved to Plymouth. There they operated a grocery store. In 1924, the family moved to this city where they have since made their home. Here he carried on the business of real estate broker. Mr. Rock is survived by his wife; one son, Norbert; five daughters, Mrs. Marie Trimberger of Plymouth, Mrs. Harry (Betty) Klaeser of this city, Mrs. Herbert (Cathryn) Langemak of Plymouth, and Mrs. Leo (Viola) Walsdorf and Mrs. Robert (Loraine) Michels of this city; two brothers John Rock of Sheboygan, and Peter Rock of Manitowoc, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Dieringer of Sheboygan. ADELE RODERWEISS Mrs. Fred Roderweiss, 82, of R. 1, Kiel, died Sunday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where she had been a patient one day. The former Adele Steinbach, she was born May 29, 1886, in Germany, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Steinbach, and was married in Germany Oct. 31, 1908, to Fred Roderweiss. They came to the U.S. in September, 1929, settling in Evanston, Ill. Since February, 1942, she and her husband lived in the Town of Schleswig. He died in February, 1958. Mrs. Roderweiss was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Victor (Hilda) Guhl, and Miss Elsie Roderwiess, both of R. 1, Kiel; a son, Hans, Lombard, Ill.; three grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. FRED RODEWEISS Fred Roderweiss, 73, of Route 1, Kiel, a Town of Schleswig farmer, died early Tuesday evening at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan where he had been a patient for the past three weeks. Born Nov. 2, 1884, in Germany, he was a son of the late Theodore and Louise Vosswinkel Roderweiss. He was married in Germany on Oct. 31, 1908, to Miss Adele Steinbach. The family came to the United States in November, 1928, and settled in Evanston, Ill. The family moved to the Town of Schleswig in 1942. Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Victor (Hilda) Guhl and Miss Elsie Roderweiss, both of Town Schleswig; a son, Hans, of Chicago; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Ernest and Louis, both in Germany. A daughter, a brother and a sister also preceded him in death. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel. The Rev. F.X. JOHN ROITT John Roitt, 71, a retired Town of Schleswig (Manitowoc County) farmer, died Wednesday afternoon in Manitowoc Memorial Hospital. A son of the late Joseph and Mary Roitt, he was born in Schleswig, Aug. 13, 1895, and married Cecilia Ebert of Watertown, Nov. 21, 1944, in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Following their marriage the couple operated the Roitt home farm about two miles northeast of Kiel. Mr. Roitt was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish and its Holy Name Society. Surviving are his wife; a sister, Mrs. Helen Schneider, Manitowoc, and a brother, George, Sheboygan. The requiem Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Kiel, with the Rev. PRISCILLA "CELIA" ROITT Mrs. John Roitt, 72, a former Town of Schleswig resident, died Wednesday at the Heritage Nursing Home in Manitowoc. She had resided there the past year. The former Celia Ebert, she was born March 27, 1895, at Watertown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Margarette Holzman Ebert. On Nov. 18, 1944, she married John Roitt, of Schleswig, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig until a year ago. Mr. Roitt died in February, 1967. Mrs. Roitt was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the church's Christian Mothers Society. A sister, Mrs. Lillie Hallmeyer of Columbus, Wis., is the only survivor. ALEX ROLLMANN Alex Rollmann, 74, of 1024 Fremont St., Kiel, died shortly after admittance at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital on Tuesday evening, after being stricken by a heart attack at his home. He was born Jan. 21, 1910, in Calumet County, a son of the late Nicholas and Mary Wettstein Rollmann. He attended school in Chilton and New Holstein. On Nov. 20, 1937, he and the former Alice Dorn were married at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. They resided in Kiel, where Mr. Rollmann worked at the Kiel Woodenware Co. until retiring in 1976. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish, Kiel. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, (private); three sons, (private); 12 grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, John of Fond du Lac and Joseph, Manitowoc; and three sisters, Mrs. Theresa Evenson of Valders, Mrs. Olive Dorn of New Holstein and Mrs. Apalone Dorn of St. Anna. ANGELA ROLLMANN Angeline Hr. Rollmann, 90, a former Kiel Resident, died Wednesday night, October 5, at Chilton Village, where he had been a resident for the past five years. The former Angeline Herr was born on April 1, 1898 in the Town of Meeme, a daughter of the late Frank and Katherine (Seipel) Herr. She attended St. Fidelis School in the Town of Meeme. On October 17, 1922, she married Peter Rollmann at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in the Town of Meeme. He died on September 12, 1965. She was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, St. Nazianz; the GUG Germania Society, Kiel; and an honorary member of Ss. Peter and Paul Christian Mother’s Society. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Schmitz of Chilton; Mrs. Alois (Julianne) Endries of St. Nazianz; Mrs. Robert (Germaine) Biskobing of West Bend and Mrs. George (Mildred) Hoesler of St. Anna; 18 grandchildren; ?? great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Clara) Schmidt of Milwaukee; Mrs. Armella Sullivan of Osman; Mrs. Carl Wagner of Cleveland and Mrs. ?? MARY ROLLMANN Mrs. Nicholas Rollmann, aged 62, passed away at her farm home one mile north of Rockville, on Tuesday morning. The deceased nee Miss Mary Wettstein, was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Wettstein, Stockbridge, where she was born January 24, 1895. She was married to Nicholas Rollmann of Jericho and located in the town of Chilton. In 1911 they moved to the town of New Holstein, where they resided for two years. Two years ago the Rollmann family moved to their present farm home. Nine children were born to them of whom all are living. Surviving Mrs. Rollmann are her husband, five daughters and four sons, namely: Mrs. Frank (Mary) Leitner of Fond du Lac, Mrs. Chas. (Lena) Daun of Brothertown, Mrs. Arthur (Theresa) Evenson of Sheboygan, the Misses Olive and Appolonia at home Joseph and Alex at home, Peter of this city, and John of Fond du Lac. She is also survived by three brothers and thirteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 9:15 o'clock from the family residence, and at 10 o'clock with services at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church here. The Rev. Father J. J. NICHOLAS ROLLMANN Nicholas J. Rollmann, 86, retired Calumet County farmer died shortly before noon Thursday at the home of his son, Alex, 1924 Fremont St., Kiel. A son of the late Peter and Elizabeth Franzen Rollmann, he was born in the town of Brothertown, Calumet County, Feb. 23, 1870. He attended St. Charles Catholic School at Charlesburg. His marriage tot he former Mary Wettstein of Kloten, Calumet County, took place Jan. 24, 1895, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Kloten. Following marriage the couple farmed near Chilton and later near New Holstein. Since his retirement in 1932 Mr. Rollmann had lived in and near Kiel. His wife died in 1935. Surviving in addition to the son, Alex, are three other sons, Peter, Kiel, Joseph, Manitowoc, and John, Fond du Lac; five daughters, Mrs. Frank Leitner (Mary), Fond du Lac, Mrs. Charles Daun (Magdalena), Charlesburg, Mrs. Arthur Evenson (Theresa), Valders, Mrs. Frank Dorn (Olive) and Mrs. Joseph Dorn (Appelonia), both of R. 2, New Holstein, 38 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Math Halfmann, R. 2, New Holstein, and two brothers, Henry, Chilton, and Frank, Colorado. He was also preceded in death by four sisters. The couple moved to Kiel in 1923 and lived there for 41 years where he was employed at the Kiel Wooden Ware Co. until his retirement in 1964. He was a member of Ss. MARY ROSENBAUER Miss Mary F. Rosenbauer, 73, a former Kiel resident, died May 9, at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. She had resided at the Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, for one year. Born October 16, 1908, in the Town of Schleswig, she was the daughter of Fred and Mary Stueven Rosenbauer. She attended district school. She was employed at the Hansen Glove Company for many years. Miss Rosenbauer was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein, and the New Holstein Senior Citizens Club. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Anita Jochmann of New Holstein and Mrs. Hulda Quante of Withee; two brothers, Fred of New Holstein and Werner of Osman and nieces and nephews. KATHERINE RUH MRS. CATHERINA RUH(sic) LAID TO REST MONDAY Ms. Catherina Ruh, aged 90, a resident of this city and vicinity for the past 20 years, passed away Friday afternoon following a lingering illness. She had been blind for a number of years. The deceased was born in Germany Dec. 3, 1857, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hreude, and came to the United States with her parents when she was three years old. The family first settled in Milwaukee. She was married there to Christian Ruh in 1906, but he preceded her in death in 1934. Mrs. Norma Baumann of Portland, Ore., a daughter, is her only survivor. Funeral services were held at Meiselwitz Funeral Home with the Rev. F. N. Kheil officiating. Burial was made in the Church cemetery. No newspaper named – October 7, 1948


