GERALD J. BARNES Gerald J. Barnes Gerald J. Barnes, age 84, of 9906 Pine River Road, Newton, died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. He was born Aug. 8, 1921, in the town of Liberty, son of the late John and Harriet (Finch) Barnes. Gerald was a graduate of Valders High School class of 1939. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Infantry Unit for two years during World War II in the Pacific Theater and Japan. On July 23, 1949 he married the former Geraldine M. Brotz at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Gerald was a crane operator with McMullen & Pitz and several other contractors before his retirement in 1983. In 2004, he was recognized for his 50th year as a member of the Operating Engineers Local 139. He was a lifetime member of St. Isidore Catholic Church where he served as an officer for several years and a current member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community. Gerald was a member of the VFW Otto Oas Post 659 and a peer counselor at Marco. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. Survivors include his wife: Geraldine Barnes, Newton; two sons and daughters-in-law: Dale and Janet Barnes, Manitowoc; Daniel and Beth Barnes, Elizabeth, Colo.; four daughters and sons-in-law: Patricia and Roger Mayer, Newton; Debra and Robert Meyers, Mequon; Connie and Dennis Casper, Manitowoc; Tina and Paul Mattia, Prior Lake, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Marjorie and Eugene Fitzgerald, Kenosha; Yvonne and Richard Jones, Washington, Mo.; George and Ann Brotz, Shorewood; John Regner, Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Bob and Francis Barnes; one sister: Lenora McCulley. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2006, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry with burial at the church cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the VFW Otto Oas Post 659. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton, from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2006, where a prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7 p.m. led by Brenda Korinek. ROBERT H. BURROWS Robert H. Burrows Sr. Robert Henry George Burrows Sr., age 83, of the town of Meeme, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn. Robert was born on March 31, 1925, in Chicago,Ill., son of the late Frank and Sophie Burrows. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II, as a automatic rifleman in the Pacific Theatre, where he was awarded the Purple Heart medal and the Good Conduct medal. Mr. Burrows was also awarded the following ribbons during his Marine service career: the Navy Presidental Unit Citation; the Navy Unit Commendation; the Asiatic Pacific; the World War II Victory; and the Navy Occupation Service Ribbon. On Oct. 5, 1946, he married the former Helen Kuprewicz at St. Camilus Catholic Church. Robert began his employment as a machinist in the Chicago, Ill., area. He then moved to Pulaski, where he was owner/operator of a farm for 16 years. Robert then moved to the town of Meeme, and helped establish B&B Metals, where he retired as vice president of the company. Survivors include his wife: Helen Burrows, town of Meeme; two sons and a daughter-in-law; grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren (private). Robert was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law: Sally Burrows. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2008, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, town of Newton. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley. Entombment will follow at the family mausoleum at St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery, where full Military Rites will be accorded. The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, April 27, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, where a prayer service will be held at 4 p.m., led by Brenda Korinek. DONALD LEMBERGER Donald J. Lemberger, age 74, of 2343 Hwy. 42, Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 15, 2004 at his residence. It was Donald's wish to have his body donated to medical science at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. Private family funeral services will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton. The Rev. David Beaudry will celebrate the Memorial Mass with his cremated remains to be buried in the parish cemetery. Donald was born Aug. 14, 1930 in Cato, son of the late Edward and Anna Augustine Lemberger. On May 9, 1951, he married the former Marcella Kostechka at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Reedsville. He worked for Mirro for 43 years as a supervisor, retiring in 1991. Donald was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Manitowoc Senior Center, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was a volunteer at the Capitol Civic Centre. Don was an avid gardener, being called "the gladiola man." Donald is survived by his wife: Marcella, Manitowoc; five children: David and Carol Lemberger, Newton; Deborah and Richard Little, Newton; Andrea and Terry Raduenz, Manitowoc; Petrea Wallander of Manitowoc and her fiance, Rick Turner; Wendy Lemberger of Manitowoc and her fiance, Tony Gabriel; 10 grandchildren; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Harold and Elane Lemberger, Manitowoc; Serina Lemberger, California; one sister and brother-in-law: Marie and Claude Anhalt, Brillion. Brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters-in-law. ELIZABETH 'BETTY' LINDEMANN Elizabeth "Betty" Lindemann, age 70, of 12401 Newton Road, Valders, died peacefully at home on Saturday morning, Nov. 10, 2007, after a courageous, 10-month battle with cancer. She was born on Feb. 25, 1937, in the village of St. Nazianz, daughter of the late Francis and Linda (Kaltenbrun) Schnell. Elizabeth was a graduate of Valders High School, Class of 1955. She worked in data entry at the Salvatorian Seminary, St. Nazianz, then as a receptionist for Dr. Raymond Jost, Manitowoc, until her marriage. On June 23, 1956, she married Philip C. Lindemann at St. Gregory's Church, St. Nazianz. Elizabeth was a homemaker assisting her husband at Pine River Pre-Pack Inc., Newton, and nurturing her spiritual interest that encompassed prayer, reading, journaling and song writing. Survivors include her husband: Philip C. Lindemann, Valders; two daughters and sons-in-law, three sons and daughters-in-law, Valders, 17 grandchildren, a sister and brother-in-law, a special aunt, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She also was preceded in death by two brothers: Elroy Schnell, Valders and Paul Schnell, St. Nazianz. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. PHILIP C. LINDEMANN Philip C. Lindemann, age 77, of 12401 Newton Road, Valders, died on Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at the Manitowoc Health Care Center. He was born on Nov. 4, 1930, in the city of Manitowoc, son of the late Oscar E. and Rose (Glander) Lindemann. Philip was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1949. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, 848 Ordnance Ammunition Company, in 1952 and 1953, then returned to his native Wisconsin. He worked from 1954 to 1963, for Northern Wisconsin Produce Co., Manitowoc, packaging and marketing Sunshine Farms brand Wisconsin cheese. On June 23, 1956, he married the former Elizabeth L. Schnell at St. Gregory's Church, St. Nazianz. They shared 51 years of marriage together, while raising five children. Philip was the president of Pine River Pre-Pack, Incorporated, 10134 Pine River Road, Newton, from 1963, until he retired in 1997. With a background in all phases of the dairy trade, from farm hand to licensed cheese grader, and a fascination with technology, he set off on his mission to make Wisconsin cheese more widely available in new, convenient forms. He developed a recipe for Cold Pack Cheese that his company produced and marketed. Under his leadership, Pine River won many blue ribbons and gold medals at the World Championship Cheese Contest, World Dairy Expo, U.S. Championship Cheese Contest, American Cheese Society, Wisconsin Governor's Sweepstakes, and the Wisconsin Grand Master Cheese Maker Competition. The company also produces chocolates, and has won numerous Wisconsin State Fair Seal of Excellence Awards. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, three sons and daughters-in-law, 17 grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, and a brother-in-law. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife: Elizabeth L. Lindemann, Valders; two brothers: Oscar Lindemann, Pigeon Lake; and John Lindemann, Valders; and a sister: Muriel Ellingboe, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton, on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. SEAN STEPHEN MCLAFFERTY Sean Stephen McLafferty, age 34, was received by his eternal maker on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, in Grand Rapids, Mich. Sean was born on May 1, 1976, to Joseph and Becky McLafferty. He spent his early days in St. Ignace, Mich. Growing up Sean was an avid athlete who had a passion for sports including football, hockey, basketball and track. Sean went on to play football for his beloved Ferris State Bulldogs in Big Rapids, Mich., while receiving both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees. Among Sean’s many accomplishments was recognition for his academic achievement during his football career. Sean was a project manager for Amway Global Headquarters in Ada, Mich. Sean is survived by his wife: Amanda Wood McLafferty; and two year old daughter: Audrey; parents: Joe and Becky McLafferty; sister and brother-in-law: Colleen and Michael Bauer; grandfather: James E. Smith; aunts and uncles; Patrick Smith (Jeannie), Mari Smith McClaffety, Terrence Smith (Brenda), Linda Staszak (Geno), Tom Watchorn (Vicki); cousins: Sarah, Colin, Taylor, Natasha, Danielle, Nicole, Tom, David; mother-in-law: Jennifer Wood; father-in-law; Dean Wood (Laura); brother- in-law: Jeremy Wood; and sister-in-law: Sharon Liner (Louis). He was further survived by nieces and nephews: Kaleigh, Elianna, Seth, Lillian and Olivia; along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him. Sean graced the lives of many people with his smile, enthusiasm and love. His funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas of the Apostle Catholic Church in Manitowoc. RANDAL K. RIESTERER Randal K. Riesterer, 53, of Newton, died on Aug. 16, 2015 at his home after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. The funeral will be at 11 am on Thursday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community in Newton. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry, with burial to follow at the church cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 3 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday at the church and again from 9 am until 10:45 am on Thursday. Randy was born on March 18, 1962 in the Town of Chilton, son of Kenny and Kathy Kraemer Riesterer. He graduated from Valders High School in 1980. On April 5, 1986 he married Faye Grotegut at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in St. Nazianz. Randy was an owner and officer of Riesterer & Schnell Inc. He managed the Denmark location until his retirement in 2010. He was passionate about his Himmelgarten Vineyard and restoring farmland into prairie and wildflowers. He enjoyed playing trombone in the Newtonburg Brass Band and was also involved with the St. Thomas Catholic Community, in particular, taking part in the Capital Campaign Committee. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Faye J. Riesterer of Newton, their three children, Dustin, Dayna and Dilyn Riesterer, his parents, Kenny and Kathy Riesterer of Kiel; one sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Tom Kopanski of Georgia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Colleen Riesterer of Reedsville and Frank and Jill Riesterer of Kiel. Also surviving are his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ival and Dorothy Grotegut of Newton, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom and Brenda Grotegut of Newton, Dave and Kim Grotegut of Newton, Nancy and Mark Mueller of Greenleaf, Debbie and Mark Heinzen of Newton, Gail and Troy Temma of Newton, Doug and Jean Grotegut of Manitowoc and Greg and Bobbie Grotegut of Newton. RANDALL N. SCHNEIDER Randall N. Schneider, age 39, of 3316 Gass Lake Road, Manitowoc, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at his residence. Randy was born on April 2, 1968, in Manitowoc, son of Pearl (Schultz) Schneider and the late Reuben J. Schneider. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1986. Randy then earned an associate's degree in electronics from Lakeshore Technical College in 1988. On Nov. 6, 1993, he married the former Lynn Braun at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Randy was employed at Thermo Fischer Scientific, Two Rivers, as an electronic technician. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community. (Survivors omitted for privacy.)
