ERHARDT WACHS A memorial funeral Mass for Erhardt E. Wachs, 77, of 1144 Adams Street, Kiel, was celebrated Tuesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, Kiel, with the Rev. Thomas Leannah, pastor, as celebrant. Mr. Wachs died Wednesday afternoon at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home. He was born November 27, 1909 in Milwaukee, son of the late Julius and Ellen Leonard Wachs, and attended Milwaukee area schools. On November 28, 1934 he married the former Angeline Beck in Milwaukee. He was employed at the Allis Chalmers Corp., West Allis, for 36 years, retiring in 1976. After that he lived in Woodruff and moved to Kiel in 1975. Mr. Wachs was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, Kiel. He is survived by his wife, Angeline; three sons, Erhardt Jr., Portland, Oregon; Michael, Tucson, Arizona; and Peter of Appleton; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Robert (Marie) Maletzke, Manitowish Waters. ADELINE A. WAGNER Adeline A. Wagner, 85, formerly of 805 First St., Kiel died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein Adeline was born on April 26, 1920 in the town of Russell, Sheboygan Co., daughter of the late Katie Schuler Polster & Louis Polster. She attended grade school in the town of Russell & Stockbridge, and graduated from Elkhart Lake High School in May of 1938. On April 12, 1947 she married Walter A. Wagner at St. Gregory Parsonage, St. Nazianz. Walter preceded her in death on November 15, 1993. Adeline worked at the Red Owl Store in Kiel until her retirement in 1980. Adeline was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel where she volunteered her time bringing Holy Communion to shut-ins and was a member of the Christian Women's Society. She was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and spent many hours volunteering at Vinnie's Pantry and the Senior Center, Kiel. She also was a member of the Happy Hour Homemakers and Kiel VFW Post 6707 Auxiliary. She also worked with the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts when her children where involved. She knitted hundreds of mittens, sweaters and afghans in her lifetime, and enjoyed gardening and doing cross word puzzles. Adeline is survived by one daughter, Donna Marie (Jim) Backus, Eau Claire and three sons: Dr. Ronald (Rebecca) Wagner, Boston, MA, Dennis (Debra) Wagner, Minneapolis, MN, Neil (Yvonne) Wagner, Mequon, four grandchildren: Heidi (Jeff) Reynolds, Tacoma, WA, Cassie & Luke of Mequon, Alexandra of Minneapolis.Adeline was especially excited about a brand-new great granddaughter, (private). She is further survived by two sisters, Marion (Clarence) Wagner, Valders, Kathleen Otto, New Holstein, five brothers: Gordon (Serena) Polster, New Holstein, Henry (Joyce) Polster, Kiel, Louis (Janet) Polster, Kiel, James (Luanne) Polster, Cleveland, Clarence (Barbara) Polster, Sheboygan Falls, brothers & sisters-in-law, John & Florence Wagner, Kenneth & Marie Bonde, Yvonne Polster, many nieces, nephews, friends and her special "adopted" family, Dan, Maree, Jacob & Ellie Karls. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul, DeLyle and Allen and her grandson, Brian. Adeline will be remembered as a Mom who always had room for one more at the table. Funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel with the Rev. Loren Nys S.D.S. officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. CHARLES A. "CHUCK" WAGNER Charles “Chuck” Wagner, 43, of Paine St., Kiel, died Friday morning, April 5, 2002 at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton, after a courageous battle with melanoma. He was born June 1, 1958 in Sheboygan, son of Joseph Wagner and the late Dolores Burmahln Wagner. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School, was a 1975 graduate of Kiel High School and in 1978 he graduated from LTC with an Associates Degree in electronics. On July 20, 1996, he married Deborah Overbeck at First United Methodist Church, Fond du Lac. Chuck worked as a trim saw operator for the past 23 years at AA Laun Furniture Co., Kiel. He enjoyed golfing, building models, collecting sports memorabilia, astronomy and writing science fiction. He also was very involved with the over 35 basketball league at Ss. Peter and Paul league and an avid Packer fan. Survivors include his wife, Debbie, his father, Joseph Wagner, rural Kiel; two brothers, John (Donna) Wagner, Phoenix, Ariz., Scott (Tammy) Wagner, Kiel; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores and one infant son, Matthew on Sept. 17, 1996. Funeral services