Der Nord Westen, 03 June 1897 ******** Reedsville: Miss Barbara Kabat and Jos Wactel of Two Rivers, were united in marriage Tuesday morning at 8:30 o'clock. The wedding was a secret one. Brillion News, Fri., June 4, 1897 ******** On Sunday, June 8, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Wachtel, 1606 25th street, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They had a family dinner at noon for their three children and their families. In the afternoon they entertained relatives and friends at their home at open house. Miss Catherine Wachtel poured. The pleasant weather was especially appreciated as it permitted the overflow crowd to amble about the lawn and enjoy the pleasant sunshine. A little skit in the setting of 1897, depicting the bride, Barbara Kabat, and the groom, Joseph J. Wachtel, was written by the daughter- in-law, Mrs. Clarence Wachtel of Wauwatosa. Some of the principal characters in the takeoff, which came as a complete surprise were the honored couple's granchildren - Miss Barbara Hodek as the bride; Master Joseph L. Wachtel, Wauwatosa, as the groom; Master James Hodek as the preacher; Mary Clare Wachtel, ring bearer; Lou Ann LaFave, maid of honor; Betty Wachtel of this city and Billy Wachtel of Wauwatosa, train bearers. Georgia and Mrs. Reuben Wachtel of Milwaukee sang several solos. Two Rivers Reporter, June 1947 Photo

WADE: Walter Franklin m: 25 Sep 1902 (co. mar. index v.7 p.248) to: Anna Trestik ******** RECORDS GAVE IT AWAY. Marriage of Well Known Young People Guarded as a Secret for Six Weeks. SOUTH SIDE GIRL A BRIDE. Miss Anna Trestik and Walter Franklin Wade Steal March on their Friends-Announcement a Surprise. Official records at probate court have revealed a secret which for six weeks has been safely guarded by two young people who fondly believed that it would remain so until it should be their pleasure to divulge it; a secret of love's consumation in happy marriage, the announcement of which will come as a pleasant surprise to friends of Miss Anna J. Tretik and Walter Franklin Wade. The recording of a special dispensation granted to the couple gave the first intimation of the important event that occurred six weeks ago. The marriage of Miss Trestik and Mr. Wade was solemnized at the parsonage of St. Boniface Catholic church by Rev. Father Peil on the evening ofSeptember 25, the only witnesses being the attendants. Miss Rose Zeman and Ira Edwards. The bride immediately returned to the home of her parents and the groom has continued his residence at another home. The quiet manner of celebrating was decided upon owing to the recent death of Mr. Wade's mother and while it was intended that the matter should be kept secret, it has failed to become public until now. Both Mr. and Mrs. Wade are well known in the city and have a wide circle of friends who will tender congratulations upon their new found happiness. The bride is a daughter of Joseph Trestik, a well known contractor, residing on South Thirteenth street and is a young lady who is popular in social circles. Mr. Wade came here from Fond du Lac four years ago and is employed in the office of the local factory of the American School Furniture Supply Co. He enjoys an excellent reputation and is a young man whose ability and ambition equip him for success in life. The couple will soon take possession of a new home which is being prepared for them. The Herald unites with friends in wishing that their future may be bright and happy. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Saturday, December 6, 1902 P. 1

Ward and Anna Malone both of Manitowoc ******** TAKES SECOND BRIDE B.N. Ward, Former Elevator Man Wedded to Miss Mary Ann Malone. WEDDING WAS QUIET ONE. Announcment a Surprise In city-Make Hom (sic) at Oconto Where Mr. Ward Engages In Business. From a position as housekeeper to that of mistress of the home was the change that came to Miss Mary Ann Malone with her marriage to Benjamin N. Ward, celebrated Tuesday evening at the residnece of the groom on Marshall street. The announcement will occasion surprise, although for some time past there has been a rumor that a matrimonial alliance was probable between the two. Few guests witnessed the ceremony, only immediate relatives of Mr. Ward being present. Rev. S.R.S. Gray of St. James Episcopal church officiated at the services. Owing to the fact that the home has been dismantled preparatory to the early removal of the family from the city, no celebration of the event was indulged in, a quiet ceremony being performed. Both Mr. Ward and his bride are well known in the city though having been residents here but few years. Since the death of Mrs. Ward, little over a year ago, Miss Malone has been employed as housekeeper at the home and the marriage follows an acquaintance formed at that time. Mr. Ward was formerly employed as superintendent of the local elevator for the Northern Grain company but left the position several months and has been seeking a new location since then, making this city his headquarters in the meantime. Recently he purchased a restaurant at Oconto and has planned to take up his residence there immediately. This undoubtedly hastened the marriage for which a special dispensation was granted by the court. Since coming here and until her employment by Mr. Ward, Miss Malone made her home with the family of G.A. Alexander and was engaged as the housekeeper at the Williams House when Mr. Alexander managed the hotel. She is reported to be possessed of considerable property interests and it is said that relatives were much opposed to her marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Ward leave for Oconto at once and will make their future home there. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Wednesday, February 4, 1903 P. 1
