              Odds and Ends about the Town of Two Rivers

*Neshoto has it's own "island", water on both sides
*Slaughter house for the butcher shop was up on top of the hill where 
    first school was
*Tugboat sank in the river, was never removed 
*Blacksmith shop was also in Neshoto on the "island", thats why the dirt 
    is so black
*2nd river blasted in because of competition for water power
*Oldest cemetery in the township is by the Geimer farm
*Planked road ran along the river. Evidence of the old road is where E.B. 
    lives.
*1952-River was drained, bulldozer cleaned up stumps and debre
*Meat market that was across from Neshoto House is in Two Rivers
*R.Meissner had first cabinets made by Shoto Fixture
*Silbersacks Tavern had first bar made by Shoto Fixture,1955
*Troop #3 submitted the winning name, Camp Manitou in 1947, M. Miley was 
    troop leader
*Fire station built in 1950, Lawrence Hansen first fire chief, W. Meissner in 1960,D.
 Meissner in 1990, A.Hansen 1997 . Our present fire chief and our first 
    fire
 chief are  father and son. D.Meissner is the son of W. Meissner.
*Fire trucks were kept in Silbersacks garage during the winter until 
    firestation was built 
*Zep Meyer first name was Joe
*Alex Rutz-Eis Farm
*Grinding wheel from the Holly mill-H.Radandt has and is at Pine Crest 
    Historical Village
*Grist mill from Kingsville moved to Shoto in 1884, saloon which became 
    Neshoto House and then Shoto Gardens moved shortly after 1884
*Post Office was in Shoto Hotel in 1901-1902 August Gehling was Post 
    Master, he also ran the saloon
*William Mueller planted the apple trees by Litersky's

*Sluice- artificial passageway for water, such as a mill stream fitted 
    with a valve
 or gate for stopping or regulating water flow.
*Beer in wooden kegs was delivered from Two Rivers by rowboat once a week.
*Log cabin that became the hall for Shoto Island Buffet was moved around 
    1935.
*When Mrs. George Peterik died, she was laid out in the hall at Shoto 
    Island Buffet. Her brother Charles Jansky was a undertaker, as was her
    nephew. They both showed up to embalm her, and an argument started 
    because they both wanted the job.
*When Grandpa Charles Bolle, from the Town of Kossuth, was about 5 years 
    old, the was another Indian scare. His mother and father bundled the 
    family up and went to the Shoto Mills because they were considered a 
    safe haven for the surrounding communities.
*In 1977, P. Blahnik Walesh was riding in a convertible car pulling the 
    float in the Shoto parade for the Sugar Shack Girls Ball Team. Somehow,
    she fell out of the car and was run over by the "outhouse" float. 
    There was no serious injuries. 
*Butcher shop that was in Shoto was moved to Two Rivers on Hawthorn Avenue.
*The home of John and Lydia Kornely, that was by the Fire Station in Shoto, 
    was moved to Two Rivers, can be seen from Highway VV 
*The Holly House and Volunteer Store, moved to Two Creeks
