Marvin, 44, manager of the Metalware Corporation there and leader in civic and fraternal life of Two Rivers passed away at 4:30 Sunday afternoon of a bullet wound. He was found in the bedroom of his home, late Saturday afternoon, shot through the body with a small rifle and removed at once to the hospital. The .22 calibre bullet entered his lung and septic pneumonia developed a few hours later, and caused his death. Funeral services for Mr. Marvin will be held Tuesday afternoon at two, from the Grace Congregational church with burial at Forest View cemetery, with the Masonic order in charge of the services at the grave. The body will be at the church tomorrow morning from 10 to 12 for those wishing to view the remains. Suffered Nervous Breakdown The tragedy cast a pall of sorrow among the hosts of friends of Mr. Marvin, not only in Two Rivers, but in Manitowoc where he was well known. He had never recovered his health from an influenza attack a year ago, which was followed by a nervous breakdown and it was to this condition that Dr. Zlatnik the attending physician, attributed the tragedy. The deceased was an old time resident of Two Rivers who left there twenty years ago, built up a place for himself in the business world and returned three years ago to become associated with the Metalware Corporation, manufacturers of electrical toys and electricl appliances. He always took an interest in civic affairs, was a member of the transportation commission there, a director of the Lakeside Country club and of the Two Rivers Chapter of the Red Cross, president of the Two Rivers Shrine club and a member of the Rotary club. Took First Position at Two Rivers Walter Sykes Marvin was born at Mauston, Wis., December 16, 1887, the son of Judson L. and Mary Sykes Marvin. He received his early education in the schools of Mauston and after his graduation from high school there graduated from the Wisconsin Business University at La Crosse. Mr. Marvin's first position was in Two Rivers, as a bookkeeper at the Hamilton Manufacturing Company, where he made rapid advancement. He came to Two Rivers in 1908, and remained with the Hamilton company until 1911, when he left to take charge of an aluminum plant which had been organized in his home town. In 1913 the aluminum plant at Mauston was sold, and Mr. Marvin accepted an offer from the Burgess Battery company at Madison, which remained his home for the next six years. In 1919 Mr. Marvin became connected with the French battery company of Madison, and was sent east to take charge of their eastern branch at Newark, N.J., where he remained until 1923. In that year he was transferred to Chicago in charge of sales for the French company, a position he held until in 1926 he became connected with the Metalware Corporation. At first in charge of sales in the Chicago offices of the Metalware company, the following year Mr. Marvin was brought to Two Rivers to take general charge of the business and plant. His energetic efforts rapidly expanded the company's business, adding new lines in the way of electrical toys and appliances, and under his management the company made substantial progress. Leaves Wife and Son Mr. Marvin was married January 25, 1910, to Miss Emma Frenz of Two Rivers and their only child, Howard Leslie Marvin was born in this city and graduated from the Washington high school there with the class of 1930.