EUGENE A. SALM Eugene A. Salm, 70, former Town of Centerville resident went home to his Lord on Saturday January 14, 2006, at Chilton Medical Center in Chilton, WI. Gene was born December 19, 1935 in St. Nazianz, Manitowoc County. He was the son of the late Nicholaus Leonard Salm and Hildegard Schuler Salm. Gene graduated from St. Wendel grade school in Cleveland. In 1954 he graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan, WI. He went on to serve his country and received an Honorable discharge from the Army Reserve. Since 1960, Gene was self-employed as Owner/President of the Salm Family Farm, Inc. He retired from Dairy farming in 2000. On November 28, 1959, Gene was united in marriage to Carol Ann Clark at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Sheboygan. They built a new home on their farm and continued to live there after their retirement from farming. In 2003, Eugene and Carol moved to Kiel, WI, to reside in a new home, which he built. Eugene was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Kiel; he was also a former member of St. Wendel Catholic Church in Cleveland, where he served on various committees. He served on the Town of Centerville Zoning committee and he was a 4-H leader for many years. Gene enjoyed their two card clubs. He liked Ballroom, Square and Round dancing. His favorite times were spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Gene was very active and enjoyed traveling, playing sports, walking, biking, and sledding. He loved spending time visiting his friends.He was a very loving and wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Eugene is survived by his wife, Carol and his children, William (Betsy) Salm of rural Manitowoc, Sandra (John) Buchholz, Jane (Scott) Halverson, both of Kiel, Allen (Christina) Salm, of Edgerton, WI, and Kenneth (Vicki) Salm of Cleveland and grandchildren. Brothers are; Francis (Nancy) Salm of Cleveland, Joseph (Mary) Salm, and Andres (MaryAnn) Salm of Newton, WI. Sisters include; Gertrude Florian, Mabel Henckel, Agnes Wagner and Ruth Gill of Sheboygan, Mary Lou (Richard) Sixel of rural Sheboygan, Carol (Elroy) Jaeger of Cleveland, WI, and Marie Langdon of Milwaukee. Preceding him in death are his parents, his oldest child, Barbara Jean who died at age 4 in September 1964, four brothers, Robert, Donald, Arthur and Roman, one grandchild, William Allen Salm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, Rev. Father Loren Nys and Rev. Father Michael Burns will be co-celebrants. Burial will be in the Ss. ADAM SANDEL (d. 1903) Kiel—Adam Sandel a long time resident of Town Schleswig died last Monday morning at the age of 62 years after a lengthy illness of throat cancer. ADAM SANDEL (d. 1949) Adam Sandel, 78, former town of Schleswig farmer and Kiel resident, died Friday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin G. Henschel in the town of Rhine. Born at Oppenheim, Germany, Feb. 13, 1871, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Sandel, Sr., Mr. Sandel came to this country with his parents at the age of 12, settling in the town of Russell. Later the family moved to the town of Schleswig. Mr. Sandel was married to Miss Minnie Baumann, of Plymouth, and the couple operated the Schleswig farm until Mr. Sandel's retirment, when they moved to Kiel. Mrs. Sandel died Sept. 17, 1942, and for the past two years Mr. Sandel has lived at the Henschel home. Survivors are one brother, Henry, of Cudahy, and nieces and nephews. Four sisters and one brother preceded Mr. Sandel in death. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home in Kiel and at 10 a.m. at Ss. CHARLOTTE SANDEL Mrs. Adam Sandel died at the home of her son, Adam, Saturday morning, having reached the age of eighty-five years. The deceased was born in Germany, July 4, 1844 and came to this country forty-four years later and settled in Wisconsin. In 1868 she was married to Adam Sandel who preceded her in death. For the past several years she has been making her home with her son, Adam, who resides east of Kiel. Five children are left to mourn her death, two having died some years ago. Those surviving are; Mrs. Louis Henschel of Sturgeon Bay, Mrs. Louis Harbrecht of Cudahy, Mrs. John Williams of the town of New Holstein; Adam, who is living on the homestead, and Henry of Cudahy. Eight grandchildren and ten great grand- children also survive. The funeral was held Tuesday from the home and from Ss. Peter and Paul Church. Burial was in the church cemetery with Rev. Fr. A. MINNIE SANDEL