PHILIP STAATS DEAD
Prominent Menasha Man Expires in Colorado
Menasha, Wis, Nov 26 A telegram from Grand Junction, Colo.,
to relatives in this city received yesterday morning stated that Philip Staats,
a prominent merchant of this city, died there Saturday night of Catarrah
of the stomach. Mr. Staats had been a sufferer from the
disease for the past two years and about six weeks ago decided to go
to Colorado for a time hoping to benefit his health. There was however no
improvement and he failed rapidly until the end.
Phillip Staats was born March 31, 1881 at South Germantown this state,
coming to Menasha in 1889. About eight years ago he started a grocery
store at Tayco Street. Mr. Staats was well liked and respected and his
death comes as a shock to his many friends in this city.
He is survived by a wife and one daughter, Alma Staats of this city.
The funeral arrangements have not been made yet.
