A reception followed at the Brickbauer home, where many friends and neighbors came to extend their best wishes to the honored couple. The couple's five children and their families who were present for the occasion were Carl Brickbauer, Cascade; Dr. Arthur J. Brickbauer, Plymouth; Capt. Gustave P. Brickbauer, Santa Fe, N.M.; Mrs. M.M. (Eleonora) Heath, Kalamazoo, Mich.; and Mrs. Arthur H. (Viola) Nenhans of Milwaukee. Another daughter died in infancy. In addition to their children and the nine grandchildren, brothers and sisters and their families were also present at the dinner and reception. They include Dr. and Mrs. G.W. Brickbauer and Marie, New Holstein; Dr. and Mrs. Edward Burkhardt, Menomonee Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Brickbauer, Elkhart Lake; Mrs. Rose Beck, Glenbeulah; Mrs. Bertha Engel, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kreuter, Silver Lake and Wautoma. One brother, John J. Brickbauer of Elkhart Lake, was unable to attend because of ill health. Gustave Brickbauer, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Brickbauer, was born April 1, 1869, in Town Russell, while his wife, Miss Dora Beck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Beck, was born May 9, 1870, in Town Rhine. They were married May 18, 1895, at St. Paul's Evangelical church in Town Russell, and made their home on a farm in that town. Mr. Brickbauer owned and conducted the cheese factory across the road from his farm for 10 years. In 1918, they disposed of their farm to their son, Carl, and moved to Elkhart Lake. In addition to serving as secretary and treasurer for six years of the Elkhart Lake Canning Co., Mr. Brickbauer was vice-president of the National Cheese Producers federation for nine years, and president of the same for 10 years. Mrs. Brickbauer was born in the town of Russell on January 12, 1866, the daughter of Philip and Margaret Conrad. She was united in holy wedlock with John Brickbauer June 16th, 1898. They have been residing at Elkhart Lake for only a few years, previous to that making their home on a farm in the town of Russell. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Anita Adams of Elkhart Lake, Mrs. Reuben (Nelda) Laack of Plymouth, Mrs. Edwin (Eva) Henschel of Kiel; three sons, Oswald of Pomona, California, Elmer of Town Russell, and George Staege of the town of Russell, a son by a former marriage; two brothers, Valentine Conrad of Elkhart Lake, and Philip Conrad of Kiel, and 12 grand- children. One daughter died in infancy, and two brothers and two sisters have preceded her in death. The deceased was a faithful member of the St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church of the town of Russell, and a charter member of the Ladies' Aid Society of that church. Services will be announced later on receiving word from the son in California. Funeral services were conducted this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home of her son, Elmer in the town of Russell, and at 2 o'clock at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church in the town of Russell, with the Rev. Karl Ernst officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Mr. Brickbauer was born in the town of Russell Jan. 13, 1864, the son of George and Eva Brickbauer, and was married to Miss Anna Beck June 11, 1889. The couple made their home on a farm in the town of Rhine until 1904 when Mr. Brickbauer purchased a feed and grain elevator at Elkhart Lake. In 1906 he sold the business to the newly-organized Farmer's Mercantile and Supply Co. and continued as manager of the business until his retirement in 1925. He was a member of the consistory of the Community Evangelical and Reformed church in that village, and for many years served as village trustee and on the school board there. He leaves his wife; two daughters, Mrs. William (Martha) Graf, town of Rhine; and Miss Lydia Brickbauer of Chicago; two brothers, Dr. George Brickbauer, New Holstein and Gustave Brickbauer, Elkhart Lake; two sisters, Mrs. E.W. Burkhardt, Menomonee Falls, and Mrs. Albert Kreuter, Wautoma; and two granchildren. One son died in infancy and another son, Ben, passed away in 1920. Two brothers also preceded him in death.