Mrs. Sandel Dies at Hospital Here; Rites Saturday. Kiel. - Mrs. Adam Sandel, 67, passed away at the St. Nicholas hospital, Sheboygan, early this morning. The former Minnie Baumann, she was born March 3, 1875, in the town of Plymouth, the daughter of Anton Baumann and Margaret Kaufmann. On Nov. 10, 1896, she was married to Adam Sandel, at that time living in the town of Schleswig. The couple settled on a farm there where they remained until 1934, at which time they moved to Kiel. Surviving are three brothers, Alfred and Anthony Baumann of Plymouth, and Albert Baumann of Elkhart Lake; five sisters, Mrs. Emma Matzdorf and Mrs. Fred Michels of Sheboygan, Mrs. Margaret Gerber and Mrs. Augusta Thorpe of Plymouth, and Miss Paulina Baumann of Sturgeon Bay. JOHN A. SCHAD John A. Schad, 84, formerly of Kiel, died Friday morning, Feb. 11, 2000 at Calumet Homestead and Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein, where he resided the past 10 years. He was born June 6, 1915 in School Hill, Wis. He attended grade school in School Hill. Until his retirement, John was employed at Stoeltings Inc. in Kiel, for many years. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. John enjoyed spending time fishing. Survivors include his brothers, and sisters, Marie Fessler, Kiel, Rose Hauch, New Holstein, Theodore (Frances) Schad, Sheboygan, Clarence Schad, St. Nazianz, Max (Catherine) Schad, Sheboygan, Leonard Schad, Manitowoc and Theresa (Melvin) Escher, Mission, Texas. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three infant brothers, one infant sister and his brother, Edmond. LEONARD J. SCHAD Leonard J. Schad, 80, a resident of Willowdale Nursing Home, died Saturday afternoon, Oct. 22, 2005 at Calumet Medical Center. He was born Nov. 6, 1924 in School Hill, son of the late Peter and Margaret Knier Schad. Leonard attended School Hill Grade School. For many years until his retirement he was employed by Tecumseh Products in New Holstein. In his free time he enjoyed fishing. Survivors include two brothers: Max (Catherine) Schad of Sheboygan, Clarence Schad of St. Nazianz; three sisters: Marie Fessler of rural Kiel, Rose Hauch of St. Nazianz, Theresa Escher, Mission, Texas. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Edmund, John and Theodore; four infant siblings: Helen, Joseph, Peter, Bernard; brothers-in-law: Melvin Escher, Carl Fessler and William Hauch; sisters-in-law: Adeline Schad and Frances Schad. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, with the Rev. Michael Burns officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. MARGRETHA SCHAD On Thursday at 2 o’clock in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter Menne from here, Mrs. Margaretha Schad(sic) died. She died of natural causes at the high age of 86 years, 2 months and 23 days. The deceased was born in Bavaria, Germany on November 30, 1823. She came to America about 50 years ago, and then to School Hill in this county (Manitowoc) where her husband was a blacksmith for many years. He died in 1878 and in 1880 Mrs. Schad moved in with her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Peter Menne in Town Rhine until they all moved to Kiel. At her high age, she had always enjoyed robust health until a few weeks ago she became bedridden from which she did not recover. She is survived by only one daughter, Mrs. Peter Menne and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Michael Barth died in Nebraska. The burial took place on Monday morning at the Catholic Cemetery with Father Kolbe officiating. No newspaper cited, 1913


CARL SCHAFER (From the correspondent in Kiel, 02 June) Suicide by hanging last Sat. of Carl Schaefer(sic) in a grove of trees owned by his brother Heinrich. A bachelor of almost 70, he resided in Muelheim, Town Schleswig, and suffered severely from asthma. Der Nord Westen, 05 June 1890 ********* Kiel – Carl Schaefer, a man 70 years of age, hanged himself last Saturday about one-half mile west of Millhome town of Schleswig. The deceased was not married and for the last few years lived with his only brother, Henrich. He was somewhat deranged and left his home last Thursday noon and came to Kiel, where he purchased a rope at J. M. Duecker & Co.'s store and after that was not seen until Saturday afternoon, when he was found in the woods, near his brother's home hanging from a tree. He was an old soldier, a member of the 26th Wis Regiment. The funeral took place yesterday. ALFRED SCHALLER Kiel Tavernkeeper Dies Sunday Morning A Kiel tavernkeeper, Alfred A. Schaller, 65, died suddenly Sunday morning at his home, 523 Fremont St., in Kiel. He operated a tavern and barbershop at St. Anna until 1942, when he moved to Kiel, where he was in the tavern business until