George Happel, aged 79, well-known resident of the town of Rhine,
passed away at the homestead farm, a mile south of Millhome on
Sunday evening at 11 p.m. after an illness of several years.
The deceased was born in Hessendarmsdorf, Germany on December
20, 1856, and in 1865, came to America with his parents, who
located on the present farm home, where the deceased has spent
his entire life. He was married to Miss Lizetta Mueller of the
town of Rhine on July 12, 1882, just 53 years, to the day, 
before his death.
He is survived by his widow and three sons, Dr. Edwin Happel of 
Luxemburg, Jacob on the homestead farm, and john of this city; 
also one grandson. Funeral services were held this Wednesday
afternoon from the Meiselwitz Funeral Home at 2 o'clock with
burial in the local cemetery. The Rev. E.L. Worthman was in
charge of the funeral services.

George Happel, 79, farmer, died at his home, one mile south of Millhome, 
at 11 o'clock Sunday night. He had been ailing for several years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the 
C.J. Meiselwitz funeral home. Burial will be made in the Kiel cemetery.
Mr. Happel was born in Germany December 20, 1856. He came to this country 
with his parents in 1865 and settled on the farm on which he died. On 
July 12, 1883 he was married to Miss Lizzetta Mueller, town of Rhine.
Survivors include the widow, three sons, Jacob at home, John of Kiel 
and Edwin of Luxemburg and one grandson.

Mrs. Lizetta Happel, aged 84, widow of the late George Happel, 
passed away Friday morning on the homestead farm in the town 
of Rhine after a long illness.
The deceased was born the daughter of John E. and Sabina Mueller 
on March 12, 1861. On July 12, 1882 she was married to George 
Happel, and since that time has made her home in the town of Rhine 
on the homestead farm. Her husband preceded her in death July 12, 
1936, and a son, Dr. E. P. Happel, died September 1, 1944.
Survivors are two sons, Jacob on the homestead farm, and John of 
this city; two brothers, George Mueller of Rock Island, Illinois, 
and Edwin Mueller of Manitowoc, and one grandchild, Emery Happel 
of Luxemburg.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at 
the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and burial was made in the family lot 
in the Kiel cemetery. The Rev. E. L. Worthman officiated.
Mrs. Eugene M. Thieleke, soloist rendered the following selections: 
"The King of Love My Shepherd Is," "Across the Border Land," and 
"Who Is There Like Thee." - 1945
