Mrs. Struck, the former Miss Clara Oesau, the daugher of Mr. and Mrs. Claus Oesau, was born at New Holstein August 31, 1870, while Mr. Struck, also of New Holstein was born April 27, 1869, and the couple was married at the Oesau home October 21, 1893, and the first ten years they resided at Kiel, where Mr. Struck was a painter. Later they moved to Elkhart Lake, and for 12 years they resided in which is now the George Fenton place. Mr. Struck conducted a tavern, and then built their present home. For many years Mr. Struck was employed as painter for the Lauer Paint Company in that village, but retired a number of years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Struck had one daughter, Ovella, who did at the age of eight years. Both Mr. and Mrs. Struck are enjoying good health now, although Mrs. Struck fell and broke a hip last February, but is now able to be up and around again and do her own housework. Struck and Ernestine Hanske Born Town of New Holstein –painter Died from “chronic myhocarditis, 20 years” Buried at New Holstein Cemetery ******** August Struck Dies At County Hospital August Struck, 77, resident of Elkhart Lake, died at the Sheboygan County hospital on Monday morning. Burial will take place at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Raeder Funeral home at Elkhart Lake, with the Rev. Paul Olm, pastor of the Community Evangelical and Reformed church officiating. Burial will be made in the New Holstein city cemetery. He was an honorary member of the Elkhart Lake Fire department. Mr. Struck was born April 27, 1869 on a farm near New Holstein. On Oct. 21, 1893 he was married to Miss Clara Oesau. In 1943 the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. For 10 years after their marriage they resided in Kiel, where Mr. Struck followed the occupation of painter. After leaving Kiel he operated a tavern at Elkhart Lake. After selling his tavern to George Fenton, who remodeled the place of business into a barber shop, Mr. Struck was employed by the Lauer Paint Co. Five years ago he retired. Survivors besides his widow, are several nieces and nephews. A daughter Orvella died at the age of 8 years, and 2 brothers and a sister also preceded him in death. (1947 handwritten on obit, no newspaper cited) ********* From Sheboygan county death records: Clara Struck nee Oesau (v.56 p.46) Aug. 31, 1870-Aug. 29, 1948 Wife of August Struck Daughter of Clem Oesau and Maria Schoen (both born Germany) Born Town of New Holstein Died from “heart exhaustion, 4 days –acute cardiac failure, 4 days –fractured hip on Aug. 3, 1948 –senile myocarditis, 3 years” Buried at New Holstein Cemetery ********* Mrs. August Struck, aged 78, a resident of Elkhart Lake for many years, passed away at the Plymmouth hospital Sunday evening after having been confined there for several weeks because of a broken hip. The deceased, nee Clara Oesau, was born Aug. 31, 1870, at New Holstein, the daughter of Claus and Marie Oesau. She was married to Mr. Struck in 1892, and the couple made their home at New Holstein, later moving to Kiel, and then to Elkhart Lake. Mr. Struck passed away Feb. 3, 1947. A sister, Miss Gretchen Oesau of Elkhart Lake, and two brothers, Reinhardt of Modesto, Calif., and Claude of Waupun, survive. One daughter, two sisters, and a brother preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted at the Raeder Funeral home at Elkhart Lake on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, and at 2:15 p.m. at the Community Evangelical and Reformed church, with the Rev. Paul A. Ohm officiating. Burial was made in the New Holstein city cemetery. (No newspaper named- 8-29-1948 handwritten on the obituary)