the time of his death. For seven years prior to last year, he also was employed at the North Gate barbershop in Sheboygan. He was born near Cleveland on Nov. 26, 1899, the son of the late Frank Schaller and Anna Van De Loo Schaller. The family later moved to rural Kiel and he attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School. He also is a graduate of Wisconsin Barber College. His marriage to the former Eleanor Jugenheimer took place on Nov. 3, 1927. He was a member of Ss. peter and Paul Catholic Church, of Redman Lodge and of 24-Hour Club of the lodge. Survivors include his wife; two daughters (names omitted for privacy), seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Herman Maurer of Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. John Kistner, Sheboygan, and Mrs. Sylvester Grott, Plymouth. The requiem mass will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, preceded by brief rites at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, at 9:30. The Rev. ANNA SCHALLER MRS. FRANK SCHALLER STRICKEN BY DEATH The relatives and many friends oF Mrs. Frank Schaller were shocked on Sunday, when they were informed of her sudden death, which occurred at 9:30 on Sunday morning. Mrs. Schaller, who was apparently in good health, had gone to the home of her sister, Mrs. Anton Beumler, who was ill with pneumonia, on Saturday evening, to stay with her over night. On Sunday morning at 9:30, while she was about the house, she was suddenly stricken with heart failure, fell over and expired. Mrs. Schahler, nee Annie Van de Loo, was born in the town of Lima, Sheboygan county, May 12, 1875. She was married to Mr. Schaller in 1895, and came to her last place of residence east of Kiel in 1917. Their union was blessed with ten childien, of whom three have preceded their mother in death. Besides her grief-stricken husband she leaves four daughters, Mrs. Lena Schneider in the town of New Holstein, Lizzie, Hilda, Agnes, and Lucile at home, and two sons, Mathias and Alfred. Also six brothers and three sisters; and three grandchildren. The funeral was held on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, with services in the St. Peter and Paul's church, Rev. 0. Kolbe officiating. ELEONORA SCHALLER Eleonora "Ma" Schaller, 94, formerly of 532 Fremont St. in Kiel, died peacefully Thursday morning, Sept. 13, 2001 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She is the former Eleonora Jugenheimer born Jan. 28, 1907 in the town of Rhine, daughter of the late Henry and Lena Reichert Jugenheimer. She attended Kiel grade school and was a 1925 graduate of Kiel High School. On Nov. 3, 1927 she married Alfred "Fritz" Schaller at the parsonage at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. Alfred and "Eleanor" made their home in St. Anna where they operated a tavern until moving to Kiel in 1942. Alfred preceded her in death on July 4, 1965. Eleanor operated Schaller's Tavern in Kiel until June this year. Survivors include two daughters; seven grandchildren; 10 great grand- children; one great-great-grandchild; one sister-in-law; many nieces, nephews and her special friends including her special buddy, the family dog, Maxine. "Eleanor" was preceded in death by one daughter; two great-grandchildren and five brothers, Lester, Milroy, Allan, Aaron "Itzy" and Donald Jugenheimer. "Eleanor" was loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all. Never say Good-bye, say Wiederschen. Peter and Paul church here, the Rev. A. Roder performing the ceremony. Miss Cecilia Schaller was bridesmaid, and Aaron Jugenheimer was best man. At the close of the ceremony, the party returned to the bride's home, where a wedding dinner was served. The bride graduated from the Kiel high school with the class of 1925, and was employed as clerk at the Kiel Mercantile store for several years. FRANK SCHALLER Frank Schaller Dies After Illness of Years' Duration After being in ailing health for the past ten years, Frank Schaller, aged 70, passed away Tuesday morning at this home on Fremont street. The deceased was born the son of Carl and Katherine Schaller on June 9, 1872, in Cleveland on the Schaller homestead. On January 9, 1893 he was united in holy wedlock with Miss Anna VandeLoo, and they lived on the Schaller homestead in Cleveland until 1907. At that time they moved onto a farm east of this city, where they lived until the death of Mrs. Schaller March 18, 1923. Ten children were born of this marriage, three dying in infancy. On May 18, 1926 Mr. Schaller married Mrs. Hubert Mies of here. Surviving are this wife; seven children, namely: Mrs. Joseph (Helena) Schneider of near Kiel; Mrs. Nicholas (Elizabeth) Ramminger of St. Anna, Mrs. Herman (Hildegardc) Maurer of Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. Sylvester (Agnes) Grott and Mrs. John (Cecilia) Kistner, both of Sheboygan, Mathias Schaller of Too Doo, Minnesota, and Alfred Schaller of St. Anna; 2 step-children, Claude Mies and Mrs. Raymond Voelker of here; 22 grand-children; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. William F. Rock of this city, Mrs. John Bertsche of Sheboygan, and Mrs. Mary Hoffmann of Holy Hill, and one brother, Jacob Schaller of Sheboygan. Funeral services were held this Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at the C. J. Meiselwitz Funeral Home and at 9:30 o'clock from the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, with the Rev. Father F. X. JACOB SCHALLER Jacob Schaller, 79, of 2539 N. 7th St., died suddenly at his home Saturday evening. He was born on July 27, 1886, at St. Wendel, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Karl Schaller. Following his marriage in 1931 to the former Johanna Sanders at St. Peter and Paul Church, Kiel, the couple made their home in Sheboygan. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, its Holy Name Society, and a 25 year honorary member of Knights of Columbus Our Lady of the Rosary Council 722. Survivors are his wife; two sons, Peter of Plymouth, and Lambert of Sheboygan; one daughter, Mrs. Anthony (Loretta) Hirt of Sheboygan; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. William Rick, of Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at Holy Name Church. The Rev. Anthony HIrt of St. Edward’s Church, Racine, a grandson, will be celebrant of the solemn requiem high Mass. Burial will be in Ss. JOHANNA SCHALLER Mrs. Johanna Schaller, 94, of 2539 N. 7th St., died Wednesday afternoon at St. Nicholas Hospital where she had been a patient for the past three weeks. A native of Sheboygan County, the former Johanna Sanders was born Aug. 16, 1883, in the Town of Lima, a daughter of Peter and Johanna Sanders. She attended district grade school. After her marriage to Joseph Schaller on June 14, 1904, at St. Wendell, the couple lived on a dairy farm in the Town of Lima. Later they moved to Kiel, where Mr. Schaller was proprietor of the Schaller Meat Market. He died Oct. 6, 1927. On Oct. 29, 1931, she married Jacob Schaller of Fond du Lac. The couple came to Sheboygan where Mr. Schaller was self employed as a salesman. He died Dec. 11, 1965, Mrs. Schaller was a member of Holy Name Catholic Churchs and an honorary member of the St. Ann Christian Mother society of the parish. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Anthony (Loretta) Hirt of Sheboygan, a son Lambert F. Schaller, both of Sheboygan, 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and five sisters. The funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church, following brief family rites at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. JOSEPH SCHALLER Hold Last Rites for Jos. Schaller After lying in the Plymouth hospital for three weeks in a critical condition following an operation on ulcers of the stomach, Joseph Schaller, 46, died Thursday morning shortly after midnight. With him when the end came was the immediate family, his brother Frank, and a sister, Mrs. William Rock. Funeral services were held at the Sts. Peter and Paul church Monday at 9:30, the Rev. A. Roder performing the last rites. Interment was in the Sts. Peter and Paul cemetery. Besides the close relatives, a host of friends of the deceased from Chilton, Cleveland, Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls, Plymouth, Fond du Lac, Meeme, Milwaukee, Watertown, and St. Nazianz were present at the funeral. The deceased was born March 29, 1881, in the town of Centerville. About 15 years ago he moved to Kiel, where he entered business for himself. Before taking over the saloon and butcher shop which he has conducted in recent years, he was proprietor of the old Mike Wagner and Math. Nett places. He was married in June, 1904, to Miss Johanna Sanders. Two sons, Peter, aged 20, and Lambert, aged 15, and one daughter, Loretta, aged 17, survive. Several children born to them died in infancy. His wife also survives him. Four brothers mourn him: Carl, at St. Nazianz, Frank in Kiel, Peter at Sheboygan Falls, and Jacob at Fond du Lac. Three sisters are also living. They are Mrs. Nic. Hoffmann, at Holy Hill, Mrs. John Bertsche, of Town Meeme, and Mrs. William Rock, Kiel. Oct. 1927


