Nic Stemper family

Nicholas Stemper, 87, resident of St. Ann and New Holstein 
for many years, died at 4 p.m. Monday at the residence of 
his son, Guido, 1786th Street, after two months illness.
Mr. Stemper, who was born at Lake Church, Ozaukee county, 
had resided near St. Ann until twenty years ago. He lived 
in New Holstein for fifteen years and at the home of his 
son Guido, for the last five years.
Mrs. Stemper died three years ago. Surviving are ten children, 
Mrs. William Miller, Portland Oregon, Mrs. J.J. Zender, St. 
James, Minn., Mrs. Josephine Gerhartz, Charlesburg, Mrs. 
Emil Voelker, Green Bay, Mrs. J.H. Fries of Milwaukee, Edward 
of Palmer, Idaho, Henry and John of St. Ann, Nicholas of St. 
James, Minn. and Joseph of New Holstein.
The funeral will be held at 8:45 a.m. Thursday from Hardgrove 
and Gordon funeral home and at 10 a.m. from St. Ann's church,
St. Anna.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Nicholas Stemper passed away at the home of her son at 
Fond du Lac. Mrs. Stemper nee Louise Marshal, was born June 
15, 1848 in Belgium, Germany. In the year 1869 she married 
to Nicholas Stemper.
She died in February 1934 and her body was removed to the
home of her son Henry at St. Anna and the funeral services
were held at St. Anna Catholic Church. Rev. J.H. Schmitt
officiated and burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Nicholas J. Stemper, 85, of 211 Wisconsin Ave., New Holstein, died at home
of a long illness at 8:45 a.m. today.
His wife had preceded him in death the past Dec. 17.
A native of Port Washington, Mr. Stemper was born May 15, 1874, a son of 
of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Stemper.
He farmed all of his adult life in the Town of New Holstein until retiring
and moving into the city.
His wife was the former Ottilia Pfrang, whom he married April 16, 1901.
He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Holy Rosary Catholic Parish in
New Holstein.
Surviving are three sons, Alvin of Newton, Raymond of Elkhart Lake, and Edward
of New Holstein; five daughters, Mrs. Olive Huebschmann of Random Lke, Mrs.
Joseph Grasser (Lucille) of New Holstein, Mrs. Peter Pierre (Julia) of Techney,
Ill., Mrs. Otto Herdrich (Agnes) of Evanston, Ill., and Mrs. Lawrence Noesen
(Florence) of Skokie, Ill., 37 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He also leaves a brother, John, of Kiel; and two sisters, Mrs. Edwina Haas of
St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Albert Kohler of Barton.
A daughter and son preceded him in death.
The reqiem(sic) Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Church, New 
Holstein, with the Rev. Lambert Scanlan, pastor, celebrant. Mass will follow
9:30 family rites at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral Home there. Burial will be
in St. Ann's Cemetery, St. Anna.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Sunday. A vigil will be
held there at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Theresa Stier is the mother of Helmuth in the following obituary.
Helmuth H. Stier
Helmuth H. Stier, 81, of R.1, New Holstein, died Thursday night at
Calumet Memorial Hospital at Chilton where he had been a patient for
two weeks.
He was born Aug. 29, 1890, son of the late Karl and Theresa Eichmeier
Stier, in New Holstein. He attended district schools.
On Nov. 20, 1912 he married Paulina Ramminger at New Holstein. The
couple farmed in the Town of New Holstein and later Mr. Stier was 
employed by the A.A. Laun Furniture Co. at Kiel and Thielmann Sausage
Co. at Elkhart Lake.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, a sister, Mrs. Hattie Kephart of
Riverdale, Ill.; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home,
Kiel. The Rev. Francis R. Kerscher, pastor of Ss. Peter and Paul 
Catholic Church, Kiel, will officiate. Burial will be in the parish
cemetery.
