FRIEDA CONNER Mrs. Frieda Conner Called to Rest at Milwaukee Monday Mrs. Frieda Connor, 62, widow of Thomas Connor and formerly a resident of California, died very suddenly at a Milwaukee hospital at 10 am Monday, having been removed there from her home on 107 North Ave., Monday morning. Mrs. Connor, nee Frieda Wimmler, was born in Town Centerville, Dec. 26, 1871. She was united in marriage to Thomas Connor in February, 1899. The marriage took place in California where the couple made their home until the death of Mr. Connor in 1901. One child also preceded Mrs. Connor in death. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Connor made her home in Milwaukee. The deceased is survived by one brother, William Wimmler, Town of Centerville and two sisters, Mrs. Tillie Gabsch, Cleveland, Wis., and Mrs. Emma Hamman, Town of Mosel. Mrs. Connor had frequently visited in the Town of Centerville and her many friends and acquaintances will grieve when they hear of her sudden death. The remains were taken to the Walter H. Ahrens Funeral Home, Howards Grove and on Wednesday morning will be removed to the home of her brother, William Wimmler, Town of Centerville where friends may view her until the hour of the service which will take place Thursday at 2 o’clock. ERNST DASSLER ERNST DASSLER BURIE The funeral of Mr. Ernst Dassler, one of the first settler of the town of Mosel, was held yesterday afternoon at two o’clock from the late homestead in Centerville. Judge Hubert Falge of Manitowoc officiated and interment was made in the Sachsen cemetery. Mr. Dassler was 75 years of age and was well known in the city and county and also in Manitowoc county. DASSLER, WAR VETERAN PIONEER DEAD Centerville Man Had Resided Here Since Year 1852 Ernst Dassler, civil war veteran and pioneer resident of Manitowoc County died at his home in Centerville yesterday after a lingering illness. Mr. Dassler was 77 years of age and located at Centerville in 1852. He served nearly four years in the civil war being attached to Co. B, Ninth Wisconsin regiment. Four sons and three daughters survive. The funeral will be held at Centerville Monday afternoon and members of Walker Post of this city will attend. Mr. Dassler was born in Saxony in 1852. At the age of 16 he came over to America with his parents, making their home on a farm in our town on what is known as the Union road. He lived on this farm up to the last years when he retired at Centerville. After having been ill several week she passed away last Friday. He leaves his wife and children, Herman, Louis, Frank, Mrs. Gustav Hinz, Mrs. F. Jawort of here, Mrs. Julius Bahr, Kiel, and Oscar at Milwaukee. FRANK DASSLER Frank Dassler, 59, retired Centerville blacksmith, died Monday at the home of his mother, Mrs. Theresa Dassler in the village of Centerville. Mrs. Dassler is to observe her 89th birthday August 25. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 pm from the Dassler home with interment in the Saxon Cemetery. The deceased, who was born in Centerville and always made his home there, suffered a heart attack Monday which caused his death. He had been in failing health, however, for several years. Mr. Dassler took up the blacksmith trade which he followed until 10 years ago when he retired. HERMAN DASSLER CLEVELAND – On June 6th at 4 o’clock a.m., Herman Dassler died of haemophilia and internal hemorrhage at his home in Cleveland. He was in poor health and trouble with rheumatism for many years but his condition became worse a few days before his death. For many years he was employed as undertaker in the furniture and undertaking business of Ad. Stoltenberg; over a year ago he started a tire vulcanizing business for himself. He was a member of the M.W. of A. and secretary of the Cleveland fire department; also correspondent of the Manitowoc Post. He was married twice; from his marriage with his deceased first wife, nee Bahr, there is only one daughter, Mrs. Edna Karstaedt, surviving, his son Victor having died previously. His second wife, Alwine, nee Oemichen, survives him, and also the following children; Gertha, Cora, Melvin and Arthur. He was over 53 years old, being born in the town of Centerville, Feb. 18, 1866. Rev. Kademann of Franklin officiated at the funeral on Monday, which took place at 1:30 o’clock p.m. from the home and the Ref. church at Cleveland to the Saxon cemetery. LORRAINE FIEDLER Lorraine R. Fiedler, 92, of Sheboygan, formerly of Cleveland, passed away Friday, July 10, 2009, at the home of her niece, Carol. Lorraine was born July 30, 1916 in the Tn. of Herman to the late William and Clara (Stoltzman) Schuette. She graduated from Howards Grove High School in 1934. On May 29, 1937, she married Lester Fiedler at Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. Together the couple made their home on the family homestead in Cleveland. He preceded her in death July 16, 1994. Lorraine was active with the Erdman Home Makers, and Christian Women. She is survived by her nieces, Betty (Roger) Bliss, Delores Scheidt, Carol (Donald) Reineking, Kathleen Mullane; her nephews, William Hering, Robert (Carla) Hering, Thomas Hering, and Andrew (Ruth) Hering. She is also survived by many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Geraldine, and her sisters, Elvira Klemme and Florence Hering. CHRISTIAN FISCHER AGED MAN IS VICTIM OF A STROKE TODAY C. Fischer Succumbs to Apoplexy at Home on Thirteenth Christian Fischer, aged 82 years, was found dead in bed at 2 o’clock this morning at his home, 1617 North Thirteenth Street. Death was caused by cerebral apoplexy according to Coroner Van Zanten, who made an investigation. Decedent was a retired farmer and had lived in this county for many years. Old age super-induced the stroke of apoplexy which caused his sudden death. He was born in Germany and came to this country when a young man. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Peter Bartzen, Sheboygan and Mrs. Wolfram, Chicago. ARTHUR GABSCH Arthur Gabsch, 70, of the Town of Centerville, Manitowoc County, died unexpectedly Friday at home following a coronary attack. ROLAND H. GOEKE Roland H. "Rollie" Goeke, age 83, a village of Cleveland resident, went to his eternal home in Heaven, with his family at his side, on Monday, July 28, 2008, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay. He was born on Dec. 28, 1924, in the town of Newton, the son of the late Edwin and Hilda (Stoltenberg) Goeke. He attended La Follette Grade School in the town of Newton. On June 8, 1946, Roland was united in marriage to Idabell Karstaedt at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. The couple resided on the Karstaedt homestead where they farmed until 1982, when they moved to Cleveland. Roland was a member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he enjoyed the fellowship and singing with the choir for 69 years, and also as an elder and treasurer of the church. Roland was also the first president of the Manitowoc County Expo, past president of Manitowoc County Holstein Testing Association, a member of the state and national Holstein Association and Holstein Testing Association, he received the progressive breeders award for four years, was a member of Lake to Lake Dairy and chairman of its resolutions committee for two years, a member of the Meeme Town Board, a member of the Cleveland Coop, Valders Coop, and the Farm Bureau. In 1966, he hosted the annual barn meeting for Manitowoc County, he held many open houses for foreign visitors and bus trips, he sold cattle to Japan and numerous other foreign countries, and he hosted the farm of the week for Manitowoc County. Rollie's other interests included reading, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) JAMES M. HANSEN James M. Hansen, age 50, a former town of Centerville resident, went home to his Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007. He was born on June 12, 1957, the son of the late Merlin and Betty (Jaehnig) Hansen. James was a graduate of North High School, Sheboygan, class of 1975. After graduation, he was employed by Wagner Lumber Company in Heaven. In 1979, he became employed by the Kohler Company, Kohler, where he continued working in different departments to his present job at Kohler Generator. James is a life-long member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cleveland. His hobbies and interests include long bike rides and walks, spending time with his nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He loves to read and spend time playing Scrabble. WARREN LEE HEINZ Warren Lee Heinz passed away peacefully at home June 18, 2015, surrounded by family. He was 77 years old. Warren was born March 24, 1938 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Lorina (nee Lorfeld) and Victor Heinz. Born and raised in rural Wisconsin, Warren received his Bachelor’s in Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. In the early 1960’s he served in the United States Army, which was a life changing experience. After working in the auto industry for 41 years, Warren retired in 2007, creating a new fulfilling life, enjoying family and friends as well as numerous and diverse interests. His love of learning and quest for knowledge were evident in his joy of traveling, fondness for all things German, study of DNA genetics and family ancestry, appreciation of world music genres, expertise in summer gardening, voracious reading and delight in discovering and sharing delicious ethnic specialties. Warren lived a life based on strong convictions and solid values. His guidance, support and kindness will be remembered by all fortunate to have known him. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Joan; his son, Garrett and his brothers-in-law, John (Kathy) Koch, Jeffrey (Connie) Koch and Joseph (Jeanne) Koch. ARNO B. HUHN Arno B. Huhn, 85, a Village of Cleveland resident, died Tuesday, January 22, 1991, at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, where he had been a patient for the past seven days. He was born November 22, 1905, in the Town of Centerville, the son of the late William C. and Minna Fenn Huhn. He attended Pleasent Hill School and graduated from Sheboygan Business College. On July 2, 1927, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Schaetzer and the couple resided on the Huhn family homestead, where they engaged in dairy and potato farming until 1970. Eleanor passed away on April 4, 1983. He was again united in marriage to Viola Thiel Bender on may 26, 1984. The couple resided in the Village of Cleveland. Mr. Huhn was a member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Cleveland. He had served on the church council. He was an active member of the Cleveland Senior Citizens and was also chairman of the Red Cross for the Town of Centerville for many years. Survivors include his wife, Viola; and one son and daughter-in-law, DuWayne (JoAnn) Huhn, of Cleveland; one daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Bonnie (Mark) Fritz; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. William (Rita) Huhn; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three step-daughters, Jean Stoeckigt, of Cleveland; Joyce Haack, of Howards Grove, Kath Fries, of Kiel; one step-son, Randy Bender, of Cleveland; 12 step-granchildren; eight step-greatgrandchildren; four sisters, Gladys Wilke, of Sheboygan; Irene Leonard, of Kiel; Lucille Klemme, of Plymouth; Corrine Seliger, of Sheboygan. RITA A. HUHN Rita A. Huhn, age 76, village of Cleveland resident, went home to her Lord on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006. She was born July 8, 1930 in Lena, the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Petesch Mayer. Rita graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan, class of 1948. On Aug. 4, 1951, she was united in marriage to William H. Huhn and the couple resided in the town of Centerville, where they engaged in farming. Mr. Huhn passed away Feb. 9, 1982. JAEHNIG Pioneer of Town of Meeme Passes Away on Sunday Mrs. Anna Friederica Jaehnig, pioneer native born resident of the Town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, died at 6:45 o’clock Sunday morning at the home of her daughter in the Town of Meeme. She had been ill only since last Monday. The funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from the home and at 1:30 p.m. from the Lutheran church at Cleveland, the Rev. Mr. Sprengling conducting the services. Burial will be at Saxon Cemetery. Deceased was born on a farm near Meeme April 22, 1849. In 1866 she was united in marriage to Ernst Jaehnig. The couple then moved on a farm near Centerville. Mr. Jaehnig died nine years ago, but the widow continued to live on the farm until six years ago, at which time she left the old homestead to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Otto Baars. The survivors are the following named son and three daughters, Herman E. Jaehnig, Town of Centerville, Manitowoc Co., Mrs. Fred Warning of Sheboygan; Mrs. Max Wolters of the Town of Mosel and Mrs. Otto Baars at whose home Mrs. Jaehnig died. ERNST F. JAEHNIG (d. 1919) Cleveland news: Another old veteran of the civil war and a highly esteemed citizen has been called to the great army. Ernst Frederick Jaehnig died on Sunday, March 23, at his home in the town of Centerville at the age of 82 years. He was one of the old settlers and also served three years in the 26th Regiment of Wisconsin Volunteers. He was born in Saxony, Germany, Feb. 21, 1837, and came to America with his parents in 1847, settling down in the town of Centerville. On July 15, 1866, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Katerman. The surviving children are one son and three daughters, namely Herman Ernst on the home farm, Mrs. Fred. Warning of Sheboygan, Mrs. Max Wolter of Mosel and Mrs. Otto Baars of Meeme. The funeral was held last Wednesday, Rev. P. Sprengling officiating; interment in the Saxon cemetery. THERESA A. JAEHNIG Theresa Ann (Hetrick) Jaehnig, age 57 of 14015 South Union Road, Cleveland, died on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. She was born on Jan. 28, 1952, in Milwaukee, daughter of Madeline (Anastasi) Hetrick-Peterson and the late William Hetrick. Theresa was a graduate of Roncalli High School Class of 1970 and the Wisconsin College of Cosmetology, Green Bay, Class of 1971. On Sept. 1, 1973, she married David Arthur Jaehnig at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Theresa was employed at Lords N' Ladies Beauty Salon until her retirement due to illness. She was an avid Packers Fan, loved her cats, her flowers and many trips to Door County. Theresa was an excellent cook and baker. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. CLARA JAWORT Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Jawort, 41, of Sheboygan, who died unexpectedly at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital Tuesday morning, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Robert H. Kroos Funeral Home, Sheboygan. The Rev. Wilford H. Evans officiated and burial was in the family lot in Saxon Cemetery, Manitowoc County. Mrs. Jawort was born Clara Krepsky, Oct. 16, 1912, at Green Bay, the daughter of Albert and Harriet Krepsky. She attended Jefferson School and Central High School in Sheboygan. On August 3, 1932, she was married to Adrian Jawort of Centerville, the couple settling in Sheboygan. She was a member of the First Methodist Church. Survivors include the husband; a son, Wayne, who arrived home from Korea in time for the funeral; a daughter, Sharon; and a brother, Walter Krepsky. ROBERT A. JUSTUS (d. 2000) Robert A. Justus Jr., 17, son of Robert and Connie Justus, 423 Caroline St., Plymouth, died at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Sunday evening, March 5, 2000. He had been a patient there since Feb. 15. Robbie was born July 22, 1982 in Sheboygan. He attended Bethlehem Lutheran School and South High School. His family moved to Plymouth in June 1999. He was a junior at Plymouth High School and was employed at Hardees Restaurant. Robbie was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. In addition to his parents, Robbie is survived by four sisters, Loriann DeBroux of Green Bay, Shantell and Steven Randall, Tanya and Cesar Hernandez and April Justus, all of Sheboygan; nephews and nieces, Bradly DeBroux, Melody DeBroux, Elijah Justus and Walker Randall; step-grandfather, Earl "Ike" Eigenberger of Cleveland, Wis.; godmother, Sandi Soronen of Sheboygan; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Robin; paternal grandparents, Alex and Lorraine Justus and maternal grandparents, Elmer Zill and Lorraine Eigenberger. Robbie enjoyed wrestling, watching the Packers, playing soccer and was proud of his ability to create and work with his hands. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Rev. James L. Hartman, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in the Saxon Cemetery in Cleveland, Wis. A time of visitation and support will be held at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. ROBERT A. JUSTUS, SR. (d. 2001) Robert A. Justus Sr., 49, of Plymouth, Wis„ passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon at Valley View Medical Center following a heart attack . Bob was born April 3, 1952 in Sheboygan to Alex and Lorraine (Schmidt) Justus. He attended Bethlehem Lutheran School, graduating from South High School, Class of 1971. He furthered his education at Lakeshore Technical College and was currently attending Moraine Technical College in Fond du Lac. On July 2, 1976, he married Connie L. Zill of Cleveland, Wis., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Bob was formerly employed at Kettle Lakes Co-Op, Vollrath Co. and The Sheboygan Press until disability forced his retirement. Mr. Justus was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he sang with the Men's Choir and was a member of the Fellowship Club. Bob enjoyed using his CB radio and made many friends over the years and was known by his CB handle "The Judge". In addition to his wife, Connie, Bob is survived by four daughters, LoriAnn DeBroux and her son, Bradly of Green Bay, Shantell and Steve Randall and their children, Melody DeBroux, Walker and Riley Randall, Tanya and Cesar Hernandez and their children, Elijah and Cesar Jr, and April Justus all of Sheboygan; four brothers, Larry (Carol) Justus of Sheboygan, Thomas (Mary) Justus, of Bardstown, Kentucky, Jeffrey (Mary) Justus of Sheboygan and Timothy (Marilyn) Justus of Racine: and other relatives and friends. ARTHUR E. KARSTAEDT (d. 2009) Arthur E. Karstaedt, age 77, resident of Manitowoc, Wis., went home to his Lord on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. He was born Dec. 10, 1931, in the town of Meeme, the son of the late Arthur and Anna Hemb Karstaedt. Arthur was a graduate of Valders High School, Class of 1950. On Sept. 25, 1954, Arthur was united in marriage to Hildemar Konkel at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, Wis. The marriage was blessed with four children. The couple resided in Osman and Arthur was employed by his father on the family farm. In 1956, he went into the U.S. Army and served in Germany until 1958. Upon his return from service, Arthur was employed by Dick Brothers Bakery of Manitowoc and later became a business agent for the Bakers, Confectioners and Tobacco Union. He was a Packers fan and enjoyed collecting coins, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Arthur was a member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, where in the past he had served as church president. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #0088 of Manitowoc. Arthur is survived by his wife: Hildemar (Sis) of Manitowoc; one daughter: Kim Meverden of Two Rivers; one son: Kyle (Gail) Karstaedt of Sheboygan; three grandchildren: Anna (Dan) Pittner of Sheboygan; Matt and Amy Meverden of Two Rivers; three great-grandchildren: Vanessa, Rebecca and Roman Pittner of Sheboygan; one sister: Lenora Eberhardt of Chilton. Preceding him in death are his parents, two children, one sister and two brothers-in-law. HILDEMAR KARSTAEDT Hildemar (Sis) M. Karstaedt, 79, city of Manitowoc resident, went home to her Lord on August 26, 2013 at her residence in Manitowoc. Born May 5, 1934 in Wisconsin Rapids, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Helen Glowienda Konkel. She attended and graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc with the class of 1952. On September 25, 1954, Hildemar was united in marriage to Arthur E. Karstaedt at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, Wis. The couple resided in Osman and the marriage was blessed with four children. Arthur passed away November 27, 2009. Hildemar was employed in the office of Mirro Co., Manitowoc and as a sales clerk for J.C. Penney Co., until she retired. She was a member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. Hildemar loved to read and to travel. Hildemar (Sis) is survived by one daughter, Kim Meverden of Manitowoc; one son, Kyle (Gail) Karstaedt of Sheboygan; three grandchildren, Anna (Dan) Pittner of Sheboygan, Matt Meverden and Amy Meverden, both of Two Rivers; three great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Rebecca and Roman Pittner of Sheboygan; one sister, Jacqueline (Jim) Kopetsky of Manitowoc; two brothers Quentin (Frances) Konkel of Florida, Richard Konkel of Green Bay; as well as several nieces and nephews. ANITA KLESSIG Anita Caroline Marie Klessig, age 95, a Manitowoc resident, died peacefully Monday afternoon, April 11, 2016 at Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc. Anita was born on May 21, 1920 in Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late Charles and Bertha (Hecker) Free. She was a graduate of First German Evangelical Lutheran School on June 12, 1934. On May 31, 1941 she married Roland Klessig in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1987. The couple owned and operated their own farm in the town of Newton for many years. Anita was a member of the White Trail Homemakers, Manitowoc Senior Center and Bethany Lutheran Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening and embroidering. Anita loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Paul & Linda Klessig, Francis Creek; a daughter and son-in-law: Janice & Rick Schultz, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren: Rebecca Klessig, Brian Klessig, Mark (Heidi) Klessig, Michelle (Marty Anderson) Stevens, Kristen (Jacob) Lindemann, Joshua Schultz, Amanda Schultz; and five great grandchildren: Kristal Stueck, Sophie Klessig, Lucy Klessig, Morgan Stevens and Mason Anderson. JOANNE H. KLESSIG Joanne Helen Klessig was called out of this vale of tears to the side of her Lord and Savior shortly after Midnight on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at the age of 68. She had suffered from lymphoma for the last year and a half. Joanne was born on Dec. 23, 1942, to her parents, Walter and Nelda Klessig. She was a twin and was actually once called the "miracle baby" since she was only a bit over two pounds at her birth and had been smallest baby to survive at that hospital in the early 1940's. Her twin sister, however, died shortly after birth. Joanne lived with her parents in Cleveland, Wis., for most of her early life due to her learning disability. She moved to Abrams, Wis., to live with her brother, Pastor Alan Klessig in the Fall of 1983 along with her father. Her mother, Nelda, died in 1974 at the age of 54. While living in Abrams, Joanne worked at New View Industries (a sheltered workshop) in Gillett Wisconsin, until she became ill. She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, where her brother still serves as the Pastor. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; her father, Walter, in 1985; and her Mom, Nelda, in 1974; her twin sister, Jeanne, in 1942, shortly after birth; and a brother who was stillborn. She is survived by her brother, Pastor Alan Klessig as well as many of her cousins and her friends from Calvary Lutheran, the New View Workshop, and the Senior Citizen meal site in Little Suamico where she helped serve dinner every Thursday. Joanne died with her faith and hope in Christ alone! A time of visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5716 Main St., Abrams. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. IONA J. KNICKELBEIN Iona J. Knickelbein, age 64, of 5106 Windward Court, Sheboygan, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at her residence surrounded by her family. Iona was born July 3, 1941, in Milwaukee to the late Stanley and Helen (Letkiewicz) Rossa. She attended Milwaukee-area schools. On Aug. 19, 1961, she married Pierre Knickelbein in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death Sept. 18, 2000. Iona was a member of St. John/St. Peter Lutheran Church in Cleveland. Together with her husband Pierre, the couple owned and operated the Knickelbein Bar in Cleveland from 1973 until 1986. She was also employed by Park & Save, the Cleveland Family Restaurant, and Klemme's in Howards Grove. She loved to fish, and travel with her special friend Eddie. She was a caring loving person who always put her family and others first. Iona is survived by her children: Matthew (Jodi) Knickelbein, Manitowoc; Mark Knickelbein, Delavan; Michael (Kris) Knickelbein, New Holstein; LeeAnn (fiance Steve Linsmeier) Genson, Newton; Lisa (Randall) Glander, Sheboygan Falls; Debbie (Mike) Chizek, Newton; her grandchildren: Eric Genson, Ryan and Colin Knickelbein, Ryan and Rachel Glander, and Cody Chizek. PIERRE O. KNICKELBEIN Pierre O. Knickelbein, age 59, of the town of Centerville, passed away Monday, September 18, 2000, at his home following a lingering illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning, September 21, 2000, at St. John & St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, Cleveland. The Rev. Aaron Schoenike, pastor will officiate and burial will be at Saxon Cemetery, town of Centerville. He was born September 23, 1940, in Milwaukee, son of the late Orville and Doris Knoll Knickelbein. He attended elementary and Riverside Public High School in Milwaukee and attended Concordia College for three years. On August 19, 1961, he was united in marriage to Iona Rossa of Milwaukee. The couple resided in Milwaukee from 1961-1965, where he was a steam fitter. In 1965, they moved to Cedar Grove and in 1971, they bought a tavern in the town of Centerville. He and his wife operated the Knickelbein Tavern until November 1986. Pierre was a member of St. John & St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, Cleveland, the Cleveland Fish & Game Club, and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, cooking and the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time and teaching his grandson, Eric Knickelbein, and he also enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. EMMA KOLB Mrs. Emma Kolb, 92, of Cleveland, died Monday at her home. The former Emma Henriette Vogel was born in the town of Centerville on March 28, 1877 a daughter of the late Richard and Pauline Lutze Vogel. On Nov 21, 1900, she was married to Fred Kolb. The couple resided in Sheboygan for five years prior to moving to the town of Centerville where Mr. Kolb was a blacksmith. He died July 27, 1947. Mrs. Kolb was a member of St. John’s and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Cleveland, and the Ladies Aid Society of the church. Survivors include one son, Clarence Kolb, with whom she had made her residence; one granddaughter and one great granddaughter and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Sommer of the town of Mosel and Mfrs. ADELINE L. KONIK Adeline L. Konik, 81, former Town of Centerville resident, died Friday December 29, 1989, at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home, where she had been resident for the past 2 years. She was born October 31, 1908, daughter of the late Edwin and Frieda (Schulte) Awe. On June 26, 1930 she was united in marriage to Steve Konik, the couple resided in Northern Wisconsin until 1942, when they moved to the Cleveland area. For many years she worked in the Brass Department of the Kohler Co., retiring in 1963. Her husband preceded her in death in 1978. She was a member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cleveland and