AGNES HOLSCHBACH cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 22 Mar. 1906: Death in Town Kossuth on Sunday morning of a 2-year old child of Mr. A. Holschbach, with the funeral Tuesday in the local Catholic cemetery.

PEARL I. HOLSCHBACH cemetery #33 Age 76, of 3304 Hwy 310, Manitowoc, died early Thursday morning, September 14, 2000, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, due to complications following heart angioplasty. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2000, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Gerald Foley with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth. She was born June 7, 1924, in Appleton, daughter of the late Arthur and Frances (Sternagel) Noffke. On July 20, 1946, she married Raymond Holschbach, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton. Pearl was employed at the former Elm Tree Bakery, Appleton and also M & M Lunch in Two Rivers and retired in 1989 from Aluminum Specialty/Foley Company. She was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church. Fishing was Pearlie's passion and her family was her love. She was a great conversationalist and an avid reader. She especially enjoyed attending family sporting events. For the past 42 years, Pearlie and Ray and the Gray Squirrels have hosted a Labor Day Family Reunion to celebrate life with family and friends. Survivors include her husband, five sons and daughters in law, five daughters and sons in law, 16 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three sisters and a brother in law. She is further survived by two brothers in law, three sisters in law, also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles in 1959; four brothers: Sherman, Roy, Harold "Teenie", Ralph "Buckie"; one sister, Bernice "Tootsie" Huelsbeck; two brothers in law: Wilbert "Moon" Frederick, Ronald "Buddy" Wydeven; and three sisters in law; Ruth Holschbach, Dorothy Noffke and Elaine Holschbach. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday where a Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by Deacon Ken Nelesen. ADOLPH HOLSEN cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 26 Feb. 1885: Death of 65-year old Adolph Holson(sic) in Manitowoc Rapids on 24 Feb. He leaves seven grown children and was one of the oldest settlers of the town Manitowoc Rapids. He was buried Fri. morning in the Catholic Cemetery in Manitowoc.

ANTON HOLSEN cemetery #44 Manitowoc Herald April 24, 1942 Anton Holsen, 83 of 602 Columbus street, who retired last August after serving 41 years as engineer of the water utility and later combined electric and water utility here, died last night at the Holy Family hospital. Mr. Holsen has been in failing health several months and was moved to the hospital from his home last Saturday. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p. m. from the Holsen home, the Rev. A. C. ELIZABETH HOLSEN cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 14 Jan. 1897: After a long period of suffering with consumption, Mrs. Adolph Holsen died Sat. here in Manitowoc. The deceased, who reached the age of 32, was buried yesterday morning at the Catholic Cemetery.

PETER HOLSEN cemetery #43 Four years ago Peter Holsen, 81, retired farmer residing south of the city, visited a photographer to sit for a picture. At that time he said he wanted to make certain his picture would be available when he died. Mr. Holsen died yesterday at his farm home on route 3, following a year's illness. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 8:45 a. m. from the Pfeffer funeral home and at nine o'clock from the St. Andrew's Catholic church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

ALEX HOLZER cemetery #84 Alex Holzer Dies After Illness Alex A. Holzer, age 71, 312 Paine Street, died Monday afternoon at the Memorial hospital in Sheboygan. He had been a patient there for five weeks. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at St. Peter's United Church of Christ at two o'clock. Rev. Vernon Jaberg will officiate. Burial will be in the Rockville Cemetery. He was born October 18, 1890, in the Town of Eaton, son of the late Joseph and Mary Basel Holzer. He married Meta Voigt October 28, 1914, and the family resided at Kiel for a few years. He later operated cheese factories in the Kiel and Menchalville areas. The family moved back to Kiel in 1942 where he was employed by Kiel Frame Co. He was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ. Among survivors are his wife; three brothers, Henry of Kiel, Herbert of St. Nazianz and Joseph of Random Lake; and three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Loritz and Mrs. Phillip Hartman of Manitowoc and Mrs. Edwin Schreiber of Rt. 2, Kiel. A sister preceded him in death. October 4, 1962

