He had been ill for about two years with asthma and lung trouble. Mr. Drews was born in New Holstein, Aug. 16, 1872, where he grew to manhood, and learned the blacksmith trade. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Radder on Nov. 5th, 1895, and the couple came to Hinzeville, where Mr. Drews owned a b1acksmith shop. Several years later he sold the shop and moved to Steinthal with his family, where he was engaged in the same business. Fifteen years ago he disposed of his shop and went to live on the Rud. Hungsberg farm, where he died. Three children were born to the couple, of whom one son died in infancy. He leaves his widow, one son Hugo and a daughter Leona at home; also two brothers and five sisters. The funeral was held last Wednesday afternoon with services at the Reformed church in Schleswig, Rev. Friedrichsmeier, in charge. The remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. (no newspaper name, Oct. 1925) ************ Mrs. August Drews Buried In Kiel Cemetery Monday Mrs. August Drews, aged 73, passed away at the St. Agnes hospital in Fond du Lac on Friday, after undergoing a goitre operation a week ago. Mrs. Drews, nee Elizabeth Radder, was born in the town of Schleswig November 3, 1873. On November 5, 1895 she was married to August Drews. One year after their marriage was spent in Kiel; 15 years he operated a blacksmith shop in Steinthal, and later purchased a farm in the town of Schleswig, where Mrs. Drews has since resided. Her husband preceded her in death September 20, 1925. Survivors are a son Hugo and a daughter Lorinne, both of the town of Schleswig; two sisters, Mrs. William Dedering of this city and Mrs. Otto Hansen of Fond du Lac. One child has preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday from the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and burial was made in the local cemetery. The following from away attended the last rites: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schmeisser, Mr. and Mrs. John Drews, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Kuehl and son, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Schaar and Mr. and Mrs. William Schnell of New Holstein; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schnell and Mr. and Mrs. William Ott of Pigeon Lake; Mrs. Otto Hansen and Miss Ann Ferris of Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Schoen, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Schmeisser, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Schoen and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Popp of Chilton, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Pingel of Hayton. Pallbearers were Melvin Schoen, Herman Schmeisser, Hilton Kuehl, Arno Dedering, Armin Dedering, and Otto Radder. (No newspaper named, 1942 handwritten on the obituary)
