Jacob Faust Sr.
Jacob Faust Sr. was born in 1819 in Gernsheim, Hessen, Germany. He was the son of Franz Faust and Katherine Hallinger. Jacob Immigrated to Wisconsin in 1854, arriving in Sheboygan and bought 80 acres in Schleswig Township, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. In 1855 he married Barbara Brown, who died shortly thereafter. In 1861, Jacob married Concessa Becker. Together the couple had eight children together: Jacob Jr., who married Anna Krippes, Gertrude who married Herman Schoon, Adam who married Christina Wolf, Philip who married Gertrude Vosen, Ernest who married Margaretha Roeder, Anna who died at the age of 4, Agnes who died at age 19, and Alois who married Mary Lauer. Jacob died of a ruptured hernia caused from building his farmhouse, and was buried in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Kiel, Wisconsin. Concessa lived on the homestead farm in Schleswig with her son Jacob until her death in 1920. He is buried in #83 (d. 1877). The baby being held is Gertrude Faust (b. 1866). The following contributed by the Faust researcher:
Margaretha Roeder was married to Ernest Faust, who is a brother to Jacob Faust,
and Adam Faust, and a son of Jacob Faust Sr. All of these people are in the
Glass Negative Collection. After marrying Ernest Faust, the couple lived in
Milwaukee, where Ernest was a police officer. Around 1899, the couple moved to
Mankato, Minnesota, where Ernest also worked as a police officer. Here they
adopted two children, Engelbert and Laura Faust. Around 1910, the family again
moved to Seattle, Washington where Ernest Continued to work as a police officer.
Margaretha died in 1918 during the Influenza epidemic, and Ernest died in 1923
from a gas leak in his home.

DEATH OF ERNST FAUST
Jacob Faust, who's brother Ernst recently died at his home in Seattle, Wash.,
handed the record a newspaper clipping of the mans death. Mr. Faust was found
dead by a woman who lives next door to his home. He was lying on the floor,
and his daughter Laura, 18 years old, was unconscious on the bed above him.
Two gas heaters were burning in the house, which was tightly closed. The rooms
were filled with gas fumes, which caused the death of Mr. Faust. The daughter
was taken to the hospital; after she recovered she stated that she fainted
after finding her father dead, and knew no more until she was revived at the
hospital.
Mr. Faust was 52 years old and a member of the Seattle police department for
12 years. His wife died three years ago. He lived in Milwaukee and in Minnesota
before locating in the west. Besides his brother, Jacob Faust of the town of
Schleswig, he leaves the following relatives in this vicinity: Anton Roeder of
St. Anna, brother-in-law, and Mrs. Jos. Dickrell of St. Anna, Mrs. Geo. Hoefler
of the town of New Holstein, and Mrs. Lizzie Mirsberger of Elkhart Lake,
sister-in-laws.