HENRY HOLZER cemetery #83 Henry Holzer, 72 of 530 Broadway, Kiel, died unexpectedly at his home early today. Death was attributed to an apparent heart attack. Born at St. Nazianz on July 5, 1897, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Basel Holzer. He attended St. Gregory's School at St. Nazianz. On Oct. 20, 1931 he married the former Anne Marie Koenig of St. Nazianz at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. The couple located on the Holzer homestead in the Town of Eaton which they operated for 17 years. They moved to Kiel in 1948, where Mr. Holzer was employed at the A. A. Laun Furniture Co. until retiring in 1962. He was a member of the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, and the Catholic Order of Foresters 1529 of St. Nazianz. (Survivors omitted for privacy) Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, and at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, the Rev. George Kiefer, pastor, celebrant of the requiem Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday. A wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. - 1969

MARY HOLZER cemetery #21 MRS. MARY HOLZER DIES AT DAUGHTER’S HOME Mrs. Mary Holzer, aged 77, passed away Saturday at the home, of her daughter, Mrs. Edwin Schreiber at School Hill, following a lingering illness. Mrs. Holzer was born near Whitelaw on Feb. 23, 1869, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Basil. She was married to Joseph Holzer on Feb. 13, 1890. He preceded her in death several years ago. She is survived by eight ehildren, namely: Alex of Kiel, Henry and Herman of St. Nazianz, Joseph of Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. Ed. (Rose) Hartman of New Holstein, Mrs. Josephine Loritz of Quarry, Mrs. Ed. (Martha) Schreiber of School Hill and Mrs. Philip (Mayme) Hartman of Cato. There are also 30 grandchildren and 9 great—grandchildren; a brother, Carl of Oceanside, Cal., and a sister, Francis Ernst of Milwaukee. Funeral services were held at St. Gregory’s church in St. Nazianz at 9:30 a. m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Fintan Holzknecht officiating. Burial was made in the adjoining church cemetery. META HOLZER cemetery #84 Mrs. Meta Holzer, 83, widow of Alex and a former Kiel resident, died early today at the Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility. The former Meta Voigt, she was born Feb. 14, 1892 in the Town of Schleswig, a daughter of the late John and Amelia Backhaus Voigt. She attended district school. On Nov. 28, 1914 she was married to Alex Holzer. After their marriage the couple resided in Kiel prior to moving to Menchelville (Manitowoc County) where they operated a cheese factory. In 1942 the couple returned to Kiel. Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1962. Mrs. Holzer was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel. She is survived by nieces and nephews. Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter UCC. Rev. John F. Baumann, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Schleswig Cemetery, Rockville. CARL HOLZKNECHT cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 01 Jan. 1903: Death Sun. of Carl Holzknecht following a long illness with heart disease. The deceased, who was born 03 Apr. (no yr. given) in Amorbach, Bavaria, came to New York in 1851 where he married and was a resident until 1856. He came to Manitowoc in 1856 and established a tailoring business, and then in 1861 established the tavern "Zum Rathskeller" which he operated for many years. His wife died in 1876 and Mr. Holzknecht later married again. For some time he has had a heart condition, but no one knew how serious it was and so the news of his death was unanticipated. He is survived by a daughter from his first marriage, Mrs. Richard Mueller in Two Rivers. The funeral was held Wed. in the city cemetery.

ANNA HOLZMANN cemetery #83 Mrs. Anna Holzmann, aged 74, died at the Plymouth hospital on Sunday morning at 4 o’clock after a week's illness with pneumonia. The deceased, nee Holzmann, was born April 13, 1857 in the town of Rhine, where she spent her entire life with the exception of a short time when she and her husband lived in Marshfield. She was united in marriage to Andrew Holzmann, a cousin, Nov. 25, 1880. Survivors are three children, John, Margaret and Eva of the town of Rhine, a sister, Mrs. Geo. Schmahl, and two brothers, Michael and Lawrence on the homestead, and one brother John of Kiel. Her husband preceded her in death 35 years ago. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9:30 from the home, and at 10 o’clock at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church here, the Rev. A. Roder performing the last rites. Pallbearers were Mathias Becker, Frank Kretsch, Reinhard Becker, Frank Melger, Joseph Gilsdorf and John Holzschuh. Burial was in the church cemetery. Many relatives from Marshfield, Two Rivers, Milwaukee, Sheboygan, Plymouth and Elkhart Lake attended the services.

