Manitowoc Pilot, Wis., Thursday, June 6, 1907 pg. 8 ***** Notes From St. Nazianz: On Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock the marriage of Miss Ida Breu to William Birkle was solemnized at St. Gregorie's church in the presence of a large gathering of relations and friends, Rev. Father Rogies officiating. The Misses Anna Breu and Mary Schuh, sister and cousin of the bride, were the bridesmaids. The groom was attended by William and Henry Arndt. The bride wore a handsome gown of white lace over pale blue radium silk. She wore a long full veil of tulle caught with sprays of orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet of lilies of the valley and bride's roses. The bridesmaids were gowned in light green mousseline elaborately trimmed in lace with white embroidered sashes and carried a shower bouquet of white sweet peas and maiden ferns. Little Cinderlla Breu, who acted as flower girl, wore a soft white silk with white bows. After the ceremony an elaborate wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's parents to relatives only. The house was prettily decorated with a profusion of cut flowers and foliage. The color scheme in the dining room being carried out in green and white. Then followed an informal reception and dancing party at the Opera Hall. The bride is a young lady who has always lived here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Breu, and has a large circle of friends. The groom is a young man of scholarly attainments who ranks as one of the leading teachers of the county. For the past two years he has had charge of the public school of this place. Mr. and Mrs. Birkle left Wednesday morning on their wedding trip to Milwaukee, Madison and various southern points, and upon their return will reside in St. Nazianz, where the groom is at present proprietor of a recently purchased creamery. He is survived by 11 children, four of whom, Mrs. Elmer Thompson, Mrs. August Krueger, Mrs. Helen Miller, and Mrs. Harry Dill, reside in Manitowoc. The others are residents of Shawano and Appleton. Funeral services will be conducted at the Bishop home at Seymour Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, and burial will take place at Appleton. Mr. Bishop spent his boyhood here and was married in Manitowoc to Mary Bies 57 years ago. His wife passed away five years ago. The Bishops remained in Manitowoc several years after their marriage, then established their home in Shawano county. A few weeks after Mr. Bishop went to Shawano county to clear space for a farm home in the dense forest, he was informed of the death of his young daughter.