of its Ladies Aid Society. She is survived by five sons, Dennis (Mary Jean) Konik, of Newton, WI; Steven E. (Betty) Konik, of Phoenix, Arizona; Robert (Jane) Konik, of Fond du Lac; Jerome (Judy) and John (Bonnie) Konik, both of Sheboygan. FLORENCE L. KRACHT Florence L. Kracht, age 83, Town of Centerville resident, went home to her Lord on Oct. 1, 2009, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. She was born May 7, 1927, the daughter of the late Adolph and Hilda Koellmer Heinmann. Florence was a graduate of Waldo High School. On July 1, 1950, she was united in marriage to Palmer H. Kracht at Haven, Wis., and the couple resided in Haven until 1957, when they moved to Town of Centerville, where they engaged in dairy farming. The marriage was blessed with three children. Florence was a member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, the church Ladies Aid Society, Manitowoc County Farm Bureau, Meeme Busy Badgers 4-H Club, Republican Party and the America Jersey Cattle Assoc. Palmer and Florence enjoyed the traveling brought about by attending the National Jersey Conventions, for 24 years. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Her love of cooking was enjoyed by all. She also loved baby sitting and attending grandchildren events. Florence is survived by her husband, Palmer, town of Centerville; two daughters, Nancy (Karl) Oehldrich of Town Centerville and Diane Bonde of School Hill; one son, Allen (Bonnie) Kracht of Town Centerville; nine grandchildren: Matt and Jordan Bonde of School Hill; Adam Kracht USMC of San Diego, Calif.; Andrew and Katie Kracht of Town Centerville; Tammy (Shawn) Dehne of Cleveland; Kelly (Joe) Wamser of Sheboygan; Robert (Sarah) Oehldrich of Town Centerville; Dennis (Kayla) Oehldrich of Cleveland; three great grandchildren: Lily, Emma and Hannah. Further survived by brothers and sisters-in-laws; Myron Voland, Wallace Kracht, Lester (Betty) Kracht, Alvin (Loretta) Kracht, Florence (Norbert) Mallmann and Nancy Kracht. Preceding her in death are her parents; one sister, Arlene Voland; seven sisters and brothers-in-law: Henry Kracht, Orville Kracht, Evelyn and Curly Sass, Leroy Kracht, Beverly Kracht, and Patricia Kracht. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at 1 p.m. at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. The Pastor David Endorf will officiate, and burial will follow at Saxon Cemetery in the Town of Centerville. Friends may all at the church on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. PALMER H. KRACHT Palmer H. Kracht, age 86, a town of Centerville resident, went home to his Lord on Jan. 8, 2011, at Morningside Healthcare Center; in Sheboygan. He was born March 31, 1924, in the town of Rhine, the son of the late Otto and Magdaline Dirks Kracht. He attended the district grade school. On July 1, 1950. Palmer was united in marriage to Florence Heimann, at Haven, Wis. The couple resided in Haven until 1957, when they moved to the town of Centerville, where they engaged in dairy farming. The marriage was blessed with three children. Florence passed away Oct. 1, 2009. Palmer was a member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, where he has served on the church council. He was also a member of the Manitowoc County Farm Bureau, the Meeme Busy Badgers 4-H Club. The Republican Party and the American Jersey Cattle Assoc. Palmer and Florence enjoyed the traveling brought about by attending the National Jersey Conventions, for 24 years. He enjoyed playing Skip-Bo and Carom with the grandchildren. Palmer took great pride in taking care of his fruit trees, and enjoyed sharing plums apples, and juice with family and friends. Preceding him in death: His wife, Florence; one sister: Evelyn Sass and her husband Curly; three brothers: Henry, Orville and Leroy Kracht; and three sisters-in-law: Patricia and Beverly Kracht and Arlene Voland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. The Rev. David Endorf will officiate and burial will follow at Saxon Cemetery in the town of Centerville. JOYCE A. KRAEMER Joyce A. Kraemer, 75, Village of Cleveland resident, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010, at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, of pulmonary fibrosis. She was born June 30, 1934, in Sheboygan to the late Alfred and Lillie (Barthel) Jaehnig. Joyce attended schools in Sheboygan and Manitowoc County. She graduated from Kiel High School in 1952. On Sept. 6, 1952, she was united in marriage to Charles "Chubby" Kraemer by the Rev. Eldon Bode at St. John-St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. Charles preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1989. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of St John-St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Cleveland Senior Center, Homemakers group and several card clubs, one for more than 50 years. VERNA M. KRAEMER Verna M. Kraemer, age 86, of Howards Grove, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home where she had been a resident the last month. The former Verna, Karstaedt was born on June 7, 1917 in the town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, a daughter of the late Otto and Ida (Heckmann) Karstaedt. She attended School in the town of Meeme. Verna Karstaedt was united in marriage to Walter Oehldrich on April 3, 1937 at Ss. John and Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. Walter preceded her in death on July 7, 1977. She married Arthur Kraemer on Feb. 7, 1981. Verna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Haven and the Ladies Guild of the Church. Verna was an avid gardener and raised beautiful produce that she gave to her family and friends. She enjoyed craft making and sewing doll clothes for her three great-granddaughters. Surviving Verna are two daughters, three grandchildren, three great- grandchildren, two sisters, three brothers, one brother-in-law, four sisters- in-law. Also surviving her is a stepdaughter, four stepsons, 16 step- grandchildren, nineteen step-great-grandchildren and one step great-great- grandson. Verna was preceded in death by two infant sons: one step-grandson, Thomas: two sisters, Olive Koeppen and Dorothy Wenzel; and one brother, Gilbert Karstaedt. A funeral service will be held for Verna on Friday May 28, at 7 p.m. at Zimmer’s Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center. The Rev. Ronald Pederson, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Haven will officiate. Interment will be in Saxon Cemetery, town of Centerville. GORDON BERNARD KRESS Gordon B. Kress, 75, of 22 E. Fremont St., Kiel, died Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan after a short illness. He was born August 28, 1930 in Cleveland, son of the late Norbert & Roma Hartfield Kress. Gordon attended Cleveland area schools. He was a veteran of the US Army serving his country in Okinawa, Japan. On August 21, 1954 he married LuAnn Leonard at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel. On January 23, 1981 he married Eleanor Anderson. Eleanor preceded him in death on September 3, 1995. Gordon worked for Kohler Co. from 1954-1965, Manitowoc Co. Highway Dept.from 1965-1974 and retired from Grede Foundries, Kingsford, MI on August 28, 1992. The past 10 years he had been a caretaker at Millview Apartments, Kiel. He was a member of Kiel VFW Post 6707 and a former member of the Cleveland VFW. Survivors include his children: Terry (Diane) Kress, Kiel and their children, Jason Kress, Julie (Kyle) Grosshuesch, Scott Kress, Rickey (Laura) Kress, Cleveland and their children, Amanda Kress & her children, Breydin & Elijah; Nicholas, Matthew & Jennifer Kress, Lynn (Darren) Joniaux, Kiel and their children, Bradley, Trevor & Samantha Joniaux, Karen (Wally) Theel, Elkhart Lake and their children, Kelly & Kayla Theel. He is further survived by his brothers: Earl (Helen) Kress, Harvey (Kathy) Kress, Jimmy (Donna) Kress, Melvin (Theresa) Kress, two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Kress, Annie Kress, also stepchildren, other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by two sons, Timmy & Alen and two brothers, Ralph & Jerome. BERNICE W. KRUEGER Bernice W. Krueger, 77, of Sheboygan, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at her home. Bernice was born July 16, 1933 in Cleveland, WI to Bruno and Alvina (Wehrmann) Zill. She was a graduate of Sheboygan Central High School, Class of 1951. On July 24, 1954 Bernice and Ronald W. Krueger were united in marriage at St. John - St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, WI. Ron preceded her in death on February 3, 1998. She worked at the Plastics Engineering Company in the maintenance department for 26 years before retiring. Bernice had a great love for her family. She was looking forward to the day when she would again see the love of her life, Ronnie, in heaven. So family and friends, I know it is difficult, but be happy for her, for she is experiencing joy beyond what we can comprehend, as she is now in a much better place. Bernice is lovingly survived by her three sons, Jeffery, Brian (Kimberly)and Scott (Julie. She was preceded in death by Ronald and her parents as well as two brothers, Elmer and Myron, and a sister, Edna Jaeger; and a great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 16th at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2132 N. 27th St., Sheboygan. Reverend Timothy P. Kuske, Pastor, will officiate.