CONRAD HOLZMANN cemetery #83 Death claimed Conrad Holzmann, and old-time resident of the town of Rhine, on Wednesday morning, after several years' illness with kidney trouble. Deceased was 58 years old and unmarried. He is survived by three brothers: John of Kiel, Michael and Lorenz of Rhine, where the deceased made his home; and two sisters, Mrs. Geo. Schmahl and Mrs. Mannie Holzmann of Rhine. The funeral will be held on Friday morning at 9 o'clock from the home, with services in the Catholic church of Kiel at 10:00, Rev. O. Kolbe officiating. EVA HOLZMANN cemetery #83 Miss Eva Holzmann, 72, a resident of the Town of Rhine, died at 8:40 a. m. today at St Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, following several weeks illness. She was born Nov. 7, 1880, near Stratford. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Holzmann. As a child she moved with her parents to the Town of Rhine. There are no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a. m. Tuesday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and at 10 a. m. at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Father F. X. Kheil will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p. m. Sunday until the time of service. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Monday evening. - 1953

MARGARETA HOLZMANN ("Maggie") cemetery #83 After a complication of diseases and having undergone a goitre operation December 6th, 1932, from which she never fully recovered, Miss Margareta Holzmann, aged 47, passed away at her home in the town of Rhine five miles southeast of Kiel on Sunday morning at 3 o'clock. The deceased was born in Roselville, Marathon County, September 10, 1885, and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Holzmann. At the age of 10 she came to the town of Rhine with her parents and located on the Holzmann homestead where they have resided ever since and where the deceased passed away. Survivors are a brother John and one sister, Miss Eva, both on the homestead in the town of Rhine and also a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral was held from the home at 9:30 o'clock Wednesday morning and at 10:00 o'clock with services at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church at Kiel. The Rev. Fr. J. J. Esdepsky officiated and burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery near here. - January 1933

WENZEL HONZIK Cemetery #63 Two Rivers Reporter (edited) Aug. 11, 1937 Former Gibson Farmer Dies at Manitowoc Today MANITOWOC (Special)- A stroke of apoplexy caused the death early this morning of Wenzel Honzik, Sr. 79, at the home of his son, George, North 15th street, where he had been living since he retired from farming ten years ago. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the homestead farm in the town of Gibson. The Rev. Frank Junek will officiate. Interment will be in the Mishicot cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Specht funeral home until Thursday evening, when it will be taken to the Gibson homestead. Honzik was born in Bohemia on October 10, 1857, and he came to America with his parents when he was eight years old. The family settled on a farm at Centerville and later moved to Kossuth. With his wife, the former Madeline Eckart who died 17 years ago, he established the homestead farm in the town of Gibson. Ten years ago he came to Manitowoc. Survivors are four daughters and three sons: Mrs. John Blaha of Antigo, Mrs. Emil Kloida of Manitowoc, Mrs. William Chaloupka of Mishicot, Mrs. Frank Kunz of Gibson, Anton and Wenzel on the home farm and George of this city. (His wife Madeline is buried in Tisch Mills Cemetery #66)

CONRAD HOPF cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 21 Nov. 1895: Suicide by drowning Tues. afternoon of Conrad Hopf. Justice of the Peace Falge conducted a coroner's inquiry with a verdict of suicide. He was only 38 yrs. old, operated a cigar factory and enjoyed the reputation of a successful businessman. In addition, he was known as an excellent musician. He leaves a wife and 4 small children. The funeral took place Tues. afternoon.

She had been quite ill for the past month and in addition to her mother she is survived by a sister and two brothers. The funeral will take place today in the city cemetery.

