CHRISTOPHER SHAUN BRUCKSCHEN (sent in by his father) At the base of the stone of Fred & Adelia Riemer you will find a very small stone -- actually I guess you would call it a ground plaque -- for a Christopher Bruckschen. Fred & Adelia were his great grandparents. Pastor Hoppe suggested that we were a young couple struggling to get on our feet that instead of buying a separate plot for Christopher that we instead see if there were any room on my grandparent's plot for burial. It was then that we learned that both of my grandparents caskets had shifted just far enough apart to fit in a little baby's casket. And that is the story of how a little baby boy came to the same resting place as his great grandparents. Christopher's full name was Christopher Shaun Bruckschen. His date of birth was March 12th in the year of 1987 and his death occured 2 days later on March 14th. When he was born he was born with only half of his internal organs. Half a heart -- half a liver -- half a kidney and so on. We had him transferred to Children's Hospital where I spent the most part of the next 48 hours only taken a few hours here and there to be with my wife and trying to make sure she was holding up emotionally. Christopher died in my arms. That is the whole life story of Christopher Shaun Bruckschen. My father William R. Bruckschen died the day after Thanksgiving 2 years ago after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was a good man and a great father and I can only hope to be half the husband and father that he was. ALVIN LOEH ______ INJURY, BOY DEAD FROM BLOOD POISONING Tetanus poisoning which developed five days after a slight accident which befell little Alvin Loeh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Loeh of Larrabee caused the boy’s death at the Holy Family hospital at 7 o’clock last night, lockjaw setting in. Death came as a release from terrible suffering in which the boy made a brave fight for life but was not strong enough to withstand the poison which filled his system. A week ago Sunday, Alvin, who is but four years old—his birthday anniversary would have been celebrated next Sunday, June 11—played about the barn with his brother Erwin, aged two. Between them they managed to tip over a land drag, a folding contrivance of sharp spikes, used to rake the earth. In the fall one of the spikes only slightly injured the boy’s foot. He ran to his mother with the hurt and had his foot bathed and the wound cared for. It was but a small puncture and not much attention was paid to it. Saturday noon the boy became seriously ill and a physician was called. He pronounced the trouble blood poisoning. The disease developed swiftly and Sunday noon the lad was brought to the local hospital in a last desperate effort to save his life. But the poison had gained too great a hold and death came as a release from suffering last evening. Besides his parents, three brothers, Norman, Henry and Erwin survive. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o’clock from the home. Manitowoc Herald News, Monday, June 5, 1922 P. 8

CARL A. SCHULTZ KILLED BY A TRAIN Carl Schultz, an inmate of the county asylum was killed on Tuesday by the south bound train which leaves here at 1:10 p.m. The accident occurred two miles north of Cleveland. Schultz was an Ozaukee county patient and was admitted to the asylum here in 1894. He was 67 years old. He was allowed a great deal of liberty as he was old and not troublesome. He came down town a great deal but always returned in season for his meals and to wait upon the table. He was a clean old man and never morose. He had an idea that he owned considerable property at his old home and evidently had set out to reach Cedarburg. He was deaf but was always careful in avoiding trains. There is a curve in the road where he was killed and the engineer was unable to see him until it was too late. When it was learned that he did not come to dinner, Supt. Goedjen set out to find him and traced him as far as Newton. He proceeded to Cleveland just as Schultz had died in the depot.