JUDITH R. SCHALLER Judith R. Schaller, age 58, of 1122 Fifth St., Kiel, died Tuesday evening, April 7, 1998, at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center after a 30 year battle with Lupus. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. The former Judy Strauss was born April 12, 1939, in Clarks Mills, daughter of the late Frank and Johanna Strauss. Judy was a graduate of Valders High School. On May 9, 1959, she married Ronald Schaller in Clarks Mills. Judy was self- employed as a dog trainer and breeder, raising many champion Yorkies over the years. She was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and the Sheboygan Kennel Club. Survivors include her husband, Ronald, and their four children, Kim (Tim) Fifrick, Kiel, Karla (Julian) Perez, Las Vegas, Mark (Karen) Schaller, Green Bay, and Michael (Anne) Schaller, Minneapolis; seven grandchildren, Randy, Rick and Matty Fifrick, Anthony and Aundrea Perez, Ryan and Mitchell Schaller, and Maxwell Schaller. She is further survived by four brothers, Robert (Lucille) Strauss, Francis (Lorraine) Strauss, Rusty (Shirley) Strauss, and Ralph (Muriel) Strauss; three sisters, Viola Hebert, Shirley (Doug) Emond, and Rosalie (Jerry) Dragovich; five sisters-in-law, Theresa Strauss, Rosie Strauss, Gerry Strauss, Janice (John) Salchert, and Pat Schaller. MARY MIES SCHALLER Mrs. Mary Mies Schaller, 71, of Fremont St., Kiel, died early today at St. Nicholas Hospital. Born Mary Nett, in Marytown, Aug. 7, 1881, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Gertrude Nett. She attended Catholic school at Marytown and on June 4, 1902 was married Hubert Mies of St. Joseph. The couple located on a farm one mile west of Kiel, later moving into the city to make their home. Mr. Mies died on Sept. 8, 1917, and in 1926 she was married to Frank Schaller of Kiel. He died in 1942. Mrs. Schaller was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of the SS. Peter and paul Catholic Church, members of which will recite the rosary at the church at 7 p.m. Thursday. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Voelker, and a son, Claude Mies, both of Kiel; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers, Arnold and Matt Nett of Kiel and Frank Nett of Milwaukee, and a sister Mrs. Joseph Klinkner of Plymouth. RONALD R. SCHALLER Ronald R. Schaller, 65, of 1122 5th St., Kiel, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998 at his home. He was born October 18, 1933 in Sheboygan, son of the late Peter and Elsie Hertel Schaller. He was a 1953 graduate of Kiel High School. From 1955 to 1958 he served his country in the US Army/Quarter-Master Corp. stationed in Germany. On May 9, 1959 he married the former Judith Strauss in Clarks Mills. His wife preceded him in death on April 7, 1998. From 1958 until his retirement in 1996 he worked at Lake to Lake in Kiel as a bulk cheese salesman. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church in Kiel. He enjoyed playing cards and gambling. Survivors include his four children, Kim (Tim) Fifrick of Kiel, Karla (Jilian) Perez of Las Vegas, Mark (Karen) Schaller of Green Bay, and Michael (Anne) Schaller of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Schaller and Janice (John) Salchert. MARIE SCHARENBROCK Influenza - pneumonia claimed another victim in our neighborhood last week in the person of Mrs. Henry Scharenbrock, who died of the disease at her home near Rockville last Thursday afternoon. The deceased, who was a daughter of Chr. Mertz of St. Nazianz, reached the age of 34 years and 3 days. She leaves her husband and an adopted son, who also was very ill. MICHAEL SCHARENBROCK Michael H. Scharenbroch, age 48, of 432 Limestone St., Kiel, died peacefully Saturday morning, Nov. 20, 2004 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born Sept. 19, 1956 in Manitowoc, son of Larry and Lavern Zill Scharenbroch. Michael attended Meeme Elementary Grade School and was a 1974 graduate of Kiel High School. On April 26, 1975 he married Elizabeth “Betty” Dhein at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. He was employed for the past 23 years at Kohler Company. Michael was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. His biggest enjoyment in his life was spending time with his family and friends, bow hunting, camping and landscaping. Survivors include his wife, Betty of Kiel; three sons, Bryant (Nichole) Scharenbroch, Belleville, Christopher (Gretchen) Scharenbroch, Madison, Nicholas Scharenbroch and Jill TeWinkle, Kiel; one granddaughter, his parents, Larry and Lavern Scharenbroch, Newton; and mother-in-law, Millie Dhein, Kiel. CLAUDIA SCHICKER Kiel news: The infant twin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Schicke of Kiel died on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock after an illness of one week. Funeral services were held on Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock at the Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic church. The Rev. A. Roder officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. JOSEPH