will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, with the Rev. CLINTON WAGNER Horses Drag Young Farmer To Death. Kiel, Wis. - Horses which he was leading to pasture with a strap tied around his arm, ran away and dragged Clinton Wagner, son of Matthew Wagner, a farmer living near here, to his death. The boy's head struck a stone and his skull was fractured. Sheboygan Press, Tues. Aug. 19, 1919, p. 3, c. 2 ******* KIEL BOY DRAGGED TO HIS DEATH BY HORSE HE WAS LEADING TO PASTURE ON FARM Clinton Wagner, a Kiel boy, son of Matthew Wagner, a well known farmer, was dragged to his death by a horse which he was leading to pasture. The animal started to run and the boy was thrown to the ground and dragged along, his skull being fractured by a stone which his head struck. The lad had tied the strap, by which he was leading the horse to his arm when the animal started to get restless and ran, the boy was thrown to the ground and was unable to release the strap. CONRAD WAGNER Aged Resident Of Plymouth Called To Rest Monday. Plymouth. -Conrad Wagner, aged 82, died at his home in Plymouth Monday evening at 10:35 o'clock. Funeral services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic church at Plymouth Thursday morning at 9 o'clock and burial will be made in the Kiel cemetery. The Rev. A. J. July will officiate. Mr. Wagner was born in August, 1848, at Buffalo, New York. Some years later he came to Manitowoc where he lived until eighteen years ago when he came to Plymouth to make his home. He was married on November 3, 1874, and besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J. Tagge of Plymouth, and a son, Matt Wagner, also of Plymouth. DELORES WAGNER Dolores V. Wagner(sic), 62, 13426 Meggers Road, Kiel, died Friday evening, March 16, at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton after a lengthy illness. The former Dolores Burmahln was born August 17, 1927, in the Town of Schleswig, Manitowoc County, a daughter of the late John and Olivia Gruhl Burmahln. She attended Kiel Middle School and was a 1945 graduate of Kiel High School. On September 4, 1953, she married Joseph Wagner at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, and its Christian Mothers Society. Survivors are her husband, three sons, John (Donna) of Phoenix, Arizona; Charles at home and Scott of Kiel. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Mass was Tuesday at Ss. JOSEPH L. WAGNER Joseph L. Wagner, age 81, of Kiel, died Thursday morning, May 17, 2012 at Willowdale Nursing & Rehab Center, New Holstein where he resided the past 2 weeks. He was born September 20, 1930 in St. Joe, son of the late Albert & Dorothy (Stephanie) Wagner. He attended New Holstein schools. Joe was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 5th Armored Division in the Korean War. On September 5, 1953 he married Dolores Burmahln at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein. Dolores preceded him in death on March 16, 1990. Joe worked as a mechanic for 30 years, first with the Hingiss Dealership in New Holstein and later with Vogel Chevrolet, Kiel. He also farmed for 40 years in the town of Schleswig. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the Kiel VFW Post #6707. Joe enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting. Survivors include two sons: John (Donna Bronski) Wagner, Scottsdale, AZ, Scott (Tammy) Wagner, Kiel, one granddaughter, Haley, daughter-in-law, Debbie Wagner, Berlin and special friend of 8 years, Carol Gierke and her family. He is further survived by his brother, Donald (Katie) Wagner, New Holstein, sister, Mary (Clarence) Biese, Chilton, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Wagner, infant grandson, Matthew, two brothers; Sylvester Wagner, Francis (Aggie) Wagner and one sister, Miranda (Jerome) Leitner. The funeral Mass for Joe will be celebrated at 6:00 pm, Monday, May 21, 2012 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 413 Fremont St., Kiel with Rev. Loren Nys S.D.S. officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Family & friends may call at the church on Monday from 3:00 pm until 5:45 pm when brief family rites will be held. KATIE WAGNER Mrs. Katharine Wagner, 93, a former resident of Kiel, died late Monday morning at the Anna M. Reiss Home following a lingering illness. Her brother, Nicholaus Lorge of Plymouth, believed to have been the oldest resident of Sheboygan County, died last Saturday at the age of 97. Born March 10, 1860, at Belgium, Wis., she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lorge, pioneer residents of Calumet County, and moved to Kiel after her marriage to Michael Wagner at St. Ann's Church at St. Ann. Mrs. Wagner had been a resident of the Anna M. Reiss Home since 1941. