Herman Hartmann was born Dec. 25, 1865 in Wisconsin. He speaks both German 
and English. He owns a 100 acre farm 3.5 miles northeast of Kiel.
Maria Lauer (his wife) was born Nov. 5, 1868 in Wisconsin. She speaks both 
German and English.
They were married Nov. 24, 1891 in St. Anna by Rev. Schiefen. In 1906 they 
had the following 6 children:

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hartmann were entertained by their children 
and families on Sunday, the occasion being their golden wedding
anniversay, which actual date occured on November 24.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Hartmann and family of
New Holstein; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Held and family and Mr. and Mrs.
Roman Hahn and family of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hartmann,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klaeser and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin
Schneider and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hartmann of this
city, and Father Frederick S.D.S. of St. Nazianz.
Mr. and Mrs. Hartmann have seven children and 26 grandchildren, 
and all were present except 3 granddaughters, who are Nuns at
various convents.
The honored couple was married at St. Anna on November 24, 1891,
and after living near New Holstein for about a year, moved to 
their farm near Kiel, where Mrs. Hartmann is still residing with
her son Ray. Mrs. Hartmann is still enjoying good health, while
her husband has been an invalid for a number of years.

Herman Hartmann Is Laid to Rest In Catholic Cemetery
Herman Hartmann, aged 77, a resident of the town of Schleswig most
of his life, died last Wednesday after a lingering illness.
The deceased was born in the town of Schleswig on December 15, 1864,
and on November 24, 1891 he was united in marriage with Miss Marie
Lauras of the town of New Holstein. For one year after their marriage
the couple lived in New Holstein and then purchased a farm in the
town of Schleswig which they operated since.
Survivors are the widow, four daughters, Mrs. Frank Held and Mrs.
Romie Hahn of Milwaukee, Mrs. Fred Klaeser and Mrs. Edwin Schneider
of this city; three sons, Raymond at home, Edward of New Holstein,
and Charles of this city; one sister, Mrs. Susanna Anhalt of here;
two brothers, William of Sheboygan and Anton of Oshkosh and 27
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 8 o'clock from the
C.J. Meiselwitz Funeral Home and at 9:30 o'clock services were
conducted at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church. Interment was
made in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Henry Spettel, John Johst, Nic. Klauck, John
Harbach, Adam Sandal, and Mich. Weber.

Held and Mrs. Romulus Hahn of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. John Hartmann,

Chilton; Anton Hartmann of Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Laures,
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Raasch and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. R. Hartmann of New
Holstein; Herman Dorn of Mt. Calvary; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kohlmann
of St. Cloud; Theodore Hartmann and family of Stockbridge; Mr. and
Mrs. Philip Hartmann and Mrs. Mary Lax and daughter Deloris of
Manitowoc; Mrs. Ed. Haeffler, Mrs. Mich. Dorn and Mr. and Mrs. 
Joseph Williams of St. Anna; Mrs. Mary Kohlman of Fond du Lac, and
many relatives and friends from Kiel and vicinity.

Joseph Hartmann Buried On Thursday
Joseph Hartmann, aged 75, resident of the town of Rhine, passed
away at the family home at 11:20 Monday night following a week's
illness.
The deceased was born April 18, 1866, in the town of Rhine, the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Hartmann. On November 12, 1910 he was
married to Elizabeth Mueller. The past 30 years have been spent
in residence at the present farm home. Before that time the couple
resided on the Hartmann homestead.
Mr. Hartmann is survived by his widow and brother, Robert of the
town of Rhine.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 o'clock Thursday after-
noon at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Thomas
officiating. Burial will be made in the Elkhart Lake cemetery.

Mrs. Hartmann Buried Tuesday
Mrs. Elizabeth Hartmann, aged 54, widow of the late Joseph Hartmann
of the town of Rhine, passed away at the St. Nicholas hospital in
Sheboygan Saturday morning, following a month's illness.
The deceased was born in Austria-Hungary on September 16, 1878 as
Elizabeth Mueller; she came to Wisconsin in 1910 and was married
that November. The couple located on a farm in the town of Rhine,
and resided there until Mr. Hartmann's death on February 16, 1942,
after which she sold her farm last fall and moved to the Anna M.
Reiss Home in Sheboygan, where she had spent the last three months.
Surviving is a brother, Michael Mueller of Madison.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock
at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and at 10 o'clock services were
held at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, with the Rev. F.X.
Kheil officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hartmann Of Town Rhine Is Called To Rest.  Kiel. -Mrs. Elzabeth  
Hartmann, 54, widow of the late Joseph Hartmann of Town Rhine, passed  
away in St. Nicholas hospital in Sheboygan Saturday forenoon  
following a month's illness.  Born in Austria-Hungary on Sept. 16,  
1878 as Elizabeth Mueller, she came to Wisconsin in 1910 and was  
married that November.  The couple located on a Town Rhine farm and  
resided there until Mr. Hartmann's death on Feb. 16, 1942, after  
which Mrs. Hartmann sold the farm last fall and moved to the Anna M.  
Reiss home in Sheboygan were she had been the past three months.   
Surviving is a brother, Michael Mueller, of Madison.  There were no  
children.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 at  
the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel and at 10 o'clock at the SS.  
Peter and Paul Catholic church, where the Rev. Father F.X. Kheil will  
officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Hold Final Rites For Mrs. Hartmann.  Kiel. -Funeral services for Mrs.  
Elizabeth Hartmann, 64, who died last Saturday at St. Nicholas  
hospital, Sheboygan were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock in the  
Meiselwitz Funeral home,  10 o'clock with a requiem hjigh mass at St.  
Peter and paul church, the Rev. Father Kheil officiating.  Burial was  
in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers were Ernst Derheimer, Erwin  
Voelker, William Diefenthaler, Leroy, Elmer and Arvin Hartmann.  Many  
friends from St. Cloud, Elkhart Lake, and vicinity attended the  
services.
