Charles Fitzgerald, brother of Agnes Fitzgerald
Charles Fitzgerald died on Jan. 7th at St. Joseph's hospital in
Milwaukee, following an operation for obstruction ofthe bowels, aged
67 years. The death of Mr. Fitzgerald is deeply regretted by many residents
of this county, especially in the town of Stockbridge where he spent his
boyhood days.
He was a son of the late Michael Fitzgerald, one of the pioneers
of that town, who for years resided on a farm north of the village on the
Military Road. At an early age he removed to Milwaukee where he took
up the study of architecture and for many years was one of
Milwaukee's prominent architects, drawing plans for many building in
that city and elsewhere. Mr. Fitzgerald although possessed of great ability
In his line of work was very modest in his claims, but many of the artistic
homes of Milwaukee are evidence that he was an architect of no small ability.
He was retiring by nature but those who knew him best appreciated his
generous, companionable disposition, and his cheery smile and greeting
will be sadly missed both from the family circle and also by friends.
His remains were brought to this city Friday evening and conveyed to
his boyhood home at Stockbridge the funeral taking place on Saturday
morning from St. Mary s Catholic church, with burial in the family lot is
St. Mary's cemetery. He is survived by one brother, John Fitzgerald of
Oconto Falls and five sisters, Mrs. B. McHolland, Mrs. Jas, Maloy and
Miss Kate Fitzgerald of Stockbridge, Mrs. J. M. Clark and Miss Agnes
Fitzgerald of Milwaukee, all of whom were in attendance at the funeral.