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Kiel. Only immediate survivors are a grandson, Henry Wagner, of Chilton, and four great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1931. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Meiselwitz Funeral, Kiel, and at 9:30 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. F.X. Kheil, pastor, will be the celebrant of the requiem high mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. MARGARETHA WAGNER The burial of Mrs. Margaret Wagner of Plymouth took place in the Kiel Catholic cemetery on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, preceded by services at the St. John's Catholic church at Plymouth, with the Rev. A. J. July officating. Mrs. Wagner was born December 24, 1853 in Germany, and came to this country with her parents, Mathew and Agnes Kretsch at the age of 3 years. Her marriage to Conrad Wagner took place 60 years ago, and Mr. Wagner preceded her in death 6 years ago. One son also preceded her in death. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Christine Tagge of Plymouth, with whom she made her home the past 25 years; a son, Matthew Wagner of Manitowoc; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Mathew Kretsch of the town of Meeme, and John Kretsch of the town of Herman. 1936


MICHAEL WAGNER Michael Wagner Of Kiel Called To Rest On Thursday. Kiel. - Michael Wagner, aged 78, died at his home, 1003 Seventh street, Thursday evening at 6:15 o'clock, following an illness of three years' duration. He was born in Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany on December 26, 1853 and came to this country with his parents at the age of twelve years. On January 16, 1882 he was married to Miss Catherine Lorge of St. Anna at St. Anna where they lived for eight years. Later they moved to Kiel where Mr. Wagner conducted a saloon for twenty years, after which he retired. Besides his wife, Mr. Wagner is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Peter Enders of Chilton and Mrs. Margaret Lorge of Salena, California. The funeral will be held Monday morning with a requiem mass at SS. SYLVESTER P. "SYL" WAGNER Sylvester P. "Syl" Wagner, 79, of Kiel died unexpectedly Friday morning July 4, 2008. He was born December 18, 1928 in St. Joe, WI son of the late Albert and Dorothy (Stephanie) Wagner. Syl attended school in Johnsburg and St. Cloud. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Germany during the Korean War. During that time he traveled with General Eisenhower for several months while he was campaigning for President. Sylvester was employed at the Langenfeld Associated Mink Farm, NewHolstein, he also managed the Silvers Springs Fish Hatchery in Plymouth, for many years until his retirement he was the head custodian for the Kiel School District. Syl was a member of the New Holstein American Legion Post #124 and was also a member of the Kiel VFW Post #6707. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the DANK Club of Sheboygan. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, working on his tractors and traveling. FRANCES WALBER Mrs. John Walber, 78, of Little Elkhart Lake, Town of Rhine, died at Plymouth Hospital Thursday evening where she had been a patient 10 days. The former Frances Taubel, she was born April 3, 1895 at Charlestown, Calumet County, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Taubel. On Dec. 6, 1912, she was married to Mr. Walber at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Kiel. The couple lived in Kiel, New Holstein, Town of Russell and since 1957 at Little Elkhart Lake. She had been employed at the Musebeck Shoe Co., Cedar Grove, for 16 years before retiring. Mrs. Walber was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Plymouth. Survivors are her husband; three sons, August of Chilton, Garfield of Sheboygan and Eugene of Cedar Grove; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Madella) Perl of Kiel, Mrs. Delores Bunge of Milwaukee and Mrs. Sylvester (Bernice) Schweitzer of R. 1, Plymouth; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Joseph Taubel of Sheboygan Falls. A daughter and two brothers preceded her in death. ELIZABETH WALKER Mrs. Elizabeth Walker, 88, died in Greeley, Colorado, Tuesday. Mrs. Walker was born in Town Rhine, daughter of the late Bernard Nottling and married Max Walker in Denver, Colorado, on October 11, 1920. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Walter Cameron of Denver and several grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Richard Krutzik, Route 1, Elkhart Lake; and two brothers, Henry Nottling of New Holstein and John of Sheboygan. MAX WALKER Max Walker, 73, Dies In Greeley Friday. Max Walker, 73, of 1440 Tenth street, Greeley, died Friday evening after a three year's illness. He was a retired water serviceman of the Union Pacific railroad. Mr. Walker was a native of Germany but came to the United States when he was a small boy. He had lived in Greeley 14 years. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Walker and by two children: Cpl. William P. Walker of the U. S. marines in Korea, and Mrs. Jack Cameron of Fort Morgan. There are two grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Macy's. Recitation of the Rosary will be held for Max Walker, who died in Greeley Friday evening, at 8 p.m. Sunday at Macys drawing room. He was born in Greeley on Feb. 27, 1923, the son of Elizabeth Nottling Walker and the late Max Walker, and married the former Jean Biggs, of Cheyenne, Wyo. Mr. Walker was a Marine for 20 years, and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam war. LEO J. WALSDORF Leo J. Walsdorf, 78, 526 Fremont Street, Kiel, died Wednesday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after an illness of several months. Mr. Walsdorf was born June 11, 1905 in the town of New Holstein, son of Nicholas and Elizabeth Frankmann Walsdorf. He graduated from New Holstein High School in 1924, and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1932. Mr. Walsdorf married the former Viola Rock on January 2, 1930 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The couple lived in Kiel after marriage. Mr. Walsdorf, also known as “Polly”, was a cashier at Citizens State Bank, Kiel, for 33 years, retiring in 1967. He was also the former owner and operator of the Walsdorf Roofing Company in Kiel, and was recently director of the company. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, its Holy Name Society, a 50 year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was also vice president and director of Citizens State Bank. Mr. Walsdorf is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. William (Jean) Fromm and Mrs. Al C. (Patricia L) Hartmann, both of Kiel; four sons, Daniel, Timothy, David and Michael, all of Kiel; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one brother, Vincent, rural New Holstein. Walsdorf, age 54, of W373 Highway 149, Kiel, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, April 13, 1995, shortly after being admitted to Calumet Medical Center, Chilton, of complications from asthma. Tim currently was president of Walsdorf Roofing Company Inc., Kiel, and was president of Wincon Services, Inc. Kiel. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, past member of the board of directors at Valley Bank Corp., Kiel and Kewauskum and was also a member of Pine Hills Country Club, Sheboygan. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two sons, Tim of Kiel, and special friend, Pattie Even, Todd and Traci, rural New Holstein; two grandchildren, Cole and Andrea; three brothers, Daniel, David (Eilleen), Michael (Lois), all of Kiel; two sisters, Patricia L. VIOLA WALSDORF Viola M. Walsdorf, 80, of 526 Fremont Street, Kiel, died Thursday afternoon, July 25, 1991 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton, shortly after being admitted. She is the former Viola Rock, born December 8, 1910, in School Hill, Wis., daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Schaller Rock. She attended school in Plymouth. On January 2, 1930 she married Leo Walsdorf at St. Ambrose Catholic Church St. Nazianz. Her husband, Leo, founded Walsdorf Roofing Inc., in Kiel and Viola served as vice president. Her husband, Leo, preceded her in death on November 2, 1983. She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, the Christian Mother’s Society, Catholic Order of Foresters and the American Legion Auxiliary of the Casper, Bechle and Wilkens Unit 99. JOANN WALTER Mrs. Josef Walter, 34, Route 2, Kiel, died Saturday night at the University Hospital, Madison, where she had been a patient for two days. The former Jo Ann Beck was born December 18, 1942 in Chicago, a daughter of Ted and Mary Conover Beck. She attended parochial school in Chicago. On June 8, 1963 she was married to Mr. Walter at St. Viator Catholic church, Chicago. The couple lived in Chicago until 1973 when they moved to the town of Schleswig. Mrs. Walter was a member of Ss. KATHERINE WALTER Katharina “Katie” Walter, 82, formerly First St. Kiel, died May 14, 2003, at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein where she resided since April 2001. She was the former Katharina Rummel born April 19, 1921 in Kakasd, Hungary, daughter of Stephen and Mary Marxer Rummel. On Nov. 13, 1939 she married Michael Walter, her hometown sweetheart, in Kakasd, Hungary. The couple immigrated to America, settling in Chicago, Ill., where they lived for 19 years. Both Mike and Katie worked at Victor Electronics in Chicago before moving to Kiel in 1971. Katie worked at the Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein, for five years before retiring. Her husband preceded her in death on June 26, 1993. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and the Christian Women’s Society. Katie was a volunteer at the Kiel Community Center for 15 years. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, making rosaries and babysitting her great grandchildren. Survivors include one son, Josef (Caroline) Walter of Chicago; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Stephen and Joseph, two sisters, Mary and Magdalena; and daughter-in-law, JoAnn Walter. Funeral services will be held at Ss. MICHAEL WALTER Michael Walter, 77, of 1129 First Street, Kiel died June 26, 1993 at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton. He was born Aug. 5, 1915 in Kakasd, Hungary, son of the late Michael and Barbara (Hepp) Walter. On Nov. 13, 1939, he married Katharina Rummel at Kakasd, Hungary. The couple emigrated to America in 1952 and settled in Chicago. They moved to Kiel in 1971. Michael worked as a machine operator at Heus Manufacturing. He was a Mass server at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was devoted to his family and God. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and making rosaries for Third World countries. Survivors include his wife; one son, Josef (Caroline), Chicago; three grand- children including Mary and Karl Deibele of Kiel; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Walter. Funeral services were held at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. The Rev. OLIVE WALTERS Mrs. Olive Walters, 67, of route 1, New Holstein, died Saturday afternoon at Calumet memorial Hospital in Chilton. A daughter of Frank and Emma Jahnty Klaeser, she was born May 11, 1911, in Kiel where she attended SS. Peter and Paul Catholic School. Later she moved to South Bend, Ind., where she married Edward Walters on May 3, 1947. Mr. Walters died in May 1958. In 1964, Mrs. Walters returned to Kiel where she was employed at the Kiel Wooden War Co. and Seifert’s Manufacturing C. She retired in 1971. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Emeranda Mies of rural New Holstein and a brother, Gilbert of Madera, Calif. Two brothers preceded her in death. The funeral Mass will be at SS. EMIL WATRY Emil Watry, Resident Of Kiel For Many Years, Summoned. Kiel. -Emil Watry, aged 39, a resident of Kiel for the past several years, passed away at the State hospital at Madison, Saturday, at 3 a.m., where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. Mr. Watry had undergone an operation which proved fatal. The deceased, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Watry, was born in the town of Stockbridge, on September 9, 1894. He was married to Miss Mathilda Grewe of Chilton, February 26, 1919, and the couple located on a farm in the town of Stockbridge, where they resided for 8 years. In 1927, they sold the farm and moved to Kiel where Mr. Watry was in the employ of the Kiel Wooden Ware company. To the couple were born two daughters. Survivors are his wife, two daughters, age 14, age 12 (names omitted for privacy); his father, Dominic Watry of Stockbridge; three sisters, Mrs. Mathias Schaefer, of Stockbridge; Mrs. Theodore Jacky of Brothertown, and Mrs. John E. Schmitt, of Cedar Lake, near Kiel; and six brothers, Edward Watry of Sherwood; Adolph, of Stockbridge; Isadore, of St. Anna; Ado, of Fredonia; Henry, of Cleveland, Ohio; and Victor, of Calumet. MATHILDA WATRY Mrs. Mathilda M. Watry, 75, widow of Emil, a former resident of Kiel and New Holstein, died Tuesday evening at Calumet Homestead in New Holstein. Laun Furniture Co. in Kiel from 1936 until her retirement in 1951, when she moved to New Holstein to make her home with her son-in-law and daughter (names omitted for privacy). ANNA WEBER Mrs. Math J. Weber, 64, of 822 Fremont St., Kiel, died unexpectedly at her home at 7:30 a.m. today shortly after suffering a heart attack. The former Anna Hansen, she was born at Jericho (Calumet) County), Nov. 20, 1894, a daughter of the late Jacob and Theresa Winderich Hansen. She was educated at the Catholic school in Jericho and was married to Mr. Weber, of Marytown, Oct. 12, 1915. The couple farmed near Marytown for 40 years before retiring. They moved to Kiel in April, 1958. Surviving are her husband; a son, Sylvester, New Holstein; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Lorena) Diefenthaler, Kiel, and Mrs. Joseph (Kathleen) Guelig, St. Cloud, and 13 grandchildren. FRANCES WEBER Funeral services were held Friday for Mrs. Frank Weber, 74, of 923 Seventh Street, who died Tuesday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. She had been a patient there for several days. She was married February 16, 1914, at St. Anna, to Frank Weber of Marytown. They operated a farm in the St. Anna-Marytown area until eight years ago when they retired and moved to Kiel. FRANK M. WEBER Frank P. Weber(sic), 96, a former Marytown area resident, died Saturday morning at Chilton Village Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for the past five years. He was born January 4, 1888, in Marytown, a son of the late Paul and Christina Durben Weber. He attended school in Marytown. On February 16, 1914, he married Frances LaCroix at St. Anna. The couple farmed near St. Anna and later in the Marytown area until retiring in 1962. She died in 1970. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, and the Holy Name Society of St. Mary Catholic Church, Marytown. He was educated in St. Nazianz schools and joined his father in operation of a farm and saw mill near Pigeon Lake. They founded a granary and sawmill at Rockville which continued operation for 25 years. Weber had been a resident of Kiel for the past 26 years. He operated a small shop and was a member of the Kiel Chamber of Commerce. Only immediate survivor is a sister, Mrs. Thomas Mahlberg, New Holstein. His parents and three sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at the Meiselwitz funeral home and at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church Saturday morning. Rev. F.X. NICK J. WEBER Kiel Man Found Dead in Garage. KIEL - A 21-year-old Kiel man took his own life by carbon monoxide poisoning early Wednesday. Calumet County Coroner LeRoy Hughes said Nicholas J. Weber of 615 Tenth St. was found dead in his car in the family garage. The son of Mrs. Julie and the late Norman L. Weber, he was bon on Dec. 25, 1949 in Sheboygan, and graduated from Kiel High School in 1968. He attended Lakeshore Technical Institute - Sheboygan and was employed by Red Beulow Chevrolet-Cadillac Inc., Sheboygan. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, and of its Holy Name Society. His father preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 1955. Survivors include his mother, two sisters, a brother (names omitted for privacy), and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Math Weber of Kiel. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home, Kiel, and at 9:30 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, the Rev. George Kiefer, pastor, celebrant of the requiem mass. NORMAN L. WEBER Norman L. Weber, 37, of 615 10th St. Kiel, died early today after a several months illness at Veterans Hospital at Wood, Wis. He was born Oct. 23, 1917 in Marytown, the son of Math J. and Anna Weber. He attended the parochial school in Marytown and on May 18, 1946 married Julie Heaney of Fond du Lac at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Fond du Lac. The couple settled in Kiel where Mr. Weber was employed at the Lake to Lake dairy plant. In Sept. 1942 he entered the Marine Corps and served most of his three year service in the south Pacific. He was discharged in Sept. 1945. Survivors are his wife; four children (names and ages omitted for privacy); his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Diefenthaler, Kiel, and Mrs. Joseph Guelig, R. 1, St. Cloud; and one brother Sylvester of New Holstein. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. F.X. Kheil will be celebrant of the requiem high mass following brief rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel. Burial will be in the church cemetery. RUDOLPH WENDLING Rudolph Wendling Of Kiel Passes Away Monday. Kiel. -Rudolph Wendling, 53, lifelong resident of 640 Calumet Drive, Kiel, died Monday at St. Nicholas hospital after an illness of several weeks. Born May 8, 1894, in the town of Herman, the son of Peter and Sophie Schnuelle Wendling, he was married Dec. 30, 1920 to Elsie Kautzer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kautzer, Sr., of Kiel. Survivors are his wife; 12 children (names omitted for privacy); three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Robert Schmidt of Gillette, Wis., Mrs. William giese of Milwaukee, Mrs. Herman Tiedge of Wheaton, Ill., Herman of Kiel; two grandchildren. His parents, a brother and a sister preceded him in death. DANIEL L. WERDEO Daniel L. Werdeo, 52, of 3 E. Mueller Road, Kiel, died Saturday, June 6, 1998 at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 16, 1946 a son of the late Matthew and Helen Wendel Werdeo. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Kiel and was a 1964 graduate of Kiel High School. On June 21, 1969 he married JoAnn Roehrig at Visitation Catholic Church in Marytown. Dan was employed at Kohler Co. for the past 23 years as a maintenance man. He enjoyed deer hunting and trap shooting. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, the Hermitage Club and the Highland Swampers Deer Hunting Club. ELMER F. WERDEO Elmer F. Werdeo, 82, of Kiel, died Tuesday morning, March 26, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton, from complications of surgery. He was born February 13, 1931 in Charlesburg, son of the late Mathew & Helen (Wendel) Werdeo. Elmer was a 1949 graduate of Kiel High School and continued his education at Green Bay Barber School, graduating in 1958. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country in the Korean War from 1951-1953. On October 22, 1955 he married Rose Ann Fuhrmann at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marytown. Elmer was a barber in Kiel from 1959 until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and the Badger Tri- County VFW Post #6707, serving as a past commander. He also was a former member of Quit Qui Oc Monday Night Golf League & Badger Creek Senior League as well as a former member of the Kiel Auto Body Bowling Team and Saturday Night Couples League. In 1968 he established the Kiel Horseshoe League. Elmer enjoyed playing cards, bingo, jigsaw puzzles and fishing. HELEN B. WERDEO Helen B. Werdeo, 84, of 3 E. Mueller Rd., Kiel died Thursday, Aug. 18, at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan. She was born Feb. 3, 1910 in Charlesburg, a daughter of Michael and Margaret Vollmer Wendel. On Aug. 14, 1926 she married Matthew Werdeo at Holy Redeemer Catholic church in Milwaukee. She and her husband farmed in the Town of Schleswig until retiring. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, the Christian Mothers, Kiel Senior Citizens and Kiel Senior Singers. Survivors include five son, Elmer and his wife Rose Ann, Ronald and his wife Darlene, Bob Sr. and his wife Arlene and Dan and his wife JoAnn, all of Kiel, and Ken and his wife Kathy of Ada; two daughters, Jeanette Strickland and her husband Alvin of Rome, Ga., and Barbara Marx and her husband Clarence of Kingman, Ariz.; 25 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one brother, Herman Wendel of Minneapolis, Minn.; and two sisters, Erma Becker of Rural Elkhart Lake and Josephine Klapperich, Marytown. JESSE WERDEO 6th Calumet County Fatality. Boy, 11, Killed, 9 Hurt in Crash. KIEL - An 11-year-old Kiel boy was killed Sunday night and nine persons injured in a two car crash at an intersection 2 1/2 miles west of here. Dead at the scene was Jesse M. Werdeo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald M. Werdeo, 705 North St. His death was attributed to a severed jugular vein and internal injuries. He was a passenger in a car driven by his father, who sustained fractured ribs. His mother, Darlene, 30, had bruises and a small laceration to her forehead, and his three sisters, ages 5, 10 and 1 (names omitted for privacy), all suffered bruises and abrasions. All are listed in satisfactory condition today at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. MATTHEW F. WERDEO Mathew F. Werdeo(sic), 77, of Three E. Mueller Road, Kiel, died this morning at St. Nicholas Hospital, where he had been a patient for one day. He was born Sept. 15 1903, in Germany, a son of the late Mathias and Josephine Werdeo. He came to the United States with his parents in 1915. They lived in Milwaukee and Michigan before moving to Kiel. He attended Milwaukee schools. Mr. Werdeo married Helen Wendel Aug 14, 1926, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Milwaukee. The couple lived in Milwaukee and Elkhart Lake before moving to rural Kiel, to farm. He was employed at A.A. Laun Furniture Co., Kiel, until his retirement in 1971. Mr. Werdeo was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, its Holy Name Society, and of the Kiel Senior Citizens. Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Jeanette) Strickland, of Rome, Ga., and Mrs. Clarence (Barbara) Marx, of Fond du Lac; five sons, Elmer, Ronald, Robert, Kenneth and Daniel, all of Kiel; 25 grandchildren; three great grand- children; a brother, John Werdeo, of Lakeland, Fla., and a sister, Mrs. Fred Floryanc, of Milwaukee. The deceased had seen the light of day in Westphalia, Germany, on October 10th 1828, and came to America as a six-years-old boy with his parents who settled at first in New York. Twelve years later, the family came to Herman town, Sheboygan co. About 20 years ago, Mr. Wesling, who had been married twice, came to Kiel together with his second wife who died two years later. He leaves behind 3 children of his first marriage, three stepchildren as well as 9 grandchildren, two grand- grandchildren, and one brother, the latter living in St. Nazianz. The deceased’s mortal coils were interred on Monday morning, after the exequies conducted by Rev. Kolbe, at the local Catholic cemetery. ANTON WETTSTEIN ANTON WETTSTEIN DIED AT SHEBOYGAN HOSPITAL Anton Wettstein, aged 74, passed away late Saturday afternoon at the St. Nicholas hospital in Sheboygan, where he had been confined on a few days. He had been in ill health for some time, although he was able to be up and around. Mr. Wettstein was born at Marytown July 27, 1874, the son of Adrian and Catherine Maurer-Wettstein. In November of 1897 he was married to Mary Krause. She died in 1913 and in October of 1914 was married to Susanna Williams-Drews. Mr. Wettstein worked as a mason for many years and later operated taverns in New Holstein and Kiel, prior to his retirement in 1944. Survivors include three sons and four daughters, namely: Jerome of Milwaukee, LeRoy of New Holstein, Loyal of this city, Mrs. George (Adeline) Stieber of Sheboygan, Mrs. Roland (Sylonia) Brennan of Manitowoc, Mrs. Henry (Aurelia) Schmidt of here, and Mrs. Clarence (Lucille) Schwarz of New Holstein; one step-son, Raymond Drews of this city; 13 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ed Schuette of New Holstein, Mrs. Arthur Manz of this city, and Mrs. Gertrude Arenz of Fond du Lac; six brothers, Frank of Fairmont, N. GLADYS WETTSTEIN Gladys M. Wettstein, 72, of 717 Chicago St., Kiel, died Monday morning, April 20, 1992, at Appleton Medical Center. She is the former Gladys Kautzer, born March 25, 1920 at Kiel, Wis., daughter of the late John and Marie Schnell Kautzer. She was a 1939 graduate of Kiel High School. On October 20, 1945, she married Loyal Wettstein at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. She was employed at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein for 23 years retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, the Kiel VFW Auxiliary and the Christian Mothers. Survivors include her husband, Loyal; one son, Dennis (Cheryl of Sheboygan, one daughter, Mary (John) Klovning, of Menomonee, Wis.; four grandchildren, and one sister, Ethel Clarke of Los Banos, Calif. LOYAL E. WETTSTEIN Loyal E. Wettstein, age 92, of 717 Chicago St., Kiel died Monday morning, July 19, 2010. He was born December 26, 1917 in Kiel, son of the late Anton and Suzanna (Williams) Wettstein. He attended SS Peter & Paul Grade School and was a graduate of Kiel High School. Loyal was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during World War II from 1943-1945 in Italy. On October 20, 1945 he married Gladys Kautzer at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Gladys preceded him in death on April 20, 1992. He worked at AA Laun Furniture Company, Kiel for a number years retiring in 1982. Loyal was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and Kiel VFW Post #6707. Loyal and his wife Gladys enjoyed dancing together and his favorite past-time was going for drives. SUZANNA WILLIAMS DREWS WETTSTEIN Mrs. Susanna Wettstein, 84, of 726 Chicago St., Kiel, died Thursday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. The Rev. Francis Kerscher will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Wettstein, nee Susanna Williams, was born Aug. 25, 1888, at Kiel, daughter of the late Joseph and Wilhelmina Dressen Williams. She was married to Paul Drews in 1908 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Mr. Drews preceded her in death in 1912. She was married to Anton Wettstein in 1914, also at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Mr. Wettstein preceded her in death in June of 1945. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Christian Mothers Society of the church and the G.U.G. Germania Society.
