GUSTAVE DUECKER CLAIMED BY DEATH WHILE ASLEEP
Death claimed Gustave Duecker, aged 88, a pioneer of this city almost his entire 
life, while he was asleep early Friday morning at the home of his son, Hubert C. 
Duecker.  
The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Duecker, pioneer Calumet county 
residents. He was born Feb. 24, 1860, on the Duecker homestead farm in the town 
of New Holstein.
June 5, 1889, he was married to Anna Griebenow, and then entered the hardware 
business in partnership with his brother, John M. Duecker here. The brothers 
operated the store here for many years.
Mr. Duëcker was a member of the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church, and 
was active in civic affairs for many years. He at one time served as president 
of the village of Kiel.
Survivors are two sons, Werner of Pelham, N. Y., and Hubert C., of this city, 
and two grandsons, John of Pelbam and Daniel of this city. His wife preceded him 
in death Jan. 23, 1946; one daughter died in infancy, and six brothers also have
passed away.
Funeral services were held this Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Meiselwitz 
Funeral home, with Rev. E. L. Worthman officiating.
Burial was made in the Kiel cemetery. (no newspaper named, 1948)

Mrs. G. Duecker Succumbs Here; Burial Saturday
Mrs. Gustave Duecker, nee Anna Griebenow, passed away this Wednesday
morning at her home on Sixth street. Funeral services will take place
on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home,
with the Rev. E.L. Worthman officiating. Burial will be made in the
Kiel cemetery.
The deceased, the daughter of the late Frederick and Wilhelmina 
Reseburg-Griebenow, was born December 31, 1866, in Germany. She came
to America with her parents in 1868. A few of her childhood years were
spent in Milwaukee, after which the family moved to Kiel, and where 
she has since resided. On June 5, 1889 she was united in marriage with
Gustave Duecker, whom she leaves to mourn her death, with two sons,
Werner of Pelham, New York, and Hubert of this city; two grandsons,one
sister, Mrs. Arthur L. Kaemmer of this city, and two brothers, Fred
Griebenow of California, and William of Rhinelander. One child died in
infancy, and two brothers and five sisters have preceded her in death.
She was a faithful member of the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed
church, and the church Frauenverein. She also was a charter member of
the Kiel Frauenverein.
