From Calumet county marriage records: John Philipp Rueckenick and Emilie Albers (v.3 p.62) June 24, 1888 at Reformed Church, Chilton John Philipp Rueckenick Son of John Philipp and Katharina Ruckenick Born Hessen Darmstaad, Germany –butcher in Chicago, Illinois Emilie Albers Daughter of John and Anna Albers Born Town New Holstein ******** Anna Albers --- Calumet County Reporter --- November 1910 Mrs. Anna Albers passed away last Thursday evening, November 24th, at 9:30 o’clock, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. P. Rueckrich of this city, aged nearly 83 years, her death being due to the infirmities of old age. Mrs. Anna Albers, nee Wiggers, was born at Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, on Dec. 27, 1827. She was married to John Albers in 1845 and in 1847 came to America, settling on land which is now New Holstein, Calumet County, being one of the very first families to locate their and naming the place after the country of their birth. Here the family remained until 1893, after the death of Mr. Albers, when the deceased went to live with her daughter, Mrs. J. P. Rueckrich, first at Allenton and later here. Seven children mourn her death namely:-- Mrs. Katherine Wick of Vincennes, Ind., (the first white child born at New Holstein;) John Albers of Antigo; Mrs. Anna Schroeder of Oshkosh; Dr. Hy Albers of Thiensville; W. W. Albers of Wausau; Mrs. Emilie Rueckrich of West Bend and Dr. Herman H. Albers of Allenton. Besides these she leaves fifteen grandchildren, one brother and one sister. The remains were taken to Milwaukee Monday morning and laid to rest on Forest Home cemetery, Rev. C. Ruppert, of the Sef. Church of this city, officiated at the last sad rites. The deceased was a noble woman. Coming to Wisconsin over sixty years ago, when all was wilderness, she was a guiding star and great help to the man to whom she had been joined in marriage. She reared a nice family of children, everyone of whom is highly respected and honored in their respective home circles. -- West Bend News.