JOHANNA HOPP cemetery #89A From Der Nord Westen, 21 Mar. 1895: Death of a daughter of Mr. Schröder, who lives between Manitowoc and Two Rivers. She had a blood blister removed by the doctor, but when the swelling returned her father chose to cut it out himself. She died the next day. ********* From Der Nord Westen, 04 Apr. 1895: (The newspaper printed a disclaimer in the cause of death of Mrs. Hopp as a result of Mr. Schröder's home operation. JAMES HARLAN HOPSON cemetery #32 James Harlan Hopson was born at Crivitz, Wisconsin on the 20th of September 1924 to James Herbert and Lena Maud Hopson. He moved to Marinette a few years later, started his schooling at the old Park School, now gone, where he was taught to play an old “E Flat, Upright Alto”. In 1936 the family moved to Indiana Harbor, Indiana, in 1937 they moved to East Chicago, Indiana and again in 1937 they moved to South Chicago, Illinois (by this time Jim had his own French Single Horn) where he attended Bowen High School, was a member of its first band and was a Drum Major. In 1942 with the advent of World War II the family moved to Manitowoc, Wisconsin where James attended Lincoln High School, playing in the band and was Drum Major. In December of 1942 he went into the Marine Corps, having his mother pick up his diploma in 1943 as we were at war and he was training in Calif. Having served in the South Pacific in 1944 and ‘45, his last combat was on Iwo Jima. James was a Marine Bandsman, who in combat was a Litter Bearer from the front line to a battalion aid station where Drs. were. After service he took employment with Montgomery Wards in Two Rivers where he met his wife, getting married on the 25th of March, 1948 to the former Doris M. Schepper. He later worked for Deja and Martin Furniture and Funeral Home he was a Manitowoc County Traffic Officer for 11 years, after which he became a Deputy Federal Marshal until 1983 at which time he retired. James was a member of the old Hamilton Band that later became the City Band of Two Rivers and Drum Majored that Band for several years. He was a 2O-year member of that band and Musicians Local 195. He served as marshal in Milwaukee, Tucson, and Bismarck, North Dakota before retiring after 12 years, making 23 years in Law Enforcement all together. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004 at 10:30 a.m at Knollwood Mausoleum Chapel in Manitowoc. Cotter Funeral Home, DePere is assisting Jim’s family. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Rev. David Arndt officiating, with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. He was born February 8, 1912, in Two Rivers, son of the late Herman and Louise Zimmerman Horn. He attended St. John’s Parochial School and Washington High School. On January 17, 1942, he married Maryon Smongeski in Two Rivers. She preceded him in death April 15, 1989. Richard was very active in the Two Rivers Kiwanis Club, United Way, Committee of Parks & Forests of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the Manitowoc County Red Cross for several years, and a member of the Joseph Mann Library Association. Richard was in the banking business for 51 years, retiring from the Bank of Two Rivers in 1980, as Vice President, but remained as a director for several years. From 1942-1946, he served in the Army Air Corp. He was a member of the American Legion Post #165. His hobbies include coin and stamp collecting. Horneck, 86 of W5645 CTH EH, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, died Saturday afternoon, April 23, 1994 at Calumet Memorial Medical Center, Chilton, where he was admitted earlier in the day. He was born Feb. 16, 1908 in the Town of Rhine, son of the late George and Katherine Zimmermann Horneck. He attended school in the Town of Rhine. He first marriage was to Genieve Wojciechowski. She died in 1966. He then married Leona Bourret. She died in 1974. He then married Helen Van Derven Lasek Williamson on March 12, 1975 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Francis farmed on the family homestead in the Town of Rhine for over 58 years. He was a member of St. Peter's UCC, Kiel. Survivors include his wife, one daughter, four sons, step-children, 35 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, With the Rev. GENEVIEVE (WOJCIECHOWSKI) HORNBECK cemetery #82 Sheboygan Press February 17, 1966 (edited) Mrs. Francis Horneck, 60, a resident of the Town of Rhine (R.1, Elkhart Lake), died late Wednesday afternoon at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness. The former Genevieve Wojciechowski was born on Feb. 17, 1905, in Crivitz, Wis., a daughter of the late Frank and Laura Golla Wojciechowski. The family later moved to Milwaukee where she attended schools. She was married to Mr. Horneck of the Town of Rhine on June 7, 1933. The couple lived in Sheboygan for three years before moving to their present home in the Town of Rhine. Mrs. Horneck was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel. Survivors are her husband; one daughter, four sons, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; three sisters, and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The Rev. Vernon E. Jaberg, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, will officiate. Burial will be in the Kiel Cemetery.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Dennis Broehm will officiate with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Gardens. The former Frieda Widerholdt was born June 17, 1913 at Green Valley, Wis., daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth Ferdig Widerholdt. Frieda grew up in the Newtonburg area and attended First German Evangelical Lutheran Grade School in Manitowoc. On Oct. 26, 1932 she was married to Lester R. Bruss at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newtonburg, the couple made their home in Manitowoc and he preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1968. On March 21, 1975 Frieda was married to Alton Hougen at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc, he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1976. Frieda was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Immanuel’s Ladies Aid and in the past was an active member of the Manitowoc Senior Center. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, one daughter and son-in-law, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Relatives and friends may call at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Memorials would be appreciated for the Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid Society. ELDA HOWELLS cemetery #82 Sad Death Brings Sorrow to Family Relatives and friends were shocked upon learning of the sudden death of Mrs. Thomas J. Howells, which occurred Tuesday at St. Bernard's hospital, Chicago. A message conveying the sad news was received by Mrs. Howell's father, August F. Neumann, on Tuesday afternoon. Death was due to hemorrhages superinduced by childbirth. Elda Howells was born in Kiel July 25, 1887, and graduated from the Kiel high school, class of 1904. She was employed a number of years as stenographer at the office of the Kiel Cheese & Butter Co., after which she went to California, where she was married to Lieut. H. Erwin Wright, who passed away several years ago. January 1, 1924, she was married to Thomas J. Howells at Chicago, where the couple have since made their home. Mrs. Howells was a high type of womanhood and her many virtues were recognized by everyone who knew her. Her death is a sad blow to her husband, parents, brothers and sister. Deceased is survived by her husband, her parents, two brothers, Walter of Milwaukee and Hugo of Kiel, and one sister, Mrs. H. F. Arps of Chilton. The remains will be shipped to Kiel on Thursday, and funeral services will take place at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August F. Neumann. Rev. Wm. Rech will officiate at the home, and the Order of the Eastern Star of Chilton, of which she was a member, will conduct the service at the grave. Interment will be in the Kiel cemetery.

