SCHUETTE: B. Albert m: 26 Oct 1898 (co. mar. index v.7 p.21) to: Anna Hesman(?) Hentcher From Der Nord Westen, 27 Oct. 1898: Marriage yesterday evening of Albert Schuette, son of Fritz Schuette, with Miss Anna Hentscher, daughter of Hermann Hentscher locally. The ceremony took place in the home of the bride's parents attended by many guests who participated in the festivities. The pair was serenaded by the Freie Saengerbund. ******* Mr. Albert Schuette and Miss Anna Hentscher will be married this evening at the residence of the bride's parents, 814 North Eighth street. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Manitowoc, Wis. Wednesday, October 26, 1898 P. 4 ******* A BRILLIANT WEDDING Mr. Albert Schuette and Miss Anna Hentscher United in Marriage Last Evening. A CHARMING SOCIETY EVENT. The Home of Mr. and Mrs. Hentscher Transformed Into a Veritable Floral Bower in Honor of the Event. The hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hentscher was the scene of a brilliant social event last evening-the marriage of their daughter, Anna, to Mr. Albert Schuette. Only the relatives and intimate friends of the contracting parties were present. Promptly at the appointed hour the bridal party entered the parlor where the bride and groom took their places directly under a beautiful floral conopy, woven of smilax, palms and ferns and decorated with roses. Rev. Machmueller read the impressive marriage service and the accompanying exhortation of the Lutheran ritual and pronounced the young couple man and wife. Immediately following the ceremony the newly-married couple received the hearty congratulations of the assembled guests and best wishes for their future happiness. The bride was robed in a gown of pure white muslin de soie over white liberty satin. She carried a bouquet of roses and with the exception of a diamond brooch wore no artificial ornaments. She was attended by Miss Lilly White, of Antigo, as maid of honor. Miss White wore a gown of white organdie. The groom wore the conventional black and was attended by Mr. Edward Schuette as best man. An elaborate wedding supper served in courses, was partaken of by the assembled company and later Mr. and Mrs. Schuette were escorted to their new home on North Ninth St. where they will reside. The social prominence and wide acquaintance of the contracting parties makes this wedding a social event. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hentscher and is a young lady who possesses in a rare degree those qualities of head and heart, those graces of mind and person, which win for their fortunate possessor the respect and esteem of all. She has been a favorite in social circles and is well fitted to grace her new sphere of life. The groom is the son of Fred Schuette, senior member of the firm of Schuette Bros. He is employed in the business and is regarded as a rising young merchant. He is a graduate of our state university and is a young man of upright habits and sterling traits of character. The Herald joins in congratulations. May the future be to them all that their fondest hopes anticipate. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Manitowoc, Wis. Thursday, October 27, 1898 P. 1

SCHUETTE: Friedrich m: 29 June 1873 (co. mar. index v.4 p.70 also v.4 p. 73) to: Laura Kemper ENGAGEMENT.-We were the recipient of a card a few days since, with the names of Miss Laura Kemper and Mr. Friedrich Schuette, and directly underneath the name was the cabalistic (sic) word "Verlobte". We consulted our Latin and French dictionaries, "Verlobte" was not registered; a friend suggested that it might be German; we had no dictionary but rushed out on the street, seized a German boy and choked him until he willingly informed us it meant "Engaged". We thought this translation of the mysterious word highly probable; having had the honor of a passing acquaintance with the fair betrothed, and along and pleasant one with Mr. Schuette, we accepted it as the most natural result of their acquaintance, and with wonder at our stupidity we now hasten to offer our congratulatory wishes for an unclouded future. Manitowoc Pilot, Thursday, February 13, 1873 P. 4 ***** From the Files of the Pilot – Forty-Four Years Ago – (1873) Married Schuette-Kemper In this city on Sunday, June 29th at the residence of the bride's father, by John F. Zimms, Esq., Mr. Fred Schuette and Miss Laura Kemper, both of this city. We tender our cordial congratulations to the wedded party with the consciousness that there are few to whom the future promises so brightly. With so fair and amiable a bride, our friend Schuette's wedding bells “ring fair and clear” for a lifelong happiness. Manitowoc Pilot, Thurs., Juy 5, 1917

Schultz and Mamie E. Bartelme, both of this city. There was a large crowd of friends and relatives of the young couple present in the church this morning to witness the impressive ceremony by which they were firmly bound together during life in the sacred bonds of matrimony and from each one present, there was a prayer offered or an earnest desire which is the soul of prayer, was felt that happiness might result from the union beig consummated at the altar in accordance with the solemn rites of the Catholic Church; for the happy pair are well known in Two Rivers and are universally loved and esteemed. It was a pretty sight the wedding party made as they passed down the main aisle of the church to the daintily decorated altar where their vows were plighted to the music of Mendelsohn's wedding march and the ceremony that linked their lives together was most impressive. The bride is a sister of the present manager of the Wavery Hotel, Mr. Peter Bartelme, and a niece of Mrs. M. Bartelme, its proprietor,, with whom she has lived for many years. She is a bright and loveable little lady and is highly esteemed by all who know her. She has held the position of