Mr. Ernst Paulsen was born on April 24, 1865 in the Town of New Holstein,
a son of Mr. and Mrs. August Paulsen. He attended the public school and
acquired a good education, after which he worked for eight years as an
apprentice. Then he devoted himself to the study of the law and graduated
from the Advocates school in Madison, after which in the year 1898 he
practiced as a lawyer in Chilton. For three years he was District Attorney
and over eight years as Judge in Calumet County. The people who have
employed him hold him in highest esteem for the quality of his work.
In June of 1901 he married Miss Anna Boie from the Town of New Holstein,
which was a very happy marriage even though they remained childless.
Besides his wife, he leaves behind his mother, three sisters and two
brothers, who mourn his untimely death.
His coffin was carried to Chilton on the Tuesday morning train and
brought to his home. On Wednesday the burial took place at the cemetery
in New Holstein, where his father is laid to rest, with numerous mourners
in attendance. Pastor Schildknecht read the burial service.

Mrs. Ernest Paulsen, 87, a resident of Chilton for many years and 
a patient at a Manitowoc hospital for the past 35 years, died at 
the hospital Friday noon. 
Nee Anna D. Boie, Mrs. Paulsen was born in New Holstein in 1868, 
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Boie. She was married to 
Mr. Paulsen who taught in Calumet County schools, then served as 
Calumet County judge in 1914. Mrs. Paulsen leaves one sister, Mrs. 
Albert Arps, of Denver, Colo. Four sisters and five brothers 
preceded her in death. Funeral services were to be held at the 
Pfeffer Funeral Home in Chilton with the Rev. Orval Egbert, pastor 
of Ebenezer Evangelical and Reformed Church, officiating.
