Fire At Pail Factory
 
Last Monday night the pail factory came near having
a big fire. A kerosene stove used in thawing open
steam pipes connected with the veneer dryer somehow
started the wood work, the fire spread rapidly to 
the second floor but the new sprinkler system did
effective work. The fire was distinguished (sic)
just before time the Fire Dept. arrived. A heavy
East wind was blowing when the alarm sounded.



STANGEL
This is from A History of Two Rivers, 
written 1969 (synopsis)
 
On March 10, 1913, George F. Stangel and Frank L. Stangel 
purchased the Waneke Meat Market at 1414 - 19th Street in the 
City of Two Rivers....George was trained as a meat cutter and 
Frank received training in business. Both were sons of 
Mr. & Mrs. George W. Stangel of Tisch Mills. 

The picture of the man below is that of George or Frank Stangel.
The photo was found in a box of pictures and labeled on the back,
founder of Stangel's Grocery Store in Two Rivers.

We suspect it is that of George Stangel.  If you notice the man 
is wearing sturdy cuffs on his arms.  Much like those a butcher
would wear to protect his wrists from cuts.