CHARLES HOYER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 06 Apr. 1893: Death on Thurs. last week of Mr. Carl Hoyer, a well-known and prominent resident of our city. He was born 24 Dec. 1828 in Schoenbach, Austria, and thus reached the age of 65 yrs. 3 mos. He came to America in 1850, first to Milwaukee and then in 1865 to Manitowoc where he established a men's clothing business. For several years he operated in partnership with his son Mr. Carl Hoyer, Jr., and last New Year's transferred the entire business to his son and entered private life. Mr. Hoyer always hoped to see his homeland once more, and so early last year undertook a trip to Austria. His health suffered as a result and he returned shortly. Mr. Hoyer suffered from a heart problem, coupled with a nerve illness. He leaves his wife Wilhelmine (nee Lutze) whom he married in 1853, plus 5 grown children. Although Mr. Hoyer's death was not totally unanticipated, his death was felt throughout the entire city. His funeral was Sun. afternoon at the city cemetery, and an extraordinarily large number of mourners were at the service. ********* [cause: heart failure]

Hoyer, and innkeeper Jos. Hoyer. For many years he has run a shoe factory and a meat market at Clarks Mills. He was 44 years old and leaves a widow and six children of which the oldest is 22 and the youngest four.

Kroening on June 21, 1947, in a double ceremony with her sister, Violet and Arnold Francisco. Earl and his wife recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1997. Earl lived in Two Rivers all his life. He worked at Hamilton’s from 1947 to 1988 as a Production Control Material Analyst. He was a member St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, where he also served as an usher, member of the Lutheran Men’s Bowling Association Club, and he also served as secretary and treasurer of the Lutheran Club, past President of Pioneer Boy’s Club, served on the Board of Directors for the Two Rivers Polar Bears. Earl enjoyed golfing at Fairview Country Club for the past 25 years. He also enjoyed working as a ranger at Fox Hills. Earl and his wife enjoyed traveling in the United States and Canada. ANDREA WAAK HUBBARTT cemetery #44 Andrea Denise Waak Hubbartt, age 47, of 3426 S. 10th St., Manitowoc, entered into eternal rest at her home on Tuesday afternoon, June 12, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. Andrea was born on Jan. 27, 1960, in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of Gerald and Germaine Kanter Waak. She attended school in Libertyville, Ill., and Manitowoc. Andrea was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1978. She began her career as the proprietor of Tugboat Annie's, and later worked in various hotels and restaurants in Manitowoc and Naples, Fla. She was eventually forced to retire from Black Wolf Run in Kohler due to medical reasons. Andrea received a life-saving kidney/pancreas transplant on Sept. 19, 1996, at the University of Wisconsin Medical Center in Madison. It gave her an additional 10 years of life to enjoy. Andrea and Brian Hubbartt pledged their vows of commitment to each other in a ceremony on Saturday, June 9, 2007, in the chapel at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. In accordance with Andrea's wishes, a private memorial service for the family will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Manitowoc. Officiating will be the Rev. Steven Solberg. Entombment of her cremains will be in the Harmony Haven Columbarium at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Following the memorial service, the family will celebrate Andrea's life with a reception at the Holiday Inn, 4601 Calumet Ave., Manitowoc, from 3 to 6 p.m. All of Andrea's friends, as well as friends of the Waak and Hubbartt families, are invited to share this special time together. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Andrea's memory to the Dorothy Kanter Diabetes Education and Research Fund, the Audio/Visual Fund at First Lutheran Church, Holy Family Memorial Development Fund or the charity of the donor's choice. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. Andrea wished to extend her deepest appreciation and love to her family and many friends, for their countless prayers and support over the years. She was especially grateful to the family who donated their son's organs, and the dedicated doctors and staff at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Holy Family Memorial Hospital for their tender and loving care. CATHERINE HUBERTY cemetery #83 Mrs. Katherine(sic) Huberty Last Wednesday evening at 10 o’clock, Mrs. Katherine Huberty, wife of the late Nicholas Huberty, passed away at the St. Agnes Hospital at Fond du Lac, after an illness of several months duration. The deceased, nee Katherine Ehlenbeck, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Ehlenbeck. She was born at St. Anna March 18, 1877. On November 11, 1896 she was united in marriage with Nicholas Huberty, also of St. Anna, and for ten years following their marriage they resided at Wisconsin Rapids. For the past 27 years the family has resided here, Mr. Huberty passing away in November 1916. Following are the survivors: Seven children, namely; Mrs. Joseph (Clementine) Hanert of Milwaukee, Mrs. William (Salvina) Chambers of Red Wing, Minnesota, Mrs. E. H. (Josephine) Loehr of Chilton, and Hugo, Albert, Leon, and Lloyd, all of this city; her aged mother, Mrs. John Ehlenbeck; four sisters, Mrs. Joseph Possley of North Fond du Lac, Mrs. William Wiskerchen and Mrs. Herbert Klug of Random Lake, and Mrs. Fred Dankert of Fond du Lac; two brothers, William Ehlenbeck of Milwaukee and Jacob Ehlenbeck of St. Anna; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Saturday morning at 9 o’clock from the family residence, and at 9:30 a.m. services were held at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church, with the Rev. J. J. Esdepsky officiating. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Huberty was a member of the Woman’s Catholic Order of Foresters and the Christian Mothers’ Society, which organizations attended the funeral services in a body. - 1935

ALICE E. HUDON HUDON Mrs. Alice E. Hudon, 79, of 1822 Clairmont St., Manitowoc, died Monday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wed. at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Hudon, nee Alice E. Pilger, was born March 24, 1895, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Anton and Eleanor Husse Pilger. She was married to Joseph A. Hudon January 24, 1916, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death May 23, 1967. She was a charter member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and a member and past treasurer of Holy Innocents Alter Society. She was also a member of the Manitowoc Senior Citizens and Otto-Oas VFW Auxilliary Post #659 of Manitowoc. Survivors include a son, Edward, and daughter-in-law, Arpa, of Manitowoc; a brother, Charles W., of Manitowoc; five sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Eleanor) Paulson and Mrs. Arthur (Mae) Mueller, of Manitowoc, Mrs. L. E. (Rose) Warren and Mrs. Ben (Margaret) Kowalski of California and Mrs. Frank (Blanche) Benesh of Arizona; a grandson and a granddaughter. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. CALLA HUEBNER cemetery #89A From Der Nord Westen, 29 June 1905: (From the correspondent in Two Rivers, 26 June) Held Sat. was the funeral of the 13-yr. old daughter of Town Manitowoc resident Wilhelm Huebner, who had died on Thurs. from terror. The child was playing in the garden of the old residence in her bare feet and stepped off the path onto a snake. The snake was of a harmless variety, but the child reacted so violently that she fell into convulsions and died in the presence of the doctor who was called.

