OAKCRAFT: See WILLOTTOAKLEY: Byron Leslie m: 3 Feb. 1883 (co. mar. index. v.5 p.107) to: Veroqua B. Sheldon Oakley-Sheldon. Married-At the home of bride's parents in Branch Mills, Wis., on Saturday, Feb. 3, 1883, by the Rev. J.M. Craig, Byron L. Oakley and Veroqua B. Sheldon. We suspected something was in the wind when friend Byron dropped into our sanctum one day last week and asked our advice on the subject of marriage, but we didn't think he would follow it so soon. And then, to go and carry off one of the best writers of the Times' corps of correspondents! But it's just like B.L.O., and we don't blame him. Seldon have a more worthy couple been united in the bonds of matrimony than the above named. They well deserve the best wishes of their many friends, among which the Times flatters itself to be numbered. Manitowoc Lake Shore Times, Tuesday, February 6, 1883 P. 1 ********** Mr. B.L. Oakley of Antigo has at last succeeded in leading to the alter (sic) one of the fair damsels of the Branch, the nuptial knot was tied by the Rev. Mr. Craig, who plowed his way through snow drifts over the horse's back so as not to diappoint the young couple. Manitowoc Lake Shore Times, Tuesday, February 6, 1883 P. 1 ******** OAKLEY—SHELDON – On Saturday, February 5th, at the residence of the bride in Branch village, by Rev. J. M. Craig, Mr. Byron Oakley of Antigo and Miss Veroque B. Sheldon of Branch. The young couple whose union is announced above, are quite well known throughout this county, having for some time been engaged in teaching and attained a degree of prominence in their profession which has given them an extended reputation. They are both people of superior mental endowments and of far more than average intellectual requirements. Mr. Oakley has been admitted to the bar but has not yet begun the practice of law, being at present principal of the Antigo schools, and is also engaged in other business of a more remunerative character. He is a young man of considerable force of character and has received a training in the school of life which is a good bands for future success. His bride, at the time of her marriage, was engaged in teaching a school of such a character as to attest her ability. Together with talent, she begins married life with a large capital of good sense. Once feels safe in predicting happiness and success for such people. Manitowoc Pilot Thursday, February 8, 1883

Society has received the announcement of the approaching marriage of Miss Eva, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. De Lano to Wm. F. Ohde, which will be celebrated early in June. Both young people have been prominent in social circles of the city and are well and favorably known to a large circle of friends who will be happy to offer congratulations upon the event. Mr. Ohde has been associated as business manager of the Pilot. The couple will make their home in this city. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Thursday, April 30, 1903 P. 1 ******** William F. Ohde, who on June 4 is to wed Miss Eva DeLano, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. DeLano, gave a pre nuptial supper to a party of fourteen of his gentlemen friends at the Tuhey private home Saturday evening. An elaborate menu was served and the guests received souvenirs of cards and carnations. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Monday, May 18, 1903, P. 1 ******** Pretty Home Wedding of Miss Eva DeLano and William F. Ohde. CEREMONY AT HIGH NOON. A wedding day of unclouded beauty giving promise of future happiness was granted to the first June bride of the year today, the celebration of the nuptials of Miss Eva, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.w. DeLano, to William F. Ohde at high noon being solemnized at a home wedding perfect in appointments and the elegance of simplicity at the home of the bride's parents on North Fifth street. Rev. J.T. O'Leary blessed the exchange of vows to which a small party of relatives and intimate friends gave smiling sanction. The bride was becomingly attired in a gown of white crepe de bradinaux trimmed with real lace and was unattended. Miss Fay Landreth presided at the piano and the soft, sweet strains gave an added charm to the pretty ceremony. Simple decorations of the rooms, the beauty of the bride and the happiness of the attending friends made up a scene that was pleasing to beholden. Few young people of the city have been favored with a more auspicious ushering in of a new life and none are more deserving of the happiness which is promised. The bride is a charming girl who has always made her home in this city and whose many winning graces have endeared her to a large circle of friends. Miss DeLano is a graduate of the north side high school, a young lady of many accomplishments and endowed by Nature with those womanly qualities which make the home over which she presides a true haven to the man honored by the gift of her affections. Mr. Ohde, although not a native of the city, has, in the four years of his residence here, proven his worth. Capable, ambitious and possessing an excellent character he has won an envialable place in social and business circles and is in every way worthy of the charming bride he claimed today. Mr. and Mrs. Ohde will spend their honeymoon at Denver, Co., and will then return here to take up their home in a residence on Fourth street. That their future may be blessed with a full measure of the best things of life is a wish of hosts of friends to which the Herald gives a second.
