He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Bruhn, with whom he had made his home since 1936. Mr. Burgdorf was born at Tonawanda, New York, December 4, 1858. He came to Wisconsin with his parents in 1861, settling on a farm just east of Millhome. He married Miss Hermina Voight of Plymouth in 1885 and the couple made their home in Kiel. Mr. Burgdorf was a carpenter by trade. Mrs. Burgdorf died on May 13, 1936. The survivors include one son, William of this city; one daughter, Mrs. Albert Bruhn; one grandson and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Meiselwitz Funeral home, with the Rev. Ernest Nelson, pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiating. ********** From Calumet county death records: Charles Burgdorf (v.13 p.42) Widower Dec. 4, 1858-Aug. 19, 1951 Son of Charles Burgdorf with mother unknown Born in New York –carpenter, construction Died from “apoplexy –arteriosclerosis and senility” Buried at the Kiel Cemetery ******** Mrs. Burgdorf, Aged 70, Dies Long Illness Claims Local Woman Here on Wednesday On Wednesday morning at 9:05 o'clock, Mrs. Charles Burgdorf, aged 70 years, was called to her reward, at 728 St. Paul street, this city. The deceased had been in ill health for the past several years, and for the last 10 weeks had been bedridden. The deceased, nee Miss Hermina Voigt, was born in Stutternheim, Saxon-Veimer, Germany on February 23, 1866, the daughter of the late William and Fredericka Voigt. At the age of 8 years she came to Wisconsin with her parents and her only brother Carl, and the family located in Johnsonville. After several years they moved to the town of Rhine. On December 15, 1885 she was married to Charles Burgdorf, and the couple immediately took up their residence in this city, where the family has since resided. Surviving Mrs. Burgdorf are her husband, one son William, and one daughter, Mrs. Albert (Linda) Bruhn of this city; a grandson, Ronald, and a brother, Carl Voigt of here. Last December the couple had the honor of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon from the family residence at 2 o'clock. Burial will take place in the Kiel cemetery. The Rev. E. H. Delware, pastor of the First Presbyterian church will officiate.