HAROLD (PAT) HUINKER cemetery #7 Harold (Pat) Huinker, age 72, formerly of Cato, died Monday afternoon, October 14, 1991 at the Manitowoc Health Care Center. Private family funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Saur Funeral Home. Deacon William Klein will officiate with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery, Whitelaw. Mr. Huinker was born December 22, 1918 in the town of Cato, son of the late Alois and Anna Einck Huinker. He attended St. Michael's Grade School in Whitelaw. VACLAV HULETZ cemetery #66 From Der Nord Westen, 24 May 1900: Farmer Wenzel Hulit, who resides near Tisch Mills, visited Two Rivers Sat., and on the way home, as he was approaching the Two Rivers Cemetery, he fell from his wagon and suffered fatal injuries. The horse waited alongside the unconscious man. When he was eventually found he was taken to the residence of a Two Rivers relative, Wenzel Schedivy, where he died without regaining consciousness.

JUNIATA E. HUPPERT cemetery #44 Mrs. Leland (Juniata E.) Huppert, 92, of Manitowoc, died Tuesday, March 16, at her residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. David Passet will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Huppert, nee Juniata E. Buerstatte, was born Nov. 17, 1889, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Frederick and Augusta Gennrich Buerstatte. She attended schools in Manitowoc and later attended Milwaukee School of Teachers. She taught one year at Waupaca and nine years at Cleveland School, Manitowoc, and was acting principal for a number of years. She was married to Leland Huppert Sept. 29, 1919, at Milwaukee. The couple moved to Manitowoc following their marriage, purchasing Manitowoc Ford Agency which Mr. Huppert operated until 1935. He preceded her in death in 1970. Mrs. Huppert was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, a former member of the choir and various other church organizations. Survivors include a sister-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters. JOHN HUSS cemetery #67 From Der Nord Westen, 21 Oct. 1897: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 19 Oct.) Johann Hus died last Fri. morning of kidney disease. He was born 10 Nov. 1827 near the city of Hof in Bavaria, and came to America with his parents and sisters in 1852 when they settled in Saxenburg. His wife died 10 yrs. ago. He leaves a daughter and 2 sons, all married. Burial was last Sun. afternoon in the Saxenburg Cemetery.

Huwatschek, 76, of 330 Roger St., Port Washington, died Sunday at St. Alphonsus Hospital, after a heart attack. He was born Nov. 6, 1904, in Manitowoc, a son of Dr. George H. and Louise Mueller Huwatschek. On June 25, 1938, he and Hope A. Smith were married in Port Washington. He was a graduate of Loyola University's Chicago School of Dentistry and began his dental practice in Port Washington in June 1927. He retired in 1979. Dr. Huwatschek was a charter member of the Port Washington Kiwanis Club, a life member of the American Dental Association, former trustee of the Wisconsin Dental Association and a past president of the Washington-Ozaukee Dental Society. He was past master and 50 year member of Ozaukee Lodge No. 17, F&AM; was a member of the Washington-Ozaukee Scottish Rite, the Scottish Rites Bodies, AASR, the National Sojourners and the Heroes of '76. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, two sons, and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Masonic Temple in Port Washington, with the Rev. James Liebnow and Ozaukee Lodge No. 17, F&AM officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Friends may call at the Masonic Temple after 4 p.m. Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established in Dr. Huwatschek's name for Ozaukee Lodge No. 17, F&AM. Poole Funeral Home, Port Washington, is handling arrangements.
