Norman Scove Pledge Marriage Vows WAS A HOME FUNCTION Prominent Young People of City United in Marriage - Honeymoon Trip on the Lakes -- To Reside in City Departing day in all the glory of a midsummer evening smiled a promise of happiness and long life to Miss Irma Schuette and G. Norman Scove, two of the city's popular young people who Thursday plighted their troth at the marriage altar, while a party of 100 relatives and friends sanctioned the nuptials with a benediction of good will and light heart. The celebration of the event was a quiet, but pretty home affair at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. August Schuette, So. Eighth Street. Decorations of daisies, greens and ferns formed an attractive setting for the ceremony which was performed in the south parlor of the home at 7 o'clock, Rev. O. Johnson of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. The bride, attired in a white silk embroidered robe was attended by Miss Hertha Voje of Oconomowoc, who wore a handsome gown of white point O'esprit, as maid of honor and Miss Olga Schuette, a sister as bridesmaid. Miss Schuette was attired in a gown of white Persian lawn. Walter Schuette, brother of the bride was groomsman. Urban's harp orchestra was in attendance in the ceremony, rendering the wedding march as the young bridal couple entered the parlors and played during the dinner, which followed the ceremony and for the reception which occupied the evening at the home. The appointments of the wedding were perfect and the service was impressive and pretty. The marriage of Thursday evening is a happy culmination to a friendship of youth, both the bride and groom being natives of the city. Manitowoc society circles have no more popular young lady than Miss Schuette whose friends are limited only to her acquaintances. She is a graduate of the Southside high school and a former student at Milwaukee Downer and is an accomplished and loveable girl. Mr. Scove is a young man of ability who enjoys the esteem and respect of a wide circle of friends with whom he has surrounded himself. He is employed in a responsible position with the Manitowoc Dry Docks Co. and has bright prospects. Departing for Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Scove will enjoy a lake trip for their honeymoon and will return here in a few weeks to take up their residence in a home on Cleveland Avenue, which has been prepared for them. Many friends will unite in well wishes to the young couple and the hope that the future may be happy. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Fri., July 6, 1906 ******** The marriage of G. Norman Scove with Miss Irma Schuette, daughter of August Schuette here, took place Thursday last week. There was a marriage party for the young people that evening with over 100 guests. The message carrying the announcement of Mr. Scove's death was entirely unexpected, as recent letters had led to the hope that his health was much improved. In a letter only a few days ago to relatives Mr. Scove spoke of his plans for the future. Mr. Scove was to engage in the citrus growing industry in California, his property here having recently been disposed of with that in view and the family was planning to complete arrangements to make their permanent home in Santa Ana. Mr. and Mrs. August Schuette, parents of Mrs. Scove left for California Sunday afternoon in response to the message announcing the death of Mr. Scove. The message gave no details but it is thought that death was very sudden. Mr. and Mrs. Schuette will not reach Santa Ana in time for the funeral but will probably remain with Mrs. Scove until she is able to return with them to this city. Mr. and Mrs. Scove had made their home in California for two years. Mr. Scove was born in this city May 6, 1879, and attended the schools here. As a young man he entered the employ of Manitowoc Shipbuilding company and at the time of his resignation two years ago when his health demanded a change of climate, he held the responsible position of engineer of the hulls department of the big company. He was widely known and was universally respected and esteemed in social and business circles of the city. Mr. Scove was married to Miss Irma Schuette, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Schuette, 11 years ago. One son, Robert, with Mrs. Scove, survive. One sister, Mrs Berlin Hall, of this city, and a sister in New York also survive. A brother, George Scove, died recently. Mr. and Mrs. Schuette visited with Mr. and Mrs. Scove during the winter.