first assistant in our post office for several years past and has won the good will of the public by her ability and uniform courtesy. The bridegroom is the junior member of the livery firm of F. Schultz & Son. He is a young man of good habits and ambitious and industrious and will make married life successful and pleasant, if his own efforts are not nullified by unforseen adversity. The Chronicle extends its congratulations to the happy pair. After a wedding repast at the Waverly, which was a very elaborate and appetizing affair, they started on a wedding trip. They will be at home to their friends after July 16. The Chronicle – Tues., June 16, 1903 ******** Miss Mamie E. Bartelme and Wm. E. Schumacher of Manitowoc, to Marie Jirikowic of Manitowoc… Manitowoc Pilot, Wis., Thursday, April 18, 1901 pg. 1 ***** YOUTHFUL HEARTS MADE HAPPY. Afternoon Wedding, Jirikowic-Schumacher, Is Solemnized Today. Youthful hearts were joined in happiest union today when Miss Mary Jirikowic and Charles Schumacher exchanged vows of life- long fidelity and received the benediction of marriage. The ceremony took place at the German Reformed church at 8 o’clock and was witnessed by a small party of relatives and intimate friends. Rev. Zenk officiated and bridal attendants were Misses Lena Schumacher and Elizabeth Jirikowic and Messrs. Joseph Jirikowic and Joseph Buritz. A reception and wedding dinner followed the service, the party repairing to the home of the bride’s parents immediately. The young people who were parties to the interesting event, are both well known and highly esteemed. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Jirikowic, Main street, and is a young lady who has won herself a place in the hearts of many friends. The groom is a member of the firm of Buritz & Schumacher, and is a young man of excellent character and energetic business capabilities. They will reside on the North side. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Monday, April 22, 1901, p. 1 ***** Miss Mary Jirikowic was married to Charles Schumacher at the German Reformed church on Monday afternoon, the Rev. Mr. Zenk officiating. The groom and his spouse were accompanied to the church by Miss Lena Schumacher, Elizabeth Jirikowic, Joseph Jirikowic and Joseph Buritz. Manitowoc Pilot, Wis., Thursday, April 25, 1901 pg. 5 ***** TWO MORE TO THE PASTEUR INSTITUTE Chas. Schumacher is Bitten by Dog Said to be Mad. JIRIKOWIC BOY IS ALSO VICTIM Bitten by a dog which experts of the state health department say showed every indication of rabies, Charles Schumacher and Reginald Jirikowoc his little brother-in-law have been taken to Madison to enter the hospital there and will be given the pasteur treatment. The two were bitten last Sunday and fearful that the dog had hydrophobia the animal, which showed peculiarities in his actions, was shot at the time and the head sent to the state department for examination. The report from the department was delayed in some manner and has just been received here. Following this, the two made immediate preparations to go to Madison and left on the noon train. On Friday and Saturday of last week a pet Scotch collie dog belonging to Jos. Jirikowic was seen to act in a peculiar manner and while no particular attention was paid to the matter at the time, the dog grew steadily worse and soon attracted the attention of the household. About that time it was learned that the collie had been bitten several weeks before by one of the same dogs that spread the contagion through which A. Meyer a South Side man was forced to go to the Pasteur institute. This prompted the family to consult a physician who advised that the dog be killed or locked up. This was Saturday. On Sunday night Mr. Schumacher and family spent the evening at the Jirikowic home and while there it was at large. He was found and taken to the house by Mr. Schumacher not without a struggle and it was while endeavoring to get the dog back into the shed where he was kept that Schumacher was snapped at and bitten in several places. The wounds were mere scratches however and nothing was thought of the matter until the next day when the dog began to show unmistakenable signs of hydrophobia and was killed. After a consultation, it was decided to send the dog's head to Madison for examination which was done under the direction of a physician. Nothing was heard from the institute in one way or the other and Mr. Schumacher was begining(sic) to breathe easier when this morning the report came stating that the examination revealed the symptoms that were feared. Mr. Schumacher was considerably upset and annoyed because of the state department dilatody(sic) report but there was no other recourse than to leave immediately. Reginald Jirikowic a son of Jos. Jirikowic was bitten in the hip and received several small wounds in other portions of his body about the same time that the dog began to manifest symptoms and he will accompany his brother-in-law to the Institute. The two will take the regular course of twenty-one weeks treatment and it is expected that there will be no serious results. Delay to send a report of the examination of the specimen sent to Madison last week, is considered gross negligence by the victim's families who had to send a tracer to locate the shipment made of dog's head to receive information regarding the matter. It was then discovered that the department had received the consignment all right but there was a delay somewhere which the department ought to be made to explain, if it is to blame for the tardy report. It is not thought that the delay will greatly matter so far as yielding to the treatment is concerned. Mr. Schumacher had just made preparations to leave on his annual fall and winter trip for a bicycle concern in Western territory but he will be obliged to forego this until he has taken the treatment at Madison.