SCHICKER Joseph Schicker, 74, passed away at 4:34 a. m. today at his home, one mile west of Kiel. Born Sept. 7, 1877, in the town of New Holstein, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Schicker, he resided on the present farm for the past 45 years. He also was employed at the Kiel Furniture factory and Kiel Woodenware. On July 20, 1897, he was married to Miss Katherine Koehler of Marytown, and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1947. Survivors are his wife; eight children, Mrs. Dewey (Pauline) Wussow and Mrs. Harry (Philomine) Mapes of Milwaukee, Mrs. John (Alvina) Hoekstra and Mrs. John (Anne) Krutzik of Kiel, Mrs. Edward (Lucy) Rieden of New Holstein, Mrs. Frank (Mathilda) Broeckel of Sturgeon Bay, Edward and Albert of Milwaukee; 36 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One son and one daughter preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a. m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home at Kiel and at 10 o'clock at SS Peter and Paul Catholic church with the Rev. F. X. Kheil officiating. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. - 3-8-1952


KATHERINE SCHICKER Mrs. Katherine Schicker, 80, passed away at her home west of Kiel on Monday evening following a brief illness. Nee Koehler, she was born Dec. 16, 1874, at Marytown. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Survivors include two sons, Edward and Albert, both of Milwaukee; six daughters, Mrs. Dewey Wussow and Mrs. Philomine Mapes of Milwaukee, Mrs. John Hoekstra and Mrs. John Krutzig of Kiel, Mrs. Edward Rieden of New Holstein, and Mrs. Frank Broeckel of Sturgeon Bay; 37 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Englebert of Kiel and Joseph of Marytown; and one sister, Mrs. Anton Hammer of Chilton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Schicker, one son and one daughter. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, at the Meiselwitz Funeral home, Kiel, and at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. F.X. Kheil will be celebrant of the requiem high mass and burial will be made in the church cemetery. MICHAEL SCHICKER Michael Schicker, 51, a former resident of the town of New Holstein, died early today at his home in Fox Lake, Wis., after a lingering illness. Born November 20, 1898, on a farm one-half mile west of Kiel, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schicker, he attended the parochial schools at Kiel and was married to Stella Karls on Mar. 3, 1924, at Milwaukee. The couple made their home at Markesan before moving to Fox Lake about six years ago. Survivors include his wife; five sons and a daughter (names omitted for privacy). His parents, two brothers and six sisters also survive. One son and a sister preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home, Kiel, and at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul church. The Rev. F.X. Kheil, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in the Kiel Catholic cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Monday until the time of the services. Sheboygan Press, Sat. ESTELLA E. (SCHICKER) ECKERT "STELLA" Estella Eckert, 88, formerly of 2525 S. 8th St., died Monday, Nov. 4, 1991, at Heritage Nursing Center, where she had resided the last two years. The former Estella Karls was born July 30, 1903, in St. Cloud, Wis., a daughter of the late Jacob and Susan Mertin Karls. Estella grew up on the family farm and attended schools in the St. Cloud area. In March of 1923, Estella was united in marriage to Mike Schicker in Kiel. Mike died in February of 1950. In June of 1952, Estella was united in marriage to Will Eckert in Sheboygan. William died in 1978. Estella was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Survivors include four sons, Clarence (Ellen) Schicker, of Adell; Mike (Eileen) Schicker, of Sheboygan; Joseph (Pearl) Schicker, of Ripon; and John (Lorraine) Schicker, of Sheboygan; one daughter, Mrs. Loretta (Otto) Willmite, of Sheboygan; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Nenning, of Stockbridge; Mrs. Lucille Florian, of Sheboygan; and Mrs. Louise Bruckner, of Oshkosh; Estella is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Glendora Schicker, of Milwaukee. Estella was preceded in death by two sons, Leo and Claude and nine brothers. Funeral services for Estella will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m., at Ramm- Ziegler-Novak-Rettke Funeral Home, Southside chapel. The Rev. William Redeker, pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will take place in Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 1535 S. 12th St., on Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial fund has been established in Estella's name.